Fantastic experience: I came into Essential Physical Therapy with a massively torn rotator cuff (two different tendons mostly torn). My previous physical therapist had given me an exercise which tore one of my tendons even more. I was in excruciating pain, and was very weak. Keith gave me some basic exercises that were very difficult at first, but I persisted with his kind encouragement. Now, a few months later, I'm in much less pain, and I have regained much of my strength. My shoulder is still really messed up, and I suppose it always will be, but without Keith's excellent help, I would be suffering miserably. I would definitely recommend Essential over any other physical therapist I've seen.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for months now for many back issues involving sciatica pain, L5 S1, and a few other problems that cause me daily pain and discomfort. They are always so welcoming and make sure to get me in as soon as possible. I have always had amazing and relaxing massages that follow after with a great adjustment that leaves me feeling so much better. I was pregnant as well and they were all so gentle, yet made sure I felt like I was getting the help I needed.

Fantastic experience: I’m here to say if you are hurting and in pain, this is the place to go. I went from barely climbing stairs to climbing with no pain. If I had to I could run up those stairs! Fantastic experience: Dr. Blackwell is great! This is the best experience I have ever had with a medical professional. I have been living with persistent abdominal pain for two years, following a fall. I have had every imaginable test offered by traditional medicine and finally decided to try physical therapy. It took some calls to find a physical therapy practice that would work with me based on such an undefined problem, but Essential Physical Therapy said yes, they would be happy to try. Dr. Blackwell listened to my "story", and started right in with trying different stitches and pressures. He found some stretches that reduced my pain the first visit. By my second visit, my pain had been reduced by 75%. By my third visit, my abdominal pain was just a "sometimes" annoyance, manageable with some quick stretching. I have been freed from all the diet restrictions and movement restrictions I had been living with while trying to manage my pain before PT. Dr. Blackwell and staff have also given me some valuable exercises to help me maintain strength in the years to come. If you have been thinking about PT, I highly recommend Essential PT.

Fantastic experience: I had a knee surgery about a year ago and had to do pt. My last pt didn’t do good at all, but these guys were super nice and helped a lot along the way. Now I’m going to play college basketball without pain. These guys took in how I was feeling everytime and always asked for an update. I’d also highly recommend getting a scar massaging after pt with Lenea after! (Assuming you get a surgery)

Fantastic experience: Keith had recommended stretches for my hip pain. Had practice them as I felt the discomfort and they went away very fast. Fantastic experience: I came to Keith and his wife Carrie 1.5 years ago, after working construction and full-time nursing for 2 years. Fantastic experience: I was recently a patient at Essential Physical Therapy for back pain, which was usually low grade, but sometimes very painful. From EPT I learned about the structure of the lower back and exercises that would help alleviate the pain. I have been rigorous in following the exercise routine every morning and evening and have experienced a marked improvement. Most of the time I am pain free.

Fantastic experience: This is THE place for physical therapy for me. Thankfully, I have only needed to visit twice, and each time, I was treated so gently and respectfully, and most of all effectively. The staff greeted me warmly and made me feel at ease with any questions. Communication was excellent throughout the process. The therapist listened intently, took notes, never rushed, and then worked carefully with me to share stretches that would unlock the pinched nerve or cramping muscles. I have referred anyone I know and love to come here when they need PT, including all members of my family. I hope to keep such visits to a minimum, but when I am in need of PT, this is my absolute go-to. Essential Physical Therapy is a special place to heal.

Fantastic experience: The team was tremendously caring and supportive. I felt like I was visiting friends every week. When I started PT, my knees were too painful to walk. Nick said the problem was caused by weak butt muscles. (He used the technical term.) Now I can walk over a mile. Nick also helped me deal with longstanding neck issues. He gave exercises to build muscle strength in my arms and legs. Nick was very resourceful, coming up with new ideas I could physically handle, always with a smile and a positive attitude. Fantastic experience: My experience with Essential Physical Therapy has been fantastic. I've worked with both Keith and Nick, primarily Keith. On my first visit, Keith was able to diagnose the issue causing my back/neck pain and provide some stretches to relieve pain when I have a flare-up. Since then, we've worked on strengthening the problem area to prevent future flare-ups. Two months into treatment, I had another flare-up, and it was about 50% as intense as previous episodes, which was a major improvement. I was able to get an office visit right away so I could work closely with Nick to pinpoint the problem and what movements could relieve my symptoms. Keith, Nick, and their assistant Keith really want to help you help yourself so that your quality of life is improved long after you stop seeing them as long as you put in the work. Very pleasant and soothing office space. The receptionist is knowledgeable, gives plenty of appointment reminders, and good at navigating insurance.

Fantastic experience: Essential PT was a great experience! Nice, new, and clean offices in a beautiful light-filled building. My therapist took the time to listen, explored treatment options with me, and in only few sessions my arm was feeling much better. I only saw him twice, in this time my arm improved so much with his treatment that I was able to treat myself with at home exercises once he explained the causes of the discomfort and various ways to address it. I think it's rare to have a PT be honest that I could self-treat after only two sessions, even though we made tremendous progress in the office. Also, I want to point out that my MD was wrong with my diagnosis and it was clear that Essential PT was correct in theirs, given my quick improvement and viable treatment plan. I won't think twice about returning, see you guys after my next injury!

He was kind and explained everything in detail BEFORE he made movements on my injured knee. He is skilled at giving exercises to help strengthen weak areas. Fantastic experience: Back issues, including a surgery, for over 12 years. I have seen other PT but no results or guidance. This time is different! Keith knows his stuff and is helping me have some relief for the first time in over 12 years!

Fantastic experience: I was pursuing a diagnosis and relief for a lower-back issue that had been troubling me for a year or so. I had seen chiropractors and massage therapists, but that hadn't been able to resolve the issue. Keith spent a fair amount of time during our first visit listening to the specifics of the problem and then working through some simple diagnostic movements to better assess what might be going wrong. By the end of that first visit, he provided me a working diagnosis as well as a few specific stretches that provided relief in the event of flare-ups. Keith is super knowledgeable and can communicate his knowledge in a way that is clarifying and helpful. I'm glad I connected with the team at Essential Physical Therapy.

Fantastic experience: I had a mysterious debilitating pain in my lower back that I'd put off looking into for weeks. Walking into this sweet little office set me at ease immediately, and Kerry was so gentle and calm and somehow managed to tell me I had a torn disk in a way that made me feel entirely optimistic about my recovery. His treatment and assigned exercises were very easy and did the trick in allowing my injury to heal cleanly and quickly. Fantastic experience: I’m a long time equestrian and Essential PT got me back on my feet after I started having severe hip pain. After the first visit I had immediate improvement in mobility and pain relief. Additionally, they addressed my long-standing back issues and gave me several useable tools to use when I experienced pain flare-ups. Fantastic experience: i was referred by thedoctor for treatment and Keith did the initial screening. able to point out some things and get started. Nick guided me at their office to confidently move thru each progression of exercises that needed for my recovery. from a fall iwas not in the pain i started with and was bummed our visits were ending. i think if i ever need these guys again (and i will) I'll head first to Essential Physical Therapy

Positive experience: I had persistent low back pain and hip spasms that I could not seem to stretch out no matter how much yoga I did- Keith showed me that I needed to strengthen rather than stretch- it took my daily routine from an hour down to about five minutes- I only needed three appointments and it was well worth it. I highly recommend making an appt for any kind of chronic pain as Keith is an experienced practitioner who can talk to you about pain as well as engage you with simple movements you can easily do at home! They also took my insurance so the cost was very low.

Fantastic experience: I initially saw Keith for an evaluation of my chronic hip pain (several years worth) at my doctor's office, he assured me that he thought this could get better in a fairly short amount of time with some physical therapy. Follow up was with Nick at Essential Physical Therapy (no bait and switch, Keith had a medical problem so had to be out of the office for a while). Nick did an amazing job, encouraging me and instructing me how to do the exercises the correct way and within a fairly short amount of time I was basically pain free and am able to walk as far as I want again, climb ladders and step stools without waking up in pain in the middle of the night. Nick has a great personality, is easy to talk to and explains things in an easy to understand manner. Thank you Keith and Nick for helping this woman get to moving comfortably again and giving me the tools to use if it creeps up on me again! All the staff is very kind, compassionate and helpful and the office & building has a comfortable, calm feeling with lots of reclaimed wood, nice artwork, decor, etc. As a senior citizen I especially appreciated their attention to COVID 19 protocols which made me feel secure and protected, good job! I highly recommend Essential Physical Therapy!!

He not only focuses on the area of concern but looks at other aspects of the person’s life and health as part of his evaluation and assessment. Fantastic experience: I seriously sprained my ankle and Keith has helped and encouraged me get back to an active lifestyle. He did a fantastic job figuring out exactly what the scope of the injury was then gave me a series of stretches and strength training exercises to get me back doing the things I love. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Keith Blackwell for your physical therapy needs. He is kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. I had a hard to pinpoint/out of the ordinary, pain issue and he was very careful to figure out what was going on before starting treatment. Once we knew there were no fractures or any other bone related problems, we started treatment. My issue was muscular and he didn't give up trying to find exactly which muscle groups were contributing to my pain. After a few weeks, I went from experiencing constant pain, to being able to walk without pain. It's rare to find a care provider that you not only enjoy spending time with, but you also feel completely confident in their ability to successfully treat you. Go see Keith. He can help you!

Fantastic experience: There’s a great energy to the team at Essential PT, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re very knowledgeable too :) Keith was able to identify a herniated disc issue that an MRI later confirmed, and had me working toward wellness immediately. Fantastic experience: Keith is very personable and a great teacher, which I have found most valuable in my visits to see him. He is not one to hoard the knowledge that he has and his ability to explain what he is seeing helps me have a greater understanding of what I need to do to heal.

Fantastic experience: Nick gave me fantastic care and upbeat encouragement after my back injury. He helped me improve my lifting and bending and learn some great stretches and exercises to relieve symptoms. His sunny disposition and sense of humor made my appointments fun. Best of all, of course, my back got well as a result!

This is my second time going to essential physical therapy. I have been to a few other physical therapists in Eugene and this is my favorite one. I like to know whoever is adjusting me has a good depth of knowledge and any concern was put to rest during our initial discussion. Keith gave me some specific stretches to avoid running into this issue again. Great overall experience and I would definitely go back.

Fantastic experience: I went to Essential Physical Therapy for around 2 months to treat an ankle injury. My physical therapist, Nick, helped me so much to get rid of my ankle pain and brought my pain down significantly. He’s very talented, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The office staff was very kind too. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: After nearly 7 years of neck pain from a concussion, I finally decided to see my doctor to find out what could be done. He recommended Essential Physical Therapy, and I'm SO very happy that he did! I woke up the morning after my first visit with no neck pain. The idea of neck manipulation scares me (whether that's rational or not), and Keith was very kind and did not push me to do anything I did not want. Across the board he is courteous - he will not touch you without first asking permission, and it is clear that you're his focus once in the office with him. I did agree to one type of neck manipulation that didn't freak me out, and that seems to have been the thing that drastically reduced my pain overall. With 2 more visits the occasional, minor pain I still experience has dwindled, and now we're just trying to figure out what can be done about the minor annoyance that remains. Keith explains his reasoning for trying different things and/or the "homework" he suggests to continue recovery. Can't say enough about what a great experience this has been for me!

Fantastic experience: Went to see Keith at Essential Pysical Therapy to help me with my lower back pains. Not only did he take the time to listen to my needs and concerns he adusted me and showed me daily stretches to alleviate the pain. Such a lovely staff and experience all around with an amazing therapy dog as well.

From his calm presence to his compassionate heart and gentle touch. You know you are in good hands! He will show you gentle techniques and exercises that you can do at home to better your condition. He takes the time to explain how everything in your body is connected so you can better understand what's the root cause of your pain. I learn so much about anatomy from every visit. Fantastic experience: Within the very first office visit, Keith identified areas of major weaknesses that contribute to my hip function problem. He listens well and his exercises prescription effective. He is also a good teacher who explains everything clearly so I understand how each of the exercises would help me to recover my hip functions. Working with Keith give me new hopes of recovery through PT!

Fantastic experience: I chose Essential due to the high reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Todd did everything he could to help me and has a great balance between professionalism and compassion. I think its critical to have a comfortable relationship with your physical therapist since they will see you at your worst. There's a lot of comments about Keith (and he was great as well), but Todd is just as good. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and everybody is cheerful and kind. Its nothing like the sterile white therapy room you've been in before. Why go to those places when you don't have to? Why do we accept that? The older I get the more I realize we have more choices than we think. I can't recommend Todd and Keith enough.

He is caring, compassionate and the one of the best human beings I have ever met. He listens and truly tries to resolve issues, rather than treating you like a number. Fantastic experience: From the moment you meet Keith you get the feeling he is there for his clients and not much else. He truly wants to help others heal. The movement recommendations, exercises, and detailed anatomy lessons were very much appreciated. He also didn't insist that I book several more sessions, he left that up to me and how I progressed on my own. Without a doubt, I will see Keith if I need treatment in the future.

Fantastic experience: I came to Essential Physical Therapy for a neck problem and quickly realized I had met Keith many years ago when he helped me with my back troubles.
