Fantastic experience: I would really like to take the time to thank your staff for getting me through the issues that I came there with not thinking I would be able to walk again. A special thanks to my therapists, David and Melanie for taking the time to listen to my needs and help me achieve them. Special thanks to David and Melanie for going above and beyond to make me feel welcome at your facility and taking care of me like I was someone from their family. I really miss talking and seeing them each day since I have left there.

Fantastic experience: If you noticed my absence in April/May here’s your answer . Wheelchair Accesible Accesible covered parking . Automatic man trap style double doors. I won’t name names because if I missed someone I would feel terrible . Suffice it to say I have done physical rehab here 2X’s ( 20 years apart )reception, dietary,nursing , PT/OT still remembered me ( older staff told the newer staff your gonna love coming to work this guy has just gotten funnier and nicer ) it was an honor to be welcomed back and told for a change how good my self care has been and they remembered my motto “ go hard or don’t go “ so they weren’t afraid to challenge me to dig deep and bring out your best all well being fully supported .everyone there will go out of there way to get you better and home . An open secret is dietary eat good ,feel good , put your energy into rebuilding your strength ( I am a sucker since my first time there for the coffee) it has open WiFi your also close enough to UPMC Hamot to connect to either . There is a wonderful rooftop patio ( I would go say good morning to birds and rock out to music my go to get ready for whatever comes today is “ wrong side of heaven , but the righteous side of hell” . My first time there it was still called Health South , names change but the care is still top notch . We even had family day in the gym so our families could see what we were working on or could do better now . Of course I took pictures to help tell the story because pictures can say more than I can . If you ever need rehab I recommend this place , even the nurses in ICU @ Hamot told the doctor I would turn him down cold if offered some nursing home time ,he got a super easy yes in asking if I would go here , I know when I am strong enough to fake it and when I need therapy to build me up .my room over looked the lake so between sitting in the window or being on the roof , I got my Vitamin D also on the roof you can hear the church bells ring out the hours .it would be impossible to share the love and help they gave me . I was in Hamot ICU for a week due to DKA before being transferred to encompass to gain my strength back , I was whooped .

Fantastic experience: Fabulous care from the minute we stepped in the door!! The front desk staff was so welcoming . Very clean. Dr Blackburn was waiting in my mom’s room along with the nurse (Tina) on arrival. The care she received from the nurses, aides, and therapists was top notch. She came there in a wheelchair and left walking on her own!!! The food was excellent and Keith went above and beyond to make sure our dad who is a picky eater had something he liked when there eating dinner with her. Highly recommend!!

Negative experience: Physical therapy is great. Therapists are awesome. The daytime nurses. Most of them are wonderful. Come dinner time and after horrible night staff barely checks in. Won't give meds. You're just left sitting in your room. Will not stay there ever again

Fantastic experience: OT and PT were absolutely wonderful. My progress with my total joint replacement wouldn't be were I'm at today without them. On the other hand. The nursing staff at encompass left a lot to be desired. They did NOT administer the pain medication when due or when asked for. Pain management is impairative to a productive and successful rehab. Nursing staff were not about seeing the patients needs being met. They did NOT fill my ice machine. This was important for pain control. When I asked for help it was difficult to find someone to help me. You might have to wait a couple hours. I'm giving you a five star. Because I hate to see the rehab take a hit because their nursing staff needs improvements. I wouldn't be where I'm at today with my progress on my total knee replacement without encompass rehab. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My experience was the best I ever had. I can never say enough about the staff and the therapist. If it weren't for the therapist Ryan, Marissa and her student were exceptional and encouraging a long with the staff. I will definitely recommend Encompass to otherrs Kudo's to the the staff. Even Diane Hanes.

Fantastic experience: My husband had a severe TBI in January. Upon admission to Encompass he was immobile. I was able to take him home mobile in just 17 days. The staff is amazing and kept him safe when I was unable to be there. I was very involved with his treatment and always felt informed! I am forever grateful for everyone at Encompass Erie!!

Fantastic experience: My husband &I attended the Lunch&Learn for Parkinson’s patients at the Encompass in Erie. We found the session to be very informative &helpful. The interactive exercises kept our attentionthroughout the program. We especially appreciate learning about adaptive equipment that will make things easier for Dave.The introduction of the PWR exercise program has really piqued our interest. We were able to find the exercises on YouTube &plan on getting the equipment for Dave. The presenters were all excellent &despite Dave having the disease for 17 years we still learned some new information. The boxed lunches were delicious&the staff were warm &welcoming. It was a very worthwhile experience at a great location. We will be anxious to attend more seminars as they are offered. Dave &Patty Cooney

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience! EVERYONE in ALL departments were great. Custodial, kitchen, nurses, aides, therapist, and Doctors. All professional and great to deal with. Got me up and moving in short order, which got me home as soon as possible. THANK YOU ENCOMPASS!

Fantastic experience: Parent had a wonderful experience during her stay at Encompass. She gained most of her strength back by with working with her PT and OT. All the staff, from the Doctors, Therapists, Nurses, Aides all were awesome! Very compassionate and professional. I recommend this facility for rehab.

Fantastic experience: I am so happy that I chose Encompass Health for my rehab. They have outstanding nurses staff and RNT'S! The OT and PT department got me ready for my return home. I am especially grateful for Dina in OT and David in PT for giving me training so that I am able to go home. They have outstanding services here at Encompass . The food is very good. I hope I never have to return here but if I do I know that Encompass Health will be my rehab facility and I recommend it to anyone needing rehab . I want to thank the nurses who did everything to help me feel better, ALL the RNT'S who answered my call button in a prompt manner, the staff that coordinated my care, the cleaning staff, the food service department, and Dr Knight who is very easy to talk to. Also thank you to Jim in the speech therapy department. The rooms are large and room 201 has a view! May you always give the care that I received!

Negative experience: This place contributed to the worst experience I have ever had. I stayed there in April after a spinal cord surgery and the negligence of the doctors and wound care nurse was astounding and contributed to me getting serious infections which led to me eventually getting sepsis. My surgical wound had begun to dehiss and that was not taken seriously. My wound then began to show obvious signs of infection and those were ignored and not taken seriously. The wound nurse and doctors kept saying it wasn’t infected when it very clearly was. At one point the doctors said “If there is an infection the antibiotics you’re on for your uti should also cover that.” No, they could not “cover that.” A few days before I was discharged the wound nurse finally decided she would test the wound for an infection “just in case.” Then she left for vacation and my wound was completely ignored other than routine dressing changes. I had zero wound care for days, contrary to what they told me would happen when I arrived there. No one ever told me the results of the culture. Along with not noticing the obvious infection, they also failed to notice the continued dehissing. By the time I was discharged my wound was ripped open and severely infected. When I eventually went back to the hospital and they did wound cultures they found out I had multiple bacterial infections, one of those infections was MRSA, which I believe I got while I was staying here. When my dressings were being changed it was obvious that there were no attempts made to keep things clean and sterile. Due to their negligence I got sepsis, had to have 3 wound debridement surgeries, and one plastic surgery reconstruction, which was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. In total my wound took over 6 months to heal. In addition to all of that the behavior of the occupational therapists was deplorable. They gave patients an activity then proceeded to ignore us and talk amongst themselves as well as gossip about other patients. I told my ot I was autistic every time I saw her and she still forgot each time. My pt also tried to send me home without a walker because she said I didn’t meet the requirements, I just had a serious spinal cord surgery, yet somehow I didn’t “meet the requirements” for a walker. If it weren’t for my mother fighting tooth and nail for me to get one I would have fallen and that would have been disastrous. All in all this is a terrible facility and I cannot more strongly recommend you stay anywhere but here.

Fantastic experience: My father-in-law was a patient here several times. We were very happy with the care he received.

Fantastic experience: Took excellent care of my father on multiple occasions!

Negative experience: My mother went in there and ended up getting covid. My stepfather got it from her. He did not survive. She went in for a minor stroke. They were advised when she went in she had arthritis I'm her hands and needed help eating. Found out while she was sick that no one helped her eat.(told her nurse we told them she needed help she's like oh that's why she wouldn't eat)we were in there for 8 hrs no one bothered to change her or help her. They were bringing her burgers, pasta and meatballs, and pulled pork sandwiches. They never fixed her teeth in her mouth. Never never let loved ones go here.

Negative experience: Opposite of how a rehab hospital should be run! The nurses don't care about the patients especially the older ones who get treated like they aren't worth helping because of their advanced age. They fail to provide proper nourishment, hydration, and won't get patients out of bed. They make patients weaker, sicker, and then discharge them for lack of progress due to their own negligence.

Fantastic experience: From Dr Hickey, the medical director, to Colleen and Katie my therapists, to Jaclyn the pharmacist and all the way to my nurses and the aides and housekeeping staff...these people were awesome! Very compassionate and professional. I highly recommend this facility for rehab.

Fantastic experience: I am very satisfied with the care my mother in law received during her stay for a little over 2 weeks after having surgery. Staff was professional and caring especially her Physical and Occupational therapists.

Fantastic experience: I was a patient at Encompass for 10 days. As a retired medical professional, I can be very critical. The nursing staff, both nurses and aides, were wonderful and worked together well. The OT,PT and Speech therapist were fantastic and creative. Food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: !!! BEWARE¡¡¡¡ BEWARE OF THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. YOU DON'T WANT YOUR LOVED ONES OR YOURSELVES IMPRISONED HERE. EVER.

Negative experience: Horrible and unfriendly staff. Did the bare minimum.

Negative experience: The therapists were great and very caring people. I think the nursing staff for the most part were burnt out and I would say they did what they had to do period. His case manager was difficult to get a hold of and we found her lacking in compassion. In addition he had a huge bruise probably 3” by 5 “ on his abdomen that occurred either at Encompass or on his transport from there. He died 3 days after his release and the thought of him spending his final days in that environment will haunt me til the day I die.

Fantastic experience: I am very satisfied with care my wife has I don't think we could have picked better place the Norses or very caring she has PT and OC therapy and they are very good we are very happy with them I would peck them again

Positive experience: My fiancee (now husband) was placed here in 2020 during the pandemic. He arrived almost weaned from his ventilator.. With a Trach... Unable to even sit up (due to a massive heart attack then ended with him being in a coma). They asked what his goal was. His answer was to walk down the aisle at our wedding. I will be honest... He hated it there. They did not change his diapers often enough and he said they were not nice (they were short handed.. It was in the pandemic). But at the end... They did what they said... And he did walk at our wedding. It may not have been the best Experience but They did what they promised.

Fantastic experience: Came here couldn't hardly walk. They worked with me and a huge change in a week. Great people. Rehab personel are Great as well as the nursing staff. Very clean. Great experience. . .

Fantastic experience: I wanna say that my stay here was a amazing experience. All the staff were professional and answered all questions to their knowledge or got help to answer them. I want to give a thanks to you guys for all the help support andlove that you showed us. I want to give a special thanks to #1 OT Katie , #1 PT Jenn , her assistant from Gannon Brandi, Dr. Corey Hickey, PT Kiersten, OT Vicki you guys ar a 10 and help us to get where we are today. I get emotional when i bring up the accident and the support my wife and i got. PT Aquana, thanks for the for the kindness eveday you brought to everyone A 10 also. Also i couldn't forget the Nurses and aids that alway had a smile and help us heal. Samantha you are a 10 awesome heart always there for us. Kobi thank you and also 100 with us and helping with the healing, a10. Nancy your Awesome and thank for helping us 10. Julie always on top of it like the rest thanks 10. Denise your the best thanks for everything you have done for us and like the others 10. Also the nurse aids out there sSarah,Lisa,tonia, and the others i could remember there names. Even the kitchen staff were friendly and food was good, Mary and Brenda are the best. Very friendly and always with a smile and professional. I want to also say thank you to theto the Dr who i forgot his name,tall and the salt and pepper colored hair , thank you and also a 10.everone else i forgot your names like the tall light skinned girl who worked 2nd shift , she was a 10 also thank you. I would recommend Encompass to all in need. Very professional and supportive people. I wanted to stay lol. Thank you all for taking part in our recovery and i hope all of you are rewarded in life someday.. highly recommend.

Negative experience: They do not care about the happiness of their patients!!

Negative experience: Only let one person up to room because of COVID, but let staff have their masks pulled down. Old, wornout and filthy rooms. Wouldn't board my dog here. Although can't be with my sister in with my dad because of COVID, I can sit in the lobby for under 30 minutes and be exposed to a staff member with his mask under his chin (upstairs another staff with mask under chin and another under his nose), another visitor with his mask below his nose, a postman with no mask, a person delivering flowers with no mask, and another visitor with no mask. Receptionist said nothing until I ask her to. Clearly don't care about COVID. Back in lobby again for just 5 min after visiting dad. You guessed it, another visitor with no mask., 5 people all crowded in the lobby waiting their turns to visit. Great COVID mitigation plan.

Negative experience: My father stayed here for almost a month. He developed bedsores and the staff was unprofessional. They would let him sit in a dirty diaper for prolonged periods and found it next to impossible to simply adjust him in bed every two hours so he did not develop sores. The doctor never saw any one in our family face to face and he did things like put my dad on a catheter (which comes with risks such as losing the ability to urinate on your own) to prevent bedsores rather than just have his nurses do what they are paid to do. Nurses were intensely unfriendly, never spoke to us, just glum. The place looks straight out of 1980s Soviet Union ... the decor is cold war era chic. If you are looking for a depressing place that looks and is run down and poorly run, look no further. This is it. It is the place to go for bedsores and a staff that cares very little about their patients.

Negative experience: I would not send anyone I truly cared about to this "rehab" facility. The staff and nurses are terribly mean, do not do their jobs even remotely competently, and the facility is run down and old. We know the doctor only by his photo on the wall as he's evidently much too important to make an actual in-person appearance. We ended up with more injuries than we came in with. I hope Medicare shuts them down bc they have no business operating.

Fantastic experience: I was very hesitant to go there after being discharged from UPMC Hamot for cervical and thoracic surgery. I am glad I did it, my strength vastly improved and the daily routine physical and occupational therapy very much made my daily routine activities easier. I would recommend this place to everyone, they are all very professional and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: I'm departing after a 9 day stay, and have to say it's been great! The nursing staff, and all those on the floor are an incredible group of people! The team of therapists are a great group of compassionate, caring people. From the kitchen staff to the RN's this place shines! Management definitely leaves room for improvement with communication. The food was very good. But can't say enough about the employees of this facility! And a special Thank You to Michelle who made me laugh Every time our paths crossed! Thank you all for all your hard work in helping with my recovery.

Negative experience: This is a bad place more to follow. Think twice. I am waiting on a call from management. The Erie Staff from the CEO and his leadership our bad. More to follow.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly people and the cook that served us was so nice and polite the food taste awesome I recommend anyone that comes for rebuiltation stop by their kitchen they have yummy food
