Fantastic experience: I was in a wheelchair for a year and a half when I started at Zenith with physical, occupational and speech therapy. According to insurance guidelines speech therapy was stopped after a couple of months. Working together the therapists had me out of the wheelchair and using a walker within a month and I have continued to show improvement with my abilities. The therapists positive and reassuring attitude goes a long way in what at times can be discouraging road.

Negative experience: If you have a young child I would avoid this place. Took my then 2 year old son to be helped with speech. They refused to allow me to go back despite me hearing him crying and freaking out. The receptionist said SHE could go back and check on him to ensure he was ok (absolutely didn’t and he wasn’t). After his session he came out with a belly band wrapped around him (I was told it was to help him calm down…..maybe having parents involved would help that….) I did not consent to my son having this used on him. I have an understanding of the policy, but it’s a little ridiculous to not allow a parent to go back to simply check on their young child who is obviously upset. A little grace can go along way.

Zenith Rehabilitation

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. As you stated we do have that policy, learning to communicate can be frustrating for children which can result in them becoming upset. Part of our job as therapists is to help them learn to deal with their emotions and to calm down. To do this, we use a multisensory approach which sometimes does involve deep pressure; the pressure wrap you are talking about is NOT a restraint and would never be applied tightly enough to hurt, it feels like a hug to the children and helps allow their sensory system to regulate. If the therapist did not explain this well enough we are sorry about that, they are supposed to be providing education to parents regarding sensory and learning strategies.

Negative experience: Zenith Rehabilitation will kidnap your kids!! They did it to me and my son 5/21/24. DO NOT TAKE your kids to this place.

Zenith Rehabilitation

Please leave us out of your custody battle. His mother had told us you took him from school without permission when he didn't show up the week before. WE called the police when YOU scared our other parents and our staff after they asked for proof of ID. When it was over WE were asked if we wanted to press charges.

Negative experience: DONT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE!!!! First visit was great. The therapist met with me to get info about my son. I mentioned that my son is particular and prefers woman. She stressed building a relationship with Theo in order to get the best out of speech therapy. She also offered signing him up for OT as well. My son is considered non-verbal. Had to wait a few weeks due to insurance and illness. Second visit was with same therapist we went back together and went over the goals again. He went back no problem. Third visit diffrent person came out to get him but didnt have me go back. I didn't think anything of it until the same person brought him out and discussed the goals and sesson. Assuming his therapist was out sick, I brushed it off. Fourth visit a guy came out to get Theo. His demeanor was off, but I ignored it thinking he was taking my son to his therapist. About 10min in I hear my son screaming and sounds like he's hitting his head on the floor ( as he does when he's over stimulated) from the lobby. About 10min of hearIng my son screaming and thumping sounds. I walked to the desk to ask in my son is ok. The lady (older, withh short brown hair) said with attitude " if it becomes a problem they'll bring him out." I said " is his therapist with him because he dosent do well with men" she said "I believe she in with him" I sit back down entersct with my toddler. 8 min pass and he is now hyperventilating and the cry has turned to the one he does when he's hurt. I walk back up to the window to find his therapist going through a file cabinet. I asked "is my son ok?" She said "I'm about to go check on him" confirming she wasn't in session with him even though she is supposed to be building a relationship and trust with him. I said "the cry he's doing he won't calm down from without me." She said "ok I'll go now"and left. I sit ack down trying to shake the bad feeling and trying to convince myself I'm overeating. Focusing on my 2yr old daughter whom is in the waiting room with me. Suddenly his crying becomes muffled. I assumed they moved rooms. Then burst of his crying got louder and then muffled and repeated. Confirming he wasn't moved further away and sounded like someone muffling his crying. I walked back up to the desk after about 7mins of this. I asked this girl "could i go calm my son since he's been crying historically for about 25min." She said "hold on" and got the got the first person I talked to. She seemed irritated I was back up there. I asked again if I could go back to calm my son. She rolled her eyes and said "I can go get the therapist" I said " no, I want to go comfort my son" she said with attitude again "we don't allow parents to go back" in which I told her the session is over and I want my son out here now" she roller her eyes again, left and came back and said with more additude "the therapist is coming out" I asked if my son is coming?" She said " I don't know, I told her you wanted to end the seesion" The therapist and the guy holding my screaming son came out. My son leaping into my arms calmed immediately. They told me he was crying because they were trying harder tasks and she came in to have him do preferred tasks. That he stopped crying once they did that. Catching her in a lie, I called her out. I said "no, he has been crying the entire time." She said " yeah" no follow up just "yeah!" I've had my kids in home therapy since they were 18months old. 6 therapist and say this is questionable. As they same it's important to have a successful session. That often requires a parent to come in and calm their child.most of the therapist record the sessions so the parent can log in an check on their child anytime. It's highly suspicious that they were adamant about keeping me away from my son whom was alone with stragers screaming like he was hurt. I will never know what truly happened in session because my son whom is 4yrs old can't tell me. There is absolutely NO reason for a parent to be prevented from helping their child. Especially when the first two sessions I was back there.

Thank you for bringing up your concerns I would of course like to address a few of them. We do have a clinic policy that we work with the children one on one away from their parents (which is also in the clinic policies that you reviewed and signed on the first day). This has gotten us the best results and allows us to help them learn self-calming strategies and to communicate without dependence on anyone else. If the child is not pushed out of their comfort zone, they have no reason to progress; this does not mean that we are cruel or forceful with the children. As for not wanting a male therapist, the evaluating therapist does not remember that request and is sorry that she did not remember. Both of the therapists that saw your child report that he became upset due to being pushed out of his comfort zone by not getting what he wanted and being asked to non-verbally request the toy. What you heard when you thought that the therapist’s were “muffling” your child was them teaching him self-calming. He became quieter when starting to calm then struggled to remain there and so got louder again. Any therapist caught or suspected of what you are implying would be immediately terminated as these children are precious to us and we only want the best. There are many parents that work in this clinic and we understand how it can impact a parent to hear their child cry. As both you and the therapists stated it was about 10 minutes into the session that he started to cry and the session was only 26 minutes long; he was not crying for 25 minutes. Our therapists both report that there were no self-harming actions during the session and all staff members are trained to put the child’s safety first and to redirect them from that type of behavior if it does occur. You interacted with several new staff members that day and we recognize that there is clearly a need to complete additional training with them regarding informing parents what a session will look like and what to expect. We do apologize that we were unable to meet your needs and hope that you find a situation which works better for you.

Fantastic experience: My son has been going to Zenith for a year now. He is in speech and occupation therapy. He was also in physical therapy but graduated that. Being in all 3 that are offered here we have gotten to meet all of the staff members. We absolutely love all the therapist. My son doesn't always feel like he is in the mood to go but they know how to make the kids smile and excited to learn. The office staff is also amazing and helpful. My son has come a long way learning from going here.

Zenith Rehabilitation

Thank you so much, we love working with your son and seeing him progress!

Positive experience: Head therapist seems nice, main receptionist is pretty miserable, and they started doubling my son up with another client without telling me or the parent of the other child. Apparently they can still bill you for "individual therapy" as long as it's not more than three at a time. After I confronted the receptionist about this, another parent in the waiting room said it happens frequently, but they don't have a lot of options in this area with their insurance. We're going to be checking out other practices.

Zenith Rehabilitation

We are sorry that we were unable to meet your needs. We are a small clinician owned business and do not have back up therapists if someone is out sick or is gone for whatever reason. As with most businesses right now, we were understaffed and trying our best to make sure everyone got their therapy. We do try to speak with the parents regarding if they are alright with their child being seen at the same time as another child, but sometimes do miss. Again, we apologize for not speaking with you, and we hope that you find somewhere fantastic for your child.

Negative experience: Took my son in for his evaluation and loved the head therapist however when our first appointment came around on 6/13 @ 5:45 we pulled in to a empty parking lot and arrived to the office being closed. No call, or reason as to why they closed early considering your website says 6:30pm. Called and left them a voicemail that day and still have yet to hear back from them. We will not be returning. Feel this was very unprofessional considering I had to take off work early to get him there.

Zenith Rehabilitation

Diana, I am very sorry! The air conditioning was out on Monday and it was nearly 90* in the building, so we did close early. I have in the computer that we called, but perhaps we had the wrong phone number or misdialed. I am not sure why you would not have gotten a call back and will definitely follow up with the front desk to find out why that was not taken care of. It is absolutely our policy to call back when we have a message. Again, I am very sorry for the misunderstanding. We understand if you don't want to, but do hope that you will give us another chance.

Fantastic experience: I love this place. My therapist Rhonda is amazing and is getting me my range back in my hand. I thought it was gone for good. They are amazing with children as well. I see the patience in the way they handle the children

Negative experience: I took my toddler for speech therapy and they wouldn’t allow me to stay in the room with her during therapy. I explained that I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my toddler alone with a complete stranger, but they insisted that I wait in the waiting room. We did not finish the appointment and I took my toddler home. I do not recommend this place at all.

Zenith Rehabilitation

We are sorry that your visit did not go as you had hoped. Yes, we do have a clinic policy of treating the children independent from the parents. This allows us to control the environment and minimize distraction for the children. Parents are always informed following the session regarding what occurred and of any strategies or homework that the therapist would like them to do. We also believe that it is our job to prepare children for a school setting in terms of practicing transitions away from parents. All of our clinicians are background checked and licensed in multiple ways, we do know that this does not allay all of your fears and we again apologize that our clinic policy does not match what you were looking for.

Fantastic experience: When we first came to be evaluated with zenith rehabilitation, with out having any prior information, Miss Alyssa figured out the concerns we had within 20mins of talking to my child. And everything has been positive and the improvement we have seen has been amazing.

Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my daughter here for about a month or so and they have been so helpful working with her insurance so she could come! All the therapists and staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, they always ask about any concerns you may have and communicate with you about your child's progress. Best of all my daughter loves coming here which I can't say about most places and looks forward to meeting with the therapists which makes me so happy and is so great! I am so happy to have found this place!

Negative experience: Absolutely the most incompetent staff I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Asked questions, given incorrect answers. Showed up for an appointment and the therapist wasn't even scheduled to work that day. Don't recommend.

Zenith Rehabilitation

I am sorry that you feel our staff is incompetent. I would like to clarify what happened on our side of things. When you called asking about 3rd party billing; our (brand new) office staff member said she wasn't sure and would have someone call you. Our office manager called and left a voice mail stating that you needed to call us back about a payment plan. Since you did not return our call your appointment was not confirmed. The physical therapist was here today, but as she had no more patients scheduled did go home. We are sorry that there was the miscommunication but we are not incompetent and if you had given the staff a chance to fully explain everything you would have had all you questions answered.

Fantastic experience: I just have to sing this office’s praises! They are spectacular in more ways than one. Annetta at the front desk has gone above and beyond helpful with insurance snags we have dealt with. The speech and occupational therapists are also very friendly and knowledgeable. I continue to be impressed by their services at every appointment. They are all dedicated to their patients and hardworking people here. Also very prompt. On top of all that....they are wonderful with children! They intuitively know how to connect with kids which helps things go pretty smoothly. Very grateful to know the ladies at Zenith.

Fantastic experience: These guys are amazing! They got us in really quick to get my kids evaluated and started them on their therapy right after. My daughter had been on the waiting list for Children's Mercy speech therapy for over a year and we got in to Zenith in one week! My kids absolutely love it and the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
