AES Therapy & Fitness is a facility specifically designed to meet the needs of seniors. It offers Medicare-approved Outpatient Rehabilitation services as well as a Fitness Center with cost-effective programs to promote health and strength.
The concept for AES Therapy & Fitness was born out of observing the diverse elderly population of AEC Living. Our therapists and fitness professionals provide a broad range of services to the residents of AEC Living as well as elderly people in the surrounding area.
Elderly individuals participating in the exercise program at AES Therapy & Fitness are supported by qualified professionals to maintain a high level of physical fitness and overall health. If an injury or sudden change in health status requires rehabilitation, our team of therapists and medical professionals who are already familiar with their needs can provide treatment.
At ninety years old, I take great joy in participating in exercise classes. Rosemarie is an experienced instructor who is able to accurately determine the appropriate level of intensity for each class.
Our 84-year-old mother had been using a walker for a few years and was gradually recovering from a total knee replacement operation. After working with her personal trainer, her walking and balance have improved to the point that she no longer needs her walker and only occasionally uses a cane for longer trips. We are extremely pleased with her progress!
Elderly individuals participating in the physical fitness program at AES Therapy & Fitness are given support from experienced professionals to maintain a healthy level of fitness and wellbeing. If there is a need for rehabilitation due to an injury or sudden change in health, our team of therapists and medical staff who are already aware of their needs can provide treatment.
The goal of our program is to improve the overall wellbeing of individuals. Our exercise plans are customized to the needs of the elderly, which can help improve heart health, bone density, muscle strength, endurance, balance, and confidence. Fitness professionals suggest that all adults, including seniors, should do moderately intense physical activity for 30-45 minutes each day, at least 5 days a week. Research has also shown that exercise can lower the risk of Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and certain types of cancer.
This class is designed to help reduce tension in the chest and improve both cardiovascular health and circulation. It focuses on strengthening the major muscles of the upper body, such as the shoulders, back, arms, and chest, by using free weights.
The primary goal of these classes is to assist seniors in addressing their most pressing needs, such as increasing strength, enhancing cardiovascular health, and improving balance. Attending these classes provides seniors with the opportunity to exercise with others in a secure and enjoyable setting.
A great way to start your week is to take a class that focuses on increasing the mobility and flexibility of your joints. Strengthen your core muscles while sitting, then add weight-bearing exercises to complete the core strengthening while standing.
This class focuses on increasing the strength of the hips and legs, as well as improving flexibility with low-intensity full body power training. Strengthening the lower body can significantly improve one's quality of life, making it easier to move and improving balance to prevent falls.
This class utilizes thera-bands and light weights with minimal movements that are created to aid with osteoporosis postural programs. It is a quick and easy class that encourages the implementation of good posture as part of your regular routine.
This class combines deep breathing exercises with a circuit of cycling that targets both the upper and lower body. It is a continuous workout that keeps your heart rate up by alternating between different muscle groups.
Members are given the opportunity to pursue their personal goals, either on their own or with the help of a home exercise program created by a physical therapist, after being discharged.
Many people, especially those who have not been exercising for a while, feel more comfortable exercising with the guidance and supervision of a fitness instructor. Our personal trainers focus on the physical needs and abilities of seniors, and will create an exercise plan to help them reach their goals. Classes are offered one, two, or three times a week.

AES Therapy & Fitness: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Louisa went above and beyond what would have been expected in helping us. It was amazing to have a kind and knowledgeable person on our side when dealing with complex and incomprehensible systems. Her warmth and welcoming spirit also make arriving at physical therapy a pleasure. Greg has a talent for working with older people who are new to exercise. Every session, he takes the time to ask my husband what is going on. He listens carefully and is flexible in adapting the day's exercises to match his capacity. One of my favorite moments was when my husband reflected, "I had gotten into the mindset that walking was impossible. Today was hard, but not impossible." The trust and connection that Greg builds with his clients makes these physical advances possible.
Fantastic experience: I would like to openly thank everyone at Alameda's, AES Therapy and Fitness for all their help, support and encouragement with my mother's on-going physical therapy. Because of AES Therapy and Fitness, my mother has made great progress with her physical strength and thus her ability to safely navigate her daily needs. I highly recommend AES Therapy and Fitness... espcially therapists Jackie and Greg, for anyone looking to improve their motor functioning needs, enhance strength, and safely improve their lives through caring and supportive physical therapy. Fantastic experience: Had a good experience with PT for my dad here
Fantastic experience: My mother truly enjoys every workout with Jeremy, both her balance and strength have improved since she started working with him. Louisa is both helpful and understanding in all my dealings with her.
Fantastic experience: A very special thank you to Jeremy who regularly walks with my cousin. She is mostly wheelchair bound these days, but Jeremy changes that for her when he comes to walk with her ("spotting" her to ensure she doesn't fall) each day. Jeremy always takes time to talk to Catherine (she's hard of hearing) and has been known to assist a bit when she's at a loss with her phone (which is her only real link to others!). I saw another AES Therapy and Fitness associate the other day with a different resident - they were singing! The resident was so joyful! I understand that Louisa, who now supervises the AES Therapy and Fitness group works to ensure each resident is able to do a physical activity if they wish - Wow - this is huge! Thank you Louisa! Making a difference, one life - one resident, at a time! While at the same time making lives better for the staff of AES Therapy and Fitness! I will add here Catherine's comments to me via text "I have difficulties walking. Jeremy walks me down the halls to strengthen my legs. He is so good to me, helping me and listening to me chatter". Many Many Thanks Jeremy - from Catherine and from me!
Positive experience: I have enjoyed the memory class with Jeremy. At first I was skeptical that I would not see results, but I have. Most notably, it is easier for me to remember numbers and I have become more alert when it comes to using my memory.
Fantastic experience: My wife, Katherine, has been taking an AES class (sponsored through Mastick Senior Center) aimed at improving balance and reducing falls. After several weeks of instruction, her balance and gait while walking have improved. She likes the instructor, Jérémy, very much. She says he is consistent in his directions, very patient and seems to really care about the well-being of the members of the class.
Fantastic experience: UPDATE: AES Therapy & Fitness continues to provide our mother with personal training, up to 3 times a week. Louisa Bannon is the main contact and provides STELLAR service to her clients. The personal trainers have changed but the quality remains high. Highly recommend contacting AES if you or your loved one is interested in fitness training or in need of physical therapy. PREVIOUS POST Our family, through our mother, has experience with AES Therapy & Fitness since 2018. AES has provided, through different modalities, wonderful therapy for Mom. The current personal trainer, Jeremy, is outstanding. Mom is very excited to have personal training and very happy with her improvements under his guidance. The AES Office Manager, Louisa, is equally impressive. She consistently puts the resident's needs at the top of any interaction. She works closely with my Mom for scheduling needs which makes my Mom feel very cared for and respected. AES delivers - you should feel confident in choosing AES.
