The Fayetteville Orthopaedic Clinic PA was established in 1974 by Dr. James Askins. He was soon joined by Dr. Robert Logel in 1976 and Dr. James Johnson in 1978 at their new office on Melrose Road.
At present, Drs. Schaefer, Barnes, McBrayer, and Barrie, in collaboration with Michael Dilello PAC, are providing the Fayetteville Community and the Cape Fear region with the same high-quality, caring, and professional care that they have been receiving for the past 45 years.
The doctor was also very professional and answered all of my questions. He was very thorough and explained everything in detail. I felt very comfortable and confident in his care.
I met P.A. Dilello, who is outstanding. He asked about my home life and any potential problems that could get in the way of my recovery. This is not usually asked and is one of the most important questions. Without a doubt, he is the best PA I have ever seen.
Fayetteville Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Front desk Staff, nurses,X-ray technician and Doctor all have outstanding customer service
Hi TAMMY, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Positive experience: Dr. Schaefer is a very knowledgable doctor, however I have never had an appointment with him where I had to wait in the waiting room for less than 1.5 - 2 hours. Once I see him I find him to be congenial and able Physician.
Hi Roger, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Fantastic experience: My experience was GREAT!!! Every time I get to see Dr. Schaefer, it is ALWAYS very positive and helpful!! Betty-Neill Parsons
Thanks so much for the kind words. Be well!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Bagsby is really great at what he does. I had a TKR and he went over the procedure step by step with me. He is a very nice and caring person. He made me very comfortable about the surgery. The only thing negative I can say is that it takes his nurse Heavenly a while to get back in contact with you if you have any concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Bagsby for your TKR.
Hi Michelle, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Fantastic experience: Very understanding and patient with explaining things I don’t understand the best dr Schaffer is a very kind doctor thank you.
Hi Maritza, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Negative experience: The Ortho place is great. However, the CFV billing is not. They sent my husband a bill for the co-pays which are paid prior to doing the PT. So nothing is owed. My Husband is calling Medicare to ask for fraud charges against CFV Health system.
Fantastic experience: Very pleased with my visit. Right on time with my appointment-no long wait. Everyone,as always, were very professional and knowledgeable.
Hi Connie, We appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot - be well!
Fantastic experience: I always have such a wonderful experience doing my appointment with the staff and Doctor. Thanks for the hospitality. You guys ROCK!!
Thanks so much for the kind words. Be well!
Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. Very friendly staff all around. Got seen in a timely fashion. Made sure I was informed & if needed any questions answered throughout the visit.
Hi GRAPE, We appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot - be well!
Negative experience: Continued review for Heather Crawford...... I left there with the cast still cut to wait to see Dr. Shaffer Tuesday at 10am. I went home, and then around 1pm my son comes and says "Mom do my fingers look like they are changing colors again, they seem like they are getting swollen again" at that point I had enough with the back and forth he may need surgery, he's not gonna need surgery and what's ifs. I called UNC Chapel Hill, and asked if they had a on call Orthopedic Peds Surgeon they said yes. They rep was so nice, she got all my information and told me she would see me when we got here (and she wasn't playing). I got there, checked in, two nice nurses came and got us from the ED and took us upstairs and Ped ED. Everyone was so very nice. I told them I wanted a second opinion. I told them the entire situation. The ED Dr came and I showed her the xrays and CT scan results and she said let me think about what I'm gonna do. I did wait for a little bit, the wait was worth it about 2 hours later 3 Orthopedic Surgeons came in and talked to us. They did another xray, told me that the xray was unacceptable and that he would do me disservice if he sent us home like that. He is doing a reduction, and putting on a new splint and I will be following up with them. These are our children, and our future. A doctors job is to be taken serious. We never felt comfortable, and as a mother I never trusted there advice to to the back forth and "not sure". I will never bring any of my kids here again. Let me also remind you that no doctors even called me or even called to come on Sat and see my son after all this. Instead, wanted me to wait until Tues at 10 with the cast cut and his fingers looking like that! Unacceptable.
Fantastic experience: Great place great Drs.I saw Dr Bagsby for two hip replacements and two carpal tunnel surgeries. He was awesome with all four procedures.
Hi Donna, We appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot - be well!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Cleveland was very thorough and concerned about my son injury and immediately did an XRAY in his office as well as referred us to another imaging center to have an MRI done. As soon as he got the MRI results. He called me and referred me to specialists who were very concerned regarding my son's injury. I truly appreciate all of his concerns and urgency as my son needed to be in a neck brace. Dr. Cleveland is very much appreciated, knowledgeable, and professional.
Hi Tina, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Negative experience: PA Dillelo and his team are great. They are knowledgeable, professional, kind, and made me feel heard and comfortable. The issue I have with this facility lies in the reception staff. Everytime I have spoken with a receptionist either during a visit or over the phone they were short and condescending. They treated me as though I was a nuisance. I no longer wish to be seen here, specifically because of my experience with the reception staff.
Fantastic experience: Yesterday was my very first visit with Fayetteville Orthopedics and sports medicine. I was so impressed with Dr McBrayer. After several months of severe pain in my shoulder, I saw Dr McBrayer and much to my surprise after a few X-rays Dr McBrayer had the answer to all my pain. We talked shoulder replacement surgery along wit a few other solutions to start out with before surgery and to my surprise this morning I am 95% better with very little pain. My pain level has gone from a 10 plus to a low one. Dr McBrayer you are by far a great dr and I thank you so much for helping me. This is why I am so impressed with him and if I ever do have to have surgery there will be no doubt whatsoever who I will have do the surgery. Thank you Dr Mcbrayer for giving me my life back.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Be well!
Fantastic experience: Was very professional,
Fantastic experience: Visit with Doctor was great.
Hi Mike, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Fantastic experience: Mary Margaret Walsh is a professional, caring therapist. She is very interested in helping you to succeed in your rehabilitation goal. I would recommend her to anyone who needs hand therapy.
Hi Ann, We appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot - be well!
Fantastic experience: I thank you for all your kindness. The Dr is very thorough and great.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Be well!
Negative experience: Don't like Dr. I been sitting 6 months with a broken leg, wrote a note to employer light duty, well at my job light duty doesn't exist! My leg is killing me but they don't care. He sucks on bed side manners!
Fantastic experience: Fast and friendly. I have very good previous and current care here at this facility.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Be well!
Fantastic experience: My visit here was great! Everyone greeted me with a nice warm smile. Dr. McBrayer explained everything to me in detail about my procedure. All the nurses were awesome as well. Explaining before and after the procedure. Thank you everyone for the kind experience.
Hi Sharon, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Fantastic experience: Very easy efficient check in .. great staff. The RMA took my BP the correct way. Unusual for most clinics Dr bagsby took time to examine me, review my xrays and explain my treatment options. Very pleased with the whole encounter .
Hi Laurie, Glad to learn your experience was a positive one. Be well!
Fantastic experience: I had get surgery for a labrum tear on my right hip. Dr.McBrayer did a great job with explaining the procedure and took my concerns seriously. The arthroscopy went well along with the physical therapy.
Hi Kyle, We appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot - be well!
Fantastic experience: Well I saw Dr Michael Dilello for both shoulder pain and he's amazing love him good caring dr ❤️ now I'm going back to him for another issue the staff is great and I would recommend his office to everyone at cfv fayetteville orthopedics and sports medicine in fayetteville nc
Thanks so much for the kind words. Be well!
Negative experience: Took mom to her appointment that was at 3:00. Well we did get to see the Dr until almost 5:00. They need to get there scheduleing together.

Negative experience: I was referred here by the emergency room after my daughter broke her hand and told to get her in in the next couple days. Every time I called I got transferred to someone’s assistant who never answered the phone and never called back after I left several voicemails. I know time is important when it comes to a broken bone so I decided to call another orthopedic place who answered and got her in right away. I’m really thankful for the other place.
Fantastic experience: This is my second time going to therapy. First time I had microscopic surgery to clean up my meniscus therapy was hard then I'm back in therapy because I had a full knee replacement I have been working with two therapists a guy and a pregnant woman now they know exactly what you need to get you back on track I just had a set back but I have been doing what I learned from them at home but I highly recommend Fayetteville orthopedic and sport medicine and therapy
Fantastic experience: I was scheduled with Dr. McBrayer for complex hip surgery. Going into the whole ordeal, we knew there were a few issues at hand, but the MRIs downplayed the complexity and surgery was lengthier than expected. Dr. McBrayer handled the issues that arose and exceeded my expectations in patient care and explaining all aspects of surgery as well as pre/post-op care.
Fantastic experience: Dr Schaffer and his staff is top notch. And the PT Department is great.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Darren Bagsby is wonderful. He has replaced my left knee and my right hip. I would not see anyone else for my joint repairs.
Negative experience: I remember when me and my father went there for my left waist. The whole staff were rude. I didn’t like how they treat us. I’ll pay the payment when I can too.
Negative experience: I had three appointments with Dr Schaffer and each time I waited 1.5 hours or more to be seen. When I finally was seen, there was no recommendation or anything. I went to Raleigh Ortho got a shot in my knee and was put in a brace. That’s what I expected from Fayetteville.
Negative experience: Went to the hip doctor $60.00, he moved Mt leg around and said "Welp, if I can do that is not your hip. It's your back." Same facility different day. So I paid another$60.00 for the back dr to say " it's not your back, it's your hip." In the meantime I was told to get an MRI on my back for the back doctor. Fayetteville Ortho did not get it authorized so I had to pay out of pocket and it did not even go towards my deductible. More completely useless x rays that they did BEFORE I saw the back doctor who then said it's not my back. Final result: no relief, going to a neurosurgeon(which I had to call 5xs for them to send my office notes) out $960.00 for absolutely no reason from Fayetteville Ortho. I have been up to that office to try to get help from the office manager but have NEVER received even a phone call back from her! Needless to say it took them 2 weeks to send my records. I would NEVER EVER recommend this orthopedic office!!
Negative experience: It is now an hour past my scheduled appointment (which they requested I been 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork). The office staff claim they can not give me and update on when I will be seen. I understand that offices run late later than scheduled sometimes but this absolutely unacceptable !
Negative experience: I hate leaving bad reviews but after calling for over a month and requesting the medical records for my child it is ridiculous. The medical records line has a full mailbox and no one ever answers or returns calls. I have left messages and left my contact information with the operator several times. They changed the provider after 2 visits and didn’t provide reasoning or options. If I brought up concerns they were dismissed. They billed my insurance as seeing doctors that she never even saw. After dealing with this for months and resulting in my child not healing properly, we went for a second opinion. I am so happy we did. The questions that I raised were valid and the path the new doctor had taken without even asking. It is sad that proper care and consideration can’t be provided and sad putting anyone through this especially a child. The physical therapy side is wonderful. The physician and medical records is a horrific experience.
Negative experience: This place has pulled every nerve I have. I am at the point where I want to snap everytime I speak with someone they are not accommodating and do everything they can to squeeze another dollar out of you. They are not the best around drive 45 minutes to somewhere better that will actually give you the time of day and hear you out. If you have any questions nobody will try and help you they just say oh we aren't for your doctor and brush you off this office is absolutely horrible. However the therapy side is a different story I feel sorry they have to be associated with such a sorry uncaring doctors office as they are wonderful and I have not had one bad experience going to therapy or dealing with anybody there yet
Negative experience: Can't be bothered to update their website. Website clearly says same day appointments and walk-ins welcome. So I went to be seen by the walk-in clinic. They're not doing that today and don't have anymore appointments today. Your lack of providers and saying the Website is old are poor excuses! You make way too much money to not keep a Website updated! If it hadn't said walk-ins welcome and same day appointments, I wouldn't have wasted my time and gas coming here!
Negative experience: Went here as a referral!!!. They did me so wrong and dirty!!! and got every cent out of me in the most disgusting way… a huge waste of my days and my time waiting for 2 hrs to get seen past my appointment time!!! To tell me “there is not much more we can do for you at the end of the day” when MRI results don’t lie (requested to be done by them and then to be told there is nothing wrong with me when I also got my MRI results via email and there was a list of things wrong!!!!!). So instead of referring me to someone who specializes in “back pain”… go on and take my money and waste my time and spit me out!!!. And I didn’t EVER EVER get a call from a chiropractor that Dr. Shaffer said he would put in(did he even ever put it in, I guess not!!)… disgraceful and waste of my damn time that has anything to do with Cape Fear!! when I could be finding someone better to help me out! I do not recommend this office at all! Horrible experience!
Fantastic experience: Simply amazing! They were able to see me same day. I arrived, filled out new client paperwork and was immediately called back. After taking X rays the doctor went over them with me and informed me my finger was broken! This was shocking as I had been to urgent care earlier today and they told me my finger wasn't broken. After being put in a cast, I was given all the information I needed until my follow up appointment. Wonderful staff !! Amazing doctors!!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful people work there from the doctors to the janitors great surgical team. This 83 year old just had knee operation just 5 days ago and I’m doing great, i highly recommend Fayetteville Orthopaedics.
Fantastic experience: I just want to give a huge round of applause to this place! Danielle and Dr Mcbrayer have done an amazing job of making me feel like family. From my first initial appointment through scheduling me for surgery and even afterwards with follow up care. I couldn’t be happier with how this place treated me! Courtney, Tim and Blaire are very professional and it’s clear that they have a passion to help people. Great job making a scary situation a little less scary. Highly recommend this place!
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much Mr. Michael Dilello, PA and your wonderful staff for taking the best care of Jackson today. You all went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. In fact, I think he even had a little fun—okay, he had a lot of fun! He loves his cast and loves that Victoria got to sign it first. Thanks again!
Fantastic experience: DR BARNES IS THE BEST! First Doctor to Perform, Arthlascopic, Surgery He's Worked in Durham and Speality Hospital.. Senior, Dr's Have Bragged About his Quality and Care..he Was awesome When I Had Shouder Surgery .
Fantastic experience: I have been going here since I had rotator cuff surgery. Dr. Barnes and his staff are excellent. The physical therapy is awesome as well. They are welled trained and consider the patients' rehab most important.
Fantastic experience: everyone was great to work with and they encouraged me and always pleasent to have as my therapist
Fantastic experience: Dr. McBrayer is outstanding in every way!!!
Fantastic experience: Appointments were on time. OT therapist, Mike, was great!
Fantastic experience: Was very professional and informal.. would recommend anyone
Fantastic experience: The staff is incredibly friendly and work hard to help patients achieve their recovery goals.
Fantastic experience: Friendly receptionist and super professional therapist, Ms. Diana. All deserve 5 golden stars.
Fantastic experience: Great service and professional employees. Very kind and compassionate.
Negative experience: The doctor is good the are very expensive ......every visit co pay cost me 300 or more after insurance ...I trying paying on it ...but it has become to expensive ... billing would not work with me ....
Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous wait times. Staff tells you to show up 20-30 minutes early to fill out paperwork if you're a new patient. Then they tell you "sorry, the doc is running behind today and will be with you an HOUR AND A HALF after your scheduled appointment time.
Negative experience: If I could give NO STARS. Staff including Dr is RUDE AND INSENSITIVE ! I felt Discriminated...Lee in HR compared the stitches in my finger to a Noose saying that's how they were tied. I informed her when speaking to a Person of Color you don't say that word. WHAT IN HELL MADE HER SAY THAT..... Dr Mc Brayer said he wish they would make stitches for darker skin because you can't see them. All insensitive comments ! The Older Blonde MA is impatient and rude. Not good experiences for the money they have received from me. Will not get another dime from me
Fantastic experience: The staff here are simply amazing! They are all focused on getting you healed and to your best self again. Alicia has been amazing and very informative with my healing process.
Negative experience: Wait times here are absolute trash, I bring my elderly mother here pretty regularly as this is one of the few places that accepts all her medical coverage and the time we spend waiting in undoubtedly ridiculous, we arrive 15 to 20 minutes early and wait hours to be seen, here is an example, her appointment was for 1130am this morning and we arrived at 1113am, it is now 130pm and I am still sitting here waiting for her to be seen. Two hours have now passed and she still has not spoken to a doctor. We have actually sat here in the waiting room for over 4 hours to be seen for let that 10 minutes. I do not know who has time for this but we sure don't. You could literally show up, sign in, and go have breakfast/ lunch or do some shopping, come back and still sit and wait probably an additional hour before they put you in a room to be seen a few more hours later. How about instead of taking more and more patients and providing less than adequate care you focus on making your visit times more reasonable and give your patients some actual meaningful care with some real interest in their needs. My mother and I have actually walked out a few times after waiting several hours and never has she been asked what happened or why she had left before being seen. I almost feel like they are banking on people getting up and walking out so the insurance can be billed and no care given cha-ching next in line please. Absolutely sad, I would like to give this review some negative stars but I guess no one really wants the truth these days and I am forced to give even the slightest rating of "satisfaction" I will post this review on as many forums as I can find so that it may assist a new patient with their search for professional care.
Negative experience: Went here about a dozen times. Their staff is very friendly and the doctors are communicative and have a sense of humor. However, they're the most expensive non-surgical doctor's place I've ever been to. To make things worse, every other appointment they set you up for is pointless. They have you come in just to tell you what they're going to do the NEXT appointment, and both the productive appointment and the pointless one cost over $100 each. Which is ironic because this place went VERY overboard early in the pandemic; processing patients like cattle. You'd think they wouldn't want excess volume for no reason, but clearly profits come first here. Even more ironically, now that we are in the biggest wave of the pandemic yet? They've SEVERELY relaxed their system and take patients as their original volume again. I never got the issue I went here for fixed. But after enough appointments I just couldn't afford it anymore. Really I would give this a 4/5 if they didn't have this weird "Every other appointment accomplishes something" system. Imagine waking up early every other week and waiting 40 minutes just to be told "Next visit/week we're going to do a test that takes 5 minutes. Okay see you then." Charged over $100 for both, and have to repeat that loop endlessly. So frustrating.
Fantastic experience: I had the best time at physical therapy. Never thought those words would make print, but there it is. Even though I was doing my strengthening exercises, it felt more like hanging out with close friends. Dr. Lindsay, Breonna, and I chatted about the most random things from travel and theme parks to toddlers and gorillas. The hour flew by fast. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming like they've never known a stranger. Fayetteville orthopedics will always have my business.
Fantastic experience: I love the facility and staff. They are always nice and they move pretty quickly. They are very caring and I will definitely recommend Dr McBrayer to anyone. He is such a nice man and did an outstanding job with my surgery .
Fantastic experience: Dr. McBrayer, Danielle, the staff & nurses in D-Pod are absolutely phenomenal! We can honestly say; Dr. McBrayer, and his assistant Danielle, literally do not stop until you get the level of care they would want for their own family members. I don't know what my family would have done without them on numerous occasions. Really, the entire staff from the check-in staff, x-ray technicians, staff that fits your for walkers, crutches, and any other aids you might need, right on down to the VERY sweet, polite, and accommodating young gentleman at the checkout desk... they are ALL amazing people! Walk across the hall to physical therapy and those are some pretty wonderful people as well. They'll work your butt off to make sure you are rehabilitated, during which might not seem to be so pleasant, but they make sure things are working as good as they possibly can after going through any kind of traumatic event that causes you to need rehabilitation. Fayetteville Orthopaedics is definitely the place to go!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Barnes is the best! I had both rotator cuffs and a bicep worked on by him without any complications. As for the physical therapy personnel...what can I say. They care about each patient and do their best to bring you back to 100%. As of 7/18/2022, l am still in therapy due to having both rotator cuffs done within 4 months of each other.
Fantastic experience: The staff at Fayetteville Orthopedics are so friendly from the person that signs us in to the team that does the physical therapy.i may not always feel like doing my therapy, but the staff encouraged me through the process. Thanks to all the staff each and everyday for their hard work!!!
Fantastic experience: Everything was awesome! I was running a few minutes late but Elizabeth made me feel ok. she was very kind and helpful with any questions i had. She put me at ease. I would recommend her to anyone needing help.
Fantastic experience: This group deserves 10 stars! The staff treat their patients/clients like they are the most important people in the world. They are compassionate, caring, patient, and really listen to our concerns while being completely professional in their conduct. I am very grateful for being in their care.
Fantastic experience: I'm very thankful for Rachel. She made numerous people laugh every time I had an appointment. Typically doctor's visits are boring, but it was nice to see her infeflowins positivity flowing to others. She even danced for this little girl who was a bit shy to do so herself. Thanks Rachel, Grill guy
Fantastic experience: I had a great therapist!! Lindsay was a pleasure to work with during PT. She She made sure that I had the correct exercise program to help with my lower back pain. Thanks , Lindsay
Fantastic experience: Great therapists who know how to help patients recover after surgeries. Their expertise greatly enhances the process to move steadily and give the patients more confidence
Fantastic experience: The staff here are simply amazing! They are all focused on getting you healed and to your best self again. Alicia has been amazing and very informative with my healing process.
Fantastic experience: I am really pleased to go through therapy for the total hip replacement at Fay Ortho & Sport Med. I definitely have m favorite therapist because she is detailed and pays attention to my form (how I do the exercises) but also Jeff is very detailed and very detailed in his explanations. I have a mantra in my head "heel to toe" that one of the therapist told me ( I cannot remember her name but she is petite and carries a smile) and as I walk this mantra follows me hahaha! A great team overall.
Fantastic experience: The care from the therapist was excellent. He went out of his way to make sure that you understand the exercise and make sure it does not worsen your pain. I noticed all therapist care for the patients.
Fantastic experience: This is my first time in physical therapy. I am very happy in this therapy team. The attention is first class, both the employees and the physiotherapists are very attentive and professional. I don't want to miss any of my therapies. I feel very happy and very comfortable. Thanks for all the help you have given me. I recommend them 100%.
Fantastic experience: Pain in right Knee. The Doctor was excellent after thorough review of X-rays determining source of the pain was due to bone on bone. He gave me a steroid shot and recommended 6 weeks of Physical Therapy (PT). The PT has been excellent having Lindsey and Jacelyn as my therapist. Both are implementing a series of exercises and have shown compassion and dedication in getting me back to having less pain and better mobilization using my right leg. The scheduling administration and technicians have been excellent. I show up and at the exact scheduled time I am called back by technician or therapist to start my hour of PT. I can walk around without as much pain but still have a few weeks PT and exercise ahead of me.
Fantastic experience: Michael Kim is very professional and attentive to my situation. He is truly an asset to your facility and will do well with you. I was very pleased with his care and would recommend him to my relatives and friends. Once my hand was like new he did not waste my time with additional appointments. Thank you Michael for your professionalism and kindness.
Fantastic experience: II recently has Knee Arthroscopic Surgery and highly recommend Fayetteville Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. The Physical Therapist are all caring individuals that take your recovery serious and put your needs first. I have had nothing but great experiences every time I have had a PT Session there. Courtney Webb did my initial consult and has me on a road to recovery. I wont say it has been without pain, as I have learned to work to pain, not through pain... In my opinion the facility and staff offer the best recovery for anyone that is in need. I look forward to a positive outcome.
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere and staff
Fantastic experience: The staff is very attentive and when necessary they work together very smoothly and professionally.
Fantastic experience: Physical Therapy is not easy, but the therapists at Fayetteville Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine are the best at guiding the patient through the exercises that lead to healing! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Jeff is a solid clinician. He has a perfect mix of clinical skills, people skills and the abity to motivate. Nicely done!
Negative experience: This place is horrible. Have been trying to get a doctors note to go back to work for over a week and they just keep saying they will write a note and put it on the doctors desk.. AND NOTHING HAPPENS. They don’t try and help you at all! You can’t get any straight answers about anything. Can’t get anyone on the phone. Just so ready to be done with this place!!
Fantastic experience: As long as you continue with the exercises they give you to do at home you’re recovery improves substantially. The Therapists are very knowledgeable and helpful ensuring the stretching and exercises are done properly.
Fantastic experience: Connor Buck took time to listen and carefully create a care plan. He was attentive and helpful in teaching the exercises. I’m most appreciative of the services at Fayetteville Orthopedic
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the physical therapists and staff. They always treat the patients with respect and seem to genuinely care about you. Above all, they're very professional.
Negative experience: Dr. Dilelo is such a horrible orthopedic. He only comes in to “feel” my arm then I bring up any concerns or questions and he quickly answers him in a smart snarky way that is quick to shut me down he types up some information on the computer which only takes him less than a minute to do and then leaves with no explanation and no updates on my situation or x-rays. I also paid the consultation fee of $212 and on my second visit which was my follow up I had to pay an outstanding balance of $50 and I asked why they said it was because of some extra work done which I was not aware of. They directed me to the billing department which I have called plenty of times and no one answers. I have also had to call multiple times and leave multiple voicemails to reschedule an appointment. I am definitely going to look for another practice that will take care of me and dedicate their time instead of rushing out and having their nurses dealing with patients. I do not recommend this place at all they are very sneaky about how they deal with patients concerning your money and redirecting your questions and not answering you in person or on the phone.
Negative experience: I've seen Dr. Barrie and PA Dilello a couple times, and they are great. However, it is nearly impossible to get in touch with their scheduling assistants, particularly Dr. Barrie's. Of the ~30 times I've called over the last six months, I've gotten a hold of an assistant four times. And they never respond to voicemails, so don't bother. I ended up having to make a new patient appointment at a different orthopedist's office for my most recent injury.
Negative experience: I didn’t want to have to write this review. I have given the manager three weeks to get back to me and she still has not done so. I had a consultation at this office on November 4th for a broken hand that required surgery. At that time, I paid a consultation fee of over $200 for them to tell me that yes, they can do my surgery and that I needed to get it scheduled as soon as possible with Dr. Barrie. I called Dr. Barrie’s assistant the very next day, Thursday November 5th, to schedule the surgery and did not get a callback until the following Monday, November the 9th. When I spoke to Dr. Barrie‘s assistant, she let me know that they did not accept American Express (which I planned to pay with) and I told her I would need to figure something else out and call her back. I called her back the very next day on the 10th and left a voicemail. I didnt get a callback. So I call again on Wednesday the 11th and she answers telling me that they no longer have “time” to do my surgery. No explanation but that I would need to find another doctor. When I asked for my consultation fee back so I could take it to another surgeon, she told me I should’ve done the surgery sooner and it wasn’t their fault. Which clearly wasn’t possible because I couldn’t even get her on the phone. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She told me she would have a manager call me and hung up. (Come to find out, the reason they didn’t have time to do my surgery is because the surgery center where they do their surgeries was having air-conditioning issues. So they were having to reschedule multiple of their surgeries and basically just told me I was out of luck. THAT IS NOT YOUR PATIENTS FAULT.) No manager ever called me. So I emailed the manager explaining what had happened and asked for my consultation fee back at the very least. I received an automated email response saying she was out of the office but that she would be back the following Monday. It’s now been three weeks and I’ve still not heard from her. This office not only cost me a lot of money, (because I ended up having to do my surgery at a hospital instead of a surgery center) but they cost me a lot of time. My hand should have been fixed very quickly. With all of this being said, this review is specifically for Dr. Barrie’s assistant and the manager of this office. Everyone else that I came into contact with were wonderful. But it only takes a couple people to spoil an entire experience. I have now seen another surgeon that literally did my surgery the next day. If anyone is needing any kind of orthopedic surgery I highly suggest the Pinehurst Surgical Clinic. Specifically doctor Conti. He was compassionate, understanding, and most of all professional. Everything that you should be when you’re working in a doctors office.
Negative experience: I was warned early on about this place by a former patient, but I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt. I regret not taking heed to that advice. I have been attempting to contact this place for 2 weeks. Today, after my fourth call for the day, I finally was able to connect with someone they had to hunt down. The receptionist ( I believe her name was Linda) was rude and unprofessional when I attempted to call to set up an appointment after being referred here by my physician. She advised me the person I needed to speak with was out sick and advised she wasn’t aware when they were going to return.(Someone by the name of Jackie.) She advised me Jackie was out sick only to turn around not even three minutes later after I took an opportunity when I could get a word in edgewise and explained my issue she placed me on hold so she could consult with Jackie (the same Jackie she advised me was out sick) about when I could be seen. She wouldn’t allow me to finish a sentence before she’d cut me off thinking she knew what I was going to ask and attempting to answer my questions, but because she wasn’t allowing me to finish my sentence she was answering a question I wasn’t asking. I never did get an answer to my question. If the receptionist are a reflection of the staff then I don’t think this is the place for me. Needless to say after trying to contact these people since the week before Thanksgiving, I won’t be visiting this establishment. At this point I will gladly start the process all over again and find another facility.
Fantastic experience: I had to have surgery on my rotator cuff once Dr. Mcbrayer started the surgery there was A lot more damage than we realized. The staff at Fayetteville Ambulatory was awesome the day of my surgery. I think they knew I was nervous. You see I have Congestive Heart Failure. My heart has a hard time beating. From beginning to end they were right there for me. Then I started my therapy. Miss Gina Cherico is my therapist she is a awesome lady. She helped me through my therapy exercises and was so kind and patient. I'm 100% happy with their service and couldn't have ask for a better group of people to help me get through this. Thank you Fayetteville Orthopedic & Sports.
Fantastic experience: I cut my hand and a tendon in June. I have never had a significant injury in the past. Dr. Berrie repaired the tendon and Matt was in charge of my recovery therapy (OT). Everything went well or better than expected. I am still getting better everyday and I am glad I listened to both of them. All the staff at the facility were great as well, from scheduling to reception to billing. My hand has given me enough trouble and I am thankful this facility made getting better as easy as possible. I will updated once OT is completed and my hand heals as much as it can.
Fantastic experience: This is by far the best doctor's office we have ever been to. My son broke his arm twice this year and we chose to visit Fayetteville orthopedic this time and we have not been disappointed! Every staff member has been so kind. The nurses are amazing and Dr. McBrayer is absolutely outstanding! I am so thankful we chose this place.
Fantastic experience: Mary Margaret is very professional and makes you feel comfortable during the visits and doing the prescribed exercises. She is very helpful and willing to answer any questions. I do highly recommend her for any OT needs.
Fantastic experience: Both of our daughters have now had Jennifer Narron to get them rehabilitated to get back to playing sports and she’s been awesome! As well as when we’ve had other therapist for their appointments! Our family highly recommends Fayetteville Orthopedics and Sports Medicine!
Fantastic experience: Only been 2 times but so far very professional and caring. Ryan gives good instructions with each exercise and makes you feel you can do each exercise and motivates you to complete the exercise. By watching his interactions with other people shows he really cares.
Fantastic experience: This is one busy PT clinic! Everyone from the staff behind the desk to the physical therapists is friendly, courteous and encouraging. Every time I go to an appointment I see people everywhere smiling and having jovial conversation, including the patients. Conner is my physical therapist. He knows exactly what my shoulder needs to get better. He knows when to push me and when to let up a bit. He listens to my frustrations about my shoulder condition and has actual conversations with me about it. He helps keep me focused and encourages me when I feel frustrated and discouraged. I recommend this clinic over and over and over again!
Fantastic experience: The staff here is excellent. Great team of professionals. The services are superb, they are very quick in assisting the patients and are also very professional and thorough. Though in the PT department I’ve only had minimal interaction with the office staff, the little that I’ve experience thus far is that they do not hesitate in assisting and resolving any existing issue of the patients. Physical Therapist Mrs/Ms Brooks Burns is absolutely great! She is such a gem, very professional, warm, welcoming and caring. She’s seemingly such a gentle individual who appears to love what she does and is knowledgeable in the area as she should be. She is well organized, supportive, compassionate and establishes a good communicative therapeutic rapport with her clients. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Barnes is the best surgeon EVER! He went over my x-rays with me and explained my injury in great detail. He was with me when I checked in for surgery and stayed with me throughout the entire pre-op procedure. He made me feel very comfortable, very special and very confident that he would take good care of me. After surgery, I got a personal call from Dr. Barnes to make sure I was okay and find out if I had questions. Connor Buck was my physical therapist and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. He has the patience of a saint. When I told him that I couldn’t remember how to do my exercises when I got home, he gave me pictures and digital videos. He was always cautious not to cause me any excessive amount of pain. I am just finishing six months of therapy and I’ve loved every minute of physical therapy! Everyone there is amazing!!
Fantastic experience: The concern that the Therapist show lets you know their focus is on your healing. They all work together and this makes it a great experience. I feel better every time I leave there. I think they are great!!
Fantastic experience: My initial PT session went extremely well thanks to Cody. He provided very thorough explanations of my injury, my treatment and care plan. Cody answered all my questions and ensured I had a full understanding of the proper way to complete my excercised.
Fantastic experience: This facility has very personable and professional staff that are very efficient and competent... Connor did a great job working me through movements that helped loosen, stretch and strengthen my shoulder and prepared and provided a personalized, thorough set of exercises for me that have helped improve my mobility and lessen my pain. Great job all!!!
Fantastic experience: I have now been seen a few times in the PT clinic. All of the staff from the initial temperature check in, to the appointment check in, to the PT staff are all top notch. Lauren, Myrna and Gina are AMAZING! Gina is patient, kind and very knowledgeable about my injury. Lauren and Myrna were very helpful with getting my TriCare referral pushed through so I could begin my treatment process. I highly recommend!
