St. Francis Hospital: Reviews
Negative experience: Went to er for what was kidney stones. Asked when we needed a doctors excuse for told them until Monday they said okay. Didn't tell us it wasn't until Monday so called Sunday was promised to be able to pick up the doctors excuse for Monday on Monday (today) waited half an hour for the paper which said the wrong date then waited another hour for them to tell us this is all they can approve. Repeated failures at communication and if a hospital can't communicate that's dangerous and can screw up people's livelihoods. I have never been more angry at a hospital to the point I'd consider going to a different one that I also know is awful.

Negative experience: Sorry ass security guards didn’t even wanna walk an elderly man to the elevator. Omg I hate these lazy young ppl. Staff very unprofessional and facility is filthy. However, please don’t think for one second piedmont is any better. You’re better off driving to Atlanta

Negative experience: A doctor here wanted to blame minimal marijuana use for a stomach infection and ulcers. While carrying my wife inside we passed right by a guy smoking a blunt standing right by the doors leading inside. Nurses were ok and surprisingly the security guards were the nicest.

Negative experience: At present I am in St. Francis Emergency. (12/28-29). 8 hours now. I am alone in a 8 bed bay with No nursing staff!! ALONE. No call light . It feels like a restaurant when the waiters go home. The space where i was placed was filthy from the previous patient. His breathing tx apparatus and name tag page still in space as well as syringe cap in the chair where i was told to sit. There was also a cup with ice left from that patient. This is unacceptable as well as a HIPPA violation! Nurse gave me meds without wearing gloves. Xray technician entered a patient space earlier wearing gloves but reached down to push the trashcan out of the way and continued to do a procedure with gtube. I have literally a list of other observations and photos of unacceptable circumstances. I have been in 3rd world countries for medical care( Mexico. India , Senegal Africa) much cleaner and better patient care. I will present the entire observation to someone who can do something about this hospital. Very unfortunate. Columbus deserves better.

Fantastic experience: ALL of the employees at St Francis Hospital were awesome, very professional and very caring!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Melba. We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share it with our team.
Negative experience: Don't come here if you don't absolutely have to. They will completely forget about you and ignore you. My wife came in extremely dehydrated. They hooked her up to an IV, but undid it almost immediately for another test. They forgot to hook it back up and left her alone. After finally asking someone at the nurse's station, they treated me condescendingly (of course) and said they'd do something. After another half-hour, I had to stand in the hallway and flag someone down to insist they hook her back up. Hours later, we're still here.

Fantastic experience: In Columbus, this is my go to hospital. Over the years, they have been professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and trustworthy. They have been able to do what specialists couldn't and provide information and insight about the issue and steps to address. Thanks for all you do!
Hello Chris. We appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Fantastic experience: I recently had 5 bypasses at St Francis Columbus Ga . My experience from start to finish can only be rated as A+ . The doctors and nurses and technicians were very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me along the process . I would highly recommend the St Francis Thoracic Surgery Center to anyone who needs it. Sincerely, Lee Taylor
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Lee. We greatly appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share your kind words with our team.
Negative experience: I cannot speak on St. Francis as a whole; however, I give a 1 star and wish I could give a zero for the ER. NP Anthony Hollifield was very unprofessional and rude when I needed care. He didn't listen or treat me with care or concern. I was discharged by him and later admitted at Piedmont for a serious illness. Perhaps he needs to change professions because his behavior isn't for Healthcare.

Negative experience: So far in the er questions go unanswered. Can't get a drink of water unless the surgeon talking to you about a procedure brings ot in. Can't get help for an 84 year old man to be adjusted in his bed.

Negative experience: No reply!! Just another reason for a very low rating. I’ve done everything with no explanation!!! What kind of company is this. How can you terminate with no reason except he say she say. Excuse me!! Why was I terminated with no legitimate explanation? Just had a great evaluation!! What kind of side show when all the surgeons are quitting!! Is this a racial thing against someone being white? Oh no i see now it’s base on someone’s sexual preference.. anyone can say anything. I want proof!! Sounds like you discriminate against people whip are gay!!!! Discrimination

Negative experience: My mom had a visit to St Francis er. I think their whole emergency waiting room needs an overall make over. It was a nightmare waiting there with all the sick people to find out what was happening to my mom. I got a mask and was very careful because I have MS. But, days later I still caught covid again. They need to look at other hospitals ER departments and redo theirs. After she got admitted and put in the hospital it got much better. The rooms and staff were very nice. Overall, on a scale 1 to 10. I would give ER a 2 and the rest of the stay a 7.

Fantastic experience: The service and care here is awesome.. Only hospital in town that I would use
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Betty. We appreciate your feedback.
Fantastic experience: I checked in ER on this date with possible diverticulitis pain in my lower abdomen. I waited to approximately 15 minutes before I was triage after triage. I was seeing a doctor within an hour and the doctor ordered a CAT scan and came back and explained the CAT scan to me and prescribed medicine and I was released. I did spend approximately eight hours in there.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Wayne. We appreciate your feedback and will share it with our team.
Fantastic experience: I had a pretty good prenatal visit, labor and delivery, and postpartum experience. I was able to get a tour of the L&D/Postpartum floor and preregister for a hassle free admission. That part was maybe a 5 minute wait when it was time to have baby. I appreciate the nurses for their assistance. We’re new here with not many people to rely on so we had a toddler (active 2 year old) during the induction and one of the amazing nurses took our little one for a walk while I was in labor. He was probably gone for about 15 minutes but I am forever grateful that she did that so my husband could be by my side. I thank the Doctor (Dr. K. McRae) and all the staff on that floor. They were super amazing the entire experience.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Daphyne. We're happy you found our team to be caring and supportive during your experience here at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare.
Positive experience: I went in for a sleep study that did not go well because I kept waking up from twitching and dreams that someone was pulling on my shoulder. They finally had to end the study when it became clear that I would not get enough sleep to gather the necessary data. I was told that I would be contacted about what options I had, but nobody has done so. At least it went better than my last study at another lab in Columbus. I has trouble sleeping in that one too, but nobody noticed and reported that I did not need further treatment, even though I am currently using a CPAP machine. My CPAP is over ten years old and under a recall, so I need a new machine.

Negative experience: I came to the hospital on 8/29 at 2:14 pm and 655pm I was taken out of a room and sat in a waiting room without being seen by a doctor . I was dizzy having chest pains and the pains was going in my left side of my neck and down my left arm and they didn't give a damn about me I've sat in the hospital hurting told them I was hurting.and still didn't care.... So I sure hope that nothing serious is going on because st Francis is a joke and don't care

Fantastic experience: I hope and pray that I never have to go back to this hospital. CCU was a nightmare. I have pictures of most of all the things that happened to me. Nurses have to have compassion. Very unprofessional. Rude!

Fantastic experience: During my procedure in the cath lab at St. Francis Emory, I was taken care of by a great team of nurses and techs. From the minute I entered the pre-procedure room, they were professional, explaining everything to me with great clarity. After the heart cath, the care given me was excellent and discharge instructions were clear and I understood with no difficulty. Dr. Miller spoke with me during the procedure, and I felt comfortable in his care. He spoke with my husband and me prior to discharge. I highly recommend St. Francis Emory and Dr. Miller and the cath lab team.

Negative experience: Absolutely the worst customer service , me and my mother went there visit a family member on the way to sign in for ID for visiting, the worker name “David” was extremely rude For one on the way in was no greeting after looking lost and finally figured out what to sort of do. We asked for help and he responded by saying “just follow directions on screen “ Without even looking out way. Also seems racist I say this because on the way out It was a younger Caucasian lady who needed help and he was quick to helping her at the ID service carrying a conversation standing up and etc . Lastly when I ask for his name on the way out he asked me in another rude exaggerating way by saying “My name is David “ I responded with “Thank you” He proceeded to say “AM IM GETTING IN TROUBLE OR ANYTHING “ .. Overall 0 out of 10 customer service and people like this should not be working in customer service. ( The whole time my mother was very nice even called him sweetheart after multiple times after his rudeness.)

Negative experience: Went to the emergency room 2 nights ago, got pretty good care even though they were pretty busy. Was told to return if I had any further cardiac problems. Last night 8/30/24 I went back because I started having more issues. Got into the triage room and was telling the female nurse what was going on a VERY rude male asked me “how is this any different then when you were here the other night?” I told him it was worse and he said “well you had a full work up a couple nights ago and nothing is going to change that quickly so we will do an EKG” they took me to do the EKG and within minutes brought me back in the triage room and handed me discharge papers saying my EKG was normal. They didn’t take the time to address the new concerns about my head and face going numb, and just blamed it on Covid and sent me home. I was so distraught when I left there without truly being seen, I have never felt so disrespected at an ER before. The “mid level provider” s name was Anthony hollifield and I won’t be going back to this hospital again after that treatment!

Negative experience: Let me start off by saying the nurses in the ER was AMAZING !! HOWEVER this review is strictly on the PA. MELISSA Fussell. She is extremely dismissive. I asked her about MY symptoms and all she could say was low sodium and water pill. She couldn't explain where or how this would help my issues. When asked her about pain management she say" Tylenol I guess." With a odd look on her face. Like I did try that before coming to a ER. SHE has 0 bed side manners as I heard another patient say she backhand called them a lier. So after I calmed myself dawn and tried talking to her again, she says follow up with your OB on Monday. I guess cuz I had a baby 7 weeks ago. Luckily I've had other experience with St. Francis or I would never come back.

Positive experience: Overall, I had a good experience. My nurse Bella took excellent care of me before my surgery. Then the night of my surgery, which was miserable because I had to be in the trendelenburg position, Tiffany Clark and Tee Anderson took such great care of me. They tried everything they could do to make me comfortable. You would have gotten a 5 but the day after my surgery, I wasn't given any breakfast, I called down to the nurses station repeatedly to try and get someone to come in my room, I took off leads to my heart monitor and no one would come to my room. Other than that bad experience, the rest of my stay was great.

Negative experience: WORST WORST WORST HOSPITAL IN THE ENTIRE WORLD AND I BEEN IN THE MILITARY AND ALL OVER THE WORLD. I know nurses are short staffed but to tell me that you’re doing me a favor NO DO YOUR JOB WHEN IT COMES TO MY DADDY I DONT PLAY ABOUT MY PARENTS. The people who work in the cafeteria, & Janitor have more customer service and treat people with more respect than the people that’s suppose to be helping my DADDY medical wise. THEY NEED A RAISE!!!!! The person working the desk in the surgery waiting area consistently on her phone and when asking her a question comes off as if I’m bothering her. DO YOUR JOB AND STOP SCROLLING ON TIK Tok. I remember when my daddy was in a coma at Martin Army hospital and they wanted to transfer him here and his doctor a whole OFFICER FOUGHT TO KEEP HIM THERE NO MATTER WHAT AND I SEE WHY! This hospital is disgusting and I see why they have under 3 star rating. If you don’t like helping people, care about people or have PATIENCE DONT GET IN THE MEDICAL FIELD FOR THE MONEY IDIOT!!! And the nurse that got smart with me about my daddy you’re gonna be reported.the only nurse that was helpful in surgery recovery tonight was KATHY MARIA & my daddy’s discharge nurse will update with name asap.. GIVE THEM A RAISE. All the other ones are disgusting and rude. Had the nerve to tell me she’s doing me a favor. The staff in the pharmacy were EXCELLENT AND PATIENT there names are Lynnie Burns, King & Darryl. They were very kind even when I was so frustrated from the horrible nursing staff and BAD COMMUNICATION. You have a rating of 2.9 SOMEBODY NEED TO BE GETTING FIRED.AND ITS 2024 get the capability to send prescription sent thru the computer system NOT MAKE THE FAMILY MEMBER WALK ALL THE WAY TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HOSPITAL TO RETRIEVE IT FROM A RUDE NURSE WHO SAID SHE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR

Negative experience: The worst hospital I've ever stepped in. Had a love one moved to this hospital. Showed up here and waited 3 hours for them to put him in the system. St. Francis get it together. Stop hiring lazy people. This has been one nightmare.

Fantastic experience: My overall experience was Great in L&D. I was there a week and was given excellent service until my last night there in labor and delivery when i encountered RN Kate in postpartum care. I reported the incident to the director, but i’m not sure what happened afterwards. To be treated like that after giving birth because i asked for pads to handle hygiene & questioned about medication i’m receiving because of kidney issues as if i abuse drugs and told she has to handle actual medical emergencies made me feel horrible while not being able to do much because of bed rest due to pre eclampsia but after speaking with Lauren and being assigned someone else everything turned out okay..
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our administration.
Fantastic experience: Brought wife here 7/10/24 emergency room staff were outstanding great care friendly was admitted and floor staff were great got her supper right away made sure she was comfortable I highly recommend st Francis.. came back 7/11/24. Few things that need to be addressed Parking is unbelievable maybe get a few golf carts to help move people to and from vehicle.. my wife hit call button asked to get a shower. Lady on speaker said she would let her nurse know one hr later called nurse direct nurse showed up within 10 minutes was never told of request ....the cafeteria leaves a lot to be desired. but as for the ER care and nurse's have been the best

Positive experience: My hospital stay was exceptional this time. Since I was admitted through the emergency room I remained there in the ER for 11 hours, which I felt was too long. However once in my room however my stay and services I received could not have been better. The doctors , nurses, hospital staff were all exceptional and I appreciated it very much.

Fantastic experience: I had to go to St Francis for a sleep study I had to do that twice both times I was dealt with very courteously the people I dealt with seem to be very pleasant answered questions if I had them I wouldn't have a problem dealing with Saint Francis again in the future

Negative experience: In the month of May. I’ve been at this Emergency room with Three different people in three different rooms and every room was NASTY. Get it together St. Francis. This used to be a clean hospital!

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful team of nurses and doctors I was blessed with! I was a patient during the delivery of my son, and the care given to us both was top notch and far exceeded my expectations! From the time we arrived, Laura, RN took us in and made us feel comfortable and right at home, as if we were the only patients there. Trisha, RN took over as our nurse for a period of time and was absolutely wonderful and met our every need. Dr. Ruehl has been with us through every step of carrying and delivery my babies and I couldn’t imagine doing journey without her. She was just as calm and gentle as ever, just what I needed in a time like this! Just to recognize a couple others, Gary, CRNA, Wendi, CNA, Tiffany and JT, Nursery RN, and Dana RN. After delivery, we were then given some wonderful post-partum nurses, Amber, RN, Lynn, RN, Wendy, RN, Carmen, RN, Catie and Deb, NP. who didn’t miss a beat but at the same time understood the value of rest for me and baby! My experience was perfect in every way and it was definitely because of these people! It takes a village to bring a baby into the world and I’m glad this was my village! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Nurse Nikita and nurse tech Wasa did an outstanding job and their dedication, empathy, and patient service was amazing. It is just a pleasure to have two outstanding employees like that on the 5th floor of the hospital. They both deserve a pay raise and a cash bonus. We thank you for all the great help they were giving my wife. Thank you, Philip Tirado

Hello Kristy. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our team.
Negative experience: St Francis hospital is 0/5. The PCN room I need to get to is on the side with ER but you can’t get to the room from there so you gotta go through the main entrance which is locked until 9am. The doors from the parking garage are locked. I get it for security but they have NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING posted with that information.

The ER nurse Katrina was very professional and courteous and they were so busy that night in the ER I could not of asked for any better care even every tech was spot on . Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Sarah. We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our team.
Positive experience: Overall it was a good experience. The nursing staff was attentive and helpful, but communication among various caregivers was not effective. Various specialists seemed to be at odds about what should be done. A nurse came by at 430 pm and said my 98 year old father was to be discharged at that moment. I had to get the case manager and house supervisor involved to change that. Also, it’s absolutely ridiculous that a patient’s primary care physician cannot coordinate or provide input on your care in the hospital. When health care became an industry patient care seemed to become a lower priority.

Fantastic experience: Was the best experience. Dr ruehl has been amazing since day one. The whole staff team on labor and delivery was perfect in keeping me and my baby healthy with a great delivery. If I was having more babies I would definitely choose St. Francis again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Katlin. We appreciate your feedback.
Negative experience: The staff is amazing. The hospital emergency room is out of date. It look scary on the inside of the emergency room. Again, the staff is amazing. While waiting in the hallway for 4 hours, I noticed a lot of unhealthy practices. Urine cups sitting outside on top of dirty linen bends, people sleeping in hallways, people sleeping in what looks like closets, no one cleaning rooms(just changing beds), no one cleaning the bathrooms every hour. Once we went to another area of the hospital, they allowed me to walk in a secured area with my bag, meds and phone (when I wasn’t supposed to to) it wasn’t until shift change that the night time guy informed me I wasn’t supposed to have anything where I was and had to put it in a locker. I understand and complied. Bit of an awkward situation though. The staff was friendly in this area of the hospital as well, but the rooms were pure nasty!! It was dried up vomit on the side of the chairs, no one had swept the floor in weeks possibly years, buggers on the walls food on the trays and floor, trash in corners.. The restrooms were awful. Some of them were out of toilet tissue. (I would have taken a picture but was told to put my phone away in the area I was in) Idk it just feels like you would get sick in there.

Fantastic experience: My nurse shatagre is one of the greatest people to have at Saint Francis. She goes above and beyond for her patients.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Jessica. We appreciate your feedback.
Negative experience: Terrible service, came into the hospital at 11 pm checked with in the first 10 min. I was only there to get tests but I ended up waiting 4 hours for something that take 15 min to do. It’s been 15 people to come after me and all 15 have been seen before me. When I asked what was the wait for me I get told we’re still waiting on results. This is the worst service ever received here

Negative experience: I thought I would share the email I sent to St. Frances Hospital just a few moments ago...... I am extremely disappointing in the medical staff, nurses and doctors, that "Cared" for my mother during her recent stay at your facility. My mother has cirrhosis of the liver and is number 9 on the transplant list at UAB. Due to her illness she is in and out of the hospital. It seems that each time she has been admitted the care just gets worse. Last September the staff was wonderful. I do not know what changes have been made since then but it's obvious that it's not for the positive. My mother was violated by a man who sat in front of her door for hours exposing himself. Check the police report if you would like to see it. She was on the 3rd floor room 301 June 26-28. Not only that..She was screaming in pain from muscle cramps and asked one nurse to please rub her legs. The nurse said I'm sorry and walked out of the room. Another nurse treated her as if she would catch something simply by touching her and reluctantly touched my mothers leg with two fingers and rubbed in a circular motion so lightly that my mother couldn't feel it. When my mother asked her to apply more pressure she ignored her. I will NEVER take my mother to Saint Frances again. I would much rather travel three hours to UAB where the doctors and nurses actually care!

Negative experience: Why do I have to pay 30 copay and 35 facility fee but it's all under 1 name looking like I'm paying the same bill twice. I called and they said i have a 60 dollar credit but can't apply because it's under different accts. I said im not billed under different accts . make it make sendse. I quit. Looking for a different doctor in a different facility.

Negative experience: I had to go to this ER today via ambulance. When I transported in, first nurse I see, rolls her eyes( black girl with braids and glasses). Patients were in the hallway. I was rolled to the nurses station and they decided to place leads on me while out in a public area. The tech told me not to have an attitude even though I was having a heart episode. Told them I was uncomfortable and wanted to leave and sign myself out and I felt like I was being held hostage. Dr. Regan and the EMT’s who transported me was making jokes about me. I kept asking to leave and they wouldn’t let me

Positive experience: St. Francis I chose for 2 reasons. The first is that this is the hospital where my cardiologist is located. This was so I would be close to him at all times through this episode with my heart. The second was because of St. Francis's history as an Catholic institution. I firmly believe that healthcare must be united with spiritual care to be its most effective. This was one area of my time at St. Francis I found to be woefully inadequate as there are no priests or sisters actually in residence there anymore. There should be provision for rectifying this situation if you are going to continue to use the name "St. Francis". I was really expecting to be visited daily by a religious in the same manner as I was visited by physicians. In so many respects my care was beyond expectations, the care provided by all the staff was excellent and I could tell that they genuinely cared for me and my well being. If it becomes necessary for me to be treated in hospital again I will return to St. Francis.

Negative experience: I arrived here at 7:35 pm and I'm still here at 11:43 pm. I came here straight from working all day to get tested for covid, flu, and strep. I was sitting in the back for 2 hours before I ever got swabbed. Now I'm waiting for the results. This is ridiculous. They don't acknowledge you at all as they walk by. They don't check on you, or give you updates. I understand that they have a lot of people to care for but this is the job they chose. I should have gone to Piedmont. I would've been home by now.

Negative experience: I am currently in the hospital with my mother in room 212. The response time of this shift is utterly ridiculous! I requested assistance via the call button and it took at least 5 minutes for someone to answer. I’ve requested pain meds for my mom and it seems no one cares about her discomfort. This is the worst crew I’ve experienced thus far at St. Francis.

Negative experience: My name is Max-Anne Chambers My mom is a former patient of Allawy Allawy. I saw this review by Sherri Bolen about him on google and felt even more upset about Allawy Allawy’s conduct because I saw his pattern of covering up his mistakes present in Sherri’s husband’s case. This was what she wrote about Allawy Allawy: “Thought he was gonna be a good doctor for my husband but boy was I ever surprised. In May 2023, my husband went to the ER and he was admitted because of issues with trying to digest his food. With all the "testing" they said they did, all we were told was pancreatitis. They gave him creon to take everytime he eats. They did a hida scan and they told him he had gallbladder dysfunction. Just this past month, August, he went back to the ER with pain and unable to urinate. They did another CT scan they found a tumor on his pancreas. The ER doctor wanted to admit him then but Dr. Allawy said no. With everything else, Dr. Allawy still kept saying pancreatitis but he sent him to Dr. Kumar whom did a EGD to take a biopsy of the "tumor" which turned out to be 3 CANCER tumors. If we just listened to Dr. Allawy, he wouldn't be be seeing an oncologist on Tuesday to see what treatment for CANCER my husband will be doing. We've been saying that my husband had cancer for the last year and a half but nobody would listen so hopefully it isn't too late and I'll have more time with the love of my life.” As a medical professional myself, -It is clear that Allawy Allawy does not think. Right now, you need to check if his credentials, and see if he is credible. This Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer is a clear miss. There is no way you have these symptoms with a HYDA scan like that on not think - Head of Pancreas Tumor. This is Medicine 101. Pancreas tumors tend to be very aggressive. In this case you can see Allawy Allawy has the same pattern like he did with my Mom – Bithiah Gedaliah. He did not practice medicine properly and then when it is about to be discovered he tries to cover it up. In my mom’s case the insult was made worse, when he said he wanted to see my mom for the next 30 days. How could he even think that we would want to see him for another day after his improper investigation and rude behavior when he got caught. We had made the decision not to see him from the day of that terrible endoscopy and colonoscopy. The only reason why we went to his office was because the Hospital does not have a proper administrative staff and we could not get someone proper to talk to. They kept saying to contact Tricia Jeffcoat but all we got was voice mail. We even went back to the hospital to look for Tricia Jeffcoat (the patient advocate) we could not get a meeting with her but she sent a message to the front desk to tell us to go to Allawy Allawy’s office to follow up. It looks like the hospital is hiding from us and would rather send us back to the afflicter than deal with us. When we wrote a review and all there was, is a programmed message to call Tricia Jeffcoat but as before all we ever got was voice mail. Allawy Allawy’s only pride and joy are to wait on Fridays to act like a surgeon which he is not. My mom is a certified genius don’t play with her. I am warning you his pattern is going to lead to some serious problems down the road for your hospital. His pattern shows he does not care about patients, he has programmed himself to just do endoscopies and colonoscopies. If he does not see anything obvious then he cannot go any further. It seems like he does not have a clear understanding of anatomy, how pathology affects physiology or how to connect dots. The fact that the ER doctor wanted to admit Sherri’s husband and Allawy Allawy was against it, shows his cover -up pattern at the risk of someone’s life. Where did he have that power? This patient was clearly ill, HIS patient was clearly sick. This just looks like he wanted to cover it up again. HE has no heart and, he does not understand his job and this is terrible .

Fantastic experience: The staff, nurses, techs, Dr’s here at St. Francis are ALL excellent. You can tell they care about not only their actual patients but their patients families/visitors as well. I was a bit confused trying to navigate the hospital while my husband was in surgery and a nurse who was fixing to go off duty walked me completely through the hospital after she even took me with her to clock out. The people I even met on our walk were so polite. Speaking as we passed, sharing a smile, holding elevators, etc. anything I or my ehusband needed was provided (often before we even thought to ask). One of his evening nurses/techs even brought me a heated blanket and covered me up with it as I was sleeping in the recliner next to his bed. He had to stay one night but had many shift changes and everyone was just as kind as the last. We would also highly recommend Dr. George McCluskey to anyone needing shoulder surgery!

Negative experience: Lady Receptionist was rude to all of the patients in the lobby on 4/4/2024. She had glasses, dark hair, Caucasian and heavy set. She needs to get more training on customer service and care to patients and their visitors to avoid risking the integrity of the hospital. She doesn’t seem to work well under pressure. If this isn’t the job you want.. find something better suitable for you.

Negative experience: My mom that 92 was take to st Francis emergency room on the 17th of this month and oh boy what I saw was disturbing. I don't know who's running this hospital but their doing a bad job.The emergency room show be clean but what I saw was lazy staff each room was filthy.I ask for a bed pan the nurses looked at each other to see who would get up and when she did it was with an attitude as if I requested something weird.I didn't ask her to do anything just for the bed pan.The public bathrooms were so dirty you couldn't use it.It looked as if it had never been clean. If your sick your better off staying at home.I hope the main floors are clean.Hire some staff to keep the emergency room clean.Beware you may get sick being in the emergency room from the filth.

Positive experience: Arrived by ambulance. ER was a joke. Lie there for hours. Couldn't get a response on the call button for something a simple as a urinal so.... Well that was fun. Symptoms were abdominal pain, excessive sleep, 22 hours a day and hadn't eaten for 4 days. The ward was much, much better once they told me which nurse call button was actually hooked up. 4 more day without eating. 3 different IV antibiotics, 3 times a day. No amount of tests found a diagnosis. Finally after 4 1/2 days I got a little bit of appetite back and could stay awake, I got to go home. Nurses were personable and professional. Thank God for my wife, there everyday, all day long. Her amazing love and my church praying to God for healing brought me home. Dr's tried but had nothing to work with. Low phosphorus and low potassium, general abdominal pain, and excessive sleeping. Anybody got a clue, jump in and let me know.

Negative experience: My ER experience was awful as a non-patient. I can only image the stress most families go through when at this ER. The ER team is unorganized, they have patients waiting in hallways for long hours with no clear updates, they tend to keep patients longer than expected time frames, no follow up for patients waiting on transport with inaccurate expected time frames, most of them were talking about personal things or talking about others in front of patients, and placing blame on other staff members for their mess ups. The only upside to the ER were the sitters & nurses aide who help out when the nurses are busy. The sitters & nurses aide have great customer service, which is something the ER team can learn from. On the other hand, the Behavioral Health Unit were very nice and professional on my last visit as a non-patient. St. Francis really needs to shape up.

Fantastic experience: I just had my third baby here and I can honestly say that each experience has been great. I couldn’t have asked for better nurses, techs and doctors!
Hi Tara. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback.
Fantastic experience: Yesterday, I had the most horrific experience of my life. One of my 18 month twin girls appeared to be having a seizure, shaking, foaming at mouth and eyes vigorously rolling in the back of her head after a doctor’s visit. She then appeared to be unresponsive. I called Surgical Care’s Niki Harris to grab the well twin while ENT’s Jessica Preston and I literally ran from the Butler Pavilion to the ER w my other baby. At the ER, Crispen Lott, Malachi, Jacob, Dr. Montgomery, Justin, Linda, Michelle, Trisha, Raven and so many more amazing team members (I am so sorry I didn’t get everyone’s name!) were there to care for my child. To hear their soft tones w my child and to see them softly touching my baby and dedicated to getting her to calm down and respond was a God sent. While I am still extremely emotional about the chain of events, I cannot close my eyes without saying THANK YOU!
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and kind words about our team at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare.
Fantastic experience: Dr. J. Tyler Johnson and his staff over at Columbus Clinic are Awesome . I was seen at appointment time! Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable looked me in the eye, address all my concerns, answered all my questions and gave me detail information to assist with my quality of life. He sent me to lab for blood work and the next morning I received a call from nurse making adjustments to my medication for the better. Dr. Johnson Thank You and Your Team When It Matters Most!!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Marilyn. We appreciate your feedback.
Negative experience: If you want to have nothing but problems with billing this is the place for you! I am still dealing with bills that are wrong from October 2023. If you finally get someone on the phone, they for sure can’t help you. Luckily my insurance is great and calls them for me. We have made a total of 5 calls and the bills are still wrong 4 months later. I have received multiple bills threatening to send me to collections, but they can’t even get their information straight to send to the insurance companies. Would definitely not recommend due to the difficulty and stress of the so called bills you owe, and trying to deal with a newborn.

Negative experience: Are you kidding me? Never have I ever seen such poor conditions and staff. I will NEVER come here again. It's filthy, the staff is rude, and you're bothering them to do their job. Kindness is free and they can use lots of it.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care!! Dr. Ruehl is amazing! Nurses Kelsey and Pam were the absolute best as well during my delivery. Thank you for everything!!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Dajaneek. We appreciate your feedback.
Fantastic experience: I have received great care from St Francis Emergency Staff, labs and center for breast health. Great hospital and staff. I feel very comfortable and secure about any health issues when I go to St Francis.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Nettie. We appreciate your feedback.
Positive experience: Called to get medical records for my son who had surgery when he was between 5 and 12, and the Release Department told me they are purged and no longer exist after 11 years. I know that is not accurate so my son went up there and within 3 minutes we were able to get copies from both surgeries.

Negative experience: I recommend against using labor and delivery at St. Francis for childbirth. We had our fourth child here after having our others at different hospitals. We did not receive good medical or customer service for the mom or the baby here at St. Francis. Please do not put your kids through this. We have had to travel multiple times to Atlanta for treatment to correct what was incorrectly done at St. Francis.

Positive experience: My husband had surgery 2/15/24. He stayed in recovery for about 4 hrs waiting on a bed. I have never encountered a nurse like the one on the 4th floor named Cynthia. She was the most condescending person I have ever met, she needs people training in people skills. Letting people at least speak their concerns would be a big first step for her.our experience the past few days were great until we moved to the 4th floor and had to deal with Cynthia. Everyone else was a 10 out of ten. She even brought the discharge papers in for me to sign and after I signed the first sheet without reading it, my bad.We get to the second page and the name on the pw was another person. Can you say Hipa violation.this was, about 4 hrs after we should have been released. Now we know why there are a shortage of beds because we stayed longer than we were told we would. I will be contacting the hospital after the weekend to speak to someone that can help me more on this. I only covered a few things here, there was much more drama from Cynthia than I wrote here.

Positive experience: My short stay at Saint Francis Hospital was not the best I didn’t get a road my entire stay. The day that I checked in at the emergency room was OK but the changeover shift that night was horrible. The night nurse came in check my vitals and said she was going to get my medication. I didn’t see her anymore that night nor did I see the night head nurse. I didn’t get my medication till almost midnight the first night nor did I get anything to eat till midnight. The ER room was dirty and nasty. I was afraid of catching some type of bacteria or disease in the ER.

Negative experience: This is the worst hospital I ever visited in my 52 years. Basically the care is no care, they charge you high as hell and no one truly gives af how you feel. All my test came back negative but I continued to sit here for hours listening to a patient cry out in pain. The way I heard the nurse talk to the patient was unbelievable. I would have been better off at Urhet care

Fantastic experience: The doctors were amazing and helped me with resources on getting the procedures that I have been trying to get done. Even the nurses were great and were patient with me. Ms.Janice and Ma. Dreiria were extremely helpful. The nurse tech Mrs. Kim was my favorite, they took the took the time to actually figure out why I have been suffering for the last years and now finally thanks to them I have a treatment plan in place. Thanks for the excellent care and if I have any problems in the future I will be going to St.Francis.
Hello, Rubyanne. We're happy you found our team to be caring and supportive during your experience here at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
Negative experience: My husband came into the ER at 9:12 pm with chest pains, shortness of breath, and possible pneumonia with an extremely high blood pressure. We sat in the waiting room for 2 hours before he was triaged, then we waited another hour and a half before he got called to the back. It is now 5:16 am and he is still “waiting” on test results and has not seen a real DR yet, only the NP. I called to get an update and the person that answered the phone was incredibly rude, saying tests take time when a patient has chest pains but yet it took them 3 hours to even call him to the back to be seen. Good thing he wasn’t having a heart attack or stroke or he would be dead waiting on you people. But I can guarantee yall bill our insurance a HUGE AMOUNT for doing nothing for him. We will never use this hospital again after this. Service sucks, patient care sucks, it’s ridiculous. I’m sure if he was a drug addict looking for pills, he would have gotten seen faster and doted on and pampered like a VIP. There was a poor lady in the hall begging for help in a hospital bed and that nurse told her to be quiet, that she can’t help her. Y’all should be ashamed of the level of care being provided to these people. It’s a miracle this place doesn’t get sued every week

Negative experience: Not only did my father receive poor patient care during his 3 day stay, he had $300 STOLEN FROM HIS WALLET while he was there. When he reported the stolen money to the head nurse, she referred him to a form he signed listing his "valuables" that he brought in the hospital. The form said that he could have his valuables locked up, but that is not how the staff member presented the form to him when she had him sign it. She said, "What are your valuables?", wrote it down, and said, "Here, sign this." She did not even explain to him that he could have his wallet locked up. In addition, he was not feeling well (obviously, in the hospital) and in respiratory distress. The head nurse also asked him, "Why didn't you put your wallet in your drawer?" Are you saying that my father shouldn't expect his personal belongings to be safe in a hospital from employee theft? In addition to this, my father had to remind the nurses constantly for his meals, and was served a meal with no utensils and had to eat it with his hands (eggs and grits) before a nurse returned 35 minutes later asking, "Do you still need a fork?" I understand that nurses and doctors can be busy, and patients can be impatient and uncomfortable, but EMPLOYEE THEFT in this setting should not even be a concern for people under physical and emotional stress. This is absolutely unacceptable and I expect accountability for this crime.

Negative experience: I went in like 2:30 on Monday morning thinking I was having a heart attack The nurses were just plain out rude I felt like I was being treated like second class like one of what they call their regulars , they never did find out what was wrong and I felt like they should have checked my gallbladder but they never did so I will be getting with my primary doctor about it but the nurses there were just nasty to me I head hurting so bad I had payed my head back in one of their uncomfortable wheelchairs, and the nurse went over bumps so hard. I have a bruise on the back of my head now I feel like she did that on purpose.ok to add to this I tried to tell them I thought it was my gallbladder and the just looked at me like I was stupid , I had 3 more attacks and it ruined my thanksgiving but I had my gallbladder removed because I had 6 large stones in December

Negative experience: My husband was transferred here by Piedmont hospital told us in his best interest . I can’t describe the care my husband didn’t receive there. He didn’t have bedsores when he entered but did when he left. He was only there maybe a week in PV ward. He was bedridden from a lot of issues. They discharged him said he only had copd. He went to rehab and died 8 days later. Do not send anyone there if you want good hospital care. Took 4 hours for them contact funeral home only after we called them and they said we have been busy.

Negative experience: Update 3 years later Mom is in the hospital again.. It still sux Y'all there is a pillow shortage in here The things they tell us Unbelievable This would be a real good place for a hospital. My mom has been here 6 days now the nurses are hit or miss most of them are miss. We had one named Fabrezza who shouldn't even be a nurse at all absolutely no bedside manner could not figure out how to use the IV machines no one communicates with anyone else. The supposed administration walks around to listen to your concerns and when you tell them your concerns they do nothing about it.I highly suggest if you have a friend or relative that has to stay in this hospital you stay with them to make sure they get some form of care
Jamie, Please call our Director of Patient Experience at 706.596.4253 or email her at [email protected]. We value your feedback.
Positive experience: As always with any medical facility it takes forever to get things done. For the most part, the medical care was great except when it came time to get ready to be discharged. There was a lot of miscommunications or no communication with a specialist who we were waiting for to find out test results so we could be discharged from the hospital. It took about 4 hours after the specialist showed up to get discharged. Not happy with this situation but the care was great while in hospital.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Patti. Your feedback is very helpful and we've shared it with the hospital administration.
Negative experience: ER visit… Called early to get an updated the nurse told me family wasn’t with her and she couldn’t tell me anything but I was trying to tell her that I’m the person who handles everything and she hung up in my face. We have been here since 4pm it’s now 11:25pm she wasn’t hooked to a monitor, blood pressure or O2 wasn’t checked. Nobody has checked on her for hours. We pressed the nurse button and it’s been beeping for 25 minutes. We’ve been waiting on a CT results for 5hours. Doctor came in with motorcycle shades on to say nothing and didn’t inform us he was leaving. I had to call house supervisor for someone to come to the room to apologize and say it’s no excuse and to find out there is a new doctor here trying to catch up cause he’s behind. By the time we see someone it will be shift change again. This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been to. I went to the nurses station and they were chilling and the female nurse looked at me like what the hell you want and kept talking. This one nurse (heavy set guy) was very pleasant. I would rather sleep outside before I come back to St.Francis Columbus, Ga.

Negative experience: No stars should be an option for the ED. As a cancer survivor I’m a huge advocate/supporter of MY health and well being. I understand emergencies happen and that’s why it’s the ED. However to check in at 10:45pm and watch other patients come in hours after I’ve arrived and cough and like I did but miraculously are called before I was is baffling. I give the sheet of stickers with my PHI on it back to the front desk around 2:30-2:40am and drive over to Piedmont’s ED. By 3am I’m registered and triaged, and before 3:15am I’ve seen the dr. and waiting for my X-ray and nebulizer treatment. Give my stars to Piedmont!

Negative experience: I gave 1 star just so I could leave a message it deserves to have a - negative sign in front of it. This hospital is a joke we are not from the area came in with back pain/flank pain. Waited 4+ hours nothing. The staff was rude and unprofessional no one introduced themselves or said what area they were from ie registration, nurse, lab or etc. The icing on the cake is they break HIPPA by discussing patients pertinent private health information in a waiting room setting in front of other patients. This is not Healthcare this hospital should be fined for this and shut down. I feel sorry for the people in this area.

Negative experience: If you like to sit somewhere for hours without communication... Go to St. Francis. They are quick to register you and take that $$ and then forget about you. Been here for my son's physical and mental health and the same for all experiences. It's sad when the registration lady agrees and talks about being sad when she sees patients she registers when she starts her shift still here after her shift ends.

Negative experience: St.Francis emergency room does not deserve any stars… Let me break it down from a patient and worker prospective. 1. The place is disgusting. If you don’t come in with an infection you will most definitely leave with an infection. Dried up blood is everywhere, the rooms get touched with a sanitizer wipe in between patients. 2.If you ask for the manager she will be little you and has actually asked patients to leave because she didn’t feel their issue was emergent enough 3. The best thing about the ER is the doctors are truly amazing and intelligent 4. The leadership can careless about patient safety and have engaged in arguing matches with patients

Positive experience: After I finally got to a room on the heart floor the care was excellent. But before that - it was so stressful-waiting in different waiting areas in chairs for 4 hours while my heart raced in AFib up to 140 was awful. A better triage system needs to be put in place-- for the most urgent cases being bumped up the list. 4 hours before I got an ER room-- I was about to collapse. Felt like we were being herded from room to room. When I got to the ER there I stayed 2 full days--in the midst of a madhouse--- patients coming and going - and shouting n halls full of patients who didn't even have a room. No privacy what so ever. We all about peoples privacy and here you are in the hallway or ER curtain separated rooms where every bit of info you are asked, everyone near can hear. The ER care was adequate but just the nature of the set up is bad. JK or JP ER nurse was the best. But there was a mixup as far as CT scan of my head-- she took me for it and was told no orders for it. Must have been another patient. Scary to think you may be hauled off for a test that wasn't even ordered for you but someone else. Finally after 2 days in ER and no sleep and missed meals -- I got to a room. It was wonderful once got to room. However the cardio version to my heart was canceled at the very last minute after family had taken off work and gathered around me. It was just a mess. The transport guy even came to get me even after it had been canceled. He didn't know. We had to tell him. The amioradone drip helped lower my heart rate into at least the 80s. So was sent home with instructions to return if it elevated again and to monitor my INR at home. The hospitalist on call was good but even still communication between him and my cardiologist wasn't clear. He ordered me breakfast not knowing my cardiologist was setting up cardioversion that day so no go then. Being on the heart floor was excellent care -- I appreciated it and slept like a baby once I got out of the insanely noisy ER. First hospitalist I had just wanted to get me out but was wise enough to know I needed to stay out and second hospitalist really took time and understood my situation and told me I wasn't going anywhere till my heart back in rhythm. I appreciated that very much. Hope this review will be helpful. If y'all want to attach Emory to your name you need to step to the plate. I've been a patient at several branches of Emory before and believe me y'all are NOT there yet. Keep working on it. The Butler Pavilion feels like Emory care ---- so you got it in you -- keep improving. Columbus needs you to be our Emory. And by the way, the food is awful.
