Fantastic experience: I tore my acl and meniscus and i’m currently recovering post surgery but a lot of progress has been made from when I first started. I have Mindy helping me and she’s been making me better every week with improvement. I’ve been slowly able to do things I thought I would never do again or imagine doing. Fantastic experience: As a patient of various other rehabilitation companies, I cannot recommend The Center for Physical Rehabilitation highly enough! Most especially Anna Bennett, who has successfully treated both myself and my wife recently. Anna is kind and listens attentively to her patients, then puts a plan of action into place including exercises and hands-on rehab which is honestly better than I’ve ever received anywhere else. I've been doing physical therapy for 6+ years and have never had such great care! Fantastic experience: I had really bad Achilles tendon pain and after working with the team for a few weeks it started disappearing. Really great people working here who care about getting you feeling better.

More importantly, Pat provided follow up exercises and explained every step of what he was doing during our sessions to alleviate my leg/ankle pain. I was very impressed. And this downtown location is extremely convenient.

Fantastic experience: Excellent and friendly staff. After an injury caused by muscle imbalances that refused to heal on its own, Mindy has helped me take it from pain and weakness I would experience every day to a near 100% recovery. I like the emphasis on correcting the imbalances themselves and advice on home exercises .

Fantastic experience: Late 40s, injured at work, generally fit-ish with fitness industry experience. Pat is patient, attentive, and a good listener. After each and every appointment I felt better and no where near depleted. Pat prescribes just enough and no more. Each movement has a purpose. I really thought that this injury was going to be permanent. It’s gone. Pat has inspired me to get back into exercise again, focusing on basic, stabilizing exercises for functional movement. Pat’s professionalism, knowledge, and patient care are all excellent and I can’t recommend this facility enough (parking is even super easy). I didn’t work with Scott (the personal trainer on site) this time, but I have known him professionally in the past. He is the best trainer in the city in my opinion. He is the most talented and charismatic trainer I have ever met. If you need physical therapy consider this facility. You will leave better than you entered.

He has an ability to merge the body changes into an adventure to compete with myself for the victory in Healing. His Team creates an environment which inspires laughter in the hard work, together We are 3 times the travelTime since we moved easterly ~Oh, well… ~ his PT Teamwork & Cooperation seems fluid there. Fantastic experience: I suffered a CVA in 2009 and after an MRI then an MRA it was determined that a left thalamic infarction had occurred and parts of my circle of Willis were absent. I worked hard with Dr. VandenBerg of Spectrum towards correcting a supination of my right foot due to signal loss. This was unsuccessful and as time went on my left knee would swell after walking even short distances. Dr. Zeits suggested an MRI that revealed a contused distal femoral chondyl with fluid but no bakers cyst and an intact bursa possibly due to a gait irregularity. Additionally, after a water skiing injury in my youth Dr. Day had clipped the menisci of my right knee. Dr. Zeitz suggested I try a month or two of PT. My time at the 45 Ottowa location was exceptionally good. The treating Dr. was Patrick LaBlanc. Patrick assessed and suggested therapeutic remedies that benefited me greatly. His knowledge of anatomy and how my therapy would mesh with intermittent epidemiological painful cysts as well as my other health issues was par excellence. He was open minded, thorough, and most importantly efficient with time management and other patients as when in discomfort I tend to be loquacious. Dr. LaBlanc took it in stride and after two months of twice a week sessions I can now ambulate a mile plus getting me to the market, hospital, and occasionally a lottery ticket ( it only takes one to win). Inclines can still be an issue, usually greater than 40 degrees. I diligently practice the exercises to this day that strengthens my legs. So much so in fact that I had to figure how to overcome some friction abrasions that developed on my shins. My niece a world caliber swimmer via Oakland University and Catholic Central now at Wayne State studying medicine suggested beside my sweat pants I put my compression Sox on underneath as she had the experienced the same issues ( see photos). I had the pleasure of seeing Mindy Simon, Scott Hamilton and Tom Gustafson work and the way they differentiated with different patients needs and the positive patients responses always seemed transformational. Something I experienced as well. Trish at reception was a joy to work with on scheduling needs if they arose. Perfection only exists in God so my review would not be complete without some critical analysis. While in no reflection on Patrick, he tried three different techniques to get me doing the sit to stand exercise which I did twice daily at home but stopped after my failure to do it correctly and my back would would be effected in not a small way. I will return probably sometime next fall or winter to address this issue and perhaps some stretching covered on an UNUM policy I have in force above and beyond my Medicare part B. I can become verbose so just let me succinctly state that after experiences with what is now Corewell, helping my folks with their therapy and no small bit of input from the many family members practicing medicine, The Center For Physical Rehabilitation is by far the best experience I had. Now retired after a 30 year vocation in medical sales, even selling Spectrum through the VHA contract many of the orthopedic products they use, I would highly recommend Patrick, Mindy, Tom and Scott through The Center For Physical Therapy to anyone needing such treatment. And thank you for the ease of this review process. I struggle with platforms.

Fantastic experience: Friendly; Welcoming; Thoughtful; Understanding; Helpful; These are all things people often say about me, but it is also how I would describe the folks at the downtown office of The Center. They made me feel better and explained every step along the way. I would jump at the chance to work with them again.

Fantastic experience: First time needing PT and I couldn't be happier. I suffered "caster's elbow" from a combination of my fly fishing addiction and my sedentary day job driving a desk. I ignored it for far too long, compounding the problem. Once I got a referral to Tom at the downtown location, I was on my way to recovery. Not only is Tom an all-around great guy, but he both worked the injury and gave me the skills to prevent re-occurrence which I practice daily and have added greatly to my quality of life. I would without hesitation refer my friends and family to the Center for Physical Rehabilitation's downtown GR location.

Fantastic experience: Tom at The Center for Physical Rehabilitation helped me sort out a variety of ongoing injuries. He looked at my past injuries holistically and came up with a program to get me activate again in a way no other PT has ever done. It's been hands down my favorite physical therapy experience. I was at a point with some of my injuries that I didn't think I would ever do some activities again. He helped me work through years of overcompensating to get real mobility back. He's also a great hang and plays cool tunes. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: CPR Downtown gave me an excellent PT experience. The facility is spacious and well equipped. Cleanliness practices are top level. My therapist, Mindy Simon, successfully treated my neck stiffness with expert massage therapy and a customized program of progressive exercises that I'll be able to maintain at home. Fantastic experience: Went to this location for a shoulder issue. Tom, the physical therapist was extremely helpful and knowledgeable thru out the therapy. He listened to all my shoulder issues, came up with a plan. After each visit, I felt better and am now pain free! The entire staff here is very helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful for this team. I had slipped a disc in my back in August and I was having a lot of trouble doing household tasks. Tom stuck with me two times a week every week until I was feeling better. He worked with me and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process I am truly grateful for all of the support and help that Tom gave. Trish was also amazing and friendly ! Within 5 months of receiving physical therapy from CPR, I'm back to running 7+ miles! Tom is AMAZING and really takes the time to get to know his clients and their injuries. Fantastic experience: I went to CPR on Ottawa after I herniated two discs in my lower back pretty severely while working out. It was the most intense and consistently painful thing that I have ever experienced. Prior to this injury, I had never participated in physical therapy and in general had heard a few negative things, but my experience at CPR was overwhelmingly positive. I wish I would have done it sooner. I saw Mindy Simon a couple days a week for a couple months and I knew after my first visit that this was going to be the best thing for my back. Lower back injuries are really tricky and every body reacts to them differently, and everyone you talk to has their own sworn remedy, but if you want to get there properly, PT is the answer. Mindy did a great job finding a protocol that both helped with the pain and put me on a quicker road to proper healing. Not only did we identify the patterns that were causing the pain, but she also helped identify bad habits and weaknesses in my movements that probably led to the injury in the first place. She also did a really good job of adjusting the treatment to fit my personality and particular defects of character. She did great pushing me at the right times and holding me back at the right times. She knows her stuff. Tricia, at the front desk, was also an absolute delight. Friendly and courteous. Always a happy smile to greet me with in the morning. One time, I even had to bring my kids with me to PT and she hung out with them and made them feel comfortable. Lastly, the Clinic Director, Tom is really great as well. Even though I wasn't his patient, he always had a hello and a kind word, and seemed to know about my progress as well. During my last visit, he suggested that I try dry-needling for the muscles surrounding my injury, and it really put me over the edge. It was the final tweak I needed to get back to normal. I have taken so much of what I learned at CPR and incorporated it into my workout program. I can tell a huge difference. CPR has given me a protocol that will allow me to be active and athletic for the rest of my life. You don't have to live with back pain! It can be fixed! I hope to never be in the position of needing PT again, but if I do, I will absolutely be going back to CPR.

Fantastic experience: Hopefully I won't need physical therapy again, but Mindy was incredible. I'd come back to this location to work with her in a heartbeat. Communicated effectively and met me where I was. Inquired about different areas of weakness that could be contributing to my hamstring strain that I hadn't otherwise considered, and inquired about all of the inside and outside of the gym activities I was participating in that could've contributed to my lack of progress. Very grateful for her guidance in my healing!

Fantastic experience: I thought I was on the path to surgery to repair a torn meniscus until I met Tom. Tom was able to get me back up and running in 6-8 weeks without me ever having to fully stop my physical activities and am now pain free approximately 10 weeks out. highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: This is my 2nd time at the downtown center for rehabilitation, I worked with Tom. My first time I had hip issue. Tom did dry needling and therapy. The results was a full recovery. Tom gave me a set of exercises which I still do every day. It gave me my golf game back, I shot a 44 this summer. The second time was this past summer, I was lifting some heavy boards and running a drill. This combination weakened my wrist and killed my golf game. Tom gave me some exercise and I am fully recovered. Friendly staff and a great location with free parking. I would recommend Tom and his staff.

Fantastic experience: I can't rate this center highly enough! Everyone here was so helpful throughout the physical therapy process, and I felt heard and appreciated the entire time. All the people here were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I felt as though there was a real plan for my progress and healing the whole time, and I feel as though I've learned so much to keep myself healthy in the future. I would definitely recommend them for any future physical therapy consultations.

Fantastic experience: I made an appointment because of back pain. Within 10 minutes of an examination Tom concluded it was actually a strained hip muscle pulling on the back muscles. He worked on the area and gave me some stretches and after my 2nd visit I was pain free. The entire staff is friendly and professional. It's been 2 weeks now and Tom and his staff have followed up with me on 2 separate occasions, checking on my condition. I would recommend this group to anyone in need of their services. Fantastic experience: 5 Stars! - I spent time at CPR between 10/22-3/23 rehabbing from my second surgery on my right knee. The team onsite made me feel very welcome and valued from the very first appointment until the last. Tom, Dustin, and Keely were always so good with knowing names, stories, asking about trips, etc. for me and the other clients I shared the space with. It really felt like a family work environment as well where I would definitely look to work if I were in that profession. As far as the actual rehab is concerned, the team did an excellent job with my recovery as well. They were always great to educate me throughout the process with not only the "how to" for each exercise/technique, but also the science behind the "why". Tom and Dustin both helped me throughout by providing out of session work out plans to complete on my own to continue the progression even when I was not onsite. All in all, I could not recommend the Center for Physical Rehabilitation enough for anyone in the Grand Rapids/West Michigan area.

On my first appointment, they made the goal of care clear: we may not fix the source of the injury, but we will make you more resilient and teach you how to manage pain symptoms. In 4 months of care we did exactly that. I am loose and close to pain free today thanks to the careful and considerate care i received from Dustin. We moved from massage and adjustment treatments to resolve tightness and pain to a comprehensive core strengthening regimen. I started unable to bend forward to pick up an empty box and i am back to deadlifting more than 100 pounds today and will soon be moving beyond that as i rebuild my core muscle groups. I found a new passion in pilates on Dustin’s recommendation and have been able to attend twice a week. My healing journey has mot been linear—i suffered a severe flareup that kept me bedridden for a week—but dustin worked with me to take it in stride. He worked with my insurance to increase my visits for 3 weeks and we went back to basics. At the end of those 3 weeks of intensive stretching and massage, the pain abated again and i was back on the path to wellness. This clinic is terrific. I recommend it to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I came to the Center in November 2022 after exacerbating an old knee injury and receiving a diagnosis of osteoarthritis and meniscus damage. The care I've received since then from Tom, Dustin, Keeli, and the rest of the team at the Downtown location has been second to none. First, my treatment plan has been tailored to my goals. I wanted to be able to return to weightlifting and volleyball, two activities I hadn't been able to do for years. Tom listened to where I wanted to go, assessed my capabilities, and created a plan that is paying off. Yesterday I squatted 155 pounds and deadlifted 135 pounds during my PT session without any pain or instability. Second, they make it easy for you to do the work. Location, parking, billing, tracking your home exercises are all made a lot easier than other PT providers I've experienced. Three, they make it fun. Tom and the team create an encouraging and engaging atmosphere and bring a ton of EQ to their work. I look forward to laughing a lot and working hard at each session. And when you inevitably hit a low point, they're right there with you to keep your spirits up and your eye on the prize. 10/10 would rehab again :D

Fantastic experience: After a not-so-great experience at a previous PT where I didn't see any progress, I'm already seeing progress after just 3 visits at the Center for Physical Rehabilitation. I feel heard and understood, and have been given treatment plans that are personalized to me, not just one-size-fits-all. Everyone in the Cascade office is so friendly and know me by name when I walk in!

Treatment was done quickly and efficiently, and my ankle was treated far faster than any other location would be able to. I received excellent results from the Downtown location, and they managed to keep the treatments fun and exciting each day! Both Dustin & Tom are highly skilled and very patient FIRST. Fantastic experience: This is my second time at the Center for Physical Rehabilitation-Downtown.. (different reasons). I had a shoulder issue for a year. Tom, once again was amazing in my recovery. He listens, asks questions and offers a clear and effective plan to get me back to a full range of motion. The whole staff is great- from the receptionists to the PT's. I will never go anywhere else for Physical Therapy.

Fantastic experience: Fact: The Center for Physical Rehabilitation (Downtown GR) helped me Walk again. I shambled into the Center at the end of July to rehab a shattered ankle. I had just turned 39 but was in a boot, using a walker to get around and utterly defeated. It is not hyperbole to say that Tom, Dustin and the team at CPR turned this around. Over 60 sessions ranging from therapeutic massage to strength/stamina building I recovered range of motion, was able to lose the walker, get up and down stairs again; I regained my independence. Towards the end they even had me running and box jumping (I wasn't even box jumping before the accident). My previous history with Physical Therapy had me skeptical on the benefits, but I can safely say my time with CPR has changed my mind completely. I cannot speak highly enough of what Tom and Dustin are doing at CPR. Coming to a PT session there was never a chore, it was more like going to hang out with friends. Friends who worked very hard to get you healthy again. The rapport and genuine care that they have with all their patients was increasingly obvious over my time there. No one wants to have to go to PT due to injury, but if you do, this is the Team to work with. Highly recommended. Thank you, Tom, Dustin and everyone at the Downtown CPR for all you did for me. Fantastic experience: What a great experience! I came to The Center for Physical Rehabilitation for help with knee pain. Tom listened to the issue and almost immediately was able to explain what was likely happening to cause the pain and to come up with a treatment plan. The plan included stretching and strengthening exercises to do at home without a huge time commitment. The center's environment was friendly and rapport was great every time. I'd highly recommend Tom and The Center for Physical Rehabilitation.

Fantastic experience: The Center For Physical Rehabilitation was so awesome and supportive as I worked on rehabbing an injured ankle. The location was perfect, easy to get to and conveniently located close to home. Parking in downtown GR is easy if you have the MOTU app, there were ALWAYS street spots available. They do have a parking ramp and they do validate parking, but honestly, the street parking was super convenient for me. But the real appeal of the Center for Physical Rehabilitation Downtown is the people! My PT, Dustin, was super supportive and the perfect mix of teacher / coach! He got my ankle back to regular activity levels in no time! Highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Received excellent PT care from the downtown location. Tom was great about listening to my sciatica issues, provided appropriate stretching and strengthening exercises, followed up each session with adjustments as needed, and was very thorough and patient answering all my questions. Very personable and knowledgeable and good with feedback. I had some initial doubts about one of the stretches he put into my program (that dreaded cobra one!), but it turns out that was one of the biggest factors in helping ease my sciatica pain. Dustin was equally knowledgeable for one of my appointments when I had to reschedule. The front staff is helpful and friendly, parking is easy with their validated passes, and the facility is super clean and fully prepped for any PT needs. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: CPR got me in the day after I called for help. I had a bad bout of vertigo which had been on going for a week; Dustin @ CPR zeroed in on my problem areas and gave me exercises that cured my vertigo. These exercises will be useful if my ear chrysalis get out of wack again.

Fantastic experience: Love the staff at Center PT. The physical therapy was perfectly suited for my knee and ankle, and they were very accommodating for my schedule. Parking was a non-issue with passes issued for the ramp at each visit. 100%recommend. As an intern under Dustin, Becky was phenomenal and I hope she returns as a therapist.

Fantastic experience: I came to the downtown location after months of experiencing an unstable shoulder that started causing nerve pain down my arm. I saw Dustin Karlik and he was amazing. He focused on strengthening the movements I was most concerned about and my nerve pain disappeared after just a few visits. He made sure to accommodate all problems that I was experiencing and made me feel more comfortable with the exercises that once scared me. The facility is always clean and the staff is amazing. Parking is validated as well!
