Associates In Psychotherapy, LLC: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I have been going to Associates in Psychotherapy for over 2 years and have had nothing but a great experience while going there. Barb at the front desk is caring and compassionate along with the understating and caring of the Therapist Curtis. they have been very understanding if I have to reschedule/miss an appointment. In all, they don't make you feel like a patient or client here. I would absolutely recommend.
Positive experience: My provider is fantastic. Highly recommend. Office and admin staff seem fantastic. I've never had much contact with them beyond checking in at times and billing. They've been great. The practice has one APNP on staff for prescribing, Sandy Meade. She will not see anyone in person as of 2024. This seems to prevent a critical step in the prescribing process, as observation in addition to existing records would be important when prescribing psychiatric medications, ADHD medications, and the like. As for my own experience with Sandy, we met via a 30 minute phone call. She behaved as if she did zero prep for the appointment nor had she read my file at all. She was not interested in my family history or really me at all as a human. When she asked why I thought I needed medications or additional meds management beyond my PCP, I explained the recent trauma I experienced and the exacerbating symptoms that were preventing my therapeutic treatment from being as effective and my quality of life was severely impacted. Sandy's solution to was I should try to get over it. I said what I needed to say regarding my thoughts on her mean spirited and nasty comments and ended the appointment. That was early 2022. It was a damaging experience, further traumatized me, and aided in the continuance of my own Clinician Assisted Trauma. I do not get the sense that this person has an ounce of compassion, active listening skills, or the knowledge needed to appropriately assess, evaluate, and prescribe medications for the purpose of psychiatry in 2024. It is the most terrible experience I've had with a meds provider, or really any provider. I continued my therapy, however, and have been beyond amazed at the support I have received and at how I'm allowed to lead myself through the processes with that support. AMAZING practice for therapy. Great office staff and business manager. Go elsewhere for medication and meds management. Avoid Sandy. Also not sure who Carol is but she supposedly does ADHD evaluations. The few minutes she spent with an immediate family member still has not yielded results and that was a month or more ago. One note to mention is that I don't believe the practice has a solid basis or knowledge of auDHD, autism, or ADHD in women and girls. I give space for the new information available being overwhelming. I'd like to see someone in the practice specializing in the demographic according to the science we have available today.
Positive experience: Very friendly and welcoming staff at the front desk. They will go out of their way to help. I have seen one of their psychologist's for over a decade. She is educated and continues to seek more education, which I believe separates the good from the great. Not only has she been an immense help, but she has also gone above and beyond for me. The only negative is their nurse practitioner that prescribes meds. Not only do I question her ability, but she was also extremely overreaching and made me very uncomfortable. So, I just see my GP for that instead.
