Breathe. is a trio of holistic physical therapy centers located in Des Moines, West Des Moines, and North Liberty. They specialize in dry needling, women's health, pregnancy/postpartum pain and recovery, and pelvic floor dysfunction and pain. Additionally, they offer mental health and massage services. They have been rated as the top physical therapists in the area.

Physical Therapy is a real treasure! Not only do the therapists focus on the specific area of discomfort, but they also take the time to really listen to your lifestyle to provide a holistic approach; promoting a healthier individual mentally and physically. My experience has been amazing! Just learning how to breathe properly has been essential for my overall wellbeing.

After feeling like my concerns weren't being taken seriously at other medical facilities, I found Breathe. After my first appointment with Libby, I was sure I had come to the right place. My birthing experience wasn't what I had hoped for, but Breathe helped me feel better. I then moved on to dry needling and have been very pleased with the results. As my job puts strain on my neck, shoulders, and back, Molly knows exactly how to help me and I always leave feeling great. Whenever anyone talks about aches, pains, pregnancy, or recovery, I make sure to mention Breathe! I even carry their business cards in my wallet. The only thing I regret is not discovering them sooner.

I have had the pleasure of visiting many different doctors and specialists at Breathe, and they have all been outstanding! Since I began going there, my overall health and any symptoms I was experiencing have all improved. I always feel welcomed and relaxed in their facility, and I would highly recommend them!

I am so grateful for these women! They are so passionate about helping people overcome pain and ensuring they have the skills to heal. They were amazing when I was going through postpartum issues, and then I got dry needling for my running tightness, which was amazing. Last night I had a terrible sleep due to some pain, but I called them first thing and they were able to get me in for dry needling the very next hour. It was the best sleep I had had in a long time! I can't thank them enough, I'm always telling people how great they are.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I had been meeting with Lily Gasway in person. I was surprised to find that telehealth with her was very effective - my knee problem is improving significantly and I can now run without any pain for the first time in more than a year! I am very pleased with the results. Many thanks to Lily!

For me, getting tailored whole body care is essential. I prioritize learning to breathe in a way that is beneficial for my physical and mental health. Having the support of knowledgeable and friendly care while still being in control of my own wellbeing is invaluable. Additionally, I cannot overlook the influence that urban pole walking has had on my life - it has been a total game changer!

I was so grateful to be able to stay in touch with Dr. Liz through telehealth during these uncertain times! We were able to keep me on the path to healing my body, as well as dealing with any new aches and pains that arose from working from my sofa. With two children in the house, telehealth is so convenient and Dr. Liz is always great at adapting my exercises to fit my hectic life at home!

As a massage therapist and spa owner, I have no doubt in recommending the physical therapists at Breathe to our customers. We first heard about these amazing professionals because many of our customers experienced great results from their physical therapy at Breathe.

My experience with Breathe was unlike any other physical therapy session I've had before. They tailored the session to my individual needs that day and provided me with exercises to do at home. We didn't just stick to the same exercises the entire time, but instead focused on things I couldn't do on my own, like dry needling and stretching muscles that are hard to reach. I am so thankful that I discovered Breathe, as it has truly changed my life.

Breathe has given me the ability to take control of my mental and physical health. Telehealth visits have been an invaluable resource during this pandemic. I can still achieve the same positive results while staying at home!

It was wonderful to be able to continue physical therapy with Lily virtually, especially during the pandemic. I had already been attending PT for a while before the pandemic began, so it was nice to be able to maintain my progress. Having the opportunity to still "meet" with Lily even though it was over a screen made me feel more connected to the outside world. There were even a few moments during each session when we would laugh together, which made me feel better about the current situation. I am really thankful to Lily for assisting me during this time!

I looked for Libby and Kaylee to help me with my postpartum diastasis recti, but I got more than I expected. Not only did they teach me how to properly stabilize and strengthen my core, but they also informed me about how pelvic floor dysfunction can affect endometriosis and the different treatments that can be used to reduce the pain.

I cannot praise Libby and her work enough. Her reputation in the Digital Marketing field is outstanding and she exceeded all expectations. She has an exceptional ability to identify and address problems. I highly recommend Libby and Breathe to anyone!

Telehealth physical therapy was incredibly useful for me. It allowed me to get my new issues addressed quickly, instead of letting the pain get worse and become something more long-term while I waited for an in-person appointment. My therapist was able to demonstrate the exercises I had to do, make sure I was doing them correctly, and then send me an email with instructions until our next session.

My telehealth appointments with Dr. Kristen were a real blessing! I was able to put the baby down for a nap and quickly connect with her online while I was in my closet. She gave me a comprehensive and straightforward treatment plan that I could do from home, as well as other options. It was a great way to get a check-up without having to leave the house, and it was done quickly and securely. Thank you, Dr. Kristen!

Engage in activities such as playing, running, working, standing, sitting, sleeping, exercising, and walking, as well as enjoying sexual intercourse, giving birth, and recovering from pregnancy with less pain, better posture, more strength, fewer bladder problems, less gastrointestinal discomfort, and more confidence to live the later part of life with more energy and purpose than the beginning.

1. To address any discomfort or pain during sexual penetration. 2. To help improve posture, alignment, and core strength. 3. To reduce urinary leakage or incontinence. 4. To assist with pelvic organ prolapse. 5. To help with pre- and post-natal care.

1. If any kind of penetration is painful - including tampons, intercourse, or even use of a speculum during a medical exam - a pelvic health physical therapist can help. 2. To address pelvic floor dysfunction - including incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, and pain during sex. 3. To improve posture and body mechanics. 4. To learn how to properly strengthen and relax the pelvic floor muscles. 5. To gain insight into the anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor muscles and how they affect the entire body.

1. If penetration of any kind is painful - such as with tampons, during intercourse, or even when using a speculum during a gynecological exam - seeing a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist can help. 2. To improve bladder or bowel control. 3. To reduce or eliminate pelvic pain. 4. To improve sexual function or pleasure. 5. To address postpartum issues or pelvic floor weakness.

Pregnant women often experience a sharp pain in their lower abdomen, which is usually attributed to the growing womb. However, there are several ways to help alleviate this pain: 1) Eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day; 2) Exercise regularly; 3) Avoid foods that cause gas and bloating.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is highly recommended due to the fact that a woman's body goes through a lot of changes as a new life is being created inside her. Ligaments become softer and joints become looser in order to prepare for the birth, and these changes can cause discomfort and pain. Chiropractic care can help to alleviate these issues by providing relief from pain and discomfort and ensuring that the spine and pelvis are properly aligned.

Take a deep breath and be your authentic self. We recognize and appreciate you for who you are. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive atmosphere of acceptance and love, where everyone is respected regardless of their race, gender identity, age, religion, sexual orientation, and life experiences. By working together, we can create more positive and healthier communities.

Fantastic experience: Breath. Physical Therapy is inviting with very kind staff. I saw Randi when I was 20 weeks pregnant for some round ligament pain, and within a week, my pain was completely gone & never returned. I also saw Randi around 36 weeks for birth prep & I believe delivery was so great thanks to the stretches & other advice from her!

Fantastic experience: Breathe has helped me in many phases of my womanhood journey - from infertility and severe endometriosis flare pain and removal surgery recovery to early pregnancy and now postpartum, I'm grateful to the wonderful team for their compassionate care and healing focused approach. It has been amazing also watching them grow as a business and come together in their new space! Macey has been a WONDERFUL addition with her smiling presence at the front and willingness to baby hold while mom gets care! My baby enjoys it, too. Thank you Kaylee, Randi and team for blessing the Des Moines metro and myself specifically, with your skills and connection! It's such a gift to have providers who have both.

Fantastic experience: Breathe is the BEST! I have been going here for four years now being pregnant and postpartum and I look forward to every visit. Randi is so amazing and she teaches me something new every time I am there. Whether it is dry needling, stretching or even just a conversation Mom to Mom, I truly feel the difference and it helps so much.

Fantastic experience: Randi has been a miracle worker for me! I came to her with a very large hematoma on my leg that had been there for nearly two years. I wasn’t sure if anything could be done, but Randi has been able to work miracles (through dry needling, ultrasound treatments, cupping, taping, and exercises/stretching) and I am so amazed at how far I’ve come. Randi also takes a very holistic approach and has been helpful in addressing other health/muscular/etc concerns. In addition to being a PT she is a certified trainer and has helped me modify some of my own home training routines to best fit my personal health needs. Randi is an amazing PT and wonderful person!

Fantastic experience: When I first went to see Liz, I was having terrible headaches and nerve pain down both arms. After just a few sessions of dry needling and therapy, Liz was able to completely eliminate the headaches and has drastically decrease the occurrences (and severity) of the arm pain. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to solve any issues they are having with their bodies.

Fantastic experience: I was having hip pain and couldn't figure out what was causing it. A few trips to Breathe. and the pain is gone! Fantastic experience: I’ve been to a handful of different physical therapists in Des Moines and THIS is what works. The therapists at Breathe. are committed to your healing, your success, your happiness, and to understanding your challenges (commitments, family, time, jobs, etc.). I sought Breathe. out initially for pregnancy rib pain, but stayed for back pain, past surgery pain, new ailments, and even a sinus infection. When I arrive I feel like an old friend...and when I leave I have the tools to be a better mom, athlete, wife, employee. This is my first stop when I need help and I’m so grateful to have this kind of support system that looks at the whole picture.

Emily Kessens 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I feel so welcome and supported here. They have private rooms and experienced therapists and free coffee in the waiting room! I didn’t realize how stressed and uncomfortable I was at the sports clinic previously trying to do physical therapy, because it was just one big open room with tables for therapy. Oh and Breathe. has heated floors in the bathroom! So cozy.

Fantastic experience: I am so glad I found this place! I knew it was the place for me when they asked me to take shoes off at the door . I have been so grateful to have a therapist that works with me instead of “at” me. I can feel my body getting stronger and am excited to finally work through some shoulder/neck/arm pain that has been with me for a decade! Not to mention the fantastic postpartum approach and healing. Highly recommend Lily and Breathe!

Fantastic experience: I have worked with Dr. Lily since the birth of my first child this past winter. Dr. Lily has helped me tremendously to recover. I have been especially grateful for her help with proper form when picking up my daughter, loading/unloading the carseat, and other movements I would not have even thought of! I am so grateful to Dr. Lily and Breathe for their help.

Fantastic experience: I am not a young mom but my chronic backpain was pelvic floor related. No more pain after some internal PT and relearning howto breath and sit. Following my decision for total knee replacement, I did pre hab therapy and gained a lot of strength in my core which has helped my recovery immensely I now am in rehab and progressing well. I look forward to getting stronger with their encouragement and direction. Because I have spent close to a year here( oh yay I broke my foot too!). I have seen many of the therapists and everyone of them is kind compassionate and encouraging. The talk and educate about our different needs for PT as women and that has made all the difference in my life. Both of my daughters are receiving gift certificates for classes for their birthdays!

Fantastic experience: As someone diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I can assure you it’s no easy feat to find the right treatments as well as a strong support system to help manage these conditions. I started going to Breathe PT as an alternative treatment for my PFD. I was previously taking antispasmodics to relieve the pain and spasms to no avail, so I was left feeling hopeless. Breathe PT turned everything around for me. Not only did they come up with breathing and strengthening exercises for my pelvic floor, they also excelled in providing encouragement and support. Lily has been amazing in helping me pursue long term goals living with EDS as well. We work on pain management, muscle strengthening, and other various exercises so I can safely work out and live a more active life. I could not recommend Lily and the rest of the kind and warming Breathe staff enough!

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but great comments for Breathe. Physical Therapy! The front desk ladies are so inviting and welcoming :) They really pair you with the best physical therapist based on your needs. Definitely worth trying out if looking for a physical therapist! These women are amazing!!

Fantastic experience: Everyone from the front desk staff to all the therapist I have seen are above and beyond amazing! I’m partial to Liz Lahr since I’ve seen her the most, but all are knowledgeable and friendly. Liz doesn’t just focus on the problem and send you on your way. She always takes the time to understand what may be going on with the whole body both physically and even mentally. Liz follows up to find the latest information from physicians appointment to help guide her plan. I never felt like I didn’t have a say in what was going to happen during PT with Liz. Breathe overall delivers such personalized care I wouldn’t go anywhere else for physical therapy!

Fantastic experience: I have had the best experience with Lilly! I went in to strengthen my pelvic floor after having 3 kids, fix my diastastis recti and stop incontinence. After only a couple months, I saw some really big improvements. I highly recommend Breathe!

Angela Kruse 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: After my second baby I was confirmed to have diastasis recti, with a significant abdominal wall separation. Previously having a strong core, this was beyond frustrating (way more than just the appearance, but more so the secondary physical affects it was taking in my body—especially my hips and lower back). Exercise and even some daily activities were limited, until I started seeing Stephanie McColloch at Breathe in West Des Moines. She is so knowledgeable and taught me a lot about the pelvic floor and the importance of the correct way to breathe. Some exercises and sessions really challenged me, but I always left my appointments feeling better. Stephanie also would email me a weekly plan of exercises, so I really felt confident about having a plan to conquer my post-baby ab issues.

Fantastic experience: I found Breathe after being frustrated that my concerns were not being heard at other practices. After my first visit with Libby, I knew I had found the right place. My labor and delivery story isn’t the one I had envisioned, but Breathe helped me feel whole again. Then my recovery moved on to dry needling and I haven’t looked back. My career is taxing on my neck, shoulders and back... Molly knows exactly what she’s doing and I walk out of there feeling great. One doesn’t dare mention an ache, pain, pregnancy or recovery where I don’t chime in about Breathe! I even carry their cards in my wallet. My only regret is not having found them earlier!

Alyssa Welling 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Dr. Liz Lahr for a few months now for some postpartum issues that I had been experiencing since I had my first baby 3 years ago, and continued to experience until after I had my 2nd baby 18 months ago. After my first visit, the constant, consistent pain in my hip was virtually gone. During the height of the pandemic, I had a few tele-health sessions from home, which was super helpful as my kids are now home with me as I work from home. I would, and do, highly recommend Breathe. to anyone that complains to me about incontinence or pain, and I always mention Dr. Lahr because she has helped me so much! I never realized that I didn't have to be in pain all the time just because I had carried 2 babies!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Breathe Physical Therapy for any of your health needs. Lily is a great therapist who always listens to my concerns and did an amazing job helping me recover from low back pain this spring. I have also gone to Liz for dry needling and it was a great experience also!

Debra Williams 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Breathe has been a true blessing in my life. When I started seeing their therapists, I doubted anyone could help me with the pain I felt. I had pain in my entire lower pelvic region due to surgeries and treatments for cancerous cells. I thought the pain was something that I would have to learn to live with. I have been under their care for 6 months now and I am amazed at how great I feel and how little pain I have. I have seen four different therapists and they all have the same caring, gentle, cheerful and positive outlook on my treatment. I had to do my work too, but they never gave up and would always come up with a solution for any issues I felt due to the pain I was experiencing. If you have any pain in your lower pelvic region, the therapists can help you - whether your a woman or a man. I highly recommend them!

Erin Schneider 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I experienced years and years of UTI-like symptoms. I was constantly on antibiotics and the pain was impacting my quality of life. The day I called Breathe I was feeling frustrated and hopeless. Honestly, I expected the experience of visiting a pelvic floor PT to be awkward, weird, or creepy. It is none of those things. Randi Curtis and everyone in that office made me feel welcomed, cared for and full of hope again. I started to see improvement in my quality of life within the first two weeks and after two months I feel like a new woman. I recently told a friend that I wished I needed more PT because I will miss going to Breathe and seeing Randi!

Fantastic experience: Breathe is a great place for physical therapy, especially as a woman going through pre- or post-pregnancy. Lily has helped me so much since my first cesarian and is now helping me prepare for my second pregnancy with twins. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly!

Kimberly Owen 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked in the door, I felt a welcoming sense of calm. The front desk staff is incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely interested in making your day better. The therapists are knowledgeable, talented, and effective. I visited several times for low back and neck pain, and the therapists utilized a variety of techniques to resolve my pain. They listened to my needs, addressed the most pressing issue each day, and included me in any decisions made for my care. Releasing physical stress can also bring about strong emotions, and the physical therapists were supportive through that process as well. I would (and do!) highly recommend Breathe to all my friends.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy working with Liz at Breathe. for all of my physical therapy needs. I love that they look at the whole person, not just the area of pain for their patients. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and calming. I recommend Breathe. to all women in my life!

Fantastic experience: It's been over two years since having my last child so I didn't have high hopes for my body getting back to "normal". I had been to pelvic floor PT before after my first child (for months) and never really felt much improvement. After reading about Breathe I decided to give it a shot and I have been impressed since day 1! They really got to the bottom of my issues and helped me focus on my goals. I feel better than I did even before having children! Breathe has provided me with unbeatable care and I am so thankful I didn't allow my fears to overtake my decision to give them a visit! As they told me on day 1, "it's never too late!"

Fantastic experience: I’ve had all great experiences working with Dr. Lily Gasway at Breathe Wellness. I saw Dr. Lily for pelvic floor muscle pain during my second trimester and then again to address diastasis recti postpartum. Dr. Lily is very personable and knowledgeable in her area of expertise. I definitely recommend Breathe Wellness for any/all women’s health PT needs!

Fantastic experience: Words cannot describe the change Breathe has made in my life. At around 4 months postpartum I'd gotten back to exercising, but something just didn't feel right. Parts of me felt so strong and others felt weak and unstable. Someone suggested I have my pelvic floor health assessed and it was the best suggestion ever! I've since made such progress with my postpartum issues, as well as tackled some other aches and pains that I'd come to just accept as part of getting older. Every single person I've met and dealt with at Breathe has been kind, welcoming and made me feel so comfortable, especially given what a personal and potentially uncomfortable topic we needed to evaluate and work on. Not sure where'd I be without these ladies, and glad to not have to worry about that!

Fantastic experience: I came to Breathe. Physical Therapy & Wellness about a year after I had my second baby and my first C-Section. I thought I had some DRA and I wanted to learn how to strengthen my core and pelvic muscles. Dr. Liz has been awesome! I have learned so much and I am feeling stronger everyday, I am so glad I made the decision to try Breathe.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Breathe for about 9 months for extreme back pain from pregnancy and postpartum issues. I don't know where I'd be today with out the incredible care of Dr. Lahr. I never feel rushed during appointments, always heard and I ALWAYS leave feeling BETTER! That's really saying something when it comes to physical therapy...Feeling better so that I can live a fuller more sustainable lifestyle is what it's all about. If you're on the fence about physical therapy please give them a try, I believe its the best gift you can give yourself.

Fantastic experience: I saw Stephanie at breathe during my 3rd pregnancy, which was very shortly after my 2nd child was born. My second pregnancy was incredibly rough on my body and I had a very LONG SLOW recovery postpartum. I was still recovering from birth #2 when I got pregnant with child #3 and that’s when I started PT. My 3rd pregnancy was SO MUCH smoother than my 2nd. And the postpartum recovery phase was the BEST I’ve had yet! I know this was all due to the wonderful work of my therapist Stephanie! She did a wonder job and I’m so incredibly grateful for the difference her help made!

Fantastic experience: Would absolutely recommend Breathe PT for anyone needing assistance. I had my first child without any PT and the recovery was awful. I was not making the same mistake again when I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I got ahead of it and went before and after delivery. My delivery is what I’d call a “unicorn birth” in comparison to my first child. It was a breeze and all thanks to Dr Stephanie who gave me the tools to use during labor to make it a smooth delivery. I wish I would have been more proactive the first time around but just SO thankful I found Dr Stephanie for my second!

Fantastic experience: The expertise and knowledge of the women here at Breathe! is incredible. I have always been meet with compassion, expertise and comfort. I love the vibe the clinic puts off and the kind personalities they employ. It feels like a family and a place you can feel comfortable in, talking about some potentially very awkward and embarrassing topics. I have gone to Breathe! after 2 babies and am finally going during a pregnancy. I'm excited to see how it impacts my experience. I recommend them in the highest regards to every women! You need to go!

Fantastic experience: Early on in my pregnancy, I started having urination problems and often had to use the bathroom almost every hour! I sought out pelvic floor therapy, and within two sessions my problems were solved! They helped me with tips and tricks to retrain my mind along with exercises to help relax my pelvic floor! I can't wait to go back when I get further along to prepare for my delivery! Strongly recommend Breathe to anyone who has ANY issues relating to bladder, pelvic floor, or female wellness!!

Fantastic experience: Heather at Breathe is amazing! I heard about Breathe right before my 2nd child was born. I called after delivery and scheduled for a few weeks out. Best decision I ever made in my post party’s journey. I felt better after baby #2 with a toddler at home than I ever did for baby #1.

Fantastic experience: After two years of a variety of discouraging symptoms following giving birth to my first and appointments with OBs and primary care providers where I was told “I looked healthy” or might need to do more kegels, I met with Lily at Breathe and right away, I was given answers about what I was feeling and solutions. Within one week, I felt a difference in my pelvic floor and encouraged about setting new strengthening goals. The community this clinic offers was a giant relief, and I can’t encourage mothers enough to meet with one of Breathe’s amazing Physical Therapists, especially postpartum.

Fantastic experience: The doctors at Breathe are extremely caring and attentive. They have helped me work through several painful conditions being thoughtful and supportive in their practice getting me back to feeling healthy and strong so I can continue on with a busy life. The entire staff is welcoming and I highly recommend their services!

Fantastic experience: I had Dry Needling done on my shoulder with Molly. It has really helped a chronic problem, even after just one session. I am able to hold my chiropractic adjustments so much more and be in less discomfort. Also- the atmosphere is phenomenal. Everyone makes you feel so welcome as soon as you walk through the door. Love everyone here. They truly want to help you feel amazing.

Fantastic experience: I love Breathe Physical Therapy! It is beautiful, welcoming and smells good. All the physical therapist are wonderful but Lily worked the most on helping me recover from a wrist injury. She really listened to me and gave good advise and exercise suggestions. She is easy to talk to and has the best smile!

Fantastic experience: I've been to Breathe. now on three separate occasions, seeing three different physical therapists, for three different reasons. Each stint at Breathe. has been extremely beneficial, both for my physical body and my soul. From the moment I walked in the door the first time, I knew this place was different. It is by far the best physical therapy experience I've ever had. The ladies at reception are warm and welcoming, the space is inviting, and the therapists are knowledgable, kind, and empowering. Most recently, I've seen Lily for a hip injury that started while I was pregnant. I am a certified yoga instructor so when I saw that Lily taught yoga as well, I knew I wanted to work with her! She's helped me to identify what I can be doing differently in my own practice to protect and strengthen my hips. Additionally, I actually feel like I'm getting stronger with the exercises she's given me--when I've done physical therapy at other places previously, I felt like I was just going through the motions. Here, I feel like the therapists actually care about you as a person and that they want to get you "pain-free and thriving." I am nearly done with my PT work on my hips and it eases my mind knowing that if and when I need to come back to do PT, I have a home at Breathe. I strongly suggest checking out this business! All three therapists I've seen are amazing. Hands down best physical therapists in central Iowa--so much so that I drive from Ames to go to Breathe.

Fantastic experience: I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't found Breathe! The ladies there have become good friends and I feel immensely comfortable around all of them. They truly care about each of their clients and you can feel that. It's genuine. I appreciate the individualized care I receive from each therapist - they all listen to my complaints and concerns and help me understand the "whys" for my pain and the "hows" to get relief and live my life without pain! They've helped me with chronic migraines as well as hip/low back pain with radiating into my leg. The dry needling is such a HUGE help and I am forever grateful that they offer this service! Their offices are welcoming and warm - it feels as if I'm just visiting at a friend's house when I'm there. This feeling of ease is not one that I have ever had in a medical setting as I am usually quite full of anxiety during medical appointments, so the fact that the women behind Breathe. have gone above and beyond to foster that in their environment means so much to me. I also appreciate the flexibility of appointment times and scheduling. The ladies at the front desk are always helpful and friendly and I love chatting with them, too! Just make an appointment and see how much better you can feel with their excellent care!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Liz and the entire staff at Breathe. are amazing. They are a supportive and inspiring group of women who are very obviously all in for women’s health. I was allowed to tell my story, discuss my issues and goals with no judgement. Dr. Liz listened to it all - she carefully and skillfully made a plan for me. The exercises were easy to follow and worked! I felt stronger and more confident quickly. I would highly recommend Breathe. to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Breathe has helped me manage all the aches and pains associated with my pregnancy. Dr. Lily Gasway is extremely kind and knowledgeable about pregnancy and postpartum. The entire staff is extrememly warm and welcoming. I can't imagine going anywhere else for physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: The physical therapists at Breathe are amazing! They kept me healthy and pain free during my pregnancy when I dealt with sciatica and lower back pain. I plan to return to them postpartum to help with diastasis recti and pelvic floor. These women specialize in women's bodies and it really shows. Not only do they know their stuff, but they genuinely care about their patients and take time at every appointment to make sure they really meet your needs. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Pregnancy and postpartum are a generally uncomfortable time, but they don’t have to be! After seeing Dr. Lily now for all my pregnancy aches and pains there is no place I’d recommend more than Breathe! The staff at Breathe. make you feel comfortable, heard and understood. They never make you feel rushed or minimize your pain. All of the staff truly want you to live your best pain-free life and those positive vibes make Breathe. one of a kind!

Fantastic experience: I went to Breathe physical therapy at the West Des Moines location for my knee pain. It's an awesome place for all your physical therapy needs!! Everyone at breathe are so welcoming, kind and genuinely want you to get better and have a great experience. I mostly had Dr.Liz and Dr.Lily as my therapists and they were both amazing! They really take the time to listen to all your concerns regarding pain and try to help in every way possible. I'm so happy that I found this place and Highly Recommend them !!

Fantastic experience: Breathe Physical Therapy is truly THE BEST physical therapy facility in the Des Moines area! I have received physical therapy at other places in the past, but have never received the attention or education to actually heal my body like I have at Breathe. I have been a client at Breathe for a couple of years and we have addressed several issues. I have seen several therapists at this practice, and they are all great! I can especially recommend the two I have seen most frequently, Libby and Lily - both fantastic! I came in for pelvic floor issues that no one, not even my doctor, could help with. Problem solved. Ongoing issues with fibromyalgia, migraines, and chronic pain have also been addressed. Their dry needling services are wonderful and the therapists know exactly how to use their hands to heal your body. In addition, they offer Breathe At Home, where I can choose different therapeutic yoga, stretching, strength, and other videos to practice in my own home. I just can’t say enough about how the quality of my life has changed through the attentive and empathetic help of these professional women.

Fantastic experience: I went to Breathe after each of my pregnancies. I had two c-sections, and Liz was so kind, insightful, and understanding. She did c-section scar massage, which helped desensitize that area. I also had diastasis recti after having twins. She gave me exercises to close that gap in my abdominal muscles. Overall, I just felt stronger and more like myself after going to Breathe. Also, you can take your baby WITH you! Several times the secretaries snuggled with my son if he got grumpy during the appointment.

Fantastic experience: Breathe Physical Therapy & Wellness has exceeded my expectations so far. Upon my arrival I was welcomed with a warm smile and herbal tea. Usually, I don't utilize complimentary tea, coffee, or snacks; but the environment was THAT WELCOMING that I poured myself a cup. My first visit we tired dry needling, my first experience, and I felt immediate relief. Mary made the process comfortable and relaxing. The atmosphere at Breathe is calm, supportive, and hopeful. I am actually excited for my next appointment instead of feeling like it's one more thing on my "To do" list. I am looking forward to the increased community and therapy I WILL achieve with Breathe.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend! The whole office is so warm and welcoming and they genuinely care about you too! I started seeing Dr. Lily Gasway when I was around 7 months pregnant. She helped teach me how to relax my pelvic floor before giving birth. Knowing how to use my breathing to help me relax my pelvic floor is what got me through my labor! She helped keep my body in alignment and keep my muscles from being too tight before labor too. She also provided me with stretches to do at home to continue to help my body be prepared for labor and delivery. I have just started working with her again, now postpartum, and look forward to her continued help in getting my pelvic floor and abdominals back on track!

Fantastic experience: The care, knowledge and support they give you is unbeatable. They not only support you in your physical wellness but they also support you mentally. One thing I truly love about Breathe is that they are family centered. They support my attendance by allowing my child to join me .Not just join in but also be a part of my process and welcome her lovely stories about crazy toddler adventures. They also have many services and activities for education outside of their weekly hours. They are kind, friendly, and confidence boosting! These women have treated me better than family when it comes to my health for the last three years.Truly amazing group of women. I highly recommend them.I could not function fully without them!

Fantastic experience: Breathe was a game changer for me and I’m sad I discovered it as late as I did! I will be recommending all new moms to try it out postpartum and beyond! My care was personalized, focused, and so helpful to my recovery! They are also SO woman focused and baby friendly! I brought my newborn multiple times and the front desk crew snuggled him while I finished my session! Love Breathe!!

Fantastic experience: Breathe was recommended to me for their dry needling techniques, but the entire experience was great! I felt like I was truly heard. I loved the dry needling technique, but I also appreciated the fact that they worked with me to come up with a plan to improve my day-to-day life. It is obvious that they focus on a holistic approach to healing - they truly want to help you feel better instead of just slapping a band-aid on your problem until next time. I was also given a few exercises and stretches to work on at home, which were emailed to me with pictures, explanations, and recommendations for how often I should perform each exercise. This was helpful for me because I tend to forget everything the moment I walk out the door. Everyone I met was extremely friendly and welcoming. I cannot wait to go back and continue working with everyone at Breathe.

Fantastic experience: Breathe ladies are Amazing!! Their philosophy and approach to physical therapy is comprehensive and different then any other physical therapy place. They look at the whole body physically and mentally to truly approach and treat your problems! They truly care about making you better and living your best most active life! I don’t know what I would do without their support, especially navigating postpartum and chronic pain symptoms; especially working with Libby. She is great!!!! It’s amazing how the whole body works together. I was breathing so wrong. Dry needling with Molly has been great too to relieve tension and get those trigger points released! I highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: I started seeing Dr. Lily Gasway at Breathe during my second pregnancy. I had significantly more pain than my first pregnancy and was concerned about delivery, as my first delivery involved over 3 hours of pushing before my son was born. I really wanted to give myself the best chance at a smooth (and quick) delivery. Through the exercises and stretches Lily had me doing I was able to manage my pain during the remainder of my pregnancy, and I was able to deliver my daughter in less than 30 minutes of active labor, and less than 10 minutes or pushing. I’ve continued seeing Lily throughout my recovery and love the opportunity work with her. Going to appointments with Lily feels like hanging out with a good friend who has a wealth of knowledge about how to feel your best and reach your goals. She’s knowledgeable, personable, and a joy to work with.

Fantastic experience: I went to Lily following my c-section with my first child. From the very beginning she listened to my concerns and worked with me as new pains came about while also celebrating the small wins with me. Lily stays in touch and is always available if you have any questions. And an added bonus is seeing her cute pup Archie! The entire staff at Breathe are so open and welcoming too!

Fantastic experience: I decided to try out Breathe to work on abdominal weakness after my third baby. This place is not your average PT clinic. The environment is very warm and relaxing, and the staff are so kind! I am working with Lily, and she is so great! I haven’t once felt confused and she takes time to work through questions and concerns I have. I appreciate that they send weekly home programming as well. I wish I had found this place sooner!

Fantastic experience: My experience at Breathe Physical Therapy has been excellent! Lily is good at listening to my complaints and designing a path to help me meet my physical goals. Prior to visiting Breathe, I was feeling so much muscle tension due to working from home. Not only do I feel relief now from the pain, I can tell my core is getting stronger which will help me in the long run! Lily and the other therapists at Breathe in West Des Moines are awesome!

Fantastic experience: I have only good things to say about Breathe. I love their holistic approach, and the staff are so friendly and good at making you feel at ease. I have learned so much about how my body works and how to be proactive about my health. I have seen Lily Gasway, and she has been so helpful with all of my questions and getting to the root of the problem. It's been a great experience!

Fantastic experience: Dr Kaylee has changed my life! I came in for ongoing hip issues and she has me at 100% through dry needling and home exercises. I tell every woman I know about Breathe Physical Therapy! I am so thankful for Dr Kaylee and the unbelievable experience I’ve had at Breathe.

Fantastic experience: Life changing! I had been struggling with leg pain for over a year that was making it hard to work and it made running almost impossible. I'd been to other clinics to no avail. Breathe had me almost completely back to normal in just a few visits! Everyone there is so caring and friendly and the atmosphere is so relaxing. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Rachel Gage, DPT was amazing to work with! I drove 2.5 hours each way to see Rachel in Des Moines and it was well worth the trip. Rachel was able to drastically improve the capsular contracture I got after having reconstructive surgery 6 years ago. Rachel was knowledgeable, kind and always took the time to address issues I had. I highly recommend going to Breathe, everyone I met there was so welcoming and kind!

Fantastic experience: I went to Breathe after I developed pelvic floor / prolapse issues and knew that physical therapy would be helpful. From my first phone call to make an appointment, I felt so welcomed! Everyone at Breathe is very professional, yet friendly and warm. I have been seeing Lily, and she has walked me through ways I can strengthen my pelvic floor, as well as maintain a healthy body in other ways- such as using correct posture, increasing core strength and the right way to lift things. I will be having a surgical correction soon, and know that Lily will help guide me through my recovery! I highly recommend Breathe!

Fantastic experience: The ladies at breathe are the best physical therapists I have ever worked with, and now are the only ones I will ever work with. I've been coming to breathe anytime I have needed help for the last three years. They've helped my pelvic floor after the birth of one of my children and a broken foot. Not to mention, the dry needling has been life changing. The entire staff is so friendly and welcoming. Dr. Liz is so patient, thorough and knowledgable. I love feeling that going to PT is a treat simply because of the people involved and how much they care about me as a patient.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Breath for several months and have had a very good experience; all of the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. I started seeing Liz for some pelvic floor issues a couple of months ago and I can't recommend her enough. I have made so much progress with her help and she has made a problem that is quite personal and uncomfortable manageable, and put me at ease through the process. I dreaded going to see a physical therapist and what that would entail...but she makes it easy, makes the appointments seem natural, never judges, and lends an understanding ear every time. I would recommend her and Breathe to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lily is awesome! For months she's now supported me through my twin pregnancy. I look forward to how much better this postpartum period will go with new tools and confidence to recover well. She is a rockstar at listening to any concerns you may have and helping you find solutions (from pain/modifying exercises to helping build a network including doulas and massage therapy). The office atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. Highly recommend Breathe!

Fantastic experience: I started going to breathe several years ago for an over active bladder. I could not believe how kind and down to earth everyone is here! After I had my baby earlier this year I came back and met with Jenni for several months! She made all of my appointments so enjoyable and it truly felt like I was chatting with one of my girl friends! Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lily is amazing and personable and really makes me feel comfortable discussing hard topics and makes me look forward to physical therapy every week! Honestly I’ve been to a lot of physical therapists in MN and IA and Breathe has by far been the best and most effective. The staff are so knowledgeable and especially are able to explain the body mechanics to me so I understand why I need to do this exercise or why that stretch works and it really helps with motivation. The front desk staff are a delight as well.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough good things about this place! If you're pregnant, have given birth, or care for little ones, you really need to check out Breathe! The front desk staff are beyond sweet, accommodating, and understanding. As a mom, the quickest way to my heart is to show love to my kid. When I didn't have extra hands to help me at appointments, the staff actually held and entertained my baby so I could get the care I needed while knowing my son would be cared for -- talk about going above and beyond! Within 5 months postpartum, Rachel G helped me get back to the activities I love doing in a gentle way. She not only helped me with my initial recovery, but she gave me the tools to support my body through the everyday strains of parenting. After birth, I wasn't sure if I'd ever feel "normal" again--and Rachel helped me get there.

Fantastic experience: I became a patient after reading a newsletter that described what I was experiencing. After 2 visits, I am 75% improved. Randi is my PT and I highly recommend her and the other therapists at Breathe. I feel that every women needs their very own pelvic floor physical therapist!

Fantastic experience: I cannot express how much Breathe has made a difference in my postpartum journey!! Anyone who has had a baby should seek out the guidance, support, and care provided in the most loving and empowering environment. I started working with Lily 5 weeks postpartum and she is amazing! Her level of knowledge, individual care, yoga background, and sweet personality has made it the best experience possible! I highly recommend Breathe to anyone looking for the best care and community around. They are the BEST!!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had such an amazing experience at Breathe! My pain (which has been chronic and debilitating for several years) has finally had some relief, even days completely pain free! I feel very supported and listened to by Dr. Stephanie during my appointments and I will continue to go throughout my pregnancy!

Kari J Ross 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I started going to Breathe. after a difficult delivery with my first child and a lot of pelvic floor pain. From the start, all the staff were super welcoming (one even held my crying infant during one of my sessions). Lily helped my pain decrease, while also giving me exercises/stretches to do at home, so I could continue working out. I could not recommend Breathe. enough, and truly believe every mother should visit during their newly postpartum time!

Fantastic experience: Breathe has been a wonderful place for care. The atmosphere and overall experience for care has been phenomenal! They truly listen to my needs, target my plan for MY history and have therapists that are experienced in what we need as women! Couldn’t recommend Breathe more. Stephanie has been amazing to work with for dry needling- the only treatment that has worked to reduce the intensity and frequency of my migraines. Amazing!!

Fantastic experience: I have been visiting Breathe for the last 2+ years. I initially visited because I wanted some specialized attention for postpartum that I didn’t feel I was getting from my general PT. Dr. Liz helped me work on strengthening my core after some separation post having my second child, work on my strength and conditioning for running my first half marathon and full marathon as well as seeing me through and after my third pregnancy and childbirth. She is absolutely amazing! All the staff there are fantastic and so welcoming. My husband actually also visits frequently for dry needling and PT for sports related injuries. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Breathe PT has helped me during my pregnancy and postpartum! The staff is so kind and welcoming. Would recommend to everyone who is looking to get support and prioritizing their physical health! The staff also loves on my baby while I’m at my appointments which has helped me so much in being able to go to my appointments!
