Negative experience: This place is heartless. God forbid one of you nurses has something happen to someone in your family and you are treated in the same regard that you treat others. My son was sent here after having surgery and I called everyday to to speak to my son or a nurse taking care of him they kept giving me the run around no one would contact me after numerous messages left I never was able to speak to my son then I find out they sent him somewhere else and acted as if they didn't know where he was sent. Just heartless

Negative experience: Don’t believe any of these reviews. I’m sure they are paid To say these things. The elder person here has been put to bed with wet socks, not showered, or changed for a whole day. I waited for an hour and 45 minutes for the CNA to have time to tell me she would change the person and when she said she did she came back 40 minutes later. I checked at the “nurses station” multiple times. I have walked around myself to see elderly people falling off beds. Freezing cold trying to grab on a blanket while nothing is there for them. I have witnessed the activities person yell “yay” while every single elderly person there is sitting and looking uncomfortable. They do not help anyone eat their meals, they do not care if the alarm is going off. They do not care about patients. This is just a place where people come to pretend to work. Please don’t take your loved ones here. 9/27/2024

Fantastic experience: I had my grandma in this facility for 5 months due to an accident she had. She now says those were her best 5 months of her life. Everyone was so nice and very supportive. They helped my grandma with everything she needed to get better. I 100% recommend this facility for you or your loved ones.

Positive experience: Scripps Mercy Hospital, Chula Vista, released me to South Bay Post Acute Care for convalescence and rehabilitation of my broken hip on May 4, 2024. I remained a resident there until May 26, when I was well enough to live at home. I didn’t expect three weeks at the Intercontinental: What can I say, Medicare was paying the bill. Although the facility had seen better days, i.e. my room had a missing section of floor molding and scuff marks on the paint, it was cleaned daily & the staff was competent and friendly. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s) provide most patient care. Nurses dispense medications and provide wound treatment. Although I never had an unsatisfactory encounter with staff, two CNA's, Emerald and Michaela, stand out in my memory: Emerald for her empathy, and Michaela for her “cheerleader-like” enthusiasm. Never saw a doctor, or even a Physician's Assistant. However, a Podiatrist did visit me. When I asked who had requested his services, I didn’t, he told me he was routinely called in to care for patients feet. (This caused a billing problem for me, because the facility assumed I had Medicare part B to pay for it. I don’t, so had to pay the bill. Decent $45 pedicure, though. ;-) The facility made another incorrect assumption about my insurance status, and it cost me $550. I was given, unasked, a single room. When making arraignments for my discharge, I was presented with a bill for $754. A copay of $204 was what I expected, as my stay was one day over what MEDICARE would pay for without a copay. However, the facility assumed I would qualify for MEDICAL, and that they would pick up the extra $550 for the private room. I didn’t qualify (if they had asked, I could have told them I wouldn’t) so the extra $550 was my problem. Patient Meals were excellent. A copy of the month’s planned menu was routinely provided whenever asked for. The dishes offered were varied, well prepared, and, for the most part, served at eating temperature. (A cold pancake here or there, but who’s complaining?) Physical Therapy was another high-point of my stay. Either Alex or Andrew would visit most mornings, to help me with getting dressed & morning hygiene. They taught me new methods necessary for accomplishing daily activities, i.e. getting dressed. (I still put my pants on one leg at a time, but which leg goes in first now makes a difference!) My overall rating for the stay was between three & four stars. Bumped it up to four because of the staff interactions I had.

Fantastic experience: South Bay post acute is such a great community for Chula Vista area . With it being the closet facility to the 5 freeway it’s easy for families from South to visit their loved ones . As soon as you walk in your greeted from reception and there is a clean happy environment. If you are looking for short term physical therapy rehab team will make sure to get your loved one up so they can get strong and go home . Giving facility 5 stars over all for being the best rehab center .

Negative experience: This facility serves inedible food. Very neglectful to clients. Do not recommend!!!

Positive experience: As an employee of SBPAC for 8 plus years, I know that most of us take criticism and Thank You to heart and strive to be better than the day before. Although we are not perfect, we do strive for perfection and we support each other, at every level, to be the best advocates for our residents as well as families of those residents. In short we appreciate not only our residents but the families that help us by letting us know, while you or your family members are with us, how we can improve ours services. Working together is how we, as a whole team, can give the best service possible. So... I give thanks to all my South Bay sisters and brothers as we continue to support each other to be the best advocates we can be. 4 stars is to show that everyone everywhere should leave room for growth.

Fantastic experience: Southbay is an amazing skilled nursing facility, my grandma has unfortunately needed skilled rehab and southbay made us very comfortable, everyone was so nice and helpful. My grandmother was here a little over 2 weeks definitely got the help she so desperately needed. Thank you to the clinical staff for everything they did to get my grandma back home to us. Hopefully we don’t need rehab anymore but if she does we’ll definitely come back.

Negative experience: My brother stay at this facility for over a year. I am his sister.fhis is oñ behalf of the family..my bro 0assed away. After he di3d. The facility staff packed his belongings. Somehow his Christmas presents .sweat suit and pad for w/c. His puddings.. hair product.brush and diapers. These items were there the nite before. This facility was not helpful. Did not apologize l offer to pay for missing finally a month later a .investigation done. Never called monorall back . The family sadden and upset by the facility actions and disrespect shown by the staff .I will never bring a l9ved one here again.

Negative experience: It’s sad to see this place is still open. Staff truly does not care. My uncle stayed here we got to see first hand just how neglectful a staff can be even when family members are visiting 4-5 times a week! My uncle was forgotten in the courtyard by a staff member in the hot Sun for around 30’min. The rooms are filthy and halls smell of discharge. The staff not only is neglectful but combative when approached with concerns or questions. I’ve lived in the South Bay all my life and know many families who’ve unfortunately had loved ones end up in this place who are shocked about the same things. BEWARE OF THE FALSE 5 STAR REVIEWS ! False reviews on here all around 3-4 months ago, notice how most of those 5 star reviews the person only has that one review and no picture. All with similar wording and sentence structure.

Negative experience: My dad recently completed a stay at South Bay Post Acute Care, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. The facility smelled like urine and not like a clean and disinfected place. Additionally, I found the staff to be unresponsive to my dad’s needs and condition, and the treatment program seemed ineffective. His clothes and personal things were always missing. Overall, very unsatisfied…

Negative experience: Es un lugar horrible, hay personas mayores pidiendo ayuda y no le hacen caso tiene una sra gritando que la lleven a su lugar , está frente a una enfermera y la ignoran, no asean bien a los adultos y los enfermeros no bañan a los enfermos pueden durar hasta dos semanas sin bañarlos

Fantastic experience: The PT amd OT team at this facility is amazing. They took great care of my Grandpa there while he was recovering and everytime we would show up the team was so cheerful and helpful. They took their time explaining to us what the treatment plan was and how to care for him once he was discharged. I highly recommend this place if you have a loved one that is looking for a location to stay while recovering from surgery or any major life altering medical condition.

Fantastic experience: The team at South Bay Post Acute is warm and friendly. Every time Iv gone in there to visit, Iv always seen them working hard to make sure their building is clean and festive so their residents can have a comfortable stay while they rehabilitate. I feel they understand, that for most residents, being outside of their own home is difficult so they really try to make it feel cozy so that their residents can focus on completing their rehabilitation and go back home safely.

Fantastic experience: The staff is so friendly and welcoming! The care team is so thoughtful and there if you need anything. The facility is always clean and cutely decorated, making it homey for their patients. Would 10/10 recommend for a loved one!
