Fantastic experience: Review of Performance Ortho: Worth the Read! This review is long overdue, but I wanted to share my experience in detail because it’s absolutely worth the read. I first visited Performance Ortho last year after struggling with severe neck pain that drastically limited my movement and quality of life. From my first appointment, the team was incredibly thorough, taking the time to fully understand the source of my pain and guiding me through exercises tailored to my needs. After just eight weeks of therapy, my neck was pain-free, and I was able to get back to my normal life. A few months later, I faced a new challenge: my right shoulder froze. Any attempt to move my arm or shoulder resulted in excruciating pain, and I was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder along with a rotator cuff tear. Surgery was recommended, but the team at Performance Ortho worked closely with me, applying their expertise and skill to help me avoid an operation. Within three months of therapy, I had regained about 70% mobility in my shoulder without undergoing surgery. Now, five months after completing my therapy, I am thrilled to say that I have regained full mobility in my shoulder. Just yesterday, I lifted my arm above my head and placed it behind my back without any pain—something I couldn’t have imagined doing just a short time ago. The professionals at Performance Ortho truly work magic with their hands. Their dedication, expertise, and personalized approach to therapy have changed my life, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Negative experience: Went for OT services; the atmosphere was very noisy; small space with lots of tables and people talking, and very little floor room for exercises. As I had Long COVID, on my request, with the Dr. Permission, I was offered a private room 1x week (even tho I was going 3 x week). When it came time to use the private room they told me they could not make this accommodation. I transferred out to another establishment. My visits were considered out of network to Performance Rehab. My insurance co. sent me the checks for payment and I hand deliver them to Performance Rehab and sign each check in front of their desk staff. A few months later I get a letter from THEIR LAWYER stating I never paid/brought the checks to them. They have no accounting of payment. I suggest lawyer check back with them as I certainly did deliver. Another couple months later I receive from the lawyer a Demand for Payment to Avoid Legal Action letter. I contact my insurance company. YEP, PERFORMANCE REHABILITATION CASHED ALL THE CHECKS I BROUGHT TO THEM AND WERE STILL CLAIMING THAT I HAD NOT PROVIDED PAYMENT!! I was then required to prove, via cashed checks which were signed and stamped by THEM, and furnish them to THEIR lawyer to prove my innocence! Clearly there is establishment record keeping/financial incompetence on their parrt and whether intentional or accidental, they were trying to get double payment from me. Clients beware....

Fantastic experience: Professional hands on staff...they provide thorough evaluations and excellent follow-up treatments...Love working with this team...they are innovative with physical therapy exercises and my progress is beyond my expectations...I had an TIA stroke 3 years ago with complications of arthritis in my knees and a weak back. Performance Rehab provides a one stop shop healthcare...I've had injections in my knees for arthritis, Chiropractic treatment for my back pain and of course Physical Therapy for my stroke recovery...

Fantastic experience: Performance is a well-oiled machine (if machines had feelings). You get a whole team of people working to understand your issues and make you better. They are consistently upbeat, which can be a huge benefit when you have acute chronic pain. Never waited more than 5 minutes for my appointments—most often they are waiting for me when I walk in the door and we get to work immediately. Plus, they’re genuinely NICE people that make you feel cared for.

Fantastic experience: I am a 24 y/o professional soccer player who plays in Europe. 6 months ago I had a small rupture in my quad. 5 weeks ago I aggravated the old injury. I arrived at Performance Rehabilitation in Somerset after testing multiple physical therapist providers across New Jersey. The moment I walked in, from the receptionists to the PTs to the doctors, I was welcomed with open arms. My treatment plan was extremely strategic, in a way that took into account my required timeline, past injuries, and availability. Over the course of the 5 weeks, my PT, Dr. Mack, and my chiropractor, Dr. Witek, made my recovery their top priority. Their attention to detail, level of knowledge, and care process was beyond comforting. They are top professionals and even better people. Overall, I am returning back to the field feeling stronger than even before my injury. They sent me off with confidence in my quad and a maintenance plan for longevity. To all my teammates, I now recommend Performance Rehab in Somerset. I also recommend it to my family as the PT/doctors and the supportive environment serve to completely uplift the trajectory of one’s recovery.

Fantastic experience: I went to Performance Rehab after surgery for a broken wrist. I had a permanent plate to support my wrist and it was quite stiff and had little mobility when I started. Everyone was quite friendly and listened carefully to what I said about pain and movement. They also explained why and what the importance of the exercises were. They never forced anything too difficult or rushed me. Every session was a little different with new exercises introduced so it never became monotonous or boring over the 2 months I was a participant. Thank you Dominique and Christine for all of your help!!

Fantastic experience: The front desk ladies are always very pleasant and great you when you arrive. With my initial consultation I was very pleased with the staff. After having Stem Cell therapy my knee is healing nicely and the physical therapy is very helpful. Now we are working on both my shoulders.

Negative experience: Frustrating bill handling ruined any positive experiences. When I started I signed paperwork saying I wouldn’t be charged over $6000. They wouldn’t bill me or show me billing till end. I asked about it numerous times but was assured it wouldn’t be over $6000 like the paperwork I signed stated. 6 months later I get my bill for over $13000 after insurance paid them. Each 1 hour session I was being billed either $1200 or $1500. They kept telling me I had to see the on site doctor sometimes even though I didn’t want to and I was getting billed $500 for a quick 5 minute conversation with them. I tried to reach billing for almost a month but they did not answer their phone or return calls. I asked my insurance what was going on and they informed me they sent checks to Performance but they couldn’t stop Performance from charging me more. Finally I got fed up and drove to Performance to try to get some answers but was informed the bill made no sense but I had to speak with Billing. I gave them a down payment and said I’m not paying any more until this gets cleared because it doesn’t make sense and no one is telling me anything besides I have a bill for $13000. I actually got 1 call from Billing after my visit telling me to call them back but I was at a meeting at work. I tried calling and left messages several times but they went back to ignoring everything. At this point I was beyond frustrated, which caused me to write this review, at the lack of information and no way to find out what was going on and what I owed and why I was getting billed so much. The next month I got a new bill but that had most of the charges removed but there was an additional charge for $1200 that Performance had sent me another mail on saying that my insurance paid them for the date of service. Again I couldn’t reach Billing so I just drove back to Performance and told them that I was going to pay my balance excluding that $1200 because my insurance already paid them for it. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. Edited on 6/16/23 as I have finally was able to speak with Billing and can confirm I won’t get any additional charges. Months after the fact I was informed that the bill statement is higher than what I owed. If this information was communicated to me earlier or if Performance waited until they sent me a bill so that correctly reflected what I owed it would have saved me so much frustration. Now whenever I hear about that company I just get angry and don’t want to deal with or think about them.

Fantastic experience: It’s always a pleasure to visit Performance. They are always courteous, flexible and on time. The clinical team explains what they are doing, why and keeps close tabs on how well I’m handling it. I’ve seen significant improvement in the past 4-5 weeks since my injury.

Fantastic experience: I came there in pain and hobbling like someone on their way to needing a permanent walker. After two weeks, I am getting up, standing up, walking pain free. They are state of the art, have a super friendly great staff, they listen, they are hands on and fully engaged with their patients from the front desk all the way through each modality.
