Negative experience: My mother was transferred here from Hazleton. Worst place ever except for the floor nurses. The physical therapists, the case worker who handled her case would get a ZERO. Sent an 83 year old woman home who was unable to get out of bed, walk to bathroom, take care of herself. At first they told us she needed to go to rehab. Looked found 2 that my sister & I were comfortable with getting her in. The case worker said she would work on getting her into one. The next day, my sister gets a call telling her that my mother is being released that day. We called home health and when they arrived a day or two after she was released, they couldn't believe that the hospital released her. Stay away from this place unless you can be with the person in the hospital 24/7. They will not be very truthful about what occurs.

Fantastic experience: Jefferson Health 3 stars / LVHN 5 Stars, Allentown Since 2013 I have been dealing with arthritic hand issues. I have seen many hand specialists for numerous surgeries, like arthritic removal of the trapezius bones and fusions. I have also had many PIP failed surgeries. As more hand issues occurred, in 2020 it was recommended for me to see this specialist, at LVHN. Even though it was a 70 mile trip I made the appointment. I have to say that it was a blessing that I found this specialist at LVHN. I am a person that believes in recognizing people’s expertise, professionalism, and personality via letters to the Chief Executive Officer to all Medical Health Facilities regardless. I do it for surgeons, nurses, med students and employees. I feel it’s important that we recognize those people who have gone beyond the ‘call of duty’ with their excellent expertise, caring mannerism and personality In 2020 and 2021 I had surgery with this outstanding specialist and I was so pleased I sent a letter, after each surgery, to Dr Brian Nester, President and Chief Executive Officer at LVHN. Dr Nestor took the time to acknowledge by responding to each one of my letters. Around 2025 is when Jefferson Health merged with LVHN. Since the leadership changed hands, I thought it was important to inform the new Jefferson Health/ LVHN President and Chief Executor Officer about my outstanding surgery outcomes with this specialist. I would think he would be more than happy to hear about the outstanding and caring medical attention I received at his facility. I never receive an acknowledgment of my positive experience. It sure doesn’t take long to send a form letter acknowledging a specialist’s excellent Surgery skills.

Negative experience: I wish I could rate a zero.I should have posted on here four years ago, the ER and most of the doctors have zero bedside manner and can’t even diagnose you correctly, let alone list your illnesses, allergies, or medications correctly. Tell you a story of most recent trip to this ER, my daughter went to the ER because after almost two months of seeing doctors she still could not use her right hand and tremors in both hands as well as joint pain throughout her body.they just wanted to push her out the door! Dr. Smalls worst bedside ever! Billed for numbness in my daughter’s hand only so of course insurance denied the hospital stay! Saw neurology they said it was a rheumatological issue, then saw rheumatologist and they felt it was neurological. All my daughters blood tests radiology came back normal so they said sorry you are in so much pain can’t use your right hand anymore but you must leave. Now it is over two months now and my daughter’s hand is looking worse, still can’t write, barely can use it, severe pain in every joint to the point she can barely walk, and vertigo is getting worse! Followed up with a Dr. Obrien in rheumatology for LVHN the nastiest doctor I have ever met! First the fellow came in, who saw her in the ER, he was shocked at how much worse Maya looked. Then he comes back with Dr OBrien and she quickly examines my daughter’s says her Ehlers-Danlos is a two out of nine, which is incorrect. She’s actually a six out of nine per a geneticist medical Dr. MD not even DO like her who specializes in genetics and Ehlers-Danlos. She ordered a bone scan which is going to happen and liver scan abdominal that one was normal. Still waiting to get the bone scan on Friday and she said too bad to my daughter about trying anything for her discomfort because all the other NSAIDs had failed. And after she told me, she treats the whole person she’s like all her tests are normal and there’s nothing I can do basically and I’m sure all the rest of the tests will be fine. I thought that when Jefferson took over Lehigh Valley hospital systems it would’ve gotten better but I think it’s actually gotten worse. There is no more empathy or bedside manner by any of the doctors except for a handful and I feel like for every five doctors my daughter has seen one has been excellent. The rest have been beyond poor and I don’t know if this is Dr. burnout they don’t like their jobs. Maybe they should quit because it’s not good patient care and frankly it’s medical malpractice and patient battery and abuse to not take care of people. I’ve watched my daughter deteriorate over the four years. I’ve been living in the Allentown area. Her chart is so incorrect. It’s not even acceptable. We try correcting it. We tell them her medical history and they can’t even get it straight. And this is why the hospitals are losing money because of incompetence. As a parent, it is horrible to watch your child deteriorate before your eyes when she used to be a vibrant, active child loving to Ski and scuba dive, and she loved going to school and learning. Now she’s like a shell of a person losing all of her friends because they can’t understand she’s always sick so she can’t do anything and the healthcare system has failed her. This is not the only hospital like this. This system is not working, much better when doctors worked for themselves, then they were more caring and the patients weren’t a number and you actually got great care.

Negative experience: I recently received care at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. While the staff and doctors were polite and professional, I experienced a significant delay in diagnosis due to a lab error. My synovial fluid sample was mishandled, which made it difficult for my doctors to determine whether I had an infection in my knee. The delay caused extra pain, swelling, and stress. On the positive side, the hospital staff tried to manage the situation as best as they could once the issue was identified. I hope the hospital can improve its lab processes to prevent similar delays in the future.

Fantastic experience: My son had ear surgery on his Right ear. Everyone was great from the receptionist to the phlebotomest. Dr.Newby did a great job. We won't know if successful until his first recheck appointment. I was a nervous Nellie seeing my fellow was never under anesthesia for all the long hour's needed. He has been recovering rather well. The office and hospital were sure to call. To check on my young man. Which put my mind at ease, we were also happy it was a Monday surgery a pretty lengthy procedure. But having a surgery on a Monday is one of the best days. This way if you need to speak to someone in the office. You have all week. Anyway I would recommend Dr.Newby and his staff. He does the very delicate surgery on your child's ear drum. We pray He not only keeps from loosing more hearing. But that he is Blessed and that he may get even more hearing back. Until the 8 week 2 full month healing process is complete. We won't know how successful it is.

Negative experience: LVHN Billing Department Nightmare - Ongoing Issues for Months I’ve been dealing with the LVHN billing department for months over a simple $25 charge balance (the bill was for $200+) that was already paid by my secondary insurance. The original visit by my family member was in February 2025, and here we are months later still trying to resolve this. The billing department sent us the same bill several times over spring and summer. I contacted them in September with proof of payment by the insurance including the paid $25 balance and all necessary claim information. They acknowledged my email (with a cookie cutter reply) via their LVHN app but apparently never actually fixed the problem. Now, months later, we are STILL receiving bills for the same amount that was already paid. I’ve had to contact the again, provide the same information repeatedly, and yet the issue persists. How difficult is it to reconcile an account and remove a paid charge for a visit that happened in February? The medical care at LVHN is good, but their billing department performance has much room for improvement. Neither the LVHN billing department nor I shouldn’t have to spend hours of our time chasing down bills for months, the bills that were already paid! The cryptic communication, lack of follow-through, and absence of competence in LVHN’s billing department is concerning. Patients shouldn’t have to deal with administrative chaos on top of their medical concerns and road to recovery. This is not the standard of care expected from a business that positions itself as a premier healthcare provider. If you’re a patient at LVHN, keep detailed records of EVERYTHING and be prepared to fight incorrect bills multiple times.

Negative experience: Where do I begin, went to lvcc for blocked mesenteric artery surgery and had 2 broken vertebrae in my back. Sx went well was put on the 4 th floor and care was exceptional. They moved me to the 6 th floor because I was due to be transferred to their in patient rehab unit, therapy evaluated me three times and told me my insurance approved the transfer on Friday. On Saturday I was told that they were waiting for a bed, Sunday came and they said the same thing, Monday came and they said tomorrow. All the time I laid in bed with no therapy.i eventually called my blue cross insurance, they told me that they had not received the needed info for authorization. Then they told me I was approved but needed to wait 2 more days because they had not received the needed info. Care on the 6 floor unit was beyond sub care. Water was a commodity. Let's go to discharge planning, which I decided was my only option, requesting DC at 10am required my case manager who never came until 1 pm. Finally got order to go home, I was medically cleared for days. So she sets up transport for, asap she said, they arrived for transport at 5 pm but the case manager told them I could walk a do steps. So I waited again, only to be transported home in rush hour traffic in a wheel chair with extreme back pain. Centronia was a god send, they got me into my home safely. My suggestion is don't let anyone do this to you. Speak up the only thing they care about is there pocket book. They have not heard the last of me.

Fantastic experience: I was admitted to this facility with two broken ribs and a couple of minor back fractures on October 19. After an assessment they placed me in ICU overnight to be sure I was ok. Lynette, the nurse in charge took wonderful care of me and was an excellent hel during my stay. I was six hours from home and really appreciated her help. Please let her know that I am doing well back in Erie and thank all of you for your wonderful care and concern. Your hospital is amazing and excellent. I highly recommend it . Thanks again. Negative experience: I was visiting a patient and told to leave after calling asking it was okay to come. I was told it would stress my friend out. Do you know what's stressful? Not having loved ones by your side. He was happy to see me and went for tests and I said I'll wait until you come back. Then a nurse came in said I had to leave immediately. So much for bed side matters and compassion

Negative experience: My grandfather went for heart surgery here, and they had terrible service there. The one nurse didn’t bring him any water the one night. He also told him he doesn’t want anymore painkillers and the nurse shot him up with more painkillers. I don’t have proof but it seems like they wanted to harvest his organs since he was a donor. This place sucked.

Negative experience: Alright so I have an extremel phobia of hospitals, I went in around 1 in the morning. Wait time went fast but the staff we're a bit rude and seemed to be annoyed about me crying out of fear. My nurse didn't seem to take me seriously after I explained everything. I don't think not being able to move properly, keep food down, and bleeding for 8+ hours is normal. All I got were some meds, didn't even clean the blood off me before sending me home. Not to mention I wasn't even properly discharged so I sat there for half an hour until someone came back and told me I can go

Negative experience: If you’re in Pennsylvania don’t ever go to Lehigh Valley if the poconos or cedar crest. They told me my son was brain dead and will never be able to breathe on his own or do anything. They were bullying me into donating his organs from day one. I refused. After 3 weeks he was off the ventilator and breathing in his own , opening his eyes and starting to track. My friend went to visit him and found him hanging off the side of the bed ahead of me got him back in bed told the nurse they should put the rails up because he could of fell on his head. Her reply was , well he didn’t. Then a month of being there wound management contacted me saying he has a horrible pressure sore on his back they said she keeps telling them he needs to be turned and free from urine. She was going to write big sign because they weren’t. When I asked the nurse why they are not turning him. There response was why he’s brain dead. I had almost a year of fighting and them not taking care of him the wound was a stage four pressure ulcer. Constantly would find him in would find him crying when I got there because of laying in a puddle of urine and one time they replied oh I was told on shift change this morning his urinary catheter is too small he’s leaking around it, we need to replace with a bigger one, that was at around 4 pm .Then 11 months after admitting him he was transferred to a nursing home he was severely underweight the pressure sore was the worst they ever saw and his trach tube was very dirty. They were going to have a doctor change it ,but that night he couldn’t breathe they sent him back too the hellhole lehigh valley of cedar crest and come to find out it was never changed the whole 11 months he was there they are supposed to be changed at least every three months. He kept getting mucous plugs that would block his breathing so of course less oxygen going to his brain. He passed a couple months later. I now have ptsd from seeing the abuse and never getting anywhere with them. I wanted him transferred from the beginning and they refused they said there is nothing another hospital can do that ours can’t. My reply was maybe give him better care. I tried suing and in pa you have to have a medical person read the records for hospitals and see if it really was neglect if they feel it was then they allow it to proceed funny three medical specialists read it two said they can’t say anything conflict of interest the third said it wasn’t good care and left it at that. I know now they pay these people off so my son will never have justice. I just want everyone to know how bad this place is and i have pics and videos and messages from the horrible staff oh and they went into my records illegally because they brought up some stuff about what I was going through that only my doctor knew when I was part of Lehigh valley. I am going to the news and everywhere I can to get this out to the public. Oh and I talked a few times with someone from the hellhole that gave me the number because I wanted to make the CEO aware hopefully he doesn’t know if he does he is just as much to blame but I’ve left 5 messages and yet to have a call back.

Negative experience: The worst hospital on earth. My little sister had a seizure and was rushed here. They did a cat scan and they said eveything was ok. Well It wasn’t, the next day we drove to Jersey so she can be closer to home and she was weird and acting funny, naturally we were concerned because she literally just had a seizure the day before. So we brought her to the ER here in New Jersey and long behold a dermoid cyst on her brain! Her brain people! This is very delicate and the doctor who was a white man was so dismissive to my little sister, a Hispanic brown woman. Not attentive. Shame on you and the malpractice this hospital has. You’re under an oath to help all. Thank god we brought her to the state of New Jersey, let’s just call is a blue state. To all women of color. Advocate for your health. These white doctors and health system don’t care about us and are so quick to dismiss us. They just want to collect the check from the state and be done with it. Shame on you

Fantastic experience: Since my arrival at Cedar Crest Hospital on 6/25/25, I have received exceptional care from the medical team. Specifically, the doctors and nurses assigned to room J410A were extremely helpful. I appreciate the outstanding care provided to my baby and me. Despite the challenges I faced, the staff ensured my safety and well-being, as well as that of my daughter. Their constant check-ins and attention to our needs were impressive. I would also like to express gratitude to the doctors who performed my surgery. Although I was anxious about the procedure, particularly the spinal injection, their clear explanations and guidance made the experience manageable. Their professionalism and expertise are commendable. Thank you to the entire team for providing excellent care to Alayna and me.

We certainly strive to provide only the best quality care and service. Glad to hear that you can always count on us. Take care!

Negative experience: This is by far the most corrupt hospital I have ever worked with including financial. Their billing department delays claims. This has happened on SEVERAL occasions. I have had bills come 2-3 years later after a visit with no explanation as to why the visit was billed late. I have several bills not billed through my insurance and multiple bills billed to insurance I no longer have. They are quick to send you to collections without even a letter in the mail or an update on the app. The whole point of the app is to make it easier to pay. It’s obvious that their billing department is not properly trained and trying to double bill and trying to make any extra $$ they can. This is a horrible health organization to work with within the Lehigh Valley area. If you are looking for an honest company who submits claims correctly I would strongly suggest going to the other hospital in the area. I’m sure I’m not the first or the last to deal with this including employees I have worked. There has been several employees whom I worked who also had to spend several hours on the phone with billing issues. I’m glad I finally left the network. This is completely unacceptable.

Negative experience: If you truly value your life and health stay away from LVH Cardiology Cedar Crest. The Dr’s only have one focus and that’s inflating their success rate. Within 2 years I’ve had 6 stents placed in my heart and an implanted defibrillator in my chest. Dr Patel was supposed to be my cardiologist but I only saw him 3 times in 2 years and I’ve been passed around to the nurse practitioners. I have communicated multiple times with Dr. Patel and his staff telling them I’m still passing out, having chest pains, getting dizzy, fits of sweating and nausea, and still only have a heart functioning at 35-39% injection fraction. Today I logged into my lvhn account and saw a message from Dr Patel stating he thinks the patient is playing games. The only one playing games is Dr Patel in cardiology to inflate the numbers. Now that they’ve done probably every possible surgery to help me they say they’ve exhausted all cardiac measures and the symptoms I’ve had this past 2 years is due to something else. I’ve heard the same problems from numerous people about lvhn. Complaint filed with DOS. Do yourself a favor and go to St Lukes

Fantastic experience: My wife has been here for 4 days. They are trying to find a source for occasional stomache pain attacks. The staff is WONDERFUL! I have been spending every day with my wife in her room. Nurses, Room cleaning department, food service, administration, Dr., are coming to the room all day long asking if she needs anything, how is the service, asking for her to rate the food quality, etc. I have never seen such attentiveness. Wonderful hospital.

Negative experience: I was just informed of a situation with a family member whose at bedside with her mother at Lehigh Valley Hospital (Cedar Crest). Mother's legs have been immobile since November. Patient has been at LVH cedar crest for 35 days. Daughter walks into the room and sees her Mother's legs hanging off the bed. When asked why is her Mother's legs hanging off the bed nurse replies with and attitude she did that herself. Unfortunately her Mother my Aunt health has declined. Daughter tells the nurse that its impossible for her to do such an action because she's been immobile for so long. Nurse continues to speak to her a manner that so unprofessional and unsympathetic. Nurse threatens her to have her removed by security and local police. Daughter lets nurse know that my mother is dying and was just put into hospice. She's here to be with her on her last days on this earth. Nurse replies she's not dying. Then has her removed. This would make any daughter furious. For someone especially staff to say this to a member of the family who is going through this pain is unacceptable. This is a person whose coping with the inevitable of losing her mother and had to endure this unsympathetic unprofessional nurse. Shame on you LVH to allow this type of behavior. To the nurse and nurse manager, we know your job is hectic but this was uncalled for. For nurses who took care of my Aunt and family with respect and dignity, thank you for your service and I appreciate everything you've done for her and my family. GOD BLESS!

Negative experience: There was a time I would say "if I was run over in front of another hospital just take me to Lehigh" . Now I am so disappointed, My husband was there for 1 week. Could not get an English menu, only Spanish, asked info desk, was directed to cafeteria. For lunch was given only plate of carrots, complained so dinner was given a bowl of plain noodles and side of carrots. Had foot surgery, I had to get a knee scooter from home they didn't provide any way for him to get to bathroom. The bathroom had roommates camode that roommate wasn't using and no room for my husband. The financial cuts have affected patient care so horribly that I question the integrity of the establishment.

Negative experience: I went here figuring this hospital was much better, than 2 other hospitals that are much closer. Last week I spent about 12 very long hours in the ER, before I told them I was leaving because nothing was being done. My daytime nurse was very. I was there about an hour when they did blood work, then nothing for another 6 hours until they did an MRI. Some doctor came in later to talk to me, and you couldn't understand half of what he was saying. He wanted to do additional blood work & another MRI, which would've involved me being admitted & having that test done possibly the next day. The night time nurse was horrible. She was more concerned about talking with the young men working the desk. After being there about 10 hours, I told her I wanted to leave. I allowed the additional blood work, which took her about a 1/2 hour, causing me a lot of pain, to get 2 tubes of blood. I was never informed of my test results. I received them on "My Chart" but surely didn't understand anything about the MRI. A very nice ER doctor finally came in & spoke with me about leaving, and was very understanding. But it took that nurse at least another hour, with different excuses as to why I was waiting so long, to be released. It was a very bad decision to go there & it will not happen again.

Negative experience: $957 TO WAIT 5 hours in the ER TO BE MISDIAGNOSED WITH A "SPRAINED KNEE." REFUSED ME AN MRI WHEN I COULDNT EVEN WALK . I was told, MRI 's are only for people with strokes!! I went to a real doctor a week later who did an MRI, and showed me my ACL WAS COMPLETELY RUPTURED AND I WILL NEED SURGERY. I called to tell them this bill is not reasonable for receiving NO CARE AND A MISDIAGNOSIS. I WAS TOLD TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID , THen call to call them back when I get denied to set up a $50/month payment plan . Not likely to happen because I will be needing to pay for surgery from doctors who actually care some where else. Unbelievable disgusting establishment trying to rob people blind . UPDATE: when I requested my itemized bill(2nd picture) it looked exactly the same as this one with an added $144 fee !!! I asked , where's all the items I'm being charged now $1100 for plus this now EXTRA FEE ? They said it's overhead and facility fee. And they apparently are allowed to just keep adding to your bill if they feel like it . So if you step foot (or bring your own crutches and step 1 crutch) into this facility be prepared to expect this. I've tried reasoning with them, disputing the bill, and just get told to apply for financial assistance ( which THEY DENIED ME FOR SINCE I DONT LIVE IN THE STATE )!!! So left with no choice .

Negative experience: Girlfriend is in the ER last night passing a stone, in the worse pain and crying, yet everyone takes there time and gaslights her that she doesn’t have pain and other people have real pain who are there. You guys are trash. The nurses are worried about fashion and going to the club after the shift then actually helping. I know because I heard the conversations from in the room as I’m sure other patients did as well. What a shame

Negative experience: The hospital is good I would like to say I blame three people on staff at this hospital Jordan Angel and Madeline. I don't mind young people want to pursue their career but the disrespect when you ask someone who is in charge and they use their fingers as quote and talk to you in a condescending and sarcastic manner and then you complain to the manager. Who is apart of the shenanigans and fabricate stories. For people who over see your wellness to displace immature antics that makes your stay feel menaced and unsafe I left going to another hospital where I was respected and cared for in a professional and safe manner.

Negative experience: My dad is here currently. We wanted to take him home. They insisted we needed to stay to figure out his medication. They said they were here for all of us. They left last night, never told us, and we had to go searching all night anytime my dad needed anything. My dad’s call bell wasn’t even near him when I ran to move my car from the ER lot. They pit it behind the bed. Then the one nurse didn’t know when she gave him meds last. Very disgusted on this whole experience. It is hard enough and then be stuck here. We just want to take him home where he will be better cared for.

Negative experience: If I could give the review a 0 star review I would. I was recording my mother's last will with my phone and 2 nurses walk in while I'm recording and just say oh he's recording and left. 1 hour later a security guard comes in and says please don't record staff and I told him I was and he said ok. 3 hours later 8 security officers come to the room gloves on and hands on tasers saying I was recording again some staff again when that never happened and I was to go with them because I was being trespassed. My mother who was the patient even said he wasn't recording and they didn't care. Now Im a big guy, I can't walk without difficulty and sometimes I need oxygen and I ride a electric scooter but for 8 security guards with hands on there tasers. So I left with them. There was a young security guard with a red beard who kept making comments and I said making comments about a handicap person and you wear a bade what are you without that and he said meet me outside and find out. The other security guard told him that's enough and for me to leave. I left . I get a call from the hospital that my mother wanted to leave ama because she said upset about the whole thing. I then got a call from a person in management about the situation saying she believes I didn't record a 2nd time but it made staff on the unit who weren't even involved uncomfortable and the story changed. I said my mom needs to stay there so she can get short term physical therapy at a facility and if we could resolve the situation and she agreed and said she would send a email to everyone to let them know everything and It should be fine. I left it at that. The next day I get a call from Sue the floor manager of 5k S and she said she never got any email from the one management. The social worker is a joke, she gets mad about putting in a lot of referrals and changing your mind. I mean that's your job. Long story short, my father started a dept there when it was ash and I've been going there since I was a child. The place has sold its principal's for Starbucks when there's a cafeteria and has lost it's values in treating patients and families and the nurses have lost there passion and compassion for there job. I've never been treated like this and humiliated in my 36 years of going to the hospital. Me and my mother are cutting ties to the hospital and taking our donations we make elsewhere.

Negative experience: I have very mixed feelings about this hospital , on occasion this hospital is good but our last experience, was just terrible. I presume it depends on the staff on certain shifts. My father was brought into emergency by order of his family doctor that the blood work taken from his family doctor suggested his kidneys were not working properly and to get him to hospital as quickly as possible. The hospital took him in and we were concerned that he fell and also hurt his hand. Exrays were taken at doctors so they did take him for another exray at hospital and there was a fracture. They took care of that , thankfully but beings they claim they couldn't read online information that the doctor sent over. After staying bad weather (ice) was predicted asked that hospital calls with updates came home. He arrived there at 4 pm, left at 6pm, we didn't get a call until 9:15. Stating that he is being released. At this time they said they treated his hand and he was dehydrated but ready to come home. We asked about his bloodwork and told him that he was also brought in about possible kidney malfunction and he stated that he was still released to come home. We explained he may be dehydrated from his blood thinner and his water pill aren't working together (possibly). We explained our driveway by this time was completely full of ice and that we thought he would be kept overnight to be monitored and that we couldn't make it over in a ice storm. We were told then that they were going to provide transportation with oxygen home and that they had no extra rooms, so we waited and waited, stayed up till 5 am. Another relative called at 7am and told them no one came to pick him up like they said they would and he was all ready released at 6:30 pm. They never called us until 9:15, never followed up on family doctors note and tried to make it seem like we were incompetent but they didn't properly find out the cause of his bloodwork or kidneys. Again my father was in twice within the last month and staff was great until this time. We are seriously thinking of changing hospitals for this reason.

Fantastic experience: My husband was emergently brought to LVH-Cedar Crest after a stroke & brain bleed from another hospital. He had brain surgery within 12 hours. Spent a couple weeks in the NeuroScience ICU. The Dr's, nurses and techs were incredible. Someone came in checking on him constantly. Treated him with dignity throughout his stay. He was paralyzed on one side. They fed him when I wasn't there. They were awesome in making sure his pain was tolerable, still is in pain 2 months later as we are still waiting for the brain swelling to go back to normal. I don't know what I would have done without their compassion for me & our family as well. After I'd been there 6-8 daily I would call down before I retired for the night and they took their time to give me another update on him. It was a really scary time for me and our family. These professionals rock! Thank you for saving my husbands life.

Negative experience: Some of the Dr and the staff that pick up the phone have not compassion for the patients, they are a number to them. My brother was hospitalized for a week, got a biopsy done, they called him and make an appointment to give him the results, but a day before the appointment the Dr. called him directly and gave him the results over the phone like nothing didn’t even ask if someone was with him, when I find out I called the Hospital and the lady who answered acted like that was the way thing were to be done, so why was I calling about. Dr knows what they doing, really. To me that was very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Never so humiliated in my life! They discharged me knowing I had NO MONEY, NO CLOTHES AND NO TRANSPORTATION. Sat me in a gown not even tied next to the main entrance where EVERYONE coming in and out stared at me as I'm coughing from smoke inhalation. I will never return nor recommend this place . Nurses were very kind and caring, but you don't humiliate a person in the manner in which they did me. You don't toss a person out with no clothing and no means to get home which was 85 miles away!

Negative experience: Went in for a lumbar strain And the physical therapist There, along with an older Male Physical therapist, Blew out my lumbar disc On 03/04/2021, after yanking on my left leg as I lay prone, Leaving me in agony day In and day out; all I could Do in the morning was totally assist my Left leg to the floor and could not bend Forward to wash my face So I had to shower and eat Standing up, and then walk Around my dining room table Doing puzzles for about 2 Months…thank god for The pandemic making that Seem like “normal” behavior. Every minute of the day I have some kind of symptoms; Numbness and tingling are Constant in my left foot With a burning pain From my private area Down my left leg during Self care… But what I felt today …(06/22/2023), took the cake; A sharp pain in my left foot and directly up to my left lower Back…it was scary…like a bee Sting, then like a nail was in my foot; I flung off my shoe, wiping my foot with my hand looking for the nail or at least a thumb tac; I looked for the blood on or inside In my sock, but there was none; I was sure there was a nail or at Least a thumbtack in the sole of My shoe…there was nothing there, so it must have been from The sciatica caused by the disc That was herniated at Lehigh Valley Health Network Physical Therapy causing the disc in my spine to bulge out and press on The nerve that goes to my left Foot, causing sudden, severe and “frightening” pain going from the foot directly and suddenly To my left lower back…forget About scary movies, this was Real….LVHN physical therapy Denies anything happened at All and the injurious procedure Went undocumented by them. 07/07/2024: still had that pain But just in the big toe left foot, Not as severe now, 3 years later. As I am now unable to lift more Than 12 pounds without increasing the symptoms In my left leg; I will see a doctor (07/27/2023),and Try to end this madness. I will keep you posted after The surgery, which is Reportedly 90% successful…. So I saw the Specialist who Just belittled my symptoms As though nothing was wrong and I wound up helping HIM with HIS back problems more than He helped me with my sciatica; Also he was an orthopedic “specialist” Who are normally very Thorough medically speaking But after mentioning the shooting Type pain down my left leg, During self care, he replied That that pain “did not fit” With the symptoms pattern Given that the disc was pressed Against the L5 nerve root and not The S2 nerve root, using this as A reason for not doing surgery… But that symptom is not “nothing” it does exist and he Failed to pursue the possibility Of a different diagnosis, possibly Prostatic cancer or colon cancer, Given the localized area of the symptoms (perianal), nor did he order any special testing for Those potentially fatal conditions. He did give me another Prescription for physical Therapy, however. We’ll see how it goes…but I definitely will not go to Lehigh Valley Health Network For Physical Therapy… Of that I am certain. 10/23…I went to Saint Luke’s For physical therapy and am Able to lift up to 25lbs now Without pain( numbness only Now persists in my left foot if I bend the spine itself when lifting So I keep the spine steady and Lift with my legs. The burning Pain in my left leg is only mild Now…update: 07/07/24:the burning pain Increased down my left leg in the L5 nerve root distribution… If you have the unfortunate Bad luck to get sciatica yourself Try to find a therapist that does Some hands on therapy as well As exercises as this was the most Effective treatment approach. Life becomes a balance of Suffering from the sciatica symptoms like a burning Sensation at the left lower leg and perianal areas after any forward bending or squatting to the floor or self care where you have to touch those areas. Squat or bend forward as the disc is already on the nerve and during any forward bend, squatting or lifting, the gelatinous center of the disc that is “herniated” pushes on the nerve, and any squatting Bending or lifting causes increased pressure on the nerve And increased symptoms.

Negative experience: All I keep hearing are excuses and that they are backed up, 105 rooms and only one CTscan machine available!?!?! This is a big hospital why only have one machine, i mean thats what these nurses make it sound like!! 5 hours later and now my wife gets actual pain meds not antiinflamatories, doesnt change the fact the staff has the same response “ Soon the Dr will be in, soon the meds are coming, soon the scans will be done, soon the pee test will come back. Does the staff know we get our results on our My lehigh valley faster than anything and are they aware they make us wait an eternity like we havnt seen the results are in already and visible like this is slowcare and it sucks. Negative experience: If you are at the hospital because a family member had a heart attack just beware that you will be told to leave with a lifevest. DON'T DO IT!! Insurance does NOT pay for it even Medicaid doesn't pay. Negative experience: Worst er ever. They do not care about you. Came to er with major chest pain and trouble breathing. Told the er that I have an aneurysm in my heart that is being monitored. Do you think they care? No. Response is they are busy and you have hours of wait time. Meanwhile my pain gets worse and no one cares. Nothing is an emergency in their mind. The hospital should be ashamed of themselves. I would give them. Zero star but it doesn’t let me. Build a large er but have no staff to support it. Let’s must keep building more hospitals though even though we can’t staff the ones we already have. Hopefully Jefferson can come in and fix all the issues in the er.

Negative experience: Was there 3 1/2 hours, in pain, having muscle spasms, and covered in bruises. Was offered medication that I never received. Asked 3 separate people about it and was assured I’d get something. Never did. It was slow in ER and staff was making inappropriate conversations at the front in stead of checking on patients. At the 3 hour mark I called for a doctor and asked for my papers to leave since they hadn’t done anything to help me. I was told they’d be back shortly with them. A half hour later I limped out on my torn muscle and left. So disappointed and ashamed of our health system. Worst location I’d ever been to. Will have to follow up with a different ER or wait for my primary care and be in severe pain all weekend. Staff was rude and unprofessional. Would rather die than be admitted to this facility.

Negative experience: Worst Hospital on East side of the Mississippi! Nurse farted as she walked by. They don't even act like they care and they take their good old time. Hell the nurses are scheduling hair appointments and talking to their mom on the phone!

Negative experience: I hate that I had to give 1 star but around 5am on May 4, 2024 I arrived with my daughter who was in labor and her water broke right before we arrived. They took her up immediately and me and my son in law went to park the car. At the visitors desk a guard named Nico asked for our ids, I showed him mine but my son in law left his wallet at home in all the rush. So he showed the guard the digital copy he had on his phone. Nico said "sorry I can't let you up, we don't accept digital copies. How do I know its you and I also need to scan it into the machine" with an attitude. Which was a lie because he just manually entered mine because the scanner wasn't working. You could tell he was tired and just wanted to go home by his tone and aggressive nature. I said he's with me I am vouching for him. His fiancé just went upstairs to labor and delivery. He said no and started giving us an attitude. We went up anyway just to make sure my daughters' was ok but Nico called ahead to warn the nurse not to let us in. I explained what was happening and we showed the nurse his id but the nurse said there's nothing she could do, even though she knew it was wrong and she could have stood up for us. So because I didn't want to leave my daughter alone, my son in law had to take an uber home to retrieve his wallet. When he came back the shift changed and the new security personnel was kind & reasonable said sure I will accept a copy as long as the picture was clear. I understand rules and policies but it was the way we were treated during a stressful time. We were nervous, scared and excited for the new addition that would be arriving soon but we were met with opposition and no kind words, no let me see what I can do to help. Just NO and "I don't know what to tell you but I'm not letting you up!" "That could be a fake picture" Lehigh Valley, you need to train you staff to have some compassion. Even if the dept that does security is hired out. They represent you! I just didn't understand why he was giving us such a hard time and being so difficult and unreasonable.

Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest

We are truly sorry about your experience. To ensure this doesn't happen again, we'll be reviewing this with the security team. We appreciate you sharing your experience at lvhn.org/contact.

Positive experience: Transferred to Lehigh Valley Cedars from Doylestown Hospital for advanced treatment for Endocarditis. Serious issue due to prior aortic valve replacement/bypass surgery in May of 2023. Nursing staff/support staff/case managers were professional and compassionate. Cardiac and infectious disease Doctors were aggressive in their treatment and kept me informed of all medical decisions. I will be forever grateful for the care I received. Special thanks to Dr Bavaria - a brilliant surgeon and someone who cares about his patients. I am on the road to recovery. Thank you Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest

Thank you for your heartfelt review. We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience and successful recovery. Your kind words will be shared with our dedicated team, especially Dr. Bavaria.

Negative experience: Currently in the ED with pain level 1000 in the abdomen, upper right and center. Took Zofran myself before arriving because I was vomiting. Now mind you I’m 1hr 15min away from here, came to this specific hospital because I thought it was better than the ones I been to. So, as I’m laying there in tears, Amy ( the nurse of this POD ) asked if I was in pain and if I want something for it?! Uhhhh. Probably right? Assuming she had to go through the Attending PA, Michelle and got some TORADOL, and an ultrasound in line. She gives me the Toradol and says “ I hope you’re able to get through the ultrasound “ then someone comes for X-rays?! My legs were a tremble getting up from the bed to stand against the board ( again in tears ) and then someone outside X-ray was waiting for me to go to ultrasound! As anyone knows, they’re required to push to get certain/good images… THAT really had me in tears! Back in my room, I waited to see if it’ll calm down. It did not so I rang the bell. Some random lady came in and I Asked for something else for pain, she said “ I’ll go ask your nurse “. 3hrs goes by. Nobody comes in, I’m still curled up in the fetal position. It’s not even worth asking again even though there’s signs everywhere that say “ Pain Management is OUR Goal! “ 10/10 don’t recommend this hole for the ED! Anyone around this Allentown area, take the drive to Hazleton. They’re a smaller hospital but the nurses and staff actually make sure you’re comfortable! Edit • after shift change 5am, another doc came in going over my results. The Toradol was the WRONG DECISION and that makes sense of why it hurt WORSE! He patched me up quick and fixed HER MISTAKE!!

Negative experience: We came here for our third baby to be delivered. The care was great, but the waiting to be discharged was exceptionally long. Apparently they are under staffed.. We historically have had good experiences here, but will consider another delivery option if we have another baby.

Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest

Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize for the long wait during discharge. We're actively working on staffing improvements to ensure timely service. We value your family's history with us and hope to regain your trust for future deliveries.

Negative experience: I really should be suing these people but for 1, they didn't put my baby on my chest 1st thing after giving birth, which is most important this is the moment I'm going to wish I had the rest of my life. They didn't allow my husband to watch our 1st born son being born, they didn't allow us to do delayed cord clamping. I will NEVER have a child at lehigh valley again, or allow anyone else the same. This location sucks

Fantastic experience: Updated may 13,2024 I had a very close call back January 26th. I had pains in my chest, was having breathing issues. My wife called 911. When the ambulance arrived, the Ambulance tech told me my blood pressure was 225/190. Yikes!!! The last thing I remember from that point was the ambulance tech putting a oxygen mask on me. Then I blacked out. This was 4am Friday morning. What happened after that was what I was told. I was unconscious the whole time. I was sent first to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton. They were able to get my blood pressure under control, but had a hard time trying to revive me. Later, I was told that I nearly died and very few people survive this. The cedar Crest professionals literally saved my life. Feeling they couldn't help me, Hazleton sent me to Cedar Crest- LVH in Allentown. I don't remember any of this. But I am very thankful that I was sent to Cedar Crest. I woke up 12 hours l later with a really bad headache, searing pains going through my head and chest and sore alll over and very tired and listless. A very pretty and professional nurse named Lexi greeted me and told me what happened and where I was. When she told me I was at Cedar Crest, I gave her a double thumbs up. I already knew the reputation of Cedar Crest and was glad to be in one of the best hospitals in the nation. .Upon arrival. I WAS totally disoriented. All I knew was that I was in the ICU/CARDIAC UNIT. At first, had no clue what hospital or where I was. .I worked at Berwick Hospital in the radiology Dept for 18 year, 10 years at Orlando Regional Medical Center and Florida Hospital in Orlando. Been hospitalized many times. In 2009, I suffered my first CHF event brought on by Myo Carditis, Shortly after that I had a kidney removed due to a malignant tumor. I am 73 years old and never have I seen the tenderness and professionalism that I saw at Cedar crest. I'm from Berwick and around here, Geisenger is the standard of excellence. I believe Cedar Crest is even better. To Lexi, Adora, Melissa, Alyssa. Julie. Sarah, Morgan, Josh and everyone else thank you. Yes Lexi I do remember you when I first came in and appreciate you bringing me up to speed on what happened and where I was. Also thank you for trying to get me to walk. Sorry I was so difficult. But I was exhausted. To Adora and Melissa thank you for reminding me to get help and not walk on my own. I nearly fell. Thank God you guys were closeby. Didn't realize how weak I was. Melissa, I hope you enjoyed your Canadian vacation. Special thanks to Amanda from physical therapy and nurse Bridget for getting me to walk. I affectionately referred to Bridget as nurse Hached. Except Bridget was anything but mean as Nurse Hathe was. She was authoritative but also polite and professional. A real sweetheart. Bridget got me to push myself to walk further. Also got me to wake up, open my eyes, smile and even stick my tongue Out when all i wanted was to sleep. So I changed her nickname to The Boss. I will always remember December 27th as a very special day. I have 3 grand daughters about Bridget's age. I may adopt Bridget as a 4th grand daughter. Thank you Bridget. If I missed anyone, I am sorry. As an update, I was given a home health nurse. Had an EKG DONE 2 WEEKS AGO. Turned out excellent. All my vitals are perfect. I had an irregular heartbeat which ran concurrent with my regular heart beat. That is now gone. In 2 weeks I had a ECHO done 2 weeks ago with my local cardiologist. Result: my ejection fraction which was at a dangerously low underv20% is now up to over 40% Still have a lot of work to do. Still major progress thanks to the expertise of the Dr's and staff at Cedar Crest. Thank you all very much. When I came home, my wife had to help me to walk. Now I am walking on my own for 1 mile a day plus resumed my workouts lifting weights 3x a week. I dont know i will ever see any of you again, I will be forever grateful for the care you gave me Thank you and God bless all of you , Tony DeFrancisco

Negative experience: DO NOT have your baby here!! I had a horrible 3 day experience including an infection, miscalculated medication doses and a lot of pain/trauma. The billing was also horrendous - ridiculous huge charges and not transparent. My bill was sent for collection after 30 days even though I had already paid and despite the fact I was assured twice that I had a hundred and twenty something days from the date of the first bill to pay. Horrible horrible experience - suggest you try St Luke's instead.

Negative experience: My loved one had radiation burns from cancer treatment. They kept lying and told her it was the cancer spreading. Their own tests said the cancer was dead. They decided not to treat the open wound thus resulting in infection and death. They knew this would happen and they hoped for it. They are trying to depopulate this world.

Richard Dietrich 1 year ago

Negative experience: Level of care has declined since my last visit. There is a feeling by most the staff is that as a patient, you are lucky to be here when actually my surgeon was here and that is the only reason I am. Staff is overpaid and undersupervised. As I write this, my medication is over 2 hours late. The government has become their biggest customer so there is no incentive to keep up the level of care. No compassion or sense of empathy. They would rather argue with you than take care of your needs. Sad. Frustrating and I don't see it getting better anytime soon. God help us all.
