Fantastic experience: Dr Laxmi Gurung is amazing, went in with knee pain and she accurately diagnosed it and her pt exercises were a huge relieve on the pain level.

Fantastic experience: I live in Alexandria VA, this last winter/spring 2025 I went to a competitor for 18 therapy sessions for Lumbar issues with T2 sitting on T3. This summer I went to ACE Rehab for 16 sessions and the results are like night & day. ACE Rehab applied heat when you arrive and Dr Laxmi worked on my lower back & hamstrings to relax my back. ACE created an exercise routine using ankle weights for legs & back strengthening, use of elastic bands over knees & ankles to exercise my core to elevate back pain. Bottom line, if you have back, neck, knee, or shoulder aliments, do not waste your time going anywhere other than ACE Rehab in Alexandria VA

Fantastic experience: Dr. Laxmi healed my pinch nerve in my neck two years ago. Now i come back for my lower spine back pain. She immediately knows why i have pain and what i did to cause it. The heat, cold therapy and exercises has greatly decreased my pain in just five sessions. I recommend her very much.

Fantastic experience: Recovering from an injury is very stressful, but the team at ACE Rehab in Alexandria makes it much less so. Dr Laxmi, Braydon, and Steve, when he drops in, are all great at what they do. They are very friendly, empathetic and just the right amount of encouraging. If I ever happen to need physical therapy again, I will definitely come back here.

Fantastic experience: This is my second time receiving therapy from ACE with Dr. Laxmi Gurung. The facility is very well run and she is an excellent therapist. Brayden is also a great assistant and very helpful. They both are very pleasant and that makes it easier to go through the therapy.

Of course PT will not work unless the patient takes it seriously, but if you (the patient) will do your part of the job, the docs and therapists at Ace will do theirs. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Dr Laxmi Gurung and her assistant at Ace on Duke st. are excellent! They push you just enough to get the quickest progress possible. They also teach you the exercises necessary to make progress on the days you are not seeing them. They are very knowledgeable about injury recovery and what is to be expected and the healing process. I have made tremendous progress while going there, and the orthopedist is incredibly pleased. Ace is also excellent about flexibility in scheduling in order to fit as many sessions as needed in.

Fantastic experience: I recently went for my back and Dr. Laxmi and Brayden helped me a lot. This is my second time coming here. I went here a few years ago for pelvic floor and Dr. Manisha helped me so much She’s compassionate and patient and she makes you feel very comfortable. The staff is 10/10 they make you feel very comfortable they are super friendly and kind and caring . The two times that I’ve been there for different things I can tell you I have seen A massive improvement. Going there has made a big difference In my life. If you need any physical therapy, I would highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend seeing Dr. Manisha Mendoca for Pelvic Floor PT! She was absolutely amazing and was very communicative with me throughout my sessions. When I started, I was having very high levels of pain quite frequently due to endometriosis but she helped me manage that pain and now my day-to-day has improved immensely. I felt very comfortable going to this office and the staff is very nice.

Fantastic experience: What a great experience it was working with ACE staff to strengthen my knee, reduce pain/discomfort and avoid knee replacement.

Negative experience: Dr. Laxmi is lovely, but as someone who has been to a lot of Physical Therapy (unfortunately), I was able to identify that I was not receiving the level of care I need at Ace Rehab. For the entirety of my appointment there were at least 5+ people receiving treatment all from Dr. Laxmi at the same time. It felt like no one was paying attention to what I was doing at all and I was just being given standard, too difficult exercises. When I expressed that a certain exercise was causing pain I was instructed to just not do it and we ended my session early and with ice rather than adapting my exercises to something more appropriate. I am sure many people are able to recover well at this location, but if you're looking for more focused care, you will not be able to receive it here.

Fantastic experience: I came with bad cervical injury pinched nerve c6 c7 t1. Severe pain. Used strengthening exercises, neck massage, heat and cold therapy, 3 times a week. After two months , I can move my neck, shoulders and live again. Thank you Dr. L, Ms. A, Dr. M!!

Fantastic experience: Ace Rehab in Alexandria is GREAT. I highly recommend them. It's a very friendly environment. The treatment is personalized and they take a lot time with each person and are very involved from start to finish. It's not a factory to get folks in out like other some other places. I have gone to them for three different issues over the years- and each issue has been completely resolved. My wife also went them last year after shoulder surgery. Dr. Laxmi and her team are the BEST! Thanks Ace Alexandria.

Negative experience: This is not quality physical therapy. I highly recommend finding care elsewhere- this is a waste of your money. I speak with experience having done physical therapy for six separate injuries. In my five visits, I spent less than 40 minutes total with the physical therapist. The PT on staff and her tech/aide were juggling as many as 8 patients and only as few as 5, when the ratio should be much closer to 1:1 for Physical Therapist to Patient for most PT issues. With that many patients, you get very little feedback on if you're doing exercises correctly and it requires grabbing the attention of the aide or PT to get feedback if things don't feel right- they rarely check with you and they're not watching for more than one rep. You shouldn't need to advocate for attention when doing PT. Additionally, they want to schedule you as much as possible and have you doing work which is identical to what they have you do at home. My first week was three days back-to-back (visits should rarely be on consecutive days, so you have time to feel how the PT is working), and they wanted to schedule three days per week 3 weeks in advance. I've had multiple orthopedic surgeries, which this was not, and never was asked to come in with that frequency. I've also never experienced less hands-on care. The staff is polite and professional, but the care is beyond lackluster. I've been through a lot of physical therapy- this is what would be considered a "mill" as they're maximizing patients seen, not care delivered. I highly recommend choosing another practice.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Laxmi and her team are the BEST! I feel very cared for when I am there. I was most recently getting PT for my shoulder. When you arrive you receive heat, move onto personalized exercises. Next the doctor spends time talking with you, stretching and massaging the target area. She and the team are available for questions through out your whole time there. Lastly, you receive ice compresses for the effected area. The treatment is always very thorough and personalized. I will go back when I need more PT and I highly recommend this Alexandria office and team.

Fantastic experience: ACE IS THE PLACE TO GO! I came here with very bad lower back pain which was shooting down my leg and was present from many years and trust me they have helped so much. I feel so much better and I have been coming for 2 months. Facility is clean and hygienic. I feel much stronger and have resumed my gym. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr. Manisha Mendonca for pelvic floor physical therapy. I had an untreated condition that had affected me for 20 years. For a very long time, I had never even heard of pelvic floor physical therapy, then was nervous to start. Dr. Mendonca treated me with kindness, compassion and competence. She worked with my insurance to make sure I could obtain the treatment that I needed and was encouraging throughout a very sensitive process. I felt completely safe and affirmed in her care. I wish more doctors would prescribe pelvic floor PT. If you are considering pelvic floor physical therapy, please do it! It has been life changing for me.

Fantastic experience: Aishi and Laxmi at ACE are amazing! They give individualized attention to each person who is there - sometimes rotating 7 clients at once! - with ease. You don’t feel alone or forgotten. After the exercises, you get stretched (ah-mazing!) and ice for your issue. They also continually clean the raised therapy mats where clients do their side and back work. Can’t recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic! The staff have successfully treated my cervical and lumbar disc protrusion that caused leg/arm tingling and pain!. I feel so much better now thanks to the topnotch professional staff at ACE Physical Therapy in Alexandria, VA. They were my biggest cheerleaders, especially on days I just didn't feel like being there! Even the way they answered the phone brought a smile to my face:). BIG thanks to the entire team - Manisha - The Director, Aaron, Yvonne and Abby!! I've been treated at several PT places, but I finally found my PT HOME!!

Fantastic experience: Five weeks ago I was in so much pain in my left knee that I was not sure of the outcome. My time at ACE has been amazing, as each visit helps me with the issues of my knee. I am able to sleep thru the night and use my knee in my daily activities. The staff welcomed me like family and showed such compassion in my success to get back to my daily routine. If I need their services again, I will go back and plan to refer my friends. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I was a patient at the Alexandria location because of fractured tail and hip bones. The staff at the ACE PT were very professional and friendly. They provided me with a tailored set of stretches. I loved how the therapist would explain everything in detail that I would understand. It was great that when I couldn't do a routine the way that it was pictured she would show me a way that I would be able to do it. The PT Tech was always paying attention to how I was doing each one of my routines and correcting me if I was not doing it properly. I highly recommend them! A++

Fantastic experience: Wonderful place! My physical therapist was so attentive as well as her assistant. I never had to wait to be seen and they accommodated my schedule changes with ease. I can’t thank them enough for all the work they did to help me regain strength after my accident! :)

Negative experience: First needs said Dr Laxmi and her crew are amazing. in terms of talent and skill 5/5. They take great care of equipment and sanitize as they go. However the condition of the actual facility is horrendous. the carpets have been water damaged from leaking ac units since i started late april. i wouldnt be suprised if mold growth is occuring. Today as I am writing this, i’m looking at new water stains that has the bathroom shut off (i’ve been told that it was from the air conditioning unit). the wall trim has been missing for just as long. the air conditioning unit has been broken since april. It’s almost august now. they have techs in every week to fix it but it still not fixed. It is almost like the facility manager doesn’t want to spend the money to fix it properly as the problem will “go away” in the winter. all in all crew is 5/5. facility needs work.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Manisha Mendonca for some pelvic pain, and she's been amazing. She's very empathetic, patient, and knowledgeable. She made me feel very at ease right away, and explained the PT process at every step. Within a few appointments I've already seen huge improvements in my pain. I feel really lucky to be able to get care here. She also walked me through my insurance and the long-term plan for PT up front so the entire process has been stress free. When I was really sick and had to miss two appointments in a row, she even scheduled some additional appointments for me so I didn't fall off of her schedule.

Fantastic experience: I suffered a fractured tailbone injury about two years ago, and had been sitting on this pillow for about a year and a half. After a visit to the ER for what I thought was testicular torsion, my doctor told me that my pelvic floor was being affected by my tailbone being misaligned (healing at a slight angle), and suggested PT. ACE was one of the only places I could find that accepted BCBS and didn't charge an insane copay (Only $25 as opposed to some places that were charging along the lines of $150) Dr. Mendonca is, to my understanding, one of the few physical therapists in the area who practices PT for this type of injury both internally and externally. Most PTs will not go so far as to manually realign the tailbone, as Dr. Mendonca did in my case over the period of several appointments, and will usually only give you stretches to do at home. She was very professional, addressed all of my concerns, and looked for way to improve and adjust my at-home regimen depending on what symptoms I still had as time went on. She explained what the pain I was feeling was derived from, how these exercises were helping, and was very encouraging about getting this whole mess sorted out. Gradually I started running again, sitting without that stupid pillow, and no longer getting a feeling of tension in my abdomen. It is very hard to convey just how much this injury had become such an annoyance in my daily routine, and Dr. Mendonca's treatment finally helped me get this taken care of. I have a few weeks left of sitting on this thing before it's relegated to the back of my closet. If you are suffering from a fractured coccyx, please don't make the mistake of waiting forever like I did to get it looked at and speak with your doctor about whether physical therapy is the right thing for you, and if you need it, I cannot recommend this clinic, and Dr. Mendonca, enough.

Negative experience: The facility needs to be upgraded. The bike was broken and remained so during the weeks I was there. I left when staff was not following protocol for Covid. A staff member sat at the desk, texting on the phone and not wearing a mask.

Fantastic experience: The team at ACE is friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable! I came in with very little knowledge and lots of questions, and my primary therapist Laxmi Gurung was able to break things down for me in a way I could easily understand. She helped me to figure out how to work exercises into my daily routine and stick to it. Would definitely recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Laxmi is THE BEST!!! After years of lower back tightness, my condition became exacerbated by, a torn ACL.  I had developed a lump of muscles on the left side of my back that made my life uncomfortable, but I chose to live with it and compensate for the discomfort. To top it all off I became super relaxed on my exercises. Not only did my back get worse, but my knee wasn't gaining strength and my whole body began to break down. After ONLY 3 SESSIONS with Doc Laxmi my back is almost level, no lumps, and the rest of the pain in my body from compensating for my knee has subsided. My legs are stronger, back is stronger, everything is fantastic! Just a few more sessions so that I can reach the rest of my goals!! :)

Fantastic experience: What can I say? I was ambivalent about starting physical therapy but, when I first arrived, I was reassured that the work would be hard but worth it if I would stick it out. Fantastic experience: I have been here since March, as much as I hate PT! I absolutely love Laxmi, Manisha and amazing! They have put me back together. I’ve had a lot of injuries being a firefighter and two back surgeries, been to many of rehab facilities this is by far the best two Therapists I have ever had. Fantastic experience: Very great experience. The therapist lady was very kind to me and knew exactly how my ankle was doing just from the first session. With each passing day, I could feel my ankle getting better and better. I went from just barely to being able to walk to jogging and now I can run and all it took was a couple of weeks. Now I can get back on my basketball grind thanks to the therapist lady.This was my first time doing therapy and it was a great experience. I feel better than ever now that my ankle is nearly 100 percent.

Fantastic experience: I love this place! I was in a car accident and came here after intense neck and back pain and they made the recovery process so wonderful! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Also extremely informative, they let you know what each stretch/exercise is targeting. The environment is also very relaxing! Aaron and Laxmi have eliminated my pain and got me back to my normal lifestyle again!

Fantastic experience: Ace physical therapy is wonderful!! I had a shoulder surgery back and I’m already feeling back in the game. The staff is so personable and friendly. When I first went to ACE on Duke Street, I was sort of skeptical, because my pain was really bothering me, and has been going on for a couple of years so I thought that the damage is so bad that it will be impossible to fix. After 4 weeks working under Laxmi Gurung and her team can I happily report that my pain is gone by 99%. It is kind of hard to believe given the fact how long I have suffered. Bravo Laxmi!!! Sam G.

Fantastic experience: They helped me recover quickly from a runner's injury. I learned new techniques to prevent the injury's progress. They explained in plain English what was happening and how they were going to resolve it. I agree with the other reviewer. The staff is fantastic. They are friendly, courteous, and competent! If I ever need to rehabilitate, I will use the Alexandria location's services.

Fantastic experience: When I came here I wasn’t walking normally and certainly couldn’t run like I had been doing. Manisha, Laxmi, and Aaron welcome everyone like Sam welcomed Norm everyday on Cheers. Together we work to get back to the strength we lost and emerge stronger and happier. Fantastic experience: I had a great experience while recovering from a labrum shoulder repair back in March. The staff were very friendly and flexible with scheduling. The typically services performed were heat pads before therapy, stretching by the physical therapist, daily exercises for stretching and strengthening, and ice/ e-stem at the end. I would definitely recommend ACE to a friend in the future.

Fantastic experience: I have had TMD for the past 2 years and was unable to find a provider who can help me find a solution. I researched TMJ specialist in the area and came across Manisha Mendonca. On my first exam I could tell right away that she had a lot of knowledge and really took the time to understand my symptoms. I’ve now been seeing her for over 4 months and I went from having TMJ pain and headaches 3-4 times a week to once every few weeks. What honestly felt like a miracle!! Fantastic experience: I have been working out all my life and i had a shoulder injury (age 25). Tore my shoulder 3 times in 6 month due to wrong doctor advice + wrong training. Came to Dr Manisha and she turned that painful year into the best thing that could have ever happened to me. 6 months later, I am in the best shape of my life. Its not magic, make sure you ask a lot of good long term health related questions and do the work at home after the therapy.

Fantastic experience: I needed treatment for frozen shoulder and I am glad I chose this location. Staff was very friendly and helpful accommodating appointments that work best for my schedule. Also, the treatment I received was excellent and very professional. I continue to do the exercise they recommend and I continue to improve, I am almost 100% there.

Fantastic experience: Love this facility and it's staff. Laxmi, is a wonderful PT and super nice and friendly. Jeegan livens up the space with his charm and "fair enough" phrase, and Dr. Manisha is efficient in her work and super knowledgeable. I'm currently in physical therapy for muscular issues, hoping that they continue to improve. If I ever have to return to PT after this for any reason it will definitely be here at this office! Wonderful place.

Fantastic experience: In October of ‘18 I ruptured my patella tendon. In Dec I searched for a physical therapist to start my rehab. ACE physical on Duke St. has been an amazing experience. Being a former athlete my expectations for therapy were high. Needless to say they surpassed all of my expectations. I am now back to work and making my way back to normality thanks to the Amazing Staff!!! I highly recommend this location!!!

Fantastic experience: 2nd time around ACE the staff are the best, they really care about their patients. Dr Manisha is an expert doing her job. I was suffering back pain for a while after I finished my therapy ( 10 sections) I don’t have any pain at all she’s awesome. Schedule are flexible and super convenient for people like me I strongly recommend this facility for any kind of injury.
