Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately, this hospital does not have a psychiatric ward/ER. Most negative reviews seem to be psychiatric in nature. I have elderly family I've had to take here on several occasions. Milford is very fortunate to have a hospital of this capacity and quality within the city. I cannot say enough good things about this community hospital. Outside of psychiatric issues, it is capable of handling the vast majority of problems Milford residents can have.

Positive experience: I can understand how this place has 3 stars. I've met some amazing staff members here but they're balanced out by some who aren't so great. The last time I was there, everything moved at a glacial pace. I waited over 4 hours for a parent that was due to be discharged "within a half hour." The PA gave really poor medical advice, and had we listened to her instead of going to a specialist, the results could have been catastrophic, and my family member's injury would've never healed correctly. Also, no one seemed to be able to figure out how leg braces work, which is baffling. My score would be lower, but I can tell that a lot of the staff are trying the best they can. It seems that this hospital is very understaffed however, and possibly inexperienced in certain areas that might be necessary to caring for patients. It's a very nice and high-tech hospital, but they really should devote more of their funds to hiring additional staff. It's not fair to the patients, nor to the existing staff, who I'm sure are really feeling the pressure some days.
