Fantastic experience: I LOVE GOING TO SEE MY SISTER INLAW HERE. THE STAFF ARE SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL
Fantastic experience: Wow I was really impressed with this nursing home I just knew I was going to smell really bad. And I was wrong. I’m really glad my love one is here the staff there seems very friendly and caring the nurse at the front desk the one that checks you in she was very sweet and caring. That was very impressive. That really makes you feel really comfortable leaving them with caring peoples. And when you are very caring like that helps the patients want to fight and live to get better.
Fantastic experience: The staff at Briarwood is kind, compassionate and attentive. They have taken excellent care of my friend who is bed bound. He has been there for 2 weeks and the therapists have been wonderful to work with. They are patient and encouraging. Highly Recommend!
Negative experience: At first I thought this was the best place for my mother!! After living out of state her care has drastically changed, I cannot get a call to her! Even if I transfer to the nurse station instead of her room!! I can't get ahold of her caseworker to change it my phone numbers and it's very disheartening all the way around!!

Fantastic experience: I truly cannot say enough good things about the staff and the facility at Briarwood. They have been so wonderful and genuinely have treated my father with love and care. The facility is sparkling clean and everyone that I have met has been so kind. Five stars is not enough.
Fantastic experience: Upon arrival the receptionist was so kind and welcoming, she believes in the building she represents. It is clean and maintained inside and out. The staff greeted us as we walked by with a warm smile and hello. People were out and about and activities board seemed interesting to be apart of.
Fantastic experience: While visiting Mother Georgia Polk in Room 101, bed 2, She told me there is only 1 nurse who mistreats her due to racism. I told Georgia to document everything and what date and time it happens so it can be reported to the Authorities. This nurse refuses to help Georgia to get up and down—poses the threat of causing her to FALL!!! That could also be a big fat LAW SUIT. I am connected to the NAACP.

Fantastic experience: I recommend my dear friend to Briarwood for rehab after making community visits for my job. She loved it so much when she had her knee replacement she went back for her second. She had a very difficult time with her first knee replacement but you treated her so well she wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are kind, respectful and helpful. Great job!
Fantastic experience: Recently had my mom in here for rehab and the people are amazing. Not only do the nurses & aids have a good bedside manner but the therapists, social workers & administrative staff are very helpful and understanding. Between my mom & my mother-in-law, this is the 6th facility i have experienced. It is by far the best. It is clean, comfortable and has good food. I would definately reccomend bringing this place!

Fantastic experience: My mom is currently a resident and is on hospice care. The staff have all been AMAZING with giving information and answering questions. My mom is not coherent a lot, but she has expressed her happiness with being there and has thanked me numerous times for having her stay there. They have been providing excellent care with her. She is always clean and has been kept comfortable, they even allow her beloved dog to visit her!

Fantastic experience: It’s clean and the staff seems to be great. I have visited my sister there and she is quite pleased with her care. She is doing great! Thank you to all of the help there for taking good care of her.
Negative experience: Most of the staff were great. In the end the nurses didn’t check on my mom’s declining health and Dr. Ishaque was very negligent, non responsive to her health and well being and didn’t allow hospice care. Barely received any feedback or contact from him. My mom’s death was very traumatizing due to his decisions. No one contacted us after her death either. Very upsetting!!

Negative experience: Staff is fantastic, facility is clean, doctor in charge is a joke. My mother’s health declined very quickly, he didn’t check on her very often and while she was dying he declined the hospice care. My mother passed in the ambulance on the way to the hospital because of his negligence.

Positive experience: I only went inside one time to visit someone who is staying there for physical therapy after a surgery but it seems to be a nice place with a lot of medical professionals on staff and it’s very clean and the patient that I visited is very happy with the care and treatment that they have provided.

Fantastic experience: They really make u feel comfortable, they push u to do the therapy for your own good, really good therapy staff... new as of. 9-19 2023 , didn't get much medical stuff answered , but ok for now. Therapy helped as far as explaining their part .social worker helped, nursing care was good. Bound to be hiccups along the way. But everyone is very friendly
Fantastic experience: Everyone who I come in contact with at Briarwood are extremely nice and very helpful. I am the pastor of Benchmark Churches in Hartland and Fenton, Michigan. We have a wonderful little old lady came to us and had no other family as far as we could find. Unfortunately it got to the point for my wife and I just couldn't safely take care of her any longer. Between the people at Briarwood and our church family the process of finding Dorothy care and sustaining long-term care has been a wonderful experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Briarwood, from the front desk to everyone else in the back I have not had one reason to find any fault in the way they do things.
Negative experience: This is a horrible place! Never send your love one's here. The beds have no rails and that is a disaster waiting to happen. Why would a facility that has patients that are not ambulatory have beds without rails or other safety devices. People are not throw aways. My friend was doing fine before he got there. Shame on this facility and staff, whatever happened about caring for people.

Fantastic experience: Every time I come to visit my step daughter I can tell she is being extremely well taken care of at Briarwood. Everyone is very nice and professional. Great bedside manners there.
Negative experience: I have waited a few months to write this review . Between anger and tears I never can quite convey the emotions we have over this place. My mom my beloved mother broke her hip went to Genesys for surgery and then ended up Here. I just want to add something that many may not know . They changed the name to Promedica from Briarwood hoping we wouldn't remember the horrible care people received under the original name. My mom was 74 years old going on 50 and looked it as well. From the moment she got there it was all down hill from there. The second day in she contracted covid or so they say . They moved her to the covid unit. My mom was more healthy with covid than most without. Process of moving her her new coat was stolen within 3 minutes of my father going back to retrieve it! 3 minutes! She didn't get any food the first day and they missed feeding her several times due to SHE didn't tell them she wanted any! She slept in a bed no rails and a sink hole in the center of the bed that was abysmal. My mother had a horrific spinal injury of which they cared nothing about. She needed to use the bathroom and in the words of the unprofessional who answered the desk phone . "We would rather they go in their clothes or on the floor it's easier to clean"!. This is true . Verbatim. Her phone didn't work her toilet was broken and backed up with a mess that only God knows how long it had set there. The food was so bad my mother choked down what she could. She rang the buzzer countless times daily only to be ignored or have someone finally come hours later . Also she was so scared of the tech who took her blood pressure she called me terrified that she felt this person personally didn't like her . These are just a few of the gross negligences my mother experienced. The day they rushed her back to Genesys they had given her not one but two nitro pills ?? Her pacer had went off to set her heart back in rhythm and they were giving her nitro. Needless to say my mom spent the next 3 weeks dying. Yes. Dying..She developed what they call a bedsore which my medical friends claim was not! Her bone was literally showing through the wound which was huge! In the words of Henry Ford ..the next hospital she was transferred to. If only they would have paid attention to what was going on in her lungs and the wounds. She may still be here. I pray no one goes through what we have been through. I pray you never have to see or experience your loved one on a ventilator. With needles and tubes from the top to the bottom . Tears rolling down her face from the corner of her eyes. I know some may feel this is dramatic oh no it isn't I am actually being very kind . They that work there I pray you never have to go through or have a loved go through what my mother and countless others have went through at the hands of this place and those they employ. P.S read the reviews please before considering this place. If you love your loved ones. Do not send them here.
Positive experience: Staff is nice . Kinda of a laid back nursing home . But from what the lady says who lives here the food sucks . Need some help with taste and warmth. But all in all a safe nice place for your lov3d ones.
Fantastic experience: Love this place. They take good care of the patients and treat everyone with dignity and respect. They have adequate staff. It took a week to get my brothers food order correct but they did. Great activities too.
Negative experience: DO NOT CHOOSE THIS FACILITY OR SEND A LOVED ONE! Absolutely awful! If there was a worse star rating, they deserve it. Between no explanations to patients, lack of therapy and care and no communication with family, this place is horrible! They tried to send a patient needing oxygen 24 hrs a day home WITHOUT any oxygen expecting them to carry a walker and personal belongings up a flight of stairs. When I asked if they could order oxygen from a medical supply company before the patient was released, I was told it was too late in the day. They also had no solution for how the patient was supposed to get everything up the stairs alone. I was questioning whether they would make it up the stairs once without oxygen. There was no way multiple trips up and down was an option. The facility had over 4 days to prepare for this discharge! Somehow they miraculously found a portable oxygen tank within an hour after I told them they were being negligent. Imagine what happens to other patients who don’t have advocates.
Fantastic experience: This is a very PEACEFUL facility! The staff is INCREDIBLE and the fact that it is the only place I have ever heard my Grandad say he wanted to go besides work, home, or church speaks VOLUMES to me. I felt SUCH a relief when I heard he was being discharged HERE because I knew he would be in the BEST hands. Thank you to the staff for all you do! Michael J. Wilson
Positive experience: I was in Briarwood in April. The whole staff was wonderful... the nurses, aids and housekeeping were amazing and l can't say enough about the care they gave me. The food was the worst of the worst l could ever imagine! A friend of mine was there a couple months later.... the first thing she said to our other friend was... the food is terrible.
Fantastic experience: I have a very close friend that went into Briarwood a few months ago. I was a little skeptical at first not to mention my friend was not real happy about being there. I respect Briarwood due to the fact that the staff still respects my friend whether he is rude or not. Yes he can be very rude. He's eating well and he's become very content there. Matter of fact I was there today to take him out for a little bit for the first time. He made a decision to stay and do it another day. I was disappointed but then it became more of a relief to know he was that comfortable there. No complaints .

Fantastic experience: My friend Tina recently received wonderful care at this facility. She spent several weeks recuperating from hip surgery, and she described the staff as very responsive and caring. She's in her 70s, and she told me that this is the best she has ever been treated in a care facility. I'm so grateful that my friend had such an empathetic and professional staff taking care of her!

Negative experience: Awful place Horrid nurses My mom was there for almost two months she didn’t learn ANY of the physical therapy she needed. When I went to visit the nurses were always rude to her bc she couldn’t stand to go to the bathroom but she couldn’t stand due to the fact she can’t walk and had no therapy to learn how too with a walker I can say so much more But I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone ever

Negative experience: They tried to give me an iv that wasn't mine and argued with me when I told her it was not mine. I had mine in the am. One night I didn't get supper because they said I didn't turn my sheet in...wrong. Then they brought me a cold cheese sandwich. Daughter called and raised hell, then she brought me food. The physical rehab is a joke. I get more exercise going up and down my stairs to do laundry. The bed was terrible. It had an indent in the mattress where all the butts before me laid. I took extra blankets and filled the hole. I asked for a different mattress but I never got it.

Negative experience: This is the worst experience ever. My brother in law went in after being in critical care unit. Within days he is back in the hospital. There are some exceptional people there but overall the care was awful. The nurses did not pay attention when we said he was having problems. He developed diarrhea and thrush but no one paid attention. He stopped eating and they blamed it on him. They said they would take his blood pressure and then disappeared for well over an hour. Finally, a tech arrived and helped him to the bathroom and saw he was in distress. She took his blood pressure and found he was 70 over 30. At that point, rather than give him an IV while they waited, they called an ambulance and did nothing. Never never never will I allow someone I care for be sentenced to this kind of care. Never, never.

Fantastic experience: Robert was a patient there for 15 days and the staff was excellent Front desk was so helpful in getting info Nursing was awesome always there went way above and beyond there cleaning crew was always cleaning Therapy people work excellent with him And the rest of there staff was excellent also definitely in the future if he needs that type of medical help again will return to the facility thank you for all your help

Fantastic experience: I have a very close friend/family member that has been placed in this facility... They came from another facility that the care was very poor... Briarwood staff is excellent with the care that is needed for her needs... Carla went above and beyond what was expected of her and for that I'm truly grateful...I would recommend this facility to others...

Fantastic experience: I'm so one that is grateful for the staff at Briarwood. My father was sent there after a long stay in the hospital. I witnessed a staff that went above to call of duty, to assist my father and family as they work to provide support, care and was very attentive to the needs of my father and family. Fantastic experience: My mother who is 93 yrs old was sent to Promedica/ Briarwood for rehabilitation. She was there for 3 weeks and received excellent care. The staff were so friendly and answered any questions or concerns we had in regards to our mother. My sincere thanks to the wonderful staff and service she received.

Negative experience: My father came here after a major surgery on his foot. I have multiple complaints.... 1. He had a heart attack while on the phone with my mother. He pushed the call button multiple times, and shouted for a nurse and for help, and no one came for 15 minutes. 2. After this incident they turned his ringer off on his phone. now no one could reach him by phoning in. 3. Said overreacted foot became badly infected, and he had to have his leg amputated. They did nothing when the infection started and nothing until it was too late. 4. Now after surgery removing his leg, the hospital found a massive hole in his other foot - a giant bed sore for he had to get surgery on . They did no type of care to prevent sores. 5. He didn't eat for over two weeks here, and the staff didn't even try to feed him or report it to the family.

Fantastic experience: Although it has been a while ago, I felt like it was important to submit a post. One of my dear family friends, another godmother to me, chose Heartland Health Care Center-Briarwood for her hospice care. I work in healthcare, at all different times - and the staff was always cordial and receptive in permitting me to see her. I was pleased with her care; more importantly, she was pleased. More relevant currently, I have learned through my work, just how responsive the staff and management are - a culture of dependability, trust, accessibility and transparency! Positive experience: I was here Feb. of 2020 ,when I got there I was bed ridden catheter,bedpan the whole package, Staff was very accommodating ,food could have been better. The physical therapy dept.was just great they got me up and walking in no time I so much wish I could remember their names, I really owe them alot I did not want to go to the therapy room on several days so they brought it to me ,anyway Thank You to the entire staff

Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff in Hallway #5. Nurses, Aides, Custodians & PTs/OTs and everyone else including administrators. After fracturing my leg and not able to weight bear for 3 months they were compassionate/comforting to me to accept my situation and were my cheerleaders when I progressed in strength to take care of myself at home until I am able to walk again. It was my first time to go thru something like this and I was very nervous especially during Covid-19, but they made it easier for me and after spending 6 weeks with them they became special to me.

Fantastic experience: My mom had a terrible fall just before the holidays, and after surgery came to Briarwood for rehab. It was really hard, because I wasn't able to see her due to COVID-19 restrictions - but the staff were welcoming and kind. They took excellent care of my mom; compassionate, kind, upbeat and encouraging. The social worker was so helpful - and even took time to help me with something after she had been discharged. My mom is home now, and we are grateful for the care and attention she received.

Negative experience: So disappointed with the care of my dad here. He's got a bed sore already and has laid in dirty sheets. Was told they didn't have any clean ones to put on his bed. So disgusted, trying to move him out and it is taking them a week to do that. I feel they are in it for the money and not the patient. He actually cried.

Positive experience: I was at this place over a year ago they are very clean & some of the staff are very nice I went there after I couldn't stand know they work with me with my goals to stand on my own also to walk on my on.after a long journey i the short time of my stay they really work with me.to the point I couldn't stand on my own.

Negative experience: My uncle was in this care center and was supposed to have a cream put on 3 times a day which was never done and constantly is pushing his button to alarm some one and they never come to he ends up screaming until someone helps

Negative experience: Patients and Family Beware. My grandfather was recently a patient at this facility, the level of care was sickening. He was sent there for rehabilitation after a short hospital stay. The end result was recommended that he be sent back home, discontinue medications, treatments and start Hospice Care. Within 2 days of being released from thier facility he was back up walking with his walker and eating solid food. My Grandfather had a large Sterling Silver Chain with a Cross w/ the Lord's Prayer inscribed that "Went Missing" while in thier care also. I have excalated this through thier corporate also and have recieved 0% cooperation. If you love your elderly please DO NOT send them here.
Fantastic experience: My great-grandmother had an excellent stay at Briarwood! The staff was always very friendly and attentive. The food was okay, definitely not "home cooked" like she was used to but edible none the less. She loved going to the dining room for meals and playing Bingo with the other patients there. The therapy staff were absolutely amazing and got her back on her feet in 2 weeks. She still brags about how well she was treated there. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: My cousin was here a few years ago and the staff was wonderful. They really care about there residents. I have worked at 2 other homes and none of them can level up to Briarwood.

Fantastic experience: Briarwood is a place we personally chose over 2 or 3 that were actually even closer. The care and attention they give their patients is definitely excellent. The nurses and aides were attentive and listened very well. Pretty much every concern we had that came up was resolved pretty quickly. The rehab staff did a great job making sure she was ready to come home. Pretty much the entire staff made the stay almost like a vacation (if not for the hospital part beforehand of course :)) She is definitely getting around probably better then before all this started!

Positive experience: This place isn't horrible. My mom went there many times over the years. The food is hit or miss. They need to cook home cooked meals, and not serve processed food. The staff is nice. If your loved one is there, watch over them. A lot of times this place is understaffed.

Fantastic experience: A few of my family members where on station c. The 1st shift nurses on station c are the best. A+ care.
Negative experience: We sent my Grandmother to Briarwood because she has cancer, and was in the hospital for 2 weeks and was very very weak. In the rooms, it is very small already, even before they put a curtain in between and called it two rooms. My grandmother got a very bad case of the flu from the place, and she is back in the hospital. Only once did they do therapy, and my Grandma said it was extremely painful. If you care about your family while reading these reviews, please don't put you're loved ones here!
Negative experience: You were absolutely horrible to my mom. If you are going to be in home care profession you first must have compassion for the people you are caring for. I saw none except for a girl named niece. I did homecare for 8 years. And I was appauled at the care you gave my mom Patricia she had bedsores from the hospital. Was never repositioned. To keep her off of the bad area her hair was not washed once. Tape was embedded in her hair for some time. My mother passed away today. And my family owes you no thanks for anything. You girls seem to be more. Concerned with your hair your nails and your appearance I think you need a new profession. Maybe in the fashion world. Shame on all of you. Thanks for nothing. Lisa wolfe
Lisa, we are sorry for your loss and the negative experience you had with your mother's care. However, we only provide in-patient care at our skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. It sounds like this review was meant for a local home health care agency.
Negative experience: I was there visiting a friend and not 1 person stopped in his room in the 3 and a half hours I was there. I ask the staff if they could get my friend a cup of tea and they said they cannot get in the dining area and I said so he has been sitting here in a wheelchair for 5 hrs and cannot get something to drink they said not until dinner remind you this was almost 6:30 and I seen no sign of dinner yet. He ask if they could get him some bedding seeing they took his around 2 pm and the lady said let me see if laundry is done.What you don't have spare bedding there. And the kicker to it all is he is on blood thinners he was shivering like an ice cube in some little gown they give you and the damn heat was off and not one damn person there ask if he was ok. I would say if you want to send your family there to die then this is the place for you
Fantastic experience: My grandfather was sent to Briarwood after surgery. The staff greeted us at the door. We were shown to his room and the manager answered all our questions. We were also given a tour of the facility. During his stay the doctors, nurses, and aides were very attentive. He also enjoyed the food and some activities. My grandfather ended up losing his battle and passed away. The staff was very professional in handling the situation. I would like to thank everyone at Briarwood.
