Pivot PT- Alexandria (Duke Street)

Fantastic experience: Therapist is attentive to needs and makes sure you are comfortable during therapy.

Negative experience: Update: Concerns & requests not being taken seriously. Hold up in the billing dept & unable to finalize things. The person who reached out seemed condescending and dismissive of my issue. Asked me if I could delete my review b/c it’s being noticed. Here’s my reason for the review… The PT, Deseryee is good. But, there isn’t anyone that works the front desk along w/mgr and the only person that does - must be new to working with people, having manners, billing or any job that requires general common sense because some concepts are beyond comprehension for them. If you were in a car accident, insurance, copays or have deferred payments due to an ongoing matter that will not be understood. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS LOCATION if you appreciate accuracy. I have encountered her poor behavior 3 different times where she’s behaved like a bill collector who caught me on the run…because that makes sense when I have to visit them twice a week… I got stopped the first time and she spoke to me like I was pulling one over on my PT and not paying my bill to which I told her I did and was up to date on payments…then she checked and instead of leaving it at that went on to say well you’ll need to pay your copay today. Which, again, I did. When I increased my visits and it became expensive to make 2 visits a week, I completed a form to have the payments deferred…the next time I ran into her she says “oh you owe us money and haven’t been making your payment's”…ma’am you spoke to my lawyer and handed me the form to complete. Then she looks at me as if I’m lying and realized I did complete the form. Last straw was today…I was asked to change my appt and move it up. I did. So as I’m rushing to leave work early to get back into the area to accommodate their request…she calls me to tell me my insurance isn’t accepted and they won’t see me again to which I responded you all have been seeing me for 2 months now. Then calls me again to tell me oh no we will see you but you owe us copayments…then calls me to tell me I can come in but they need to start collecting payments according to her manager. The back to back calls under 15 minutes with the attitude and inaccurate information, so confidently with the support of her manager was enough to make me realize I would rather remain in pain than to deal with this level of disrespect. If nothing else you will be blown away by the level of incompetence. It’s quite impressive. She’s been so confidently wrong I had to get on the phone with my lawyer to verify the nonsense I had to listen to. When I walked in to ask her if she called me…the response was “Oh! It was you?” Again, realizing she made a mistake but there’s a level of patience you can maintain and then you get tired of being talked to like that. Even if she didn’t realize who it was - she should not have spoke to anyone that way. And the fact that her manager encouraged it shows that the incompetency goes a bit further than the front desk employee. After her realization I made it clear I no longer want to be serviced there due to the many of mixups and she said “Ok you want me to cancel your appointment?” - AGAIN, lack of accountability and common sense. Needless to say I did not care for the experience. Definitely the most disgusting and disrespectful treatment going on here with their clients and cannot place why and by who…the manager encouraging her employee to give clients the shake down?! Or the employee thinking she sees a foreign name, disrespectfully make false claims, and speak to people like that?! Also, I found it hilarious that two of them were sitting at the front desk today - one eating the other one (who has been harassing me w/incorrect info) slouched down in her chair - yet NO ONE ever answers the phone there. So, you can call for important reasons or questions but they will never answer. Now, when they want to provide you false information, bill collect or share their thoughts without facts, they will be sure to pick up that phone to call you! Only gave this place 1 star b/c of recent experience. HORRIBLE.

Negative experience: Great staff and PT treatment; however the billing system is a joke. Not worth the back and forth hassle with the admin team in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: Marcello is the best pt I have been lucky enough to see through my recovery from shoulder surgery. His knowledge and experience in his craft is greatly appreciated. I couldn’t have made it this far in my recovery without his skills. Thank you Marcello!

Negative experience: Great atmosphere but they refuse to follow doctors orders. If you need soft tissue massage, they are only willing to do about 10 minutes and on to the next client. I showed them the video and they spent 15 minutes telling why they couldn’t follow what the doctor asked. It’s because they only have 40 minutes with each person and they overlap appointments. Love u guys but I choose to follow what my doctor said. No hard feelings just personal preference.

Negative experience: Young people on the front desk and very unprofessional, not able to give you the right information. They don't know how to treats and approach a customer. The physical therapist BRANDON SHEEHAN very unprofessional guy! He had 3 people at the same time doing my physical therapy and he was not paying attention how I was doing if wrong or right. My appointment supposed to start 5pm and always started late pm and finish by 5:30. I was basically doing the same thing every time I went there. Waste of money and time. I also had 2 times appointment with Desiree (Assistant physical therapist) and one day Bradon changed and cancelled the appointment I had with her and put with him without asking me anything before. Bradon is trying to have many people in the same times and if not he super quick with you. He doesn't really care about your broken ankle!!! IF he does this to make more money doing physiotherapist wit 2-3 people at the same time, he should know this is illegal and not professional way to work. He doesn't care about you.

Fantastic experience: I worked with Desyree and she is by far the best PT I have ever had. She is a great listener and super easy to communicate with. I also liked that at PIVOT your PT is focused on YOU for the duration of your appointment. I've been to other places where they do a manipulation and then it's up to you to do the exercises and the PT is on to another patient. Not at PIVOT. It's a great place and I had a very good experience there.

Fantastic experience: Marcello is an outstanding Physical Therapist. He is knowledgable, pleasant, listens well, and is great to work with overall. Great treatment, super location with plenty of parking.

Fantastic experience: I started going to Pivot PT on Duke St. Alexandria, five weeks ago. It was the closest PT to my house, but what a lucky find. Kyle Pulford amazin hgly analyzed my knee and got me into exercises right away. He applied tape to my knee that helped reduce the swelling and pain. I highly recommend Kyle and Pivot.

Fantastic experience: I started going to Pivot on Duke ST in Alexandria 3 months ago for my right foot. With it being my first time going to PT, I was a little skeptical. The team at Pivot made me feel so comfortable; in other words, their professionalism, patience and consistency are top notch! I never felt rushed there and my right foot has not felt this good in 3 years. I owe a huge thank you to my Physical Therapist Michael Rios and the Pivot team. I highly recommend Pivot to anyone looking to get on their road to recovery.

Fantastic experience: I had my first PT session ever with Emily. She was great. Very thoughtful and through about the type of therapy I need. The staff was friendly and it was nice to hear that they even have a bilingual person in the check- in area. Way to go! Very glad I chose this location.

Fantastic experience: I had a long-haul injury that required multiple days of physical therapy for several months. I am so glad I found Pivot. It was easy to find convenient times to fit the appointments into my schedule. Parking was easy, and the facilities were great. The staff was amazing. Toward the end of my recovery, Kelly even found ways to tailor my therapy appointments toward getting me back into my sport, which felt amazing.

Fantastic experience: PIVOT PT is EXCELLENT! I love the atmosphere the entire group has created at this location! The Therapists, their assistants and even those working hard at the front desk are all kind, very helpful and extremely friendly! At first I thought I could improve on my own without PT but I was so wrong! After a month of doing what I thought was best, my pain only increased. Then after working with Kyle at PIVOT for 6 weeks I was able to walk again without limping and suffering from intolerable pain! Kyle is super fabulous! Not only is he very patient, funny and enthusiastic but he thoroughly explained each exercise, how to avoid further injury, noted every part of my progress, and would not let me get discouraged over setbacks! Shoutout to Madison who was also available to work with me on one occasion and she is super fantastic!

Fantastic experience: I wanted to share what a big fan I am of Pivot Physical Therapy. When in need, I always go to Pivot for PT. I visit the Alexandria, VA location and really trust my go to therapist (Kelly) as well as all the other well trained and friendly therapists and staff.

Fantastic experience: I was sent to Pivot by Dr. Angelo Pace because of issues with my left foot. I worked with Kyle Pulford and Lauren for two and a half months. My left foot became strengthened and the exercises helped me to make rapid progress. They were kind, attentive and explained a lot about the foot and leg muscles that helped me (the layperson) understand the treatment given a lot better. As my foot got better, I was able to return to regular exercise after a short while. I am very pleased with the care and consideration I was given at the Duke Street location. I also had fun while doing the exercises because they were so kind and supportive. So glad I chose this organization and can now continue the exercises independently at home. Fantastic experience: Really knowledgeable therapists that understand individual needs of each person. Courteous, caring, and patient. It’s very obvious their goal is to get the patient better.

Fantastic experience: Been suffering from an arthritic hip since Fall 2017. In lieu of surgery, I choose PT as an interim measure until surgery becomes unavoidable. In fall 2018, I went to PT and made limited progress based on that PT's regimen but gave up. In March 2021 I decided to try PT again with Pivot Therapy. In a matter of 4-6 weeks I went from being unable to get off the mat unless assisted to being able to do it on my own and without pain. The PT therapist I had was outstanding (Kyle) - he monitored my progress carefully and when any issue or question arose he listened carefully and always came up with a recommended solution to address the issue/problem. Also, the other PT service I went to in Fall 2018 seemed to concentrate on patient volume with little personal attention. Not so with Pivot, or at least the one located at Fox Chase. It had a steady flow of patients but the system was well organized, lacked the chaos of the competing PT facility, and never felt ignored. I can't recommend Pivot strongly enough.

Fantastic experience: Pivot on Duke in Alexandria, VA has been a great place to do PT. I've been going for a number of weeks and feel as though the staff truly cares about my recovery. Kyle Pulford is attentive, kind and very knowledgeable. Everyone is super friendly and I've enjoyed spending time there while I've recovered from back surgery. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I've been getting therapy sessions for 7 weeks now for my humerus fracture. Both of the therapists that I have had have been professional, but also kind and patient. They always explain what each exercise does, what I can do at home, and what kind of soreness I can expect after each session. I definitely would not have recovered as quickly without these sessions. Fantastic experience: I came to Pivot PT with zero expectations and VERY bad lower back pain (quite debilitating). I worked closely with my assigned physical therapist, Kyle, and 6-12 weeks later my back no longer hurts at ALL. He was always super polite, attentive and professional, measuring/monitoring my progress and taking in my feedback. I only wish he was a personal trainer too :). I definitely recommend this location and Kyle 110% to anyone who needs physical therapy. It's also in a very convenient location with lots of parking (easy access).

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Kyle Pulford from Pivot Physical Therapy to anyone in need of physical therapist. I couldn’t be happier and grateful for the care I have received. Kyle showed me how to perform the different exercises first and made sure I understood what I needed to do next. He made me feel at ease and was very patient. If I needed the exercise shown again, he was willing to do it. Kyle and the other staff were very knowledgeable and professional. The front desk personal was also extremely responsive and helpful.

Fantastic experience: This review is a long time coming! I was referred to Pivot when my shoulder started giving me a lot of pain. I can say, I had a 10/10 experience. Staff was friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. I worked with Kyle and Lauren for a few months until we all felt confident about discharge. They both were gems. Very kind and efficient-pushing me when I needed to, and recommending rest when not. I would definitely return for any physical therapy needs & recommend others as well .

Fantastic experience: My 8 year old daughter was sent to Pivot after surgery for a hip fracture. Kyle and Lauren were great at helping her with the exercises and kept her so engaged that physical therapy became something she always looked forward to. They always did the exercises right alongside her and walked her through everything. She was never bored there and loved it. Her recovery went great and she went from struggling to walk with a walker to being perfectly able to run and jump after just a few weeks. The entire staff was very friendly and always answered any questions we had. I recommend anyone in this area who requires physical therapy to choose Pivot.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for years. The staff is energetic, fun, and knowledgeable. The facility is easily accessible from Duke street at the Foxchase plaza. This location is very clean and maintained. I've enjoyed coming here because I've been helped and guided in various recurring recoveries. I recommend coming here at least once to know if this place is for you.

Fantastic experience: I had 12 sessions of therapy for my left knee since osteoarthritis had worsened in the past year. My therapist was Andrew, who was very knowledgeable and efficient. When I had trouble doing an exercise, he would readily offer me an alternative one for the same purpose. He was always prompt according to my scheduled appointments. He kept my home regimen current on the website, as new exercises were added periodically. Kudos to Andrew and of course to Pivot.

Positive experience: Although Kelly T was spectacular, a very talented PT who can see past the physical issues to elicit quick results, the company itself made some changes that did not suit my continued care. The company could have grandfathered new in but chose not to and therefore in was not able to continue care. And this was after switching insurances to receive care. Very disappointing. PT assistants and front desk staff were also great!
