Valens Physical Therapy & Sports Performance

Fantastic experience: I went to Valens on the advice of my knee surgeon after arthroscopic surgery on a torn meniscus. This is the friendliest, most collegial group I have ever encountered. They talk to each other, they all help each other with the patients, consulting and giving advice. There are four therapists; I have worked actively with two, but feel as if I could go to any of them and get the same excellent care. Andre, the trainer, is top-notch; he doesn't just tell you what to do, he shows you how to do it, what the point of each exercise is, and corrects you firmly but gently until you do it right. The assistants are right there, cuing you up for the next exercise or stretch, giving guidance and encouragement. The office staff is friendly and efficient, and I really like the email appointment reminders instead of those irritating automated phone calls. The one sticky point is that there isn't much dedicated parking, only four spaces, but the web site says that clearly, and gives information about metered street parking in the area. For at least half of my appointments, I have not needed to use a meter. My knee is as strong as it is going to get, and I chalk it up to the good surgery and the excellent PT care.

Fantastic experience: Makenzie and the staff at Valens PT are awesome. I have worked with Makenzie for several years through various sports related injuries and have always seen improvement and returned to full health. Last summer she was my PT as I returned from hip labral repair surgery. With her diligent help, I returned to running well ahead of schedule and am stronger now than ever before. She and her staff genuinely care for their patients and routinely go above and beyond to ensure people receive the best care possible. I highly recommend Valens to anyone who needs to see a physical therapist for any reason. They are simply the best!

Positive experience: Update: First, I want to make clear that the service I got and the therapist I worked with (Khadija) were both awesome. However - be aware, the billing / accounting team does not know what they are doing. They routinely overbilled me for services they did not do and that I told them *multiple times* my insurance would not cover. They assured me that everything was fine, and then kept trying to hit me with these insane bills weeks or months later. The PT team is great but not worth the billing headache.

Positive experience: Overall good staff but beware of their clerical errors that result in balance billing several months later (where they ‘mistakenly undercharge’ your copay).

Fantastic experience: Lots of individual attention by the PT and every. Very professional. Safe during COVID. Everyone there is really nice. And they make you better!

Fantastic experience: HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I found Valens after hurting my hip while training for triathlons. I saw them before my surgery and they gave me such a better understanding of what to expect and what to do to prepare. Since my surgery, I work with Mackenzie (the owner) who is AMAZING. As a life long athlete, I have worked with lots of PTs over the years. MacKenzie is my all time favorite. She is incredibly knowledgeable and almost has x-ray vision to figure out what is going on with the body. I made my older sister start going and they have helped her straighten her leg for the first time in 16 years. The staff are lovely and competent. They are constantly cleaning the room and diligent about health & safety.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Valens has been nothing but excellent from day 1. Every single person that works there is personable and friendly and their rehab has gotten me up and moving at a great pace. Their office is in a great location and has plenty of parking between street parking and their spaces. If your looking for a PT clinic in Alexandria, I wouldn’t look anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I had a knee replacement several weeks ago and have experienced quite a bit of pain. The staff at Valens has really worked with me to achieve my goal which is to be able to hike again. They are demanding, but kind. They are also hands-on. I have been to other physical therapy’s And this group is great.

Fantastic experience: Despite a variety of foot issues over the past two years, the Valens staff has put me on a path to healing while avoiding repeat injuries, and ensured I was able to run 4 marathons during this time. Makenzie is a foot whisperer, and the rest of the staff is truly skilled. I won't go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Valens has enabled me to function with several lower extremity injuries, each of which could have caused a much lower quality of life than I currently enjoy.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Valens off and on for the last five years for a variety of shoulder, leg back and neck injuries from playing tennis. The staff is great, wastes no time and provides a balanced program to relax and strengthen muscles. They work as a team. In my 70’s I need the PT to stay active.

Fantastic experience: The therapists are very attentive and experienced. I have been taken care of for a variety of joint issues. Lish is awesome and the owner, McKenzie, is always aware of what her clients need and seems to have an excellent relationships with her employees. Charlie, the assistant rehab is caring, respectful and always attentive to your needs. I have recently returned to Valens after lumbar surgery. Thanks Valens for such great service and care!
