Fantastic experience: My clients have given me rave reviews of Valle Vista Post Acute, citing the "family" feel they get from the staff, available activities and dining for residents who are in their care. I can vouch the staff is caring and responsive to meet the needs of their patients!

Fantastic experience: In this review I'm not going to focus on the negative complaints I have encountered at this facility. On a positive note, the activities coordinator Addy, is awesome in organizing events for the residents. She also scheduled outings with some of the residents as well and goes as far as sending the family pictures. My sister has been a resident at the facility for about 4 years and looks forward to the activities and outings. Addy goes above and beyond to make these activities fun for the residents! She is sweet, always has a smile, and her love is genuine when interacting with the residents. This is why I gave this review FIVE STARS!!!

Fantastic experience: This is my third time to this facility each time having a fusion done to my spine first my neck then my thoracic now my lower back and each and every time this place has hands down taking good care of me look after me and such a great way everything is friendly professional clean and nice and the staff here seems to be very happy with their boss too and I love that fact. I hope not to have to have another spine surgery but if I do I'm coming back here again I hope to only be able to use this therapeutic therapy please for therapy for my recovery because recovering is what you do when you come here. Hopefully you'll find it to be the five star facility that it is too.

Fantastic experience: I was a patient at Valle Vista for 6 months I really enjoyed the professionalism of this place I highly recommend Valle vista to other when in need . I still visit Valle vista since I have been discharged because the ppl there are so nice. I go and play bingo and visit the staff . My dad was at Valle vista also, he is the reason why I went there. Valle vista is my family away from family. I enjoyed the activities the provided Addy Martinez was in charge of all the fun things we did there. In the nursing staff and the cnas were awesome. The kitchen was very accommodating!!!

Fantastic experience: My husband was in Valle Vista Post Acute for about 2 months from August to October 2023. He was rehabbing from a leg amputation. My husband also has dementia, so it is a complicated situation. The care there was very good, the nurses were attentive, he was kept clean, and his wound care was superb. The most important aspect of the stay for us was the physical therapy. I can't say enough about the physical therapy group, especially Rod, he was caring and took the time to overcome my husband’s muddle mind. My husband came home being able to transfer himself to his wheelchair easily. They also worked with me to help train me on how to transfer him from the bed to the wheelchair, help with how to pick him up if he fell, and how to transfer him to the car. This has made the homecare for him much easier. Although the facility is older, it has been updated and is clean. The view around the facility is beautiful and there are nice areas to take your family members out to see the views.

Negative experience: Absolutely HORRIBLE facility!! Do not take your loved ones here. They do not care about their patients and will completely ignore cries for help. My grandmother sat writhing in pain for over 5 hours after having surgery 2 days before for a severely fractured hip. They have absolutely no compassion and have no business taking care of anyone, especially their night staff. After calling for help for HOURS, no staff member ever came to her aid. Her roommate thankfully called 911 where she was assisted back to the ER in an ambulance. I don't know what she would have done without her wonderful roommate. Staff never helped! I wouldn't even let my pets be cared for by these people! The following night we had no choice but to re-admit her to Valle Vista since it was the weekend and no other place was available. Less than an hour after our family member left, my grandmother fell and was left on the floor for an hour until paramedics arrived. We were called at 1:05a, with my grandmother still laying on the floor, when we had to instruct them to call 911. Where was the staff? Why didn't they even attempt to get my 91 year old grandmother off the floor? How long did it take them to respond to her this time? No efforts were made to help my grandmother. No one lifted a finger outside of calling her family. So again, she sat writhing in pain, on the floor this time, until paramedics came to help where she was taken back to the ER. This is a horrible, sad excuse for a "care" facility. Please, do not take anyone here. Awful place

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. My 91 year old mother fell and broke her hip at home. After surgery and 4 nights at Palomar Medical Center, she was transferred to Valle Vista on a Friday evening. Although Palomar Medical Center sent over her list of medications and medical orders the staff at Valle Vista struggled to get the medications ready and had to borrow from another patient's supply, and still they didn't have the proper pain medications prescribed for my mom. Later that night my mom experienced severe pain in her injured leg. She cried out but the staff didn't respond. Her roommate pressed the call button to summon help but no one came. Finally around sunrise, after 5 hours of my mom suffering, my mom's roommate called 911 for her. We found out later that once the paramedics arrived the Valle Vista staff informed them that my mom's roommate was a "difficult" patient and was just causing trouble. This caused the paramedics to go to my mom's room and scold her roommate for "frivolously" calling 911. The roommate pointed to my mom writhing in pain and explained that my mom was in fact the patient she had called about. My mom was rushed back to the Palomar Medical Center emergency room for pain management. After spending the day in the emergency room and having her pain brought under control, we were forced to reluctantly allow my mom to be returned to Valle Vista. We were told that my mom could not spend the night in the emergency room and that Valle Vista was the only facility where she had an active acceptance, and there was no way to contact the insurance company on the weekend to request an authorization for a different facility. My mom was transferred back to Valle Vista, but this time we made sure that all of her medications were available at that site (including her pain medication). We personally made sure that she was settled in at Valle Vista (with all her evening and pain meds administered). We waited with her until she was sound asleep before leaving for the night around midnight. At 1:05AM we received a call from Valle Vista indicating that my mom had gotten out of bed and fallen. We were told that Valle Vista was going to try to contact the on-call doctor at her medical group and we were put on hold when the Valle Vista staff had to answer another call. 15 minutes later they picked up the on-hold call and asked something to the effect of "what are you calling about?". They had completely forgotten about the in-progress call about my mom falling. We told them to call 911 immediately and rushed over to Valle Vista to check on my mom. When we arrived around 2:00AM (nearly an hour after we received the initial call), the paramedics were just arriving and my mom was still lying on the floor where she had fallen. The Valle Vista staff had apparently not even attempted to help her. She was rushed back to Palomar Medical Center for x-rays and CT scan. So on each of the two consecutive nights my mom was at Valle Vista she needed help from the staff and received no help. I don't know if the staff at Valle Vista are incompetent or just lazy, and I don't care. In my mind their inaction represents criminal negligence and elder abuse, and I will be filing a complaint with the appropriate regulatory agencies. If you are considering placing your loved one at this facility, I strongly encourage you to consider another option. This place is dangerous. Shame on you, Valle Vista.

Fantastic experience: This nursing home is BEAUTIFUL! My dad had a stroke and the hospital recommended a rehab facility, I’m so glad I chose this one for my dad. After having him take care of me my whole life, it was finally my turn to take care of him and I did as much research I could to make sure I chose the right rehab facility for him. I toured this facility and absolutely fell in love. The team kept me updated on his progress and I didn’t feel left in the dark. Big thank you to the Valle Vista crew. God bless you all.

Fantastic experience: My father in law fell at home and needed a right hip replacement. My wife and I decided on Valle Vista after touring the nursing home. Wow. The care is phenomenal. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming here. There were a lot of people involved when it came to his care so it’s hard to remember names but my wife and I are eternally grateful to the Valle Vista staff. Thank you all so much for everything. The facility is clean and the employees are professional. Thank you all.

Fantastic experience: They’ve really exceeded my expectations for nursing homes. I was terrified placing my aunt into a nursing home for rehab because there’s no perfect nursing home out there so I chose this place in hopes I made the right decision. The staff went above and beyond to provide great care and they also helped me understand the process from check in to check out. Thank you guys so much for all your help!! I’m so glad my aunt got strong enough to come back with me and my family back to Oregon. Thanks again everyone!

Fantastic experience: My mom was recently discharged and I have to commend the nursing staff for all their hard work and helping her get better! This facility is absolutely beautiful. It really doesn’t feel like a nursing home, my mom really enjoyed her stay. The staff are attentive and kind. Thanks for taking care of my mom! Rehab team was AWESOME!

Fantastic experience: From my mom and I, all we want to say is thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the Valle Vista team who helped my dad recuperate from heart surgery. It was a difficult time for my family but the staff here really made us feel confident he would be able to return home and back to himself again. Thank you everybody - this nursing home is phenomenal.

Negative experience: One year ago today my 53 year old sister was transported from Mercy Hospital to Valle Vista because supposedly they were the only facility that would take a patient with a feeding tube. Kerry had had brain surgery and was going to Escondido to gain back her strength. The nightmare began when we arrived there late at night to find that the charge nurse had not come into work. Kerry was taken to a dingy (see pictures) "isolation" room at the end of a hall. The young staff started scrambling to get things set up. It took three attempts with different oxygen machines before one finally worked. I'm not sure if that was due to outdated machinery, faulty outlets....or both. There were NO pain meds and NO fluid (food!) for the feeding tube. We were rudely told that they were "working on it" but the meds may not appear before morning. My mother asked if she could stay with Kerry for the night since she was in an isolated room, she didn't have what she medically/emotionally needed and she may need assistance with communicating due to her cerebral palsy-related speech challenges. She was told "No, that's against our policy." With our hands tied, we reluctantly walked out of the place and prayed that Kerry would be safe for the remainder of the night. When we called early the next morning to find out when visitors' hours started, we were told that we couldn't come AT ALL because all the visitors' slots were filled for the day. (Not one person had mentioned that protocol the previous night!) Feeling desperate, we decided to discharge Kerry from Valle Vista. Arranging a transport, getting the paperwork completed, etc. took many hours. Since Kerry was going to be leaving, I was allowed to sit in her room while the process took place. During that time there were a few caring aides that came in and out of the room and attended to her needs. I want to thank them for that! As I was leaving, the woman at the desk apologized for the disastrous experience we had dealt with the night before. She admitted that Kerry would probably get better care if we were in charge. Sadly, we lost Kerry a short time later. Valle Vista was--and will always be--part of the trauma that we experienced in her final days. I wouldn't recommend that anyone allow Valle Vista to be in charge of a loved one. You have other choices!

Negative experience: My Mom was an Patient and was not taken care of. I was never updated about any changes in her health. I was notified on Feb 17th they were sending her to the Emergency Room due to overall weakness, and not eating. Once she was at the hospital and they ran tests I found out there were a whole lot of issues with her health that could of been treated if caught in time. Once at the hospital I was Informed of several bed sores. Nurses were very rude and not helpful one Nurse was very nice her name was Kali. I have called the Director, The Director of Nursing and the case manager and nobody is returning my calls.

Negative experience: This facility was recommended to my dad. He is now in the hospital!!! Your employees should not look at this as just a paycheck. It takes a special kind of person to do this job. My dad should NOT have gotten bed sores that have now turned into wounds if he was repositioned every two hrs. His diaper should have been checked and changed when wet. He had a fever from the infection on his butt. Doing YOUR job checking vital signs should be documented. Think you need to have a staff meeting on how to do your job. Would definitely NOT recommend this facility!!!!

Negative experience: Seriously, if you have any concerns whatsoever about a loved one I would not recommend this place! There are no phones available to patients and apparently they let a tablet get stolen from the facility. Will be looking into a transfer ASAP for my parent.
