Fantastic experience: I've had multiple surgeries and have gone to many different Physical Therapists. The entire staff here is far and above any place I've been. Whether in the pool or out, they are precision with everything they do for me. I already feel it working after only three visits, and find myself looking forward to the next visit. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: The staff at the Physical Therapy Specialties are wonderful! They were so caring and kind. They really listened to me as I explained my injury. I had a frozen shoulder causing me alot of pain. I had been to a chiropractor and a doctor. No one could seem to help me. But Physical Therapy Specialties knew just what to do. First, they did a complete evaluation. They gave me treatment to ease the pain enough to where we could begin doing some exercises that I could continue doing at home. After a few visits at the Pleasanton location, I started going to the San Ramon location which was closer to my job. Physical Therapy Specialties helped me gain 100% movement back and no surgery was needed at all!

Fantastic experience: I just finished Lumbar Spine Fusion surgery last year. In order to complete my post-op recovery, I had to do physical therapy, so I found Valley PT Specialties SHAHRIN SHMAD on the Internet. She is a very knowledgeable professional in this area. Under her guidance for two months, I can now walk and go hiking without pain and feel so much better.

Fantastic experience: I went there and in the beginning I couldn’t even take my clothes off it would hurt so much. I had so much pain I couldn’t even sleep well. But ever since I came here it has helped me VERY much. Now my arms feel flexible and not tight anymore. This is amazing I totally recommend, it has definitely helped me a lot.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Physical Therapy Specialists for over 6 years on and off. The staff is friendly, and very professional. They have helped me through 10 ankle surgeries, 2 shoulder surgeries , an elbow surgery, and a knee surgery. I will be going back in a while because of a back surgery I am having. Nothing has fazed them in all my injuries, they are always ready to help. I have worked with 7 or 8 different therapists in my time with them and all have been great. I would gladly recommend them to anyone who needs Physical Therapy.

Fantastic experience: I went to Valley PT Specialties with much pain following surgery. My PT, Ankita Shah has relentlessly worked on relieving this pain with wonderful success. Fantastic experience: This was my first time doing PT and it was a really nice experience! The staff is very friendly and attentive, and my therapist Ankita readily answered any questions I had. After doing the exercises regularly along with appointments for a few weeks, the changes were definitely noticeable. Would recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: When I first came to Physical Therapy I was skeptical if this could really work for me and my problem with my SI joints. But I was in a lot of pain and thought I would give it a try. My therapist was Ankita and she knew exactly what was going on and had no doubt she could help me. I saw her 2 x week and I saw improvement with each session. I did the exercises at home everyday and never missed my appointment. I feel so much better and I know I learned a few things from Ankita and the mechanics of the body. Ankita was great and everyone on staff are friendly and helpful! Great place to come for any of your PT needs.

Fantastic experience: I was refered to Physical Therapy Specialties by my Doctor because of sports related injuries to my shoulders. It has been a great experience. Ankita has taken a lot of care to give me a personalized thearapy program that has really helped my shoulders to become much stronger. The pain in my shoulders is almost gone and I have been able to rock climb again.

Fantastic experience: Kudos to Ankita Shah! I had a chronically injured ankle, had several cortisone shots, spent weeks in a boot and my doctor had recommended surgery. I could no longer run and walking was painful. But before surgery, on a recommendation of a friend, I called Physical Therapy Specialties. After a few weeks of working with Ankita I have gone from zero miles of running to now 5 miles and pain free. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve experienced many PT sessions in my life and they did nothing to ease my pain. I have recently began using physical therapy specialists. I am telling you the absolute truth‼️After the first appointment was over I definitely felt relief. I highly recommend Pleasanton Physical Therapy Specialists. I know you will not be disappointed!!

Negative experience: BEWARE!!! When I was asked to make more appointments for my physical therapy at Physical Therapy Specialties in Pleasanton, I told them I had to check with my insurance to make sure these extra appointments would be covered. They told me they would do that for me. The next day they called me and told me they spoke to my insurance and I had 4 more appointments. They urged me to schedule them. I told them as long as I didn’t get a bill for any out of pocket expenses. They assured me I would not. 3 months after the last appointment, I get a bill for $340.00! They told me there was nothing they could do about it and the amount was my responsibility to pay!! Bad business!

Fantastic experience: Great PT location! Their staff is awesome and the warm therapy pool is literally "just what the doctor ordered". I badly broke my ankle at the end of February. After months in a boot and 3 surgeries, PT was absolutely needed. The pool and land PT helped so much. I was not only able to get strength back in my ankle, I was able to "fix" my gait which took a lot of pressure off my back too. Highly highly recommend PT Specialties, especially Ida, Dina, and Catherine.

Fantastic experience: In January, I didn’t think I could ever walk normally again. I had trouble putting on socks as couldn’t get my leg in the right position. I visited my orthopedic doctor and a cortisone shot was all they could offer; didn’t help. Tried some PT in Feb and felt worse. Went back to orthopedic in March and X-rays were taken, another shot, and suggestion of PT. With reluctance given no relief with earlier try, I made an appointment at Physical Therapy Specialties. The moon and stars were aligned for me as my appointment was with the owner, Ida. After evaluation, she suggested she use something called the “Mulligan Concept”. I had some relief with the first visit! I am very pleased to share by about the 5th week, the pain was almost completely gone. I am thrilled to be able to easily walk again and put on my own socks. I highly recommend Physical Therapy Specialties and continue to use their open pool for aquatic physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: Physical therapy specialties is fantastic, I worked primarily with Mike and Shahrin however the support staff are excellent as well. I showed up with plantar fasciitis and was impressed with how they not only treated my injury but also treated me as a person. Shahrin noticed my whole lower right side was weak. Rather than focus on treating just the plantar fasciitis she explained how the leg muscles work in tandem and gave me additional exercises for my legs and hips. She also gave me the push and encouragement to join a gym and begin a strength training regimen so I can prevent future injury. Shahrin has a great personality - she is always upbeat and easy to talk to. The whole place is really well run and highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Thank you PTS and I want to especially thank Kristina. She might be petite but she is mighty and very knowledgeable. I had a neck problem that was progressively getting worse for nearly two years. She was able to dig in there with her strong hands, fingers, palms, elbows, devices, skeletal knowledge and exercises to manipulate my neck, which was slowly losing its range back into shape. I have full range once again and I am absolutely happy! Thanks again Kristina and Physical Therapy Specialties.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this place! I had many long standing issues resolved by them, and it was worth the drive. Their strengths are: 1) They really want you to get well, permanently well, even if that takes a while especially with issues that have become chronic. Whereas some other P.T. offices just want you to be done as quickly as possible, they stick with you. Joints that have not been functioning properly for years, muscles that have lost all strength, that takes many months to rebuild the strength and make sure it holds without sliding back within months after finishing P.T. 2) They do hands-on work. Not everything can be resolved by just a few exercises. There are so many different tools and approaches for treatment, but it needs a P.T. who is knowledgeable and willing to work on your body. 3) One session normally is half an hour with the P.T., and then more time with an aid for doing exercises, applying stimulation or heat, and so on. 4) It it does not work they do not blame the patient, they help you figure out the next step. They also refer you to their colleagues, or to treatment outside. My only regret? I wished I would have found them years earlier.

Fantastic experience: Physical Therapy Specialties is doing a fantastic job working with me on my ACL replacement recovery and other related challenges. Ida’s extensive assessment and recmmendations helped from day one. Caitlyn and Dina are fantastic working as a team I appreciate how closely they collaborate and ajust the treatment to identify and address underlying issues that were not readily aparent. The incorporation of pilates reformer along with traditional exercises has beenvery helpful in strength and stretching.

Negative experience: This place is very iffy. You might be assigned someone competent, or you might be assigned someone who is not. My first assignment was to a very young therapist who is completely incompetent, who did not listen to what I had to say or read the materials I brought (which were important in my case), who recommended exercises which might very well have injured me, and who then tried to get rid of me. It took two tries to get reassigned. I gave them one more shot, and they found someone good. But you probably shouldn't rely on luck where your health is concerned. The facility is overcrowded; everyone is way too busy. The impression I got is that this place is set up to maximize income for the owner, who I assume is Ida Hirst. Everyone says that Ms. Hirst is a good physical therapist, but you won't see her, you will probably see some unsupervised new hire. If you're lucky you might get good treatment. If not, not. If I had it to do over I'd go somewhere else. Update, January 13 Ida Hirst (who seems like a very nice person) and I did have a conversation, during which she made it clear that she would prefer that I go somewhere else (although actually I was pretty happy with the therapist I ended up with). I suspect that this negative review had something to do with that. Ms. Hirst also explained something about the economics of the practice, which sort of added up to, we really cannot give you (or anyone else I guess) a lot of individual attention. I've had PT elsewhere and I know this is not true, but I think this is the way she is running this practice. Of course she is well within her rights. (In some ways it was an odd, Alice-in-Wonderland conversation. For example. Her scheduling person told me (in writing!) that there had been a better therapist for me in the first instance, but I got the one I did because, "she had more time free." Ms. Hirst told me that therapists are ALWAYS assigned according to which therapist is the best for the patient. ... ) Of course I'm leaving. Whatever her motivations, this is probably the right answer. My case is somewhat unusual. You might be happier here if you had a more plain-vanilla situation. Many people have had good experiences here, according to the other reviews. I'm sorry to go on and on. I'm trying to be fair. Just be wary is my advice.

Fantastic experience: Helped me get back to karate competition. I went a few years back after some unsuccessful attempt to rehab my knee after surgery when I lived in Los Angeles. To get back to doing everything in karate, I knew I needed to find and stick with a great PT program. Stephen helped me with fundamentals and Dina pushed me to where I needed to me. Last year I tore my calf muscle and went back and Joann helped me through my recovery and I'm fine now. I highly recommend them. Please make sure to keep open communications with your therapist and keep giving them feedback.

Positive experience: Had a pretty good experience with Physical Therapy Specialties. The staff is very professional and friendly. Help me a lot with my problem. All appointments happened just on time. Lisa Herrera is an amazing specialist and person.

Fantastic experience: I had to write a review and I never do. I've been dealing with neck pain for 8 months that has spread to my shoulders and made me fingers go numb. I've seen multiple PTs and IDA had changed my life in just one hour. After one session last night I got the best sleep ever and pain free. I havent slept like that since before my neck injury 8 months ago. She seriously has magic fingers and she found my problem within 5 minutes.Im not saying im completly fixed now but im happy the pain is temporarily gone for now. I know if i continued to see her then id probably be fixed. The Only thing that sucks is she's extremely packed with clients and only takes private ones so I won't be able to have her again. But this rating is for her. She's amazing!

Negative experience: I have mixed feeling about Physical Therapy Specialties. The staff taking care of my health were ok although I had to change therapists at every sessions (a lot of the staff are not working every days). Now 4 months later, I thought that I would not have to deal with them again. I am told by my insurance that their billing department is not answering their question. I went on site, called 3 times, left voicemails. Nobody is interesting in returning phone calls, getting back to me or to my heatlh insurance. Do they want to get paid? Any interest in returning business or good recommendations? ...Nope. Disappointing!
