Fantastic experience: The people, all of them, were helpful & expert in their service (PT, OT, nurses, doctors, food services with delicious & variety of foods, janitorial duties, & others). They really care about you as an individual & that when you leave, you are able to function in order to take care of yourself.

Fantastic experience: The services of the staff was great, definitely worth the stay of my rehabilitation from my stroke which at first I was very concerned and nervous that the staff was not going to be great, but this staff worked hard with me and I pushed myself towards not only my goal but theirs to. Fantastic experience: The vigorous program at Encompass is exceptional. I cannot imagine going anywhere else. The days are full-you arent just sitting around day after day. Victoria, our case manager, went above & beyond to help coordinate continuing care for my mom. I highly recommend Encompass for anyone who wants to get stronger faster!

Fantastic experience: I’m posting for my husband who has said he had a good experience- The entire staff was kind and addressed all of his needs. He was given a schedule of all therapies the day before so he’d know what to expect & family could plan visitations. The facility was always clean, the staff was very friendly, and made sure he had everything he’d need at home. Overall He felt good about being discharged.

Positive experience: The facility was clean and the food was decent. With there being 2 people per room, it was crowded and not much privacy when visitors come. Most of the Staff was nice , but I don't think I got as much pt as I should. Was supposed to have 3 hours a day. Did go down to therapy room and maybe 30 min.of supervised therapy then basically just sat in chair or practiced rolling myself in the wheelchair. I was there 2 weeks and when I left was not walking. The Prisma home health staff were surprised and got me walking. The most disconcerting thing was the day I left. They wheeled me to the door to meet my ride. The nurse asked the driver where my wheelchair was. The driver said she was told I was ambulatory. So they secured me on the back seat with seat belts. Then the driver asked for 86.00 to pay for the ride. Said she was told I had cash. Well, no I didn't and how would they know if I had cash? So had to give her a check for something I was not told about. Then when my insurance company filed a grievance about this they said they told me. The last thing I felt was totally unprofessional was as I got closer to going home, staff kept asking if I were going to fill out my survey. I said yes. They, to the person , told me to give them a 9 or 10. I was not impressed.

Fantastic experience: I have had a wonderful experience here at Encompass Health. My nurses, and tech's have gone above, and beyond what they truly had to. My therapists have been a God send for me. With Ms Charlotte(PT) and Eric(OT) I have gotten much stronger, and have even learned quite a lot about my nutrition, and have also learned more about trip hazards, and how and try NOT to fall. Fantastic experience: Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital did wonders in helping me with my recovery from my stroke. Everyone was very compationate in they're care. They saw what you needed work on and focused on those areas to get you home and set up there with what you you need. Thank you Care team for everything! Oh yes let's not forget the two that taught me the most were my pt and ot Charlotte and Eric. Thanks to their persistent, well let's say they both left a lasting impression on me in holding on to things so I don't fall and taking my time. I'm so thankful to those two for everything I learned. Fantastic experience: My experience at Encompass Rehab Hospital was very pleasant. All the employees and staff went above and beyond to bring me back to good health so that I could return home. All that I came into contact with were very professional but personable at the same time. It was truly like being with family during my stay.

Fantastic experience: The Physycians, Nursing staff and Therapists treated me with kindness and genuinely cared about my progress. I felt more like a Guest than a Patient. Every request I made was cheerfully granted and this sped my healing.

Fantastic experience: Every person at EHR was wonderful; Eric and Charlotte were amazing. The results of their guidance are very apparent once we got home. If the opportunity arises this rehabilatation hospital will definitely be recommended.

Positive experience: I am truly thankful for the care I received at Encompass. The nursing staff was exceptional. They were very compassionate and attentive to my needs. The PT and OT staff were excellent! They helped me to regain my strength by pushing me to the max. Because of their exercise routines, I have become more functional at home again. My case worker, Ashley, did an excellent job coordinating my care with my other healthcare providers. From the time I left the hospital until I made it home, she was very involved in my treatment plan and I really appreciate her for making it such a smooth transition. I have received several follow up calls to make sure that I was doing ok. The only negative that I have is that there are no private rooms and unfortunately my roommate required much attention and assistance throughout the day and night that left me with many sleepless nights. But, overall. It was an excellent experience and I highly recommend this facility for anyone who needs rehab.

Fantastic experience: Encompass Health Rehabilitation center is such an incredible place for restoring hope especially for people who have fallen sick or whatever health conditions one might face. During my two weeks of stay at this facility, I enjoyed every moment and all of the services that were rendered to me. I was constantly visited by all the doctors and nurses ensuring that I was okay and doing great with my health. I deeply admired all my Therapist for the different exercises I was given which gave me hope of speedy recovery. Thanks to the entire staff for job well done and is my prayer to continue in this direction. My goal was achieved.

Fantastic experience: Encompass nursing staff was exceptional. MJ’s assistance and motivation was encouraging. Brandon the case manager was very responsive to our needs. Charlotte and Eric were encouraging and assisted me in meeting my goals. All the rest of the staff went above my expectations in caring for my needs. The food, while not home cooking, was pretty decent.

Fantastic experience: My 91 year old dad was recently discharged from Encompass after 17 days of rehab. While at Encompass we could not have asked for better care. Everyone was so compassionate and patient with him as they helped him prepare to transition back home. We were always welcome to observe and participate in therapy sessions. The entire staff from doctors to food services were so accommodating and available to answer any questions..We were extremely pleased with his care and the progress he made while at Encompass.

Fantastic experience: My 91 year old grandfather had a wonderful experience at Encompass! The staff was compassionate, attentive to his needs, and ensured he received the best care. My family is very grateful that he was able to safely discharge home, returning to his life with my grandmother. I highly recommend Encompass for all inpatient rehab needs!

Fantastic experience: Encompass was able to take me after 14 days in the hospital and provide the care I needed to get back on my feet. Notable staff members include my OT Meg, my PT Kyle and other therapists who stepped in with them. My day nurse, Brett went over and beyond to explain things and care for me. Cedric Adams was very kind and personable as well. All the care I received was exceptional. My favorite gals were the meal taker and room cleaner. Super friendly! Do hope I don’t ever need these services again however.

Positive experience: My father has been a patient there for a little over a week or so now. Overall things have been "good". I'm unsure how the nursing schedule is created but it appears as if he's had a different nurse everyday. All of the therapists have been excellent, very knowledgeable and considerate of my father's needs from a therapy standpoint. Now here's where the 3 stars come in....my dad is a little over 6feet tall and the bed he was originally in was uncomfortable, as a result, we requested a longer bed. We requested this bed 3 different times. We were eventually told that the bed had to be "ordered". About a week later, he did get a new bed. The other issue is customer service. The lady that works at the desk in the lobby, usually there during the week and daytime. She's not the most personable person. Her greetings are usually dry or there's no greeting at all. Sometimes she just looks up waiting on the patient's name to be mentioned in a very uninviting manner. Visitors and families are already carrying the concerns of their loved ones being away from home, pleasantries are so important during those tough times. Those greetings really set the tone/atmosphere for the visit. I've encountered 2 security guards (male and female) during check in and they were both pleasant and inviting. Other than that, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give the experience this far at 6.5.Also the food is terrible.

Negative experience: Literally the worst Rehabilitation Center ever! If you love your family do not send them there. They did not care about anything the family would try to talk to them about & after 3 weeks they want you out of there weather you well or not.

Negative experience: My loved one was here for a few weeks after a stroke. The PT and nursing staff were great. The social workers, especially the head case manager, were not helpful at all and lacking serious amounts of brain matter. Question every decision they make because they have no clue what they are doing.

Fantastic experience: I was very well taken care of and in good hands. I would definitely recommend anyone to your great facility. The only thing I would say that needs improvement is the food, but that’s it.

Negative experience: A representative from this facility spoke with me about my mother being recommended by her doctors to come to EHRH. At that time my siblings and I had made no decision. I told her I would get back to her . Had a talk with my siblings about it and decided to use a different facility. Once I told the rep from EHRH, she began doing what she want . She started making decisions without our consent. 0 stars .

Positive experience: The staff was mostly skilled and kind. The worst was the food. It was awful. I finally just ate toast and drank coffee and tea. I know Shasta drinks are cheaper but they are a poor substitute. I did loose weight there.

Fantastic experience: If you need rehab in Columbia area I highly recommend this facility! It is remarkable! Staff is fabulous. Efficient, gentle loving but successful rehabilitation for the worst situations. So much love shared by this staff from kitchen to therapists to physicians. If you can be returned to normal and want to be returned as much as you can or taught new ways to do things, this is the place to be! Its not enough to say thank you but thank you to all the staff for what you did for me. I pray for you all daily.

Fantastic experience: Overall a great experience with my husbands care there. The rebab is basically a facility to get patients ready for therapy… it’s not a therapy facility itself but a transitional step to the next type of care. It’s an immaculate facility and the food was incredibly good for a hospital. I personally tried it and they provided patients with very good meals. Everyone is very helpful and easy to work with willing to assist however they can. Nice wardrobes in each room for personal items. Brandon stood out me the most as he is just very good at what he does. Returns calls and messages timely. Has the perfect disposition for his role always making me feel calm and reassured with issues with my husband, such as getting him to his Drs. appointment while there. A great facility I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: My father in laws stay at Encompass of Columbia could not have went better. He has been in and out of healthcare facilities and this one is hands down the best in the area. From therapy to nursing to dietary they all performed admirably and we couldn’t ask for more from an organization.

Fantastic experience: Never expecting that my father would have bypass surgery, while still in the hospital, we decided he would need rehab. The case manager at MUSC Downtown recommended Encompass. From the moment we arrived we never had a second thought that this was the place for dad to get his strength back. The nurses, tech, food services, physical therapist ( Ashley) occupational therapist (Carrie), Doctor Pye, and especially Sara Johnson ( case worker) were outstanding. Thank you to each and everyone of you for the care that you gave Dad and the tools to become mobile,(which was his main goal).

Fantastic experience: I would give this place a high rating because they were very caring and did their jobs well when my mom was adjusting with having one leg. When my mom left the place in west columbia with an infection.

Fantastic experience: Very pleasant staff. Clean facility.

Negative experience: Encompass rehabilitation provides substandard care to their patients. The beds don't work most of the time. Maintenance had to be called several times before they switched out the bed for another bed that worked for about 2 days. No one ever did anything about the second bed that broke. The nurses have attitudes and will not call the doctor when requested multiple times. It takes them a ridiculous amount of time to answer patient call buttons. Medications are often administered late. The staff needs some serious training and the senior staff makes excuses for the poorly trained nurses caring for patients in the floor. I would NEVER allow another loved one to be treated at this facility. I hope future families will do their research before placing your loved ones in the care of this facility.

Positive experience: My father received very good care. One of his nurses quickly identified he was having issues and dealt with them promptly. Thanks to her critical thinking skills, interventions were initiated promptly!

When my sister was first admitted at Encompass she was not able to perform her daily activities without assistance such feed herself, bathe herself, walk, nor stand without someone assisting her. However, 3 weeks later she's able to do most of those activities by herself. Their therapy team is awesome.

Fantastic experience: I spent 14 days here. I came in unable to stand,walk, use my arms and hands. Lungs were damaged and on oxygen. I left able to stand, walk, use my hands and arms. Lungs improving still, oxygen being weaned off. Therapist are great. They helped me tremendously, I had a positive attitude which makes a difference in every aspect. Including how I was treated. I noticed that the patients who struggled had bad attitudes, and were rude. Just saying. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I pushed myself to get better and they showed me the way. Fantastic experience: Dad fractured his hip and spent one week in Baptist Hospital, two weeks in Encompass. Care was extraordinary. He recovered very nicely for a 92 year old and enjoys life today at Forest Pines Retirement Center. I thought therapy was the key to his recovery - and obviously tender, loving care from everyone. I met a couple of my Citadel friends while there, and they recovered well also from similar accidents. Day one, the hospital administrator came to see us. Now that is impressive! Thank you, Encompass Health.

Negative experience: Cant get anyone to answer the phone! Only two stars because my dad said his first two days was good and he liked it. Haven’t been able to even get the operator to answer the phone. I’m coming down on Wednesday. Haven’t been able to speak to my dad in 3 days.

Negative experience: The therapists were wonderful and patient. Some of the nurses were great. The techs were okay. If you're family member has a long-term illness, this is not the place for them. Therapies are frequent, and if the patient is too weak or tired, they will be discharged. Even if it is dangerous to do so. No family member of mine will ever be a patient in this facility again.

Fantastic experience: This is an amazing hospital the staff is absolutely wonderful they push you to be great even when you're ready to give up they are knowledgable and care about their patients it was hard bit worth every moment of pain

Fantastic experience: We had a rough start with some employees but as soon as I brought the concerns up with management, all problems were resolved in less than 24 hours. Thank you SO much for caring for my mom so well.

Negative experience: Your telephone operator needs to have a little compassion. She is very rude.

Negative experience: Spent two weeks there after a stroke. I was physically assaulted by a rude nurse tech who kept kicking her knees into the back of my wheelchair. Got nothing but backlash from techs and nurses alike when I complained to my case manager. The assigned doctor did not treat my pain with anything but ineffective opioids, when the problem turned out to be nerve damage. They discharged me barely able to limp along with a walker. No aftercare offered. The devil take them all!

Negative experience: Awfully terrible in the Columbia location. The first night my mother stayed here, this place refused to help her go to the restroom. The nurses came in to her room only to cut off her call button. My mom cried all night, can you imagine. The CEO assured that my mom would have help to the restroom every two hours as the doctors ordered. The nurses are very mean and rude and they never want to be bothered! No one wanted to be bothered and no one was pleasant. You will usually find the nurses outside the rooms in a hustle gissipung about their paitients in a negative way. The refused to assist my mom with bath time so we had to have a family member with her around the clock to make sure she was cared for. Either there’s a problem with the CEO’s Chris leadership, the staff or the organization as a whole but this place isn’t for the sick. This place is totally negligent, extremely unorganized and very unprofessional. The doctors orders were never carried out. The gave my mom medicine one night at 1 am and she was directed to have her meds by 8pm because of her COPD, My mom almost chocked to death. Basically this place appears to always be short of staff, and they have no real desire to assist their patients. The CEO gave us his cell phone number but never answered his phone or address his messages. My mom has been here 3 weeks now and I strongly don’t recommend this place to anyone that will need assistance or care. Don’t trust your love ones to this hell hole. I would rate this place with any stars, This place needs a total investigation!

Negative experience: I pray our experience here this weekend is not going to be like this the rest of the time he has to be here for rehab. No privacy at all. Two of the techs took a patient to the bathroom with the door wide open with just a brief on. Not just once but multiple times. They sit in front of the rooms on their phone and talking with each other about their personal business. My fiancé is in the neuro section and the tray was left on his bedside table. Came in this morning and the tray and his meds is sitting on his bedside table and he was asleep. Yesterday I gave him a bath and the linens and trash were left in the room from 9 am until the night shift came in at 7pm. I work in healthcare so I know the regulations and residents rights. You call to check on your family and the nurses don’t answer the phones. Lord if he didn’t need this therapy I would take him home. I heard the therapy department is great and I’m trying really hard to hold on.

Negative experience: Awful place!!!! My mother was sent to Healthsouth for rehabilitation in November 2017. The first day in there was not pleasant and for the entire 3 weeks, it just got worse and worse. The day she came home she fell before she got in the house and had to return to the hospital and be sent to another rehab center a week later. Their "patient care" is not good. If I had known that Healthsouth was this bad, I never would have sent her there. Families be warned!!!! NOT A GOOD REHABILITATION PLACE FOR YOU!!!

Fantastic experience: These guys are absolutely amazing at their jobs. I was here for two weeks due to breaking most of the bones in my leg as well as fracturing vertebrae in my back and as such could barely move. Within two weeks I was able to get around under my own power again. The therapists are incredible to say the very least and always help you maintain a positive attitude in what could be the grimmest of situations. The doctors are also wonderful at responding to your needs and are quite personable...a far cry from most hospital doctors. You are in good hands here. Have no illusions, they will work you incredibly hard but it is all for a good purpose. Without their help, I would not be able to start living my life normally again. Thanks Health South.

Fantastic experience: My brother went here a year ago after having a stroke. The staff was wonderful. At first I was scared for him but was assured he was in great hands. He stayed for exactly 20 days and today is as strong as ever. While there he was also able to attend our yearly beach trip which was really great because everyone was so happy to see him. He loved the therapy he received and bragged on the food. I recommend all of my family members needing therapy to this facility. My favorite thing about his care was his last day, his shirt said today is the day . Made my heart happy. Thank everyone for such a wonderful experience for brother. My whole family appreciates you.
