Arbour Counseling Services, Haverhill

Fantastic experience: This is an EXCELLENT place! They are compassionate, lots of good information, friendly people leading and assisting in the sessions, etc. When I was at my lowest, one of the staff sat down with me and helped me out of that dark place. All my interactions with those doing the programs or the one who I think is the 'boss' are all great people and I have heard and seen from others in my group the positive results from participating in the program. I grew up in Haverhill, and it was good to get back to it, also. I am looking forward to the rest of my time there. What a blessing when I needed it! (whether your religious or not, "blessing" is the right word for me to use)

Positive experience: Hear me out. Arbour isn't fantastic. Most of the time when we go to a program for mental health we're in a bad way. When I received treatment back in November - December I was angry. I hated the classes, hated going there but I kept doing it. I opened up, and after a few weeks I made some friends in group and was able to work with my therapist as well as the program to stabilize me and in retrospect they helped me, maybe not the best. But the counselors tried hard to help, and listened to my concerns and complaints. The day program gives you structure and a safe place to talk about addiction, suicidal thoughts, and all of the things you can't talk about with others. So yeah, I can see why the one star reviews are here it's rough. I think it's a good start and despite the staff being underpaid they care if you show up and do the work/want to get better.
