At HROSM, board certified physicians with expertise in treating and caring for all kinds of wounds are responsible for providing wound care.
If you have had a wound that has not healed in the last month, the Wound Care Center of Hampton Roads Orthopaedics Spine & Sports Medicine can provide you with assistance. Approximately three to five million people in the United States experience chronic wounds each year due to diabetes, spider or insect bites, burns, arterial ulcers, post-operative infections, immune system issues, inadequate circulation, and other health issues.
Our center has gained national recognition for its success in treating wounds that do not respond to regular care. Our team will evaluate your condition and create a personalized treatment plan that uses the most advanced techniques. The goal is to keep you out of the hospital and in the comfort of your own home.

Cellular and tissue-based products are designed to serve as a substitute for skin, providing extensive and long-lasting coverage for wounds. These products are beneficial for patients as they mimic the characteristics of healthy skin, resulting in less pain and faster healing times, as well as eliminating the need to create new wounds. Furthermore, since the tissue is not taken from a donor, the risk of transplant rejection is eliminated.
MLS Laser Therapy is a painless, safe, and effective form of healthcare that uses light to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote wound healing and tissue regeneration. Our laser is the only multi-wave locked system, dual wave, fully automated laser therapy system available. This means deeper penetration without any heat generated, allowing for faster healing with no known negative side effects. It has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration since 2009.
The HROSM Wound Care Center provides three types of wound treatments: TheraSkin, Osiris, and Kerecis. For larger wounds that are difficult to heal on their own, skin grafts may be used. This involves taking a healthy piece of skin from another area of the body and placing it on the injured skin. As the wound heals, the skin graft is either reabsorbed or shed off, and replaced by the patient's own healthy tissue.
Low-level laser therapy is a form of treatment that uses penetrating light to heal tissue, reduce pain, and reduce inflammation. It can be used to treat a range of mild, moderate, and difficult-to-heal wounds, as well as hair loss, chronic pain, and various cosmetic and skin conditions.
Wound VAC Therapy, also known as Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, is a process that uses a vacuum device to lower the air pressure on a wound. This helps to draw fluid away from the wound, reduce swelling, and eliminate bacteria. Additionally, the vacuum can help bring the wound edges closer together and stimulate the growth of new tissue, which can help in the healing process.

Fantastic experience: So far I have had nothing but the best care especially with orthopedic. Had an appointment with pain management(Friday)yesterday everyone was pleasant! The only downfall was going to the appointment I couldn’t get a shot they needed insurance approval and they only do shots on Tuesday and Thursday ♀️! At orthopedic I got a shot in my knee the same day!

Negative experience: If you go there in pain, don't expect to be taken care of. Their policy is to treat everyone like you're a drug seeker unless proven otherwise. I'm not a drug seeker...just wanted to sleep at night. They filled one prescription one time and wouldn't fill anymore. Very unprofessional and could care less when I needed help.

Negative experience: Had an appointment to see Dr. Carter on April 5 after the visit he then set up an MRI for me on April 15th. Had the MRI and as of today which is May 10th I have not heard from anyone concerning the MRI and what was found. I have called several times mostly just to get the voicemail. They call back one time and I was told I would be called back in two days which that is today and as of 2:15 in the afternoon I haven’t received a call yet, I would NOT recommend this practice to anyone…don’t waste your time ….go elsewhere!

Negative experience: I do not recommend these people on any level .since dr Hoff left there is no one there who has a professional or compassionate bone in their body
Negative experience: I was first seeing a great Doctor there but they switched me to Dr,Sahagia which had a rude and nasty nurse,last appt she asked if I knew my directions how to get back to the front ,I went the wrong way when she asked What's wrong with you.i reported her to Manager Lawrence ,he said it would be taken care of but my next appt I find that they dismissed me from pain. Management with no fault .That was very wrong and I was never told why ,I'm the one that was disrespected.its crazy that you have to go to higher measurs to get rights.
Negative experience: Love my doctor, but this is for the guy at the desk making appts. He wouldn't give me the day I wanted because in my notes they said I had enough meds to last until the next Mon or Tues. Why is he getting in my business. What matters is the date to get it refilled, not the day you actually get the presc. Anyone else have a problem like this.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding care received! I hate being in pain! They listen and care deeply about their patients. The only thing I dislike is seeing other patients be jerks to the staff...i know you're in pain, and so am I, but it doesn't mean you have to be a jerk to the staff!!!

Negative experience: Would leave a 0 if I could right off the bat after being called back the nurse who came into the room was very very impatient because their computers had been down that day and they were behind and also informed us that she had no idea how they were going to prepare for the next day and that she was very frustrated. She was very demanding in getting the proper paperwork filled out because the front had given us the wrong sheet. That set the tone for the rest of the visit, after the doctor came in he looked over our MRI and began to proceed to tell my fiance that he was there to recive a shot in his back (we were there for pain in the hip) and that the orthopedic doctors had sent him there because there was no more they could do....after going to the orthopedic surgeon today we now know that he was lying to us. We tried very hard to explain what we were there for and the doctor would not listen he knew what he was talking about and nothing we said mattered. I sat there speechless most of the time because I had never seen such unprofessional behavior in my life. Do not use this doctor they do not listen and do not have any bed side manners at all so very very rude.
Positive experience: I enjoy coming here the people are very nice and professional.
Negative experience: Not a fan.
