Highland House Rehabilitation & Healthcare: Reviews
Fantastic experience: As a health care resident here into my 8th year I tell you strongly that the present Administrator Tanya Drake is the very best and longest serving in that position. She is responsible for selecting an excellent staff such as Miss Ebony, Director of Nursing and others, The nurses are EXCELLENT and the Certified Nurse Assistants are good to excellent. I have been cared for with kindness and compassion for my illness. These are pros who work as a team. I am 84 and I would have felt very good about placing my Mother and other relatives here. I HIGHLY recommend this nursing home to you for you and your family. This home is very, very clean without any offensive odors in any of the resident halls. Please come and visit me, Don Wire, Ed.D in Hall A, Room 29.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.
Positive experience: I've been here since November 11 23 and am a permanent resident now I've always got good care. Several aides have been fired because they didn't. Do their job. Over all most of them are very good.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.
Negative experience: This facility is Horrific!!! Avoid placing your loved one here. Terrible Administration and Management, lack of proper supplies required for care, lack of equipment for residents (ex: towels washcloths, briefs, barrier creams, shaving razors, tooth brushes wheelchairs, rehabilitation devices) the list goes on. Instead of fixing the problems they try to make it look good until corporate and state leave. Looking for employment here? Be prepared to go home after your shift feeling horrible because you don't have the necessities to properly care for your assignment.

Fantastic experience: The team at Highland House is amazing!!! The entire team is professional and kind, and the department head went out of her way to explain any questions I had. Huge shoutout for being so helpful during a new chapter in my family’s life!

Negative experience: Hey, are the worst facility in the world. I wouldn't have my dog to stay in there Please, somebody do something about it. I try nothing have been done

Positive experience: Greetings, I stopped by to let the owners or managers of the place know that they should take more into account opening the doors to visitors who are going to visit a family member. It is unacceptable that one waits like 3 to 5 minutes to be able to enter the place since almost There is no one at the front desk all the time. I understand that if they don't have the person for everything, they should have a modern device that comes to notify the employees that there is someone in front of the place waiting for them. If they have a piece of paper that has a number but they never answer, I hope to see that they have resolved the problem because I will be arriving at the place often and if the problem continues I will continue to make complaints. I hope for improvements and I thank the staff that works there, but that is up to the administrator of the facility.

Negative experience: Highland House deserves zero stars! This facility almost killed my aunt. She has been there for a year, and she now has heart failure, liver failure, and COPD. She complained about poor circulation, and they just gave her laxatives. She fell on the floor, and they threw her back in bed. They never checked her, so my cousin called 911. My aunt was in the hospital for three weeks. She had to receive two blood transfusions when she got to the hospital. Highland House has not had hot food in months, and the food they serve does not contain the nutritional needs the residents require. Since leaving, my aunt can stand independently, and her health is improving. Do not bring your family here if you love them!!

Negative experience: The level of care at this facility has to be the bare minimum required by LAW!! It is almost non-existent! I've stayed in the room with my mom for 5 straight hours and the only employee to come in the room was the lady bringing the food! Today, they called and say the food cart lady found my mom on the floor. Yet again, the food lady was probably the only one that checked on my mom for HOURS. I'm moving her to a more competent facility ASAP!

Fantastic experience: Hey unfortunately I have been in a terrible car accident against a drunk driver and I have suffered a stroke and I have been in a comma for three months and my brain has fallen out of my head but only just a part of it came out and I thank God that my brain has been replaced back in my head. Unfortunately I will not be able to walk again and here at Highland House Rehabilitation Center I have been shown so much love and concern

Positive experience: I was transferred from CFVMC to Highland House for rehabilitation to overcome muscle weakness after a lengthy battle of COVID tied to pneumonia. Although I was hesitant at the thought of another “rehab” facility, once I arrived, settled in, and met some of the staff, seems that I slowly began to find a purpose and pace. This is an older building and compound and may not possess all of the glitz and glam of other facilities. However, please don’t be misled. I am reminded of something my mother used to say…”everything shiny ain’t gold.” The most important asset here is the warm-heart, of a genuinely caring professional staff. All levels of staff were equally concerned and eager to help satisfy me in anyway possible. Every one of my concerns were listened to and discussed until they were resolved. I was actually impressed at witnessing the smooth flow of true teamwork. My only complaint would be food. Often the food arrived cold and rather bland, needing a little bit “more love,” and balance but nothing more. This is my only reason for not giving the five star review. Although the entire staff was outstanding, there are several who really stood up, Thank you. Nurses: Alva and Carol. Aids: Hillary and Sabrina. Admin: Brittney and Natasha. Therapy: Jackie and Roya. If I am ever in need of a rehab facility again, I will not have any reservations or hesitate where to go. I would gladly return to Highland House and recommend it to any of my loved ones.

Negative experience: This facility is horrible! As my mom’s condition worsen, she was neglected, and over medicated, when she was placed in the hospital, she was dehydrated and malnourished. Shortly after that she transitioned.
Negative experience: if you have a possum or raccoon that needs to go to hospice, maybe you should choose this place. Other than that, i recommend not using this facility. The decommissioning of this facility, would do wonders for Fayetteville!!!

Fantastic experience: Our disabled friend is living there and every time we go the staff is cleaning and very friendly. Our friend is being well cared for and likes living there. The staff has always been very helpful and seems to care about their clients.
Negative experience: My appt was at 1 at 2 I was still waiting when i ask what's the wait I got the same answer "they getting her up now". This is the worst facility my mother has ever stayed at.
Negative experience: My friend is trying to get some rehab here and he claims they are not following through and often deny them water when they ask for it. I wish someone would do an inspection on this facility and report them! There is no excuse for mistreatment of disabled people!!!
Negative experience: The absolute worse place on earth! I have been trying to contact this place for weeks about my Aunt! NOBODY ever answer phone!
Fantastic experience: Had some pertinent issues regarding a circumstance for a family member. I spoke with a wonderful, caring woman named Nichole Baldwin. She reccomended we contact this facility for help. If this organization cares even half as much as Ms. Baldwin does to their clients as she has stated, I know we will be in the best of care. Thank you, Nichole! You're amazing ;-)
Positive experience: Mom likes it. She has her own room and is treated well by the staff.
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. I tried to get my sister in here for long term care. The admissions coordinator, Stephanie, doesn't know what the heck she is doing. She tells you lies, the business office lies and the nurses lie. This place is a joke. I should be glad my sister was not accepted into this place. The state should shut it down. Run...don't go to this place or you'll regret placing your loved one in here.
Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend this facility . The front desk didn't acknowledge I was there to see visit a love one. After I was acknowledged, the lady was extremely rude. Please stay with your love ones to ensure proper care. If not they are left alone in their rooms or the hallways.
Fantastic experience: My mom has received wonderful care here. She has been in rehab since February. She is happy and that’s what matters to me. The office has been more than generous and flexible. PT/OT go over and above to help my mom be the beat she can be. They are sweet and not mean and pushy. The nurses have been kind and competent. D hall has been a blessing and made this difficult time much better! Thank you Highland House!
Negative experience: I had my mother with Alzheimer there for only 5 days as part of my respite care provided by hospice. I showed the 2nd day to see how things were going and she was not given her medication (she seemed to be in bad pain) My mom is not verbal or mobile and they had her in an alternating air mattress that was broken. She was literally sinking in the middle because the alternating air mattress was deflating. I went the 3rd day and she was smelling bad and her mouth was not wiped at all. The 5th day she was returned home, they not only did not sent her back smelling bad as if they had not bath her the whole 5 days, but had a small sore in her diaper area--yes the diaper seem to have been there for a while, she had food outside her mouth, her teeth were not clean, and had a small sore inside her mouth. It was only 5 days, and I showed 2 of them and she was treated this way? Not recommending this place at all!!!
Fantastic experience: Highland House is a very nice facility! The staff are very helpful and attentive to residents needs. Very impressed!
Negative experience: Highland House Hospice is by far the worst hospice care I ever came from. The "nurses" here are awful and disrespectful. They seem to have little to no training at all. My grandma has been here for 5 days and I never seen her so miserable. I'm overjoyed tomorrow is her last day here. She was in pain because of her hemriod and when she used her alert tone it the nurse just about 5 minutes to respond that's ridiculous when her nurse only had about 3 occupied rooms and she wasn't caring for any of them at the moment. My grandma says she tries to have conversations with them but they just give her what she needs and just leave.. I never been so upset for her till now. If you're planning on bringing an elder family member here DONT. You'll be doing them a huge favor.
Negative experience: I highly recommend staying as far away from this place as possible. Unorganized is an understatement, they will tell you whatever they can to get you in the door, tell you everything is covered until the bills start coming in, then they say the person who told you it was covered didn’t have the authority to tell you that (even though she was the one signing the paperwork) and you owe a thousand dollars. Well, I went through a social worker, the administrators, and the front office telling me the first 20 days after a hospital stay was covered 100%, I made it known over and over that he had come from another rehab, and they assured me he was covered, well, he wasn’t, however what can you expect when they call to make a ‘care plan’ for my family member who at the time had been moved to his NEW facility for a week already, they couldn’t even coordinate to know he wasn’t there anymore. BEWARE this place
