Fantastic experience: Lucas was very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all of my questions, and reviewed my X-rays in order to determine a prognosis. I will see him again in four weeks. I am very pleased with the high level of care that he provided.

Positive experience: The clinic itself is clean, wheelchair accesible, and has lots of parking. The receptionist was nice, and my intake person & x-ray person were both sweet and personable. The reason for the 3 star review was my orthopedist, Matthew Bengard, M.D. I have issues with both of my wrists and was referred to this orthopedic clinic and assigned to Dr. Bengard. Upon entering the room, Dr. Bengard (who was already seemingly agitated) did not introduce himself. When I asked how he was doing, his response was "Well I'm here." He asked "What can I help you with?" which seemed like a vague question. I had told the intake person my symptoms and what motions particulary cause me pain, so I wasn't sure what the question entailed. I asked about physical therapy for my wrists and mentioned that my chiropractor has worked on them a little bit. He told me he doesn't think chiropractic care is "scientific" and does not think it's a way to help. Later in my appointment he asked again what he could help me with and that I haven't told him what the issue was. I responded with "You haven't asked me any questions." His response seemed increasingly agitated and then patronizing. He looked at recent x-rays from another Dr and called them "useless". He had me take new xrays and the tech was very kind and in a pleasant mood. Upon my return we chatted more about my wrist issues and he said he'd send a referral to an OT. Dr. Bengard made me feel like it was "all in my head" (not an exact quote from him), intimidated, and patronized. If you have medical-related anxiety, I do not reccomend this Dr. There are two other Dr.s who also specialize in "hand and upper extremity" issues. I highly recommend asking for one of them instead.

Fantastic experience: Working with Dr. Phillips has been a great experience with my broken arm. He unexpectedly added my case to his schedule and had treated me well with respect and compassion. He’s knowledgeable in his field and has excellent communication skills when explaining what to expect with surgery, healing, and describing medical terminology. Being from Portland, his office and team have been accommodating to my needs and respond quickly to my messages and concerns. He invested in my treatment and healing and encourages me to drop by when I’m in town which makes me feel good that a doctor is not pushing me away or out after being treated. Rather that he’s on my side and that the patient comes first. Highly recommend this clinic to anyone with orthopedic needs.
