Fantastic experience: Rusk is a very good facility great staff very friendly easy going compassionate all around great place I've heard great things about it that's why I chose it and I'm glad I did no complaints whatsoever just all around great service
Fantastic experience: RUSK is the #1 best place to go to for rehab. We would be here all day if i told you all good experiences i had. If you are serious about getting better or getting improvement you need to go here. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy this is where you need to be. I plan on going back for more help once i master what they have taught me already. My only complaint is the house keeping only came in my room 2 times in the month I was there. Once to mop and once to put all our tooth brushes and mouth wash together which is disgusting. She shouldnt even be touching my belongings ever.

Fantastic experience: The staff and nurses were top notch. I was only there for 10 days and the PT went well and nursing care was good. I was on my second week of hospital food, so I have no great reviews. I felt the meal ordering was not explained, nor if I had any diet restrictions. There times I wanted to order soup of the day but the menu select never said. I was told not to bother as the soup was not good.

Positive experience: so after I left the University hospital of having my legs amputated because of frostbite I started seeing Dr Jones at rusk rehabilitation center so Dr Jones was always pleasant with me explaining. to me what he was doing gave me the option to pick from who I wanted to try to work with getting the leg I was admitted into Rusty rehabilitation on the 7th of October 2024 I did 12 days from the time I got there everyone was really pleasant to me I mean the staff and Melissa she helped me get in there the food was really good I had the nurses seem to be pleasant and they did their job well the therapist I enjoyed you know learning how to take care of the leg and Pat it and walk with it and Alicia and Lauren Ashley they all help me a lot when I walked in when I went in there I was in a wheelchair unable to walk when I left I was able to walk several hundred feet without a crane or a crutch or anything so that's pretty proud of my accomplishments but I was also proud of that fact that I had rushed to show me the way and I would recommend to anyone that has lost a leg on her arm or anything if they want to see how to learn how to take care of it and what to do and what not to do and everything then you should go to rest they've got a good staff team and they don't mind helping you the doctors was there I don't know if I'm saying this right but buoyant he was a pleasant guy and he seem to care a lot about your rehabilitation so once again thank Melissa Dr Jones and all the therapist and nurses they all help me out a lot and I appreciate it and 9 and I also like to say that I picked Hope Drew and the fellas there at Hope seemed to help me out and they made up my prosthetic leg it fits good so good he come to the hospital there to make some adjustments on it just because I didn't think it was right and he seems to care Verizon orthotics and orthopedics and I thank him too I appreciate it everything you all done for me Alicia Lauren Hi doing good okay thank you Sincerely Bruce Fischer

Negative experience: Among other things no apologies, no explanation, no investigation as to why they dropped my husband who was recovering from brain surgery, on his head backward into wheelchair when trying to transfer him from chair to bed. Two staff were involved using a Hoyer lift. I still cry when thinking about this incident that I witnessed! He still had his staples in his incision! No vitals took only asked if he was ok. This was very unprofessional in what they did and how they haven’t yet acknowledged this incident. I see no other recourse but to see a lawyer. I am hurt by the trust I put in them and their silent response.
Fantastic experience: All staff no matter what department in the facility are excellent, therapists and nurses care very much about their patients, I wouldn't be up and walking again if it weren't for the great PTs and OTs.

Fantastic experience: Everyone on Rusk's staff went above and beyond for my mother. They treated our whole family extremely well and worked with us during her 13 day stay. My mother improved quickly with their programs and wonderful therapists! I would highly recommend Rusk Rehab Center.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about the wonderful care I received at Rusk! From techs to housekeepers, dieticians and staff, therapists, and nurses, I was treated with respect, courtesy, and encouragement. Everyone was focused on helping me recover my health, whether by therapy, meds, or great food. I hesitate to name individuals, because so many had a positive impact on me, but I must give a shout-out to my therapists Jenn and Nicole for their untiring “You can do it” attitude and challenging me to do more than the day before that enabled me to walk out of the hospital after three weeks, when I had come in unable to even stand on my own. “Prayer, therapy, and excellent care” is the standard at Rusk. I am forever grateful for being there after my spinal injury.

Positive experience: Most of the nurseing staff are very profesanal and friendly but the patent advacates are lazy and tend to be very demeaning to their cliants and the nurce supervisor I had became very threating and verbaly abusive even going so far as to raise her fist like she was going to syrike me

Negative experience: My husband was there for 2 weeks and we had to pull him out of there due to staff. Staff was rude and hateful. Argued with my husband over a bath. The aide said he looked clean well sorry but looking and smelling clean are to different things in my book. Meds were late almost everyday. If we had read the reviews before we went we would have not ever gone there. We did report all this to the ceo and the charge nurse but all we got was lip service from them. Never again will anyone from my family go back there. And he ended up with a stage 2 wound! Not happy at all with them.

Negative experience: I had a very poor experience with this facility and the entire process in connection with MU. I hope this review saves someone the money, grief, and time. This was beyond a stressful and costly experience that did nothing to help me and I truly hope to save someone from the same mess I dealt with. MU neurology and Rusk lost paperwork three different times, one time after they had already called to schedule me. Very disorganized. They don't include all fees in their "good faith statement." When you call to inquire about the missing information, they just say "sorry" without any attempt to fix the issue. There will be surprise fees, so be aware that planning ahead, financially, is impossible with this facility. The staff in the concussion clinic were rude, distracted on personal matters, and had very little knowledge of the office they worked in. Despite my file stating I needed to be contacted for a follow-up, I was never contacted and when I called multiple times over the period of five weeks, I was told by the staff I needed to wait to be contacted by the doctor. I was directed to use the online portal for messaging, which I did, three times, and I never got a response with that method either. Come to find out, they should have been scheduling me all along, but clearly had no clue what they were doing. It was quite frustrating and the nurse practitioner DID apologize to me without me even asking about it because she didn't even get my messages until the morning of my follow-up, which I found a little odd, since so much weight was put on that form of contact. Chamelle March was the NP treating me and was very unpleasant. Rude, impatient, constantly interrupting, unclear, and talks down to her patients like they're idiots. When corrected on information she assumes about you, she tries to make a quick excuse instead of just listening to the answers you give when she asks questions. After doing one appointment with an MRI from an outside source, she told me I definitely had something going on, but "she wasn't going to chase answers for me." She threw medicine at me, which made me much worse. At that point, I paid any outstanding balance and will never go back. $2,000+ later and the only answer I got was that one of my eyes was slightly off (which I already knew since it was blown out in a car crash). Very disappointing and a very frustrating process from start to finish. Please save yourself the grief and steer clear of the entire Neurology department at MU.
Negative experience: They fail to tell u until u get that that under 16 can not go upstairs so if ur loved on is stuck in bed ur just sol and they say they want family to attend therapy but only if it's during visiting hours. There is so much miscommunication.

Positive experience: My wife, 47 yr old stroke patient, was not impressed with Rusk! Positives: 1: Therapists were great. 2. Physicians were good. 3. Day shift nursing staff was good. Staff was considerate, compassionate, motivated, and understanding. Negatives: 1: Night shift was a nightmare 2: nursing was inconsiderate, ignored call light, cursed patients, degraded my wife and Refused cares. 3: Refused to assist her out of bed, 6pm, after skin assessment. 4:Refused requested PRN meds. 5: Refused to assist in cleaning herself after staff ignored call light. 6: Allowed male patient to wander in other rooms accosting female patients. 7: Yelling at patients, I heard this while on the phone with wife, to shut the fu— up. The results were my wife felt unsafe, marginalized because of age, depressed, anxiety! When I chose to pick her up the nurse at the desk was curt and unfriendly offering no explanations to why my wife wanted discharged. The nurse also bluntly and curtly stated to me, standing next to my wife, that she couldn’t come back to Rusk! If you are not elderly I would suggest finding place that is friendly to younger patients. Because once night shift comes on the friendly and safe environment evaporates very quickly for younger patients!

Negative experience: It's been a frustrating road. I've had rude nurses laugh at me trying to get help, I've had them tell me the only reason I'm here is to help my husband, which I have, but if I'm going to do all the work then why are they here for? I've been told I'm supposed to get trained for transferring and other stuff but I don't feel like i was, I felt like I was doing a lot of it in the moment and trying to figure it out on my own. I was there 3.5 weeks before I was explained what the gate belt was, even though they insisted I use it, "to help catch him" not "pull him in the right direction of his bed, chair, toilet, etc. If you stay they expect you to do most of the stuff, even if you aren't experienced, and get an attitude if you request assistance. I'm still shocked i was laughed at.

Negative experience: The receptionist is rude and moody. She threatened to call security on us because we were asking questions why we couldn’t alternate 2 people then have 2 other people go back after the other 2 got back ON FATHERS DAY and she said we couldn’t do that even on this special of a day to my father. We had to ask for the supervisor and she was kind enough to let us alternate. Thanks to that lady and I hope that the receptionist gets fired or talked to about that.

Positive experience: The staff here were lovely when my girlfriend was staying for a month. I slept on a cot many nights and they brought me breakfast and always were relaxed about me laying in her bed and bending rules. Made the month better than it could have been.

Fantastic experience: I broke my back and was paralyzed from the waist down. Theses guys really stepped up. Cause I was pretty grumpy and fairly obnoxious lol. But MAN what a team! they educated me on all kinds of things that still today play a role in my life. I got my legs back in a short time with a great thanks to the exercise equipment and physical therapy professionals that helped me through th hardest time in my life

Fantastic experience: Occupational therapis Katie Armstrong is top notice. A delightful lady to work with who wants you to achive but is willing to let you do so at your pace. She puts your best interest first. She remembers all things you discuss and lets you talk about things other than therapy. She omits she learns so very much from her patients. Do as she wishes and all will go great and you will not just feel like a number. Katie is just what my wife and I needed. We also liked all doctors, nurses and techs at Rusk.

Fantastic experience: I was having issues with balance and a swimmy" head caused by my inner ear. My ENT doctor sent me to Lindsey at Rusk. She performed several maneuvers and test. She was great! She took time to explain causes and possible reasons for what I was experiencing. I always felt I was on my way to recovery after my visits. Lindsey is a great asset to the rehab team. I highly recommend Rusk Rehab.

Negative experience: I am ending my almost 2 week stay Friday. The only thing I enjoy about rusk is going to therapy otherwise it seems like the nurses tend to focus on older folks. They need something for their patients to do in their rooms other than just sitting in bed.

Negative experience: Slipped in dpoa paperwork after admitting a patient for supposedly being incompetent and notorized it. They knew it was too late for the papers to be signed, but insisted on it anyway. They take elders rights away without defined ability to do so. What they did was disgusting and wrong. They gave power to a power hungry psycho and thry had no right to.
Negative experience: My sister had her leg amputated at University Of Columbia & we thought it was great idea to send her where she would learn how to take care of herself. First night she was at Rusk there was not an Operator to take calls so I could check on my sister. Worried all night her being moved to Rusk No One Answered Phone. As time went on trying to be positive for my sister the Nurses were so incompetent got her stump in bed rail 2 times. So I asked for Administration & no one would give me a name in administrative. So Robin in HR started taking my complaints. She than told me I needed to speak to Mary Smo head nurse. She was short with my Sister & myself said they was trying to give my sister the best care. Last 2 days now they have not changed her bandages on her stump. I know it has infection but they are unwilling to tell us the truth. My sister has appointment tomorrow @ University & she will not go back to Rusk.I also feel they are giving her to much medicine @ night she can’t hold a conversation & her words are slurred. I don’t feel they have my sister best interest. Nurses want to argue instead of doing they’re job. I used to be a CNA I know how to care for someone. The weekend shift @ Rusk do not practice patients or compassion

Positive experience: I was not a patient here but I visited a friend and he didn't have any horrible things to say.
Fantastic experience: They give you good food you have soda Around the Clock you have to go to the cafeteria and get it if you're able but they are private rooms is only very few people that get them but they do have them they do have very good food very good workout wonderful people to help you and they're always happy to help and you feel very welcome right when you come into the doors I have nothing but good things to say about this place I've been there it's a very nice facility
