Fantastic experience: This was my fifth admission to Mid-America rehabilitation Hospital. It is by choice that I go here. The staff checked me in and started to work right away on my areas of need. I was able to work with Therapists Who I had worked with in the past. As this was my fifth admission, I am sure I was given a little more free rain.n Therapy services are good and and run on time. I noticed that there were many new pieces of equipment that had replaced older ones. Many places in the building had been painted and looked spruced up. Oh food services were good. Trays arrived late for their stated meal time. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: It was very nice the staff for the most part were very caring and had great bedside service... Except for one time during my stay, I did not get my night meds until really late and had to be up early the next day for physical therapy, other than that it was great.

Negative experience: If I could give less than1 I would. Stay away from this incompetent trash hole. They have no regards to their patients. They let the social workers run the dump and they are all the most stupid people. They treat you like you work for them. They seem to forget the patient pays for some type of insurance that in turn pays the facility that pays the employees. So they work for the patient. The employees do not do their job. They want the family there continually so thefamily has to take care of the patient instead of the staff. RUN THE OTHER WAY WHEN CONSIDERING THIS DUMP

Negative experience: I posted a not so friendly review here a few days ago while I was a patient at mid America because I was having issues with pain after a knee replacement surgery. I was in no state of mind to be posting that review, it was just out of frustration on my part. It was absolutely no fault of my treatment or the personnel at mid America that I was in pain and they were doing everything they possibly could to help me. After further consideration I would like to apologize and say thank you to everyone for the treatment I was given. It was top notch!

Fantastic experience: My experience at this facility has been wonderful. This is my second time coming here and I have been extremely happy. The nurses, OT, PT, and the doctor's I have worked with have been very patient and understanding with me. I was really nervous my first time, because I had just lost my legs but they made my transition easy and smooth and now I am back learning to walk. I would recommend this facility to anyone!

Fantastic experience: This has been an incredibly great experience for my husband. He has Parkinson’s, and unlike hospitals in the area, MidAmerica ensures his meds are given on time. It’s so important for their muscles and their cognitive. Their physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech is outstanding. All of the staff are positive and encouraging and they get great results. Wouldn’t consider any other rehab place

Fantastic experience: I just had some back surgery last Friday at a different hospital came here Monday evening. I have been to a few rehab and PT places in the past but this is absolutely the best facility I have ever been. PT and OT workers were super nice and efficient, even the staff was great. Can't think of a thing wrong with this place. They were absolutely fabulous. I threatened to fall again just so I can come back.

Fantastic experience: Meta, American really is a wonderful physical therapy and all around curriculumdoctors. Doctors Come to see you each and every day and are on staff at all times the gym is fully equipped with all the latest. Gadgets and things to help you recover. It's the only place that has 3 hours of full physical therapy. Broken up throughout the day. I would recommend mid america if you want to get well.food is good. you can order what you want. Clean hospital.

Positive experience: Excelent nurses, OT and PT. They really cared about my wellbeing and wanted me to be independent again as soon as possible.
Fantastic experience: My daughter has been a patient of Dr. D’s for nearly 20 years. Dr. D is like family to us and we look forward to seeing her for quarterly appointments. Making appointments is easy, follow up care with her office has always been a pleasant experience for my daughter. my daughter has also participated in outpatient and inpatient therapy programs (speech, physical and occupational). Staying inpatient for more than 60 days. there are the members of the staff who work there, that we also consider to be family. although we no longer live in close proximity to Overland Park, we still maintain a close relationship with Dr. D. We now drive more than three hours to get to her office. That should speak volumes to anyone reading this review. How many people do you know would drive that far to see a Dr for a 20 minute appointment? And why do we do this?? It’s because Dr D and her staff are that awesome!! That’s why.

Fantastic experience: I want to personally praise a nurse named Lisa on 6-4-22, who helped me on a call for assistance. She noticed me sitting in a wheel chair and asked me if I preferred to sit in a recliner. I told Lisa two others told me they were going to requsition one for me, but nothing ever happened. She said, I can make it happen. About 10 minutes later she wheels the recliner into the room. She had gone to the supply room and brought it herself! Now that is what I call customer service and going the extra mile!!

Positive experience: I was just here for the third time . I love doctor leuder . The therapist and the nurses are really good . The only problem I had was there are a few AIDs that work there with attitudes . I never really encountered any nurses with an attitude . The best nurse I had this visit was Hezekiah. The best aides I had this visit were Roxanna and Amanda and of course Atasha . I had Atasha the other two times I was there . I love her. ! Atasha is always so nice and sweet and caring .. My favorite night nurse was Lydia I don't remember her last name . I just know she only works on the weekends . I do think they need to change the way people's orders are taken. The cafeteria people come to take your order and if you're not there they just leave and don't come back, I think they should leave a piece of paper and you can fill it out if you're not there and they can come pick it up. I mean the first time I came there they would give you a piece of paper to fill out your menu for what you wanted . But now if you're not there when they come to take your order they don't come back and they just give you whatever . The housekeeper Steve he really didn't even clean my room the whole entire time I was there . Whenever I was in the room when he came in all he ever did was dump the trashcan . When he mop the floor he would just mop it without sleeping and leave all the crumbs all over the place . He never once cleaned the toilet or mopped the bathroom floor the whole entire time I was there . He would always just come barging in and never knock on the door either which I always thought was rude . But other than those two annoying things this place is a very good place for a rehab !

Fantastic experience: My husband arrived at Midamerica after being in the hospital/ICU for nearly two months. There were several choices for rehab, but we went with Midamerica and I’m so thankful we did. He was only there for 10 days but every person and staff member we encountered was always helpful and cheerful. His nurse, Jane, was exceptional. Also phenomenal was Dr. Lueder. So friendly, helpful, positive, and encouraging. His PT Matt and OT Carla were also fabulous. Cannot say enough good things about their staff! Only a small list of things to improve on: -room needed mopped -food was 2/10 -uncomfortable pillows The caring and friendly staff was of utmost importance, though.

Negative experience: This place is simply amazing! The rehab doctor, the nursing staff, PT and OT have done a awesome job! Everything went well until discharge day. My daughter medication was sent to the wrong pharmacy. When I asked to change to the right pharmacy I was told too bad and the doctor wasn’t coming back to the facility and he was sorry . I had to travel with my daughter to the pharmacy that was 45 minutes out of the way, who’s has difficulties with walking. We were forced to wait in line for a full hour to obtain her medication which required her to show her ID because of pain meds. Then the home health agency that Mid America had suggested told us that they only do “home visits”and no personal care like ADL’s; bathing, grooming, meal prep. “Real help”. The nurse that came out said she’ll only do medication management and check on her well-being twice a week for 15 minutes. And if I needed a home health aid I would need a order from a doctor that states that. The whole discharge process needs to be worked on. The need of the patient should always comes first. The help the patient receive should be beneficial and not this, it’s awful!

Negative experience: I never leave reviews anywhere and when i do they are usually only to say something nice as i understand the hardships of being in the essential labor field, etc. But this place and their practices are absolutely abhorrent and i would never recommend sending your loved ones here for help.

Negative experience: They have had my FIL for over a month and he still cannot walk! He caught Covid there as well- he cannot walk so he did not get that in his own! There was no phone in his room for over 3 days after he was tested for Covid and they moved him. We could not talk to him and nobody would tell us how he was for 3 days! We bugged the staff enough for them to finally realize he needed a phone in his room. Rude staff - terrible facility. Don't go there!
Fantastic experience: I had back surgery and temporarily lost my legs, I had no mobilitiy when I arrived here. Sitting up in bed felt like climbing a moutain. But after a month here i can get out of bed, shower by myself, clothe myself, and do day to day tasks by myself. I Started to feel human again and its all thanks to the PT and OT i had while i was here. The nursing staff are the most loving, caring and understanding people you'll ever meet. Same for pt and ot they all really make you feel like family here and i felt sad to leave but also relieved to go home to my family and pup. The doctors are also great, really caring for your health, i had a fever during my stay one day and they went above and beyond to get to the bottom of it, and that made me feel better knowing i was in good hands. Fantastic experience: My experience this past month could not have been better at Midamerica Rehab. Outstanding professionalism was evident always. My needs were efficiently met with knowledgeable, skillful employees who were always kind, attentive, and caring. The atmosphere was very positive and every person seemed dedicated to helping each patient make daily progress in recovery. I thoroughly enjoyed every nurse, doctor, therapist, and tech personnel. The meals were delicious and delivered to me in perfect timing. I will forever be grateful that medical friends recommended MidAmerica Rehab to us. BTW my husband was able to visit each day and join me in OT and PT activities. He just had to wear a.covid, protective mask, as did everyone. Absolutely, they earned all five stars!!!

Positive experience: They don’t answer phones and staff does not call the family or provide updates unless called and specifically asked. During COVID - information is all families have and if we can’t get that from the staff how are supposed to know?? Answer your phones UGH!!!

Positive experience: Not bad but not great. My PT (Betsy) and OT (Melissa) were amazing but most of the nurses seemed to be lost a lot of the time. You would think with it being a rehabilitation hospital they’d be more familiar with items used in a rehabilitation hospital. One of the nurses actually told me that she forgot about me so that’s why she was late on my meds. This happened 2x in one day. After telling my OT what happened she asked if I would prefer to not have that nurse again and I said yes, she said she would tell management. The next day the nurse was back on my service after the request had been made. They were also pretty pushy with pain meds. I told them I didn’t want to take them but they asked me almost every time they came in the room if I wanted a pain pill. I get it was put in my chart they could be used for high pain but I made it very clear I didn’t want them and they just wouldn’t stop asking if I wanted them.
Fantastic experience: The staff at the rehab hosp took real good care of me,, stacey and Jennifer were Awesome. They made sure I knew what I needed to do when I got home. All the staff were great.

Fantastic experience: I had suffered two strokes in a row and MidAmerica’s staff were heaven sent!! I love all of the staff! They were wonderful in helping me to! I had to learn how to do EVERYTHING all over again!!I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone who wants a greater chance of recovery to go here and let the staff take care of you!!!

Fantastic experience: I had outpatient physical therapy at Mid America Rehab, the staff was exemplary! And the facility was top notch.
Positive experience: First the good experience: For the most part the nurses were on top of his care, PT, OT & SP are excellent his doctors were good one in particular I thought very good. What they said they would do in his plan, schedule or medical changes they actually did, ( ex. He got a shower everyday at the same time). Once I made my disappointment very clear the Case Mangement director , his assigned Case Worker and doctors worked quickly to resolve the problem. I was told gently the one thing they could not change was the possibility that my son would have to go to a skilled nursing facility. If his medical condition can not be stabilized Insurance/ healthcare system won't allow anymore days at an Inpatient Rehabilitation facility. My son has a sever traumatic brain injury which causes his diabetes insidious to be unsteady. He was put on a pill form of DDAVP prior to being transferred to the hospital. However on March 6 his sodium levels were high so his endocrinologist switched his DDAVP to injections and I was told the morning after they actually started it that he was being discharged in two days to home ( Illinois) the social worker had no approval from any program to send him to. She told me I had to find and set up my own doctors for his needs. Neurologist, endocrinologist, neuroopthamalogist, neurosurgeons etc.... I tried only to be told I can't do that he has to have a referral. I have to either call my insurance company and ask them to send a referral or call the doctors at KUMED. Then I threatened to drive directly to KUMED ER department if they discharged my son without a safe plan for him. That got their attention and so they extended his discharge date to March 17th. This morning they informed us my son will be switched back to pill form of the DDAVP and if it is uncontrolled again he has to go into a Skilled Nursing Facility.
Negative experience: My mother was here for rehab after she broke her hip. Care was horrible. Doctors were horrible, if you could even find one. They did not follow any of the typical rehab procedures, including the one they give you when you are admitted. We never had a case conference. No communication. Would NEVER go back!!
Negative experience: My husband was there nearly a year ago and it was the worst possible. They nearly killed him. He had to be rushed to a hospital. He was unresponsive when I visited him one morning. He was returned there several days later and was treated like a prisoner. The doctor was horrid. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!
