Fantastic experience: I stayed for two nights after being admitted from the ER. I loved how I was always informed of my status thru text. This method was much more efficient without getting up to check when I was going to be seen. All clinical staff nurse, front staff at ER were very thorough and caring. I felt secured when I was most sick. Technical guys who took me radiology where very helpful and helped me get untangle from my tubes (IV oxygen sensor and bp cuff). The doctors were very thorough and ordered all testings to determine my diagnosis and make me comfortable. Of course they found more than I expected. I was discharge feeling 100% better. My husband was with me throughout and was provided a chair that converted to a bed. The RN nurses taking care of me were all fantastic! I loved them! Their personalities were awesome! Thank you Veronica, Kevin, Mars and their Charge Nurse and and my discharge nurse who were all very caring with me. The phlebotomist were all very nice and caring. I loved my experience at this hospital and wouldn't hesitate to come back again. I highly recommend this hospital although they all would benefit with additional medical assistance. Even then, they made me feel highly cared for. RH

Fantastic experience: There is great Staff here at Kaiser Downey 24hr Hospital. Last month, I had a surgery and all staff were caring and pleasant with me. I’m very grateful and thankful for my Doctor and all Staff in Kaiser 24hr. Hospital Outpatient in Downey, CA I strongly recommend this hospital

Negative experience: If you can go somewhere else I highly recommend that you do so. Over 2 hours just waiting for lab work. I was told the minimum wait time would be 3 1/2 hours just for lab work mind you a woman in the waiting room said they took her lab work 4 hours ago and she still has not seen the doctor they sent her back to the waiting room. 4 hours she still waiting. People are in pain they won't even give anyone pain medication. I've almost passed out twice so I informed one of the Staff members. I was told we will see you if you pass out. Unbelievable !!!! Worst experience ever at Kaiser and I've been to Kaiser several times and have always been treated with respect and shown that they care. I mentioned that to nurse. He actually said we'll not here! WOW he actually said that. I will NEVER come to this facility again. I've seen several people leave to go to another facility .Not once has anyone come to waiting room just to check on a patient. A woman asked for something for the pain. She was told they would give her Tylenol that was 2 hours ago and just like me still has not been seen. This place is a hell hole!!!! If I had the energy I would have left already! If you can avoid coming here please do.

Fantastic experience: Was there last night and everyone from intake to discharge was awesome,ended after an 8' fall from a wall with L3& L4 fractures, thankfully not all the way and off from center so surgery is a maybe, and at almost 61 years old still doing good,Thank You especially to RN Caylin (?), spelling may be off, She's so sweet and nice,and Amy,(not sure of her title),who pushed my bed to the CT Scan Thank You too,have a wonderful and beautiful days ahead,Thank You All,..S.A.P.,

Fantastic experience: Kaiser is absolutley wonderful in my care ! The only thing is if you ever gocto the er and come accross a nurse named gabby ask for another nurse for you can be treated with dignity and respect !

Negative experience: I had major surgery on Tuesday and Kaiser Downey Hospital staff was trying to release me on Friday morning. The doctor that saw me on Saturday scared me. Told me I would be better off at home since they had a lot of super bugs at the hospital with no cure or antibiotics. I agreed to discharge, and now I am at home in worse pain with no help available. I asked my doctor to order a nurse to check on me at home, but my Dr. said it would not be necessary. Now I am regretting listening to my Dr. because I am in extreme pain without any help. I can't walk or drive due to the surgery. Worse part is they only prescribed me 650 ibuprofen every six hours. It's all about the money at Kaiser now. Unless you are a constant whinner, they will dismiss you. Since I am soft spoken I am not fairing very well.

Fantastic experience: I was in labor and delivery for 3 nights and four days. The nurses treated me like family Ann, Stephanie, and Diane. I felt like they genuinely cared. The doctors were great and I loved the pediatrician I don’t remember her name but I’ll never forget how she made me feel. The whole experience was just great and clean my husband was comfortable as well. I would recommend Kaiser Downey to family and friends.

Negative experience: i can say that my exp has been bad i have pots and dysautonomia and am in and out of the hospital alot and when i go to kaiser downey er alot of the drs treat me very badly they said my d dimmer was high and kept me in the er there is a blood clot and they wanna send me home i have a hystory of pe dont go here to often they wont help unless you are a women

Negative experience: So it seems like Kaiser Downey wants to take the silent route when it comes to trying to make things right for patients and their families. I emailed the KP address as listed in their numerous responses in hopes to find a helpful human to try to rectify the financial harm Kaiser has caused me in regards to my father’s vehicle being towed while he was incapacitated and waiting for open heart surgery. It’s been almost a week and I’ve heard nothing back. Not even an apology, no accountability, absolutely nothing. It’s beyond appalling and disgusting to me that my father pays good money for his insurance coverage and Kaiser being the multi million dollar corporation that it is has yet to take any responsibility for having a member’s vehicle towed while they are at the hospital on the verge of a heart attack and are awaiting a major operation. The staff here failed to notify their security company that his vehicle would have to remain until further notice because of the circumstances regarding his heart and the care he would be needing. I am his sole caregiver traveling out of state. His doctors and team knew this. He told them the unique type of vehicle he drives. They first reassured him his vehicle would be fine. I am out over $800 because of the vehicle tow fees. I was so distraught over having to tell my father what happened to his car in fear the stress would send him into cardiac arrest. To say I am beyond disappointed and completely disgusted by Kaiser is a brash understatement. I am so appalled at the lack of service, communication, and care into fixing a situation that my father did not cause. Kaiser does not care about its members and their families and their silence is very telling about the type of organization that they are.

Negative experience: This Kaiser Downey Hospital is the worst. I am in the 3rd floor at labor and delivery and waiting to see my new born grandbaby girl. I have been waiting here in thebwaiting room for 7 hours and I pleaded with the nurses 3 times if I could see my grandchild. And the nurses would not let me in because of the condition of my daughter in law. My son even pleaded with the charge nurse and they won't let me even switch with my son to see my grandbaby. I am so frustrated. I stood in the hallway and walked around because I was sitting for over 6 hours and the guard was mean to me and told me to go back to the waiting room or go downstairs to the main floor. He was so mean. I also had a bad experience here personally when I was hospitalized. The nurse just grabbed my arm with no hesitation and stabbed me with the IV needle to start the IV line and did not listen to my pleading to have my husband by my side. The nurse was so inconsiderate and so mean. I will never ever be a patient ever with Kaiser!!!!

Negative experience: I recently had my daughter and so she was in the Nicu for almost 2 months and they stressed me out a lot… so much gossip going on in regard me and my baby and not to mention how fast and eager were to rush my baby to be transferred to another Nicu because she wasn’t a Kaiser member… supposed to be about my baby’s health and they made it about money shm The only people who deserve a 5 star is her Doctor DR. Keel and nurse Melinda and Josie… amazing people

Fantastic experience: Transfered by ambulance from another hospital ER. The EMT's were excellent and caring. The ER care was excellent. When transferred to a shared room, more exceptional care began. I was very sick, but the doctors, nurses, and others who provided my care listened to my needs and treated me with kindness and respect. I'm very pleased with the 3 days I spent at Kaiser Hospital in Downey/Bellflower.

Fantastic experience: I brought my husband for emergency. It took us a little bit longer waiting than expected. But when we got inside. My husband was admitted overnight because of his abdominal pain. All the doctors and nurses took great care of my husband. They gave us our own room at the 4f west. They care about the privacy of the patients as well. The hospital/rooms are very clean and organized. They care about me as a visitor who is taking care of my husband. They understand that patients get lonely by themselves and asked if the patients want visitors or not. The room is very quiet so the patients can rest as it’s supposed to be to heal. Nurses always knock first before entering the room. There’s a pull out single bed in the room for a visitor. All the nurses asked me if I already ate and gave me food as well. We can’t complain. All the doctors and nurses are class and professional, they took time explaining everything in detail what’s going on with my husband. My husband feels a lot better when we got home. Negative experience: One of the worst experiences of my life, I was in terrible pain when I arrived, gall bladder attack, there was no compassion or empathy. I overheard the dr say he gave a patient the wrong meds. The wait time was terrible, over 6 hours. I've been a kaiser patient for many years and never had such a terrible experience. This was my first to this location since I moved and I don't think the quality of care is the same. Kaiser Ontario was better.

Negative experience: My goodness, this is my third time in the radiology department, and each time I have been here, I have received terrible service. The first time, I somewhat understand, since I got there 30 min late (I had gotten lost). The male who attended me made a face and made a phone call with a judgemental attitude to see if I can still be attended. When the response was no, it was as if it confirmed that "he was right in his thinking- we're not going to attend this lady who is late." I called to reschedule, I was told that they couldn't do it due to the system showing that I still had an appointment scheduled. I went in person to schedule the appointment, the person seemed somewhat new and helped me. Upon arriving to my appointment, I checked in and waited for about 25 min to be called in (note: this was for an ultrasound where I had to drink water an hour in advance without urinating since I'm pregnant) Once being called in, the male ultrasound tech was very unprofessional touchy. I made him aware that I was unconformable so he stopped and he was nice throughout the rest of the ultrasound. He wasn't able to see everything he had to since my baby was moving too much so I had to go back to reschedule another appointment. I waited in line (since I already know how the calls go) to be told that he can't help me schedule my appointment since there was a line. Wow. This was very upsetting and very uncalled for. Customer service is customer service and if others need to wait just as I waited for more than 5 min to be attended, so be it. Not only do they not service with a smile, but every time I come here, they make me feel unwelcome. This is not how a pregnancy experience should go for me or anybody else. This is my second baby with Kaiser, so I just called and scheduled my appointment elsewhere. I do not recommend people coming to this Downey Kaiser Hospital Radiology Department.

Negative experience: I wish I could give zero stars, but unfortunately that’s not an option. Doctor GENOVEVA AGUILAR was extremely rude and condescending to me when informing me I had tested positive for covid. It was a complete shock to me as my past experiences with covid have been much worse. She made me feel dumb for not knowing I had covid and I was feeling really stressed since I had my first day of classes the next day. (Which I now have to miss, but im aware that’s not her fault). Though, disregarding my clear distress, she basically said she has no idea when I will feel better even after being VERY clear about my symptoms, medications I’ve taken, how long I’ve experienced symptoms, etc. I left out no detail! I then asked if there was absolutely no medication she could prescribe me (which I feel is a completely normal question to ask) and she offered nothing but patronizing responses and told me there’s nothing she could do to help me… Then why are you a doctor? Not even recommendations on what to do to help my symptoms. Worst of all, she also proceeded to antagonize me and force a pregnancy test upon me even though I have not been active WELL over a normal pregnancy cycle!!! All because I forgot to TRACK my last menstrual cycle! Nonetheless, I still had it! She continued to pressure me into getting a pregnancy test for no probable reason, especially since she was not going to prescribe me any medication anyway. Eventually, she gave up because my mom had to step in and say NO for what felt like the tenth time!!!! EXTREMELY unprofessional on her behalf and I felt very uncomfortable the entire visit. It’s saddening because I have had way better experiences at smaller urgent cares in my town which upsets me since I switched to Kaiser thinking I would receive better health care here. So far that has been proven to be false. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a health care professional. I Do not recommend and I really hope she gets some retraining because this is NOT how you should treat a patient. **update: I took a look at her general ratings and she has an average of three stars! Makes so much sense. Just so unfortunate I had to spend two hours waiting, just for this to be my experience and considerably ended up leaving feeling worse than I came in.**

Negative experience: Poor service! People waiting on excess of 7 hours and not seen by a provider. No timeline to be seen and no updates by the staff. This is not right for a major hospital to ignore patients needs. We all pay premiums or insurance for their health care service. Try another Kaiser ER. I will it be returning here and definitely rethinking my healthcare providers.

Fantastic experience: Great hospital with very professional staff. I got 5 star treatments from the entrance until I discharge. The staff is very polite and courtiers. Very clean hospital and the beds are so comfortable. I am really happy with the treatments I got. The nurses are full of smile and very polite. Great place to visit for your medical needs. Fantastic experience: Although my stay was 6 days after delivering my baby, all nurses involved in my care team were great! Fantastic experience: i came to kaiser as a first time paitient i had no expectations of n e thing good every time i go to drs they usually ignore me and put a bandaid on my symptoms which irks me but i work for a living cant take time off so as a first time paitient i expected the worse come to my surprise the longest wait of my visit was getting my meds which the girls at the Front Desk were so kind to me and gave me meds asap my telehealth appointment was so on time no delay or lag i literally gave my symptoms to the nurse and Dr hearing my voice already knew what was wrong n gave me the correct meds and with in hours i felt relief best center ever!!! love the fastness and kindness they gave me will go back if i feel sick

Fantastic experience: 5/4/24 - 5/6/24 Hospital Stay Let me first begin as I approached the security station upon entering ER, employees greeted me, smiled. When I mentioned I could not stand in waiting line due to my heart one immediately went and got a chair to wheel me to the front station and they took me in without much wait. Dr. Levine met with me, very professional, courteous. After tests etc., I then was taken up to 5East room 5301. During my stay, my day and night nurses were Erin Jung, Sylvia Rizzen, Sylvia Crane each one exceptional and greeted me at once and came across professional, friendly with pleasant attitudes. Their day and night supervisors also came to introduce themselves. I know I can’t remember one of their names who worked with Erin Jung, during the day, then there be Amber, Jennifer. The last engagement I had was with Myleen Rosal RN to discuss follow-up with cardiology out-patient unit. She herself was amazing and professional. She insisted she would follow-up with me to assure I followed her instructions, which she did, but I missed her call/ So appreciative of each employee. All nice and courteous. ;Again, all staff in my conversing with them shared positive things about their working environment even food tray delivery very friendly and courteous. Workers felt comfortable talking to me sharing their praises for their working relationships with other employees on their floor and for their interactions with Jason. Comments about how employees are pleasant, get along with one another, good working atmosphere where employees want to come to work. All had positive things to share. Not one negative comment, it amazed me. One last comment about “Jason James.” He seems to be a very humble person who has exceptional ability to manage his team well. He had lots of good things to say about his team and it showed to me the respect his team has for him. Many staff expressed gratitude for their co-workers and team effort and enjoyed working on this floor 5East under ACO, Jason. Many employees shared his ability and skill to manage and care for employees, he also shared good comments about his team. It was certainly clear his leading and management had made a world of difference to how the patients as well as positive working environment on this floor radiated out to me and I am sure many others. I, myself, once employed in management position of clerical staff in State Department can elicit, “The staff is only as good as their management be and that speaks of Jason James and whoever else in position manages this 5E team below him. I give them 5+ stars. Dr. Moreno was very pleasant and caring and attentive. Not rushing to get to other patients. So appreciative. Again: • Positive engagement with this patient. • I was well cared for, listened to, tended to, needs met without wait. • All confident, personable. • Conduct evidenced respect and willing to extend themselves to make patient’s stay positive. • Management promotes pleasant working atmosphere with and between co-workers. • It was clear employees valued their employment and enjoyed their work assignments, which makes an enormous difference in not only workplace but in those being cared for. The employees came across confident in their interaction with me and with each other and holding many strengths in conducting their work assignments. Being a Kaiser member for many years there are many wonderful employees and then some. Yet, not during this visit. Kaiser ought value and recognize each employee mentioned in this unit. This experience cannot be topped. I was well cared for. I am thankful that during my few days I was fortunate to be attended to by such a wonderful group of professionals and people. Linda Hartsook

Fantastic experience: Best hospital to deliver a baby they make you feel like if you are taken care by your mom, so kind, helpful and everybody makes sure that you are feeling well and happy. Fantastic experience: Had a serious Ebike accident on a Saturday. Went to Kaiser Downey ER that morning and eventually transferred to the hospital for a 5 day stay due to a partially collapsed lung. Everyone including the doctors, nurses, and support staff were great! I was well attended to and received excellant care.

Fantastic experience: Kaiser Permanente is a huge business with hundreds of employees. I am of Medicare age and thus my insurance provider. I was treated with the utmost respect, care, consideration and support. Not just once, but daily, during my ENTIRE admission. I was not treated any different from a rich person with loads of money to pay for admission. The MDs and PAs rounded daily, explaining everything that happened and what was to happen going forward. My complaints were IMMEDIATELY addressed and worked up. Even my hygiene was never left out. I thank GOD for such wonderful people to cross my path.

Fantastic experience: I visited this place on 4/27, and these are my observations: The good: The urgent care staff is very efficient and friendly when seeing people. The bad: No cafeteria services on-site and ha e to walk about three blocks to get to it. The ugly: Nothing found

Negative experience: Spent 8 hours in the emergency room while In pain from two kidney stones and all I needed was some pain meds and I wouldn't have minded but was told to wait so I had to go to the pharmacy and get my own Aleve which helped some from 10pm to 6am I waited in pain to be seen if I could give no stars I would please go anywhere else but here unless you want to die possibly and unnessessarily

Negative experience: I have always seen Kaiser as a prestigious hospital, this is the first time my sister was hospitalized at this location , a few weeks ago she was at the Irvine location and they gave her the best care. This location has been the worst experience we’ve ever had from any hospital. The staff was not attentive and they left medication out in the open for grabs in the room, left equipment to clean her tube out in the open for 2 days. I had told the nurse and nursing station but no one went in to clean it. Very disappointing and so unsanitary.

Positive experience: From my husbands stay, only two nurses made us feel safe and comfortable. We will be filling out a Daisy's Award for them. We might need to find out one of their last names. The Emergency room is such a difficult experience already. But the Nurses make it more difficult. They show very little empathy, give little information, it feels like just talking to them bothers them. They don't provide information about the medications or just say this are the medications the doctors order. We have to ask all the questions, like for what, which medication is it? We wanted my husbands fever to be monitored and one of the nurse seem bothered by us asking. Let's just say we didn't feel safe or comfortable with the most of the Nurse's. The Doctors also make it seem like they don't read the chart, they have mixed information and missed information about they symptoms or reason why we were there. We did not even get a clear diagnosis and then we move to the hospital and found out they had written a diagnosis. We transfer from Urgent Care with ambulance and they still asked us the same questions over and over. The paramedics also had wrong information. At the ambulance entrance more privacy needs to be implemented and don't be by yourself. We saw an elderly women and she was just ignored and not check-in with. We moved to being admitted to the Hospital, we only had one Nurse there who made us feel safe and comfortable. The rest if the nurses are dismissive and give little to no information. They show really little empathy. They make us feel like we can't ask questions, and some say that they don't know. We didn't even know the diagnosis until like a day before we left, even though we kept asking. The bad information is frustrating. If it was not for me checking online the results and doing my own research, we would of been lost with the information they gave us. The good thing is they do have detail information online.

For patients that go to ER that are not in need of emergency care make things worse for the patients that do need the care.I have been hospitalized here multiple times for many days and nights do to a condition that I have. Negative experience: No help of services for homeless Veterans who are in need of immediate assistance. Social Worker and or workers show remarkable ineptitude. Offered zero assistance, handed me Veteran resource paperwork and left. Wrong answer! I'm literally stranded at this hospital with no support. This is the treatment I get for serving my country as a combat war veteran. Shameful.

Negative experience: I went in to this place on Monday and I got the glue! By going here I’m on day 4 of the flu top it off my baby ad my toddler got sick for going to this numb hospital!!! YOU GUYS NEED TO PEARN TO CLEAN everything at least ever 1 to 2 hours!!! Ad what’s crazy the only think I touched was the elevator button and the door to the bathroom what’s crazy is that I take my kids to choc hospital all the time if there sick AND NOT ONCE! have I got sick there! U guys need to do a better job!! I seen ur worker clean the bathroom they do not sanitize anything down! U guys should be spraying the door handles the elevator buttons EVERYTHING! SO PPL DONT GET SICK!!!! And please don’t come on here telling me sorry for ur experience because u guys don’t do anything about it!!! I’ve read ur guys reviews ad it’s the same problems over and over just please sanitize ur guys area a lot better because u guys are a hospital!

Fantastic experience: No one wants to be in the hospital. I can't say enough about the entire team on the 5th floor east. They were professional, kind, patient, and always there to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. If I ever have to be in the hospital again I hope it is there. I even loved every (vegan) meal I had. Forever grateful.

Negative experience: Stay stay stay away! If you can take your loved ones elsewhere, do so. The quality of care that this facility has to offer is horrendous. My mother (89 yrs old) was brought in by ambulance to the ER from urgent care (where she had been since noon)and checked in at 5:20pm. She laid on a thin gurney until 10:43 pm at which time I received a call that an ER bed was finally available. Dr came in after midnight to brief me on her condition and I had to ask if she can have something to eat and drink. One gracious nurse brought her something at 12:15 am. My mom had been at Kaiser now for a total of 12 plus hrs and nothing had been offered to her if I hadn’t asked. It makes me wonder what it would be like if she was there alone??? It is now after 1 am and she’s waiting for a room to open up so they can transport her upstairs. Now let me preface this by stating that I fully understand hospital protocol and priority is given to situations that are deemed dire. However, if no one ever verbalizes this under par standard of care, it will continue as long as we allow it. You need to do better!! The waiting room looked like a county hospital; filthy and crowded, with a minimum of 4 1/2 hrs of wait time is what we were told when we arrived. My parents have been Kaiser patients for decades and unfortunately are afraid to switch coverage because this is all they know. I pray I’m not the only one to speak up and that you will take action to make Kaiser standards what they once were. I actually over heard 3 nurses complain about how they don’t get their breaks and lunch break because it’s so busy, and then one states “ I go to lunch anyway, I don’t care if no one can cover me!” This should not be a subject discussed within ear shot of patients! Under staffed or not… This is shameful! Every Kaiser patient needs to contact member services to file a formal complaint to voice their concerns so something will be done. You don’t get what you don’t ask for! You have not, because you ask not!

Negative experience: Horrible service at the orange building 226 floor. The medical assistant are really rude. Hispanic lady really doesn't have any connection with the patient. I notice how rude they are if you try to ask a question the answer is "I don't know" ask the doctor. Ruthless. (M.A)

Positive experience: Kaiser is not what they used to be. I have been with them for decades, but this year I have thought about changing to a different insurance. Mom was just in the hospital. You voice your concerns to the doctor and nurse, and the next day, it's a different doctor and nurse, and your concerns weren't passed on and you have to repeat yourself every day, and then they go ahead and prescribe antibiotics that drive Mom to hallucinate or have seizures, or give her stool softeners when we warn that she has diarrhea because they automatically give everybody stool softeners. Very frustrating!

Negative experience: Never go to the emergency here! I came in screaming and crying in pain the people here din’t care at all and told my husband that I had a 3 hour wait smfh no pain medicine, I couldn’t stay still because of the pain , the nurse taking my vitals kept saying stay still smh I was in sooo much pain that they dint care one bit, my husband kept asking them when will she be seen and the nurses there got mad and would give him attitude, I was the only one crying and screaming like a crazy woman and no one gave a f! this is the worst experience ever! if I can give them a 0 star I would. The nurses here hate their job let me tell u and have no compassion for the sick They do not prioritize in pain patients vs sick patients So if your ever in pain pain DO NOT COME HERE! I hate this place like I have never hated anything ever! At the end I left and came in to st Francis hospital and they helped me right away

Fantastic experience: I have always had excellent care here. I recently had something that appears to be a stroke, but is actually a migraine. I was admitted to the hospital and every conceivable test was run to make sure that the diagnosis was accurate. I was then referred to a neurologist for follow up care. I have been with Kaiser for years and have never had a bad experience.

Negative experience: Be warned! If you call 911 and live in Norwalk or Cerritos, EMTs will not bring you to Kaiser. Instead they'll route/triage your loved one to a garbage hospital--Coast Plaza Hospital--on Studebaker where they will not get decent care, if at all. If at all physically possible, drive your loved one directly to the Kaiser emergency room where they can't turn you away.
Negative experience: My sister in law went in to have her baby and they made her first labor experience a nightmare. No doctor able to see her. Having her in pain and telling her that they are busy. Nurses left and right but none that speak Spanish. Than when it was time to push no doctor available and when he finally comes in he is upset and mad. Hearing her labor story felt like a nightmare I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel that way during one of the most memorable moments in your life.
Fantastic experience: I came into the ER very sick . I was taken care of wright away as I was in critical condition. I was there for 6 nights 7 days and The doctors and nurses couldn’t had been kinder than what they were. Very professional service from all the staff. Actually the food was not bad either as the first few days I really didn’t eat due to being so sick . But nurse crystal , Maria plus many more was very kind . My doctor was outstanding . I been around the world as professionally pilot but this hospital is the best . I will strongly recommend this hospital to my own family and friends . Thank you Downey hospital . , Beautiful room

Positive experience: Super busy place, and the capacity is not related with that they need. I’m here since 11 am having shortness of breath, looks like this is a priority, but I’m thinking is not, because is close to 4 pm and I had not be attended. Before myself there were four people on the line, and the time access to the triage team was 45 minutes. Team is nice and they do what they can, just super short staffed. But in the case of a bigger capacity than the current 80 beds in total, I’m pretty sure they will handle it better. Nicol, the RN was outside telling us in loud voice, “we are full no beds are available at this time, we are doing our best, the estimated time for you to be attended is 4 hours.” That was a similar situation for Kaiser urgent care, that was the reason, I asked on my phone call and they sent me to come to the hospital (time and in my condition). Similar to a tourist travel, right? The waiting time was chaotic, and one lady taking her mom for assistance, she fainted, the guard helped her get up, and looked for a chair to accommodate her. There were few chairs available in the waiting room. At the end, close to 5 pm, I received attention. John was the RN in charge, a compassionate person, very knowledgeable, I felt blessed to have his attention. The doctor was nice too, brief but very nice. Place is nice buildings, fountains, tons of common areas to contemplate, but not beds. Health team works under the deep pressure to know there is a big line of people needing them, but not beds are available. Thank you guys, God bless you for being so nice in the moments we need. I’m sorry to said not to the nice lady offering me the flu shot, she tried hard, but my body was too busy identifying what I have. I told you on my next medical appointment I’ll do. The minute after I received my treatment, my doctor notes, my prescription and indication, I was released. At that moment (close to 8 pm) I was another human being, with dignity. Thanks. Waiting time in pharmacy was fair about 20 min. Sad thing is when I left, a line of more than 100 people were already formed. Waiting for attention. To Management, please add more resources in beds, X-ray equipment, EKG, MRI, resting area and some comfort for workers. Everyone works hard (securities, pharmacy, cashiers, nursers, doctors, technicians, janitors, dietitians, vaccination, everyone) luxury is nice and good management salaries too, but at least invest more in beds, equipment and in your team! Do not forget that contributors, we are looking also where our resources are going. In my case (15k by year) is not a few, my employer is the county, and they add the same. I just want to tell you quality and opportunity are perfection, please improve in opportunity what is taking a big part in the people’s assumption of your quality. Thanks.

Negative experience: Emergency Room doctor was horrible to my my mom and dad He started that there is nothing that could be done for her gastrial adenocarcinoma and walked away. He left my mom and dad crying. That is one horrible ER doctor. For the past 6 months she has been receiving treatment for gastrial adenocarcinoma froma very poor oncologist. The oncologist followed up monthly and only tracked her treatment and illnes on a monthly basis for a very aggressive form of cancer. During that period she had to go to the ER numerous times for the illness and bad side effects. The oncologist did not address these issues and told her that the cancer meds are to reduce the tumor for surgery and that was it. She did not follow-up with CT scans on frequent basis and did.not offer any other treatment options. . Now we find out the treatment she received was not working and the oncologist wrote my my my mom off for hospice. This poor excuse.of an Oncologist did.not provide. the level of care for.such a very aggressive form of cancer. She is going to get another Oncologist. Kaiser Permanente has horrible specialist.
Fantastic experience: They treated me so on the floor and especially the emergency room doctor and my lady nurse she was amazing they both were amazing. I wish I had those two names but once they get this they will know they have really helped me. I will travel to downy Kaiser instead of Baldwin park you guys rock at Downy don’t change just keep doing good and treat patients well. Thank you to my Emergency room doctors I had one leave and the next doctor came in and ordered 70 test. He is my blessing thank you doctor for helping me I felt like I was dying you all helped me. I’m not completely better but I’m grateful and I’m getting there thanks to your awesome care.

Negative experience: A veces pienso cuál es la diferencia de pagar algo tan caro que ir a un hospital nacional me tarde 7 horas.cuando el doctor me dijo te puedes ir, nomás va venir el enfermero a quitarte las cosas donde me sacaron sangre ..el enfermero se tardó como 40 minutos en llegar ..llegó y después me dijo ahorita vengo voy por los papeles otra media hora ....no digo q es tan malo nomás que se puede ser más eficiente..

Negative experience: This is by far the most unfriendliest, less patient caring facility I have ever been to. I will be changing insurance, in October.

Negative experience: Today 11/09/2022 here at the ER waiting with my 5yr old to be seen…but What is going on at Kaiser ER here in the city of Downey? They have turned the ER into a blood draw station! That’s what they have been doing for the past 3 hrs that we have been waiting. It’s a shame Kaiser is going downhill..we’ll it has been for a while!

Positive experience: Kaiser security staff is pointless. The bathrooms are often not clean, the wait times are extensive. Pharmacis especially at hospital needs more seating and more staff. Lines are always ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: So for years I've avoided Kaiser because of stuff that I've heard about Kaiser but at my job we got an insurance option and everyone that has Kaiser at my job love's Kaiser so I decided to give them a chance. And I've got to admit they're pretty impressive I am happy with them so far.

Negative experience: Kaiser made 100s of millions last year and continue to build and modernize facilities but won't staff their ERs so that patients don't have to wait 6 hours or longer to see a doctor. If you're not having a stroke or heart attack you might as well make an appointment to see your physician.....it might be faster.

Negative experience: The ER intake RNs are horrible. It felt like I was at the old DMV. I say old as the DMV has improved. The one at window 1 on Friday night dressed in all blue was terrible. I am thinking her name is Katrina. I could be wrong, but lady you need to work on your people skills.

Negative experience: My elderly parent had a fall where she hit her knee and head. They took X-rays then sent her home. As days went on, her whole leg became bruised and swollen so she called her doctors office back because of the pain only to be told it’s normal. A week and half later she went to her therapy appointment only to be told she has a fractured knee cap!! Unbelievable and ridiculous that they could not see this fracture in the beginning.
Fantastic experience: It gives me great pleasure to write this review. I took my sister to Kaiser Downey this weekend and the service she received from DR. Jimmy Diep was superior. He is such a caring, kind, respectful and knowledgeable doctor. I am sure he treats all his patients the same way he treated my sister. Kaiser Permanente Downey is lucky to have Dr. Diep. Thank you, Dr. Diep for all you do for you patients. Keep doing what you do! 8/2/23 Thank you Sarah ( 5th floor nurse manager) and Kevin ( house supervisor) for addressing my concerns and for making sure my sister gets adequate care in the hospital.

Negative experience: The WORST experience ever . I barely came out of this hospital with my mother who i brought to receive emergency care , The nurses and assistants are very rude , careless , not polite at all , unprofessional. Im a surprised to see how people can act like that . Not taking my mother back to kaiser permanente. Made a report left from the hospital and no one asked the reason why , the guy who drew blookd from my mom. , told me you should of told me that you were gonna leave i would of not had put the iv on her .
