Fantastic experience: It is a wonderful facility. The therapists who worked with me were skilled, kind, and encouraging; the nursing staff were as well. The facility was and grounds were clean and well maintained.

Fantastic experience: I’m so happy that I picked this rehab. The doctor Dr kahn was so caring and took the time to listen to me. All the nurses were outstanding as well i loved them all.

Fantastic experience: Encompass was highly recommended and they certainly lived up to that. Everyone was very friendly, professional and outgoing. They informed our family of everything that was happening and why. My mother went in after being hospitalized for blood clots in her lungs she couldn't even take one step but after being at Encompass for a week she walked out of there. The doctors gave us answers they were very attentive. I felt very comfortable leaving my mother at night knowing she was in good hands.

Fantastic experience: Sometimes life throws you a curve-ball that you can't hit; you need help - I really needed help. Something happened during that caused me to loose my sense of balance. These wonderful people accepted me, cared for me, and set me in the path to recovery. I have never received better care anywhere. The staff was absolutely wonderful, from maintenance to medical, they are all to-notch. The nursing staff is especially caring. It's almost like have your mom there to nurture you. I can highly recommend this facility and this magnificent staff if your need require this level of care. It's too bad the scale only goes to 5 - they deserve a solid 10!

Fantastic experience: Loved this place

Negative experience: It's clean. I'll give it that. But severely understaffed for the level of care they take on. My relative had fluid build up in his lungs and a nasty cough, which they ignored. He had fluid build up in/around his lungs from a heart problem. By the time they sent him back to the hospital, he was hospitalized for a month. Some of the docs even took his oxygen away because they thought he was being a hypochondriac.

Negative experience: My brother was a patient here for about 3 to 4 weeks. He was paralyzed on one side. The care he was given was horrible left in a dirty diaper for hours. Our case manager, Ariana was not helpful at all. Whenever we called. She would not return our call. We would be there visiting our brother every day and asked the nurses to have her come and see us. She would not even do that. I was applying for guardianship on my brother and I needed a lot of medical records from this facility and a letter from the doctor and she made me wait for days and days before I had to go to her boss and complain to get this paperwork. I biggest complaint is the person who should’ve been helping us the case manager Ariana was incompetent and doing her job

Fantastic experience: The finest rehab I’ve ever seen. After recovering from a fall, they took me from bedridden to full motion using a walker. Kindness unlimited from the nursing staff, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, case management, pharmacy and constant assistance with specific food allergy (allergic to pepper). The facility is very clean and the staff well trained. I was there for 10 days following a month long stay in a hospital. I’d highly recommend Encompass (Valley of the Sun) in Glendale AZ

Negative experience: Do you really have to call the main number and have the phone ring 43 times and never have anyone answer the phone?

Fantastic experience: I’m was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident and spent my first 3 days at banner thunderbird (hit or miss when it came to staff). I was approved for physical rehabilitation here at encompass, tomorrow will be day 3 and I could not be happier with the quality of care. They listen to everything you say, they take you seriously, while also creating a productive and result yielding schedule. I’m sure I’ll be here another week but I don’t dread this experience whatsoever. The staff here are incredible and deserve recognition. Thank you guys truly, for such awesome care.

Positive experience: My Mom was just admitted this evening, and we hoping for a better experience starting tomorrow. The nursing assistant was listening and I had to be firm to get her to listen on my Mom's ability to transfer. The nurse said multiple times how she had other patients, and now my poor mama is messaging me telling me how the staff is all stressed out. Update: The day after and since everyone has been great, and Mom has had a good experience. Even the team members from the first evening have been compassionate. My suggestion would be that they may need an admission nurse or additional resources in the evening when getting admissions.

Fantastic experience: I was a patient mid to late October 2023. I have to say this place is amazing. Each and every person from the Dr's to the maintenance staff care about the patients of the facility. The care and coordination between the different departments was seamless. The PT and OT folks pushed me when I needed that extra boost and slowed me down when I was in danger of hurting myself. This is the kind of place that if you go in with the attitude of making everyday count so you can get home sooner, then you will! I am so grateful for the people who took care of me. If I ever need this type of recovery again, this is the place I want to come back to.

Fantastic experience: My husband was in Encompass for about two weeks following a quadruple bypass. The staff were wonderful in every way and made his stay comfortable and pleasant, as well as productive. He had occupational therapy that helped him adapt to doing everyday things in a way that wouldn’t hurt his healing chest, and physical therapy to get him back in pre-surgery condition, as well as strengthening muscles he’d use to compensate for one’s he can’t use yet. The food was great and the facility is very clean and well run. As a daily visitor, I felt welcome and comfortable.

Fantastic experience: Daughter is here after 23 days in ICU. Very nice facility, good people, very helpful and understanding.

Fantastic experience: I spent time there a while back and it was awesome and it really helped me get back on my feet literally. I have to relearn how to walk. I would happily recommend this facility to anyone.

Negative experience: My father was sent here to recover physically from his strokes. He was on a tube feed from the hospital. Somehow in their care his tube started bleeding really bad. He was sent back to the hospital a few days later after it had already been bleeding for a couple days. This place never notified emergency contacts when he was sent and I didn't know he was sent until the next morning when I found his name was erased from their board and an empty room. You can imagine how I felt. He had to stop the blood thinners because of the injury to his stomach that wasn't treated right away, which could have possibly been prevented if taken care of earlier. He died a few days later in the hospital after undergoing a blood transfusion. His heart gave out. This all happened last year and I hold this place accountable for their negligence to him and his family.

Fantastic experience: My husband stayed here after having a stroke. The place is clean, there is always staff nearby. There is a lovely courtyard to go enjoy the sun. I have been in facilities that had strange and not pleasant smells. Encompass Health was lovely, clean, and pleasant staff.

Fantastic experience: Last year after a traumatic car accident didn't even know if I was ever gonna walk again I came here on the advice of my physician and not only am I walking I'm doing really well this place is amazing the people in it are amazing the food is great and I couldn't have asked for a better place. They taught me skills that I wasn't sure I was going to need but I'm really glad they did they also familiarized to me with all the handicapped equipment I would need and if it wasn't for this place I would be in a real pickle right now. They made a huge difference in my life. I was in the mesa facility. But I met a wonderful physician who works here. So intuitive!

Fantastic experience: I cannot adequately express how much my family and I appreciate Encompass Valley of the Sun. My father had been through a long, excruciating, and traumatizing experience before coming here. Beginning with the admitting staff, they listened and showed the kind of empathy and professionalism that is rare these days. The nurses and CNA's genuinely put their hearts and souls into my father's care, and ensured my mother's needs as his caregiver were met. Each and every one of them did so with kindness. All disciplines of physical therapy are knowledgeable and talented. The respiratory therapists are amazing and the doctors showed genuine concern, assessed him often, and made themselves available for questions. Lisa, the dietician is a godsend. When we had questions or experienced some miscommunication, the leadership was responsive and decisive. They were nice and very kind. Their professionalism and empathy eased 5 months of unimaginable stress that my mother had experienced from other facilities. For this, I am truly grateful. They likely have no idea how much of a positive impact they had on my family. This is a place that has earned their reputation. These are people that you want taking care of your loved one.

Negative experience: Today is the first anniversary of my husband's death. He was recovering from a minor stroke and was having blood pressure issues. He was supposed to be in rehab for three-to-five days. He was allowed to do nothing but sleep. When I questioned the doctor about nothing being done for him, I was told that he had had a stoke and needed his rest. He was taken off his Trulicity because his blood was too thick. In order to give him the Trulicity, which would have helped avoid a stroke, he needed to have blood drawn. I was told they did not have the ability to do that procedure. As far as I know, nothing was done to thin his blood. I told the doctor that they were just letting him die. He died the next day from a massive stoke.

Fantastic experience: I had my rehabilitation as a patient here for 12 days after suffering a stroke and I can’t say enough positive things about Encompass Health Valley of the Sun!! The nurses, nurse techs, occupational therapists, physical therapists, doctors, speech and language therapists and case managers care about you and your recovery! They go the extra mile to help you achieve your goals and give you the skills you need to be successful when you return home. Their promise to you is comfort, professionalism and respect, every person who works here are committed to these and and so much more. Thanks you Encompass Health Valley of the Sun for everything!!

Fantastic experience: If I could give 100 stars I would. Encompass is absolutely amazing. From the nurses, techs, Doctors, and therapist all working together with compassion, understanding, commitment to patients. My mother loved this place and was treated with respect and cared for at an unbelievable level. Thank you so much for giving her her life back. I recommend Encompass for anybody who needs care at this level. Amazing place! And great food as well!

This has been the best facility that I have ever worked in, in my 3 years of being a CNA! The staff from the nurses, the techs, managent, etc have all been wonderful! I am really going to miss everyone here, literally I have met friends, memories, and moments that I will cherish in my heart forever. If you need to bring your loved one here, please do! This wonderful hospital will treat you with kindness, respect, and even go above and beyond for whatever you and your loved one needs! We will rehabilitate your loved ones back to success! Negative experience: My mother was a patient there a few weeks ago. She was discharged and we are currently dealing with her condition. We called today for guidance since her conditions have had side effects that we don’t know would be taken care at the ER for, and the lady at the front desk today WAS SO DISMISSIVE and lacked empathy. She said “sorry we can’t help you.” What the hell is wrong with you? You ma’am should not be in health care. I would not trust a hair on my mom with you. Disgusting. I called back again and the gentleman was able to handle this much better. He suggested, even though he could not give us any advice, suggested following up with the ER. Unlike the horrible woman, how can you sleep at night?

Fantastic experience: I am a retired registered nurse and I did some Rehabilitation nursing many years ago at a Health South Hospital in Largo, Florida. I also have two children who are Occupational Health Therapy practitioners. I feel I have a legitimate background to give this review. I fractured my left femur, due to a fall on October 3rd. I had the femur repaired on October 4th and transferred to Encompass Rehabilitation the evening of October 6th. My first therapy was at 9:00 am on October 7th. After general instructions from the Physical Therapist, I took my first tentative steps. After walking a foot or two, she gave me the biggest “Woo Hoo!” That encouragement set the stage for my entire stay at Encompass. Day after day, OT and PT gave me the most thorough program to continue to gain strength and mobility. It was truly awe inspiring. Each day when I returned to my room, I had the most positive and caring nurses to assess my pain and discomfort and care for my surgical site. And, to support all of that, the food was outstanding and nutritious. The entire facility was immaculately clean with the maintenance staff constantly checking on cleanliness and equipment safety and functionality. I wish to thank the entire staff for the excellent care I received. I feel as though I was at an exclusive spa retreat where I gained physical health as well as emotional health. I will forever be in your debt. Fantastic experience: Encompass health valley of the sun was phenomenal. Nurses, Techs, Physical, Occupational and Speech therapist along with the excellent Dr's were exactly what I needed to begin the path of healing after a stroke. I am now capable of doing many things that I didn't think would be possible after the stroke. I am now on a path of full recovery. Encompass Health is not a baby sitter, its intensive physical and occupational therapy. I am much better overall because I had inpatient rehabilitation at Encompass Health Valley of the Sun. I'd recommend this place to everybody. If you want to work to improve your health this is the place to be.

Positive experience: I rehabbed at this facility in 2018 after a stroke which affected my left side the car and attention of the team of staff were really caring and helpful. The facility offers a relaxing and personable environment. I really appreciate the team of therapist!

Fantastic experience: If you have any grandparents or your parents that need to rehab if their insurance will accept them here at this place I would recommend they took very very very good care of my father I was very pleased with the way they did the rehab how they explained everything very very pleased. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤❤❤❤

Fantastic experience: I am thrilled by the way they took care of my 76 year old mother. She was dealing with ephasia and was weak from her first chemotherapy treatment. They work as a team Occupational, Physical and Speech therapy for a total of 3 hours per day. She has done a complete 180 from when she was first admitted into their facility. Keep up the amazing work!

Negative experience: Alex A is the laziest and most confused case manager you can have. She certainly is not an advocate for the patient or family! The nursing staff take greater than 10 minutes to answer call lights( even when they're sitting in the hallways on their cell phones) PT,OT, and Speech are amazing here. If you can keep the others from harming your loved one!

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed the kindness not only to my daughter but myself. Everything was explained in detail. I love how they push for you to be comfortable and treat it more like a home dressed in your own clothes and dining together. Looking forward to meeting her outside with the kiddos. Thank you

Fantastic experience: I know my whole family shares my feelings on this. Encompass health you were amazing, you exceeded our expectations and you were where our mom needed to be when she broke her femur. There was not one nurse door one aid that disappointed as you all are amazing.

Negative experience: If I could I would leave 0 stars! My mom was there for rehab. Started out ok and then went downhill from there. Started off that her personal was coming up missing. Then they decided to move rooms on her in the middle of the night. No phone call to family to make them aware of her being moved. When I went up the next day I walked passed several employees who could let me know she had been moved nothing was said. I find my mom and I am trying to figure out why she seemed even more confused than usual and that’s when they decided to let me know they woke her up and moved her into a different room. Now we are on week 2 that we took my mom out of this place and I can’t seem to get anywhere about her personal stuff coming up missing. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic experience: We had to sign my mother out Against Medical Advise from another facility and highly recommended to this facility. My mother was recovering post knee surgery and this place is a blessing. The professionalism, patient care, customer service and the facility were all beyond a 5 star rating. I left every night knowing my mother was in good hands. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place if you care for your love ones.

Fantastic experience: One & only place I or my family will go for in / out rehab! It is clean, the care could not have been better! Every single worker had a smile & willing to help in any way! My grandpa is being well cared for!

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience. The staff was friendly, but that's the only positive. When I needed assistance very slow if any. Dr. Patel has terrible bedside manner and didn't care when I pleaded with him that I wasn't ready to be discharged. Jennifer the case manager didn't help either. All that mattered was my medicare didn't cover any more care. If you have a choice don't choose Encompass.

Positive experience: I reciever great care. My rehabiltation was extensive. The staff were professional and caring. The meals were served by food service workers that new almost everyone by name. My husband would come visit me and the staff new him by name or new he was my husband. Care counselor worked verry hard on my home equipment, handicapped temporary plate and FMLA paperwork. When I went home I felt ready for the new challenges ahead of me.

Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic! When my mom came here after back surgery gone wrong she couldn't even move her legs, when we left she could move both her legs and was walking with help and a lot of support. They were so kind and thoughtful, not only to my mom but also to me while I stayed with her. They're quick to respond, the food is good, and it's bright and clean inside. They were really a bright spot in a dark time for two Oregonians stuck in AZ after surgery.

I have been overly satisfied with the treatment she is receiving and the care the staff has provided her. This kind of situation can cause a lot of stress, but knowing you can count on a medical staff to provide proper support really helps in so many ways.

Negative experience: My dad was here and they dropped him on the floor and the nurses lied they didn't and they was right there when my dad says there was nobody around to help they have a room with a stocked fridge and at first they said to help ourselves to anything we'd want or my dad wanted then a nurse argued with my brother and said we drank and ate everything they had my brother said tell me what I took and I'll pay for it she said to never mind but the following day they put up a sign that says staff only everyone here is extremely racist and prejudice they told us that he needs his family for support for him to get through physical therapy but they would get mad whenever family came over and said for no one to visit after 8 pm and they even put up a sign that says it but now that my dad left they took the sign down there's flies in the dining room and they go allover the food this place is awful they said my dad would be walking by the time he left he's still not able to walk and to get him out of their hair they transferred him to another crappy run down rehabilitation center health south is not where you'd want to go if your a person of color

Negative experience: The physical therapy section of this facility needs to get their act together. I've waited two weeks for therapy and have had no success in getting seen. Every time we call them there is always another excuse. I have found a new therapy location that is getting me in immediately so I receive the help I need.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience! The entire staff, from medical to all auxiliary departments were excellent. I had suffered a broken hip at my place of employment. I doubt my recovery would have been as quick and successful were it not for this special place.

Fantastic experience: My brother Joe is there and the staff is absolutely incredible Bonnie Boyle the case manager is such an angel in helping you and guiding you and supporting you. If I ever need rehab this is the place i would like to be.
