Fantastic experience: Recently, after a week-and-a-half hospital stay, my mother spent about two-and-a-half weeks here at Hillside. She was treated very well, very kindly, and very attentively. The staff were very friendly, communicative to her (and myself as her caregiver), and very good at their jobs. Our family has had nightmare rehab stories from other facilities with other family members, so we went in with a negative predisposition, but we were relieved and glad to have those expectations subverted. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Staff was not knowledgeable of my dad’s medications and had to ask him what was in his nebulizer. One staff member was very rude to my dad and I had to write a report on her. The rooms have no comfortable place for guests to sit. The shared bathrooms are tiny and the toilets are rarely cleaned, even when requested. Some of the staff is very nice. There is a urine smell. The food is horrible.

Fantastic experience: What a great place. The CNAs work hard, and the nurses are outstanding. Management listens to and addresses concerns of staff, residents, and their families right away. Maintenence is impressive and integritous. The food is quality, and the activities are creative!

Negative experience: I don’t know why the reviews are so good, this place has poor care and half of the actual LPNs and RNs don’t check on their residents and the CNAs aren’t doing their job and it’s going unnoticed by the nurses. Unfortunately this seems to be the reoccurring thing throughout care facilities at the moment. Staff seemed overworked and burnt out, causing bad care. I’ve heard better things about it recently but overall they need to reevaluate how their CNAs treat residents.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would, even negative. After 6 days at McKenzie trying to recover, which was great care, My dad was transferred here to hillside for less than 24 hours, in that time he had 20 dollars stolen out of his wallet and a brand new pair of scissors I got for cutting up his food, his meds where not given on time and had a lot of verbal abuse among other things. So transferred by ambulance to McKenzie, no room so riverbend. After talking for hours with Riverbend social care person assuring us he can go back so they can transfer him somewhere else better, never happened cause they are refusing him back. My dad said they wanted him gone, if your in that much pain you need to go back to the hospital they say. Up at 12 pm trying to pee, hurting while doing it yelling in pain and they tell him to be quiet or leave. I want to sue but........ Now he has 4 antibiotics, 4. This is not right, and they should stone for it. Got an infection from the catheter which whoever did it caused a lot of blood and should of been obvious that it was going to cause an invection. BUT NO. Even knowing the oxycotton pain med is causing him sever hallucinations and blood pressure problems and on record for not giving it to him, they give it as his pain medicine. He is in the ICU 4th floor at Riverbend. This place needs to be closed.

Negative experience: Think twice about this facility.. My brother was admitted to this facility 2 weeks ago and as yet I have been unable to visit with him . Made an appointment. When my husband and I arrived at the appointed time I was told very curtly we did not have an appointment. We could not see him. We would have to make another appointment. We knew we had the appointment. It showed on my phone. Got home talked to his wife and decided to make another appointment. Called and was told could not make appointment three days in advance. What is your facility trying to hide?

Fantastic experience: From the moment I got to Hillside Heights I felt as though I was in capable hands! Transitions can be difficult and when you're already in some sort of distress, it can really get to you. But EVERYONE was so professional and great! (From the nurse practitioner, administrators, nurses, CNAs, physical therapy, occupation therapy, housekeepers, maintenance and all others.) When I first found out that I might be going to Hillside Heights, I looked up the Google reviews. It left me a little confused and conflicted about going there. But the doctor assured me that it was a good place for me to go.....and he was right! I appreciate all of the help that I received and really enjoyed getting to know everyone! I was sad to have to leave but so excited to return home and put to work what I learned while I was there. In my opinion Hillside Heights was exactly what I needed and exceeded what I had expected!

Positive experience: They took good care of both my dad and mom while they were there. Sometimes seemed under staffed, but the staff that was there worked hard. My mom was there for the last 18 months of her life and required total care. Were there things that could have been better,?...yes....but overall I'm pleased with the care my parents received.

Fantastic experience: I crashed my motorcycle when a deer jumped into me. After six days in the ICU and two weeks in general recovery I came to Hillside Heights. I’m 70 and didn’t expect to heal quickly. Every day I had different types of therapy so I could learn to walk again. When I arrived I could lift my right arm up to my navel, only. The staff had to bathe me, help me in and out of bed and dress me. They took very good care of me while helping me relearn the basics of living. Even the cook encouraged me.

Positive experience: I have worked for this company since July 2015 and have been at Hillside Heights since January of 2019. I will say there have been many changes this past year in staffing, management, education and implementation; some of these changes have been taxing and out short-term and long-term patients and residents have been most patient, understanding and even had wonderful senses of humor as we've undergone these processes. Having said this, we have still more improvements up our sleeves with a full-time education champion, infection control specialist and quality measures coordinator, our Administrator and Director of Nursing are active, not only within our facility, but out in our community with multiple senior affiliated and healthcare networking groups, we happily and continually open our doors as a training facility for nursing and nursing aide programs for multiple local schools to allow for the development of future healthcare workers and we pride ourselves on our interdisciplinary teamwork and communication. I can honestly say being a nurse of multiple genres, working in institutions of innumerable sizes, from coast to coast, I honestly Love my job, I love the people with whom I work with each day, I enjoying getting to know each and every admission and their families and seeing their progress from admission, to meeting goals, to hugs and handshakes as we walk them out the door at discharge. Going to work each day is not a grinding toll, my coworkers are like family and there just aren't many places you can put people under the stresses that healthcare workers are put under and still feel the way we do. Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Center is Amazing!

Negative experience: My dad came here after having hip replacement surgery. He had stage 4 colon cancer that had spread throughout his body. While in the care of this place he had pills go missing. There are times he didn’t even get any of his medication. They called me at 3 in the morning to come evaluate my dad when I have zero education in the medical field. They refused to call an ambulance for my dad one time and said because he didn’t give them consent, my dad wasn’t able to talk for the 2 days prior due to early stages of passing, so he wasn’t able to give consent. They tried distributing medication to my dad in pill form during this time when he wasn’t able to talk or even swallow for that matter. He was incoherent. The didn’t have a sheet on my dads bad so he was stinking to the nasty plastic bed. They didn’t have proper undergarments on my dad. They had him covered up with a thin pad, the kind used to prevent leaks on your bed, which he was saturated in his own urine and poop. A nurse there woke my dad up in the middle of the night from a deep sleep to tell him he was going to die. This was a couple weeks prior to his passing. The overall experience was terrible and I wouldn’t recommend at any point to anyone. Reports have been filed with the state. Take your loved ones elsewhere please.

Positive experience: I just finished 2 weeks at Hillside Heights, I was recuperating from Open Heart Surgery. The PT's and OT's were outstanding. Most of the Nurses were great, quickly took care of any need I had. Even the Nursing that was not as good was still, Satisfactory. The only reason I gave 4 stars was the Kitchen, I was given milk several times, I am allergic to milk. All that was needed was to tell the person giving me my food that I am allergic, and they took it and brought me juice. I did not have any problems with anyone at any time. Would I go back and stay with them: YES I would.

Negative experience: I have never been so unimpressed by a facility in my life. My mother in law was there for a little over a month and then we pulled her out of there. She went to the hospital twice, once because they screwed up her g-tube then another time because she had gotten a UTI from the filthy conditions. She wasn’t getting any better. Every time I visited they seemed under staffed and slow getting to the residents. My MIL couldn’t move her hands so she was unable some of the time to push her call button which let me to believe she wasn’t checked on very often. Even after we moved her the new staff at the place we moved her said that she looked like she hadn’t been bathed in weeks. I don’t recommend ANYONE going to this facility.
