Orchard View: Reviews
Negative experience: My husband was not treated well. He was there 3 days and he fell out of bed. They called said he was ok. The food was mostly carbs and his sugars were always in the 400 he was diabetic. He had blood clot come up and his heart stopped. They did cpr and when ambulance took him to hospital the nurse told me they got pulse. My husband died that day and he was only there 8 days. He was 70 years old. Don’t take loved ones there. They said doctor came there I never saw one.
Fantastic experience: Orchard View, the place we chose to trust with my precious Mother, could not be more trustworthy than it already is! We, brought our mother to Georgia 2.5 years ago because there was no place in Alabama that we felt was suitable for her condition. Our first impression of Orchard View was 'friendly' as we walked into the rehab facility and were greeted by Tracey Jackson, the receptionist. Our immediate impression was how well kept everything appeared. Before we had hardly made introductions, a very friendly house keeper, named Destiny Foster, walked by, hand held high, waving and singing, "Hi!"Thus began our wonderful experience at Orchard View. Our Mother was initially placed in Rehab for continued rehabilitation from pneumonia. After a couple of weeks, she was moved from excellent rehab care, past the friendly and 'care-giving' Margaret Caldwell, main receptionist, down the elevator to a dementia hall where she continued to receive excellent healthcare from Tonya her nurse with CNAs. The unit was eventually closed and they moved Mother to Grove Terrace, instead of sending her to another facility. Mama and our whole family fell in love with Grove Terrace! Marilyn Dozier, the floor manager, always has a constant calmness that amazes me, and always answers any questions or concerns about the precious residents on that floor. She holds frequent meetings with families for any health care concerns or updates of resident care plans. Mother's head nurse, Leisa Merritt, is adamantly professional with all the residents and families they are her number 1 priority in every way! Head medicine assistant, Theresa Gallivan, and nurse Mary Holmes are quite a team organizing and assisting with medications and care plans. There are so many professional, caring and loving nurses, for instance Lakever Williams, the other full time nurse on Grove Terrace, and Monique Shabezz, who are totally devoted and faithful. They serve during regular hours and even as emergency nurses. I have found there are no nurses that do not give their best at Orchard View. There are also many caring CNAs, some employed by Orchard View and some from supporting agencies, however, I must mention two special CNA's that have gone far beyond their job to bless all the residents, Cece Seldon and Shantagoes Marshall. Personally, they have both consistently 'lit up' our Mother's face with their presence, facial and verbal expressions, in addition to their gentle consistent skills and have both been faithful in their hard work efforts. With all the CNAs, whoever they may be, they have been steady in their capabilities and work under the professional leadership on each floor, carng out Orchard View's unswerving and strict 'care guidelines.' The Activities Department is an awesome group led by Shannon Angel. They continually engage the residents with happy and cheerful inspiration! If needed, they offer FaceTime visits (thank you Donna Phillips and Shantia Terrell), with your family member when you cannot come to them. They have church services, games, exercises, popcorn and ice cream parties and dance, laugh and sing with the residents and with open arms, welcome volunteers. Laundry is dependable with gently washing and returning clean clothes, hanging them up on a daily basis and picking up the soiled ones and the cafeteria team works hard to prepare for each resident and their required diet. I know it is hard to place a family member away from home, but, for most, it is necessary. As a volunteer for over 60 years, I have to say that Orchard View is by far one of the most perfect Nursing Home/Skilled Nursing facilities that I have ever been in, (to include Alabama, Florida and Georgia). It is sure worth checking out for the future of a loved one or yourself.
Negative experience: This is not a good place to bring your grandparents. Because if they are sleep they won't even wake them up to feed them. Half of the CNA's are not friendly. Especially the night nurses. This is not a place for people that just trying to get a check and have no compassion caring for others.
Negative experience: I would not suggest bringing a loved one to Orchard View in Columbus ga they neglected my farther every night left his colonastumy bag leaking for hours I had to change it my self he fell out of the bed they promised hand rails for weeks nurse told him if he fell out again he would have to go somewhere else they don’t have nurses they have clock people getting paid for abusing elders I personally saw this Totally Disgusting I’m moving him out of there today
Negative experience: Need to hire more CNA'S and people need to pay more attention to their patients. Need to be accountable and responsible.
Negative experience: DO NOT WALK-RUN from this hell hole! The staff conduct is disgusting to patients! My relative was here and a CNA there began giving her verbal abuse, and being rough with her after an incident, where the worker asked to buy a ring that my relative had on her hand. When she told her that she did not want to sell it, she still pressed on and then when she realized that that was not going to work, she began the mistreatment. She had an attitude spoke disgustingly to her. It was reported to administration with zero correction. This place needs a staff overhaul and I am considering reporting to nursing board. Stay far far away from here!
Negative experience: Day shift is good Night shift just leave the patients calling them all night. The night crew is rude and lazy.
Negative experience: This place is horrible they neglect the patients with dementia my grandmother stay with wounds an beds sores there staff is horrible an the owner of this place need to be lock up for how many people have died here because of the neglect of the staff I hope an pray this place close an the people who families been neglected get compensation for there love ones
Negative experience: It's taking me 4 yrs to finally write a review. The only reason it deserves 1Star is because it is clean. The worst care for patients is the Rehab department, Physical Therapy HORRIBLE. THERE WERE MAYBE two Nurses that were OK, the Head Nurse needs to go into a different profession. I could write a book Occupational Therapy was great the rest very bad. They leave patients yelling for help, they put food trays against the Wall when patient can't walk or reach it. I was there Every day from 8AM to 7PM FOR the 21 days my Dad was there. There is NO Physical Therapy. I would never wish that place on anyone. They made my Dad's last days miserable
Negative experience: This has taken me 3 years to write this review. In 2020 my father was admitted for rehab. He couldn’t feed himself or reach for something to drink. I was with him as well as my siblings. When Covid started I was not allowed to be with him. It took 2 days for my father to be sent to ER. He was so dehydrated, the Dr. Was appalled. My father died in the hospital of a blood clot. When he was first admitted and we were there, the staff was very attentive to all his needs and very sweet to him. Do not let your family member near this place unless you can be with them often.
Fantastic experience: Very nice facility, excellent services, and a caring staff. COVID free facility! They cared for my Grandmother and the family couldn't ask for better care given to her. I want to especially thank Mrs. Anita and Nurse Jennifer for their care they provided to my Grandmother Ellen.
Negative experience: This is not a very good place to put anyone for Alzheimer's and dementia they do not take care of the patients and they cannot tell their not being taken care of they killed my loved one by not taking care of the needs that that patient needed
Fantastic experience: Had a Aunt here for rehab. The family was very happy with her care.. my church visit every other Thursday, I am very impressed with this facility.
Negative experience: This is not a very good place to put anyone for Alzheimer's and dementia they do not take care of the patients and they cannot tell their not being taken care of they killed my loved one by not taking care of the needs that that patient needed
Negative experience: Add I think the charge nurse name Maya need to be replace ASAP horrible
Negative experience: My best friend's grandmother had a terrible experience at the rehab side of this place. Someone should really file elder abuse charges for the amount of neglect she experienced. It is unbelievable.
Negative experience: My boss's mother told the nursing staff she did not like the food and was told if she did not like the food not to eat it. They did not offer her anything different. She also has a wound and was told by the night nursing staff that basically it was not her job to change the bandage in which it was supposed to be changed on a daily basis. On several occasions she rang the bell for assistance to the restroom, in which it took the staff more than 20 minutes to attend to her. Before she received a recliner she asked several times for someone to adjust the legs on the wheelchair for comfort and swelling, well needless to say , I am the one that ended up adjusting the legs of the wheelchair. Most oftenothan not her dinner has been fries, sandwiches, or hot dogs. I would not take my animal or any family member to this facility. My boss' s mother has been treated terribly at this facility.
Fantastic experience: I am very happy with the care my mom is getting. They are very attentive and take great care of her. I go quite often to visit and as of yet I have never been disappointed. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic experience: My grandmother lives here and we absolutely love it. They take wonderful care of her and i am so so happy with her care. Orchard view is such a positive place for her.
Negative experience: Very Disappointing
Fantastic experience: This place is awesome! The nurses and other staff members go out of their way to take care of my Mom. There's always a smiling face to assist her. The building is clean and very well maintained. I've had lunch with her several times. The food is very good and the kitchen staff treat her like she's part of "the family". Her physical therapist is just... Awesome! Ian takes such good care of her, she wants to stay in physical therapy all the time! If you have a loved one that's needs rehabilitation or long term living, this is the place!
Fantastic experience: If I needed to be in a nursing home Orchard View would be the one
Fantastic experience: MY UNCLE IS THERE AND HE LOVES IT, AND WE HAVE VISITED SEVERAL TIMES W/ O THEM KNOWING AND EVERYONE IS POLITE, NICE, AND IT IS CLEAN. ALSO, VERY HELPFUL!
