Methodist Rehabilitation Center: Reviews
Negative experience: I put in and got hired back as a rehire this company now decides that they want to do their own Health checks because I worked through them before my health check was done at the Baptist. I do have high blood pressure I’ve had it ever since I was a child and it has nothing to do with obesity, but my blood pressure was up that day instead of them stopping and not doing anything else to me. Blood was drawn from my wrist. I was given a s t. TB Skin test urinalysis I had to go to my own provider the next following day and my blood pressure was down from what it was when they took it , these people rescinded my job anyway because it wasn’t down far enough for them after putting me through all of that one of the worst experiences I ever had
Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Dr. Villacorta / R Meadows and Methodist Rehabilitation Center to anyone whom wish to walk again. My daughter suffer a stroke it was nobody but God direction to this place the people was caring, professional, smart, intelligent, kind. They refuse to let her give up an lay in bed and give up they got her to therapy every 30 minute until she could stand and walk again this staff was super excellent for my daughter .
Fantastic experience: It was a great place to recover from a stroke, everyone was very good at what they do in the stage to getting better. I want to thank everyone that put up with me doing my stay, the two therapy that was good to me was Yolanda and Annie Lee and one of the best speech therapy was Gabbie and with out them my stay went well and the nurses and techs was the best.
Trent, we are honored to have had a hand in your recovery.
Fantastic experience: My guyhadbabesl Best friend that work there outstanding place
Fantastic experience: On Thanksgiving Day of 2023, my Mother suffered a stroke. She was initially treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Ms and later relocated to the nearby Windsor Place Rehabilitation facility for rehabilitation stint that she discharged from on 12/20/2023. Just after a few short weeks into the New Year, I had received news by way of my Sister, that on my Mother's road to recovery she had to be resubmitted to the hospital where Doctors believed she had likely suffered another stroke. This news was just as devastating as hearing about the first one. Fast forward it was the end of February/ early March when I had first heard about the Methodist Rehabiliation Center, in Jackson, Ms, for us this place was everything that I hoped it would be. During my Mothers 18 day stint here, I spent the last 5 of those days right there in RM 543 with her. I saw firsthand the dedication and work ethic of those nurses, techs and therapists who worked closely with my Mother during her stay there and I was very much impressed with the professionalism and pride in work I saw. To the 5th Floor of the Methodist Rehabilitation Center, I want to say thank you, and we appreciate all that you do! I have a list of Honorable mentions that I personally would like to include in this review, those that I saw work with and care for my Mother day and night: Marketa, Veronica, Antawanna, Senikka, Erin, Tonya, Brittany, Reagan, Comeka, Denetta, Nicole, and Tiffany. Again, Thank you for everything!
Roney, thank you for those kind words. It was our blessing to care for your mother. We wish her continued recovery and good health.
Fantastic experience: Staff and therepy was so Welcoming, helpful, understanding I highly recommend this to anyone.
Thank you for those kinds words.
Fantastic experience: This is a place of wisdom, faith, confidence and encouragement. Dr. Hou is an amazing Dr. and true care giver in every sense of the word. My daughter was in an accident on 4.25.2023, it was touch and go and we were not sure if she was going to wake up. We are faithful believers that GOD has a plan. We did not know what HIS plan was. After 30 days Nat did wake up but not much more, when most were telling us we were going to have to go home and care for her until she was functional enough to participate in her Rehab, Dr. Hou reviewed and said "she wanted Natalie at the In patient facility". She saw past where she was that day and was confident that the plan she had in mind would bring Natalie closer to recovery. When we entered the building I felt the presence of GOD. I knew that GOD led us to a place where he had arranged the BEST Dr.(s), NPs, Nurses, Technicians and Therapist. From day one she was recovering and improving. I am not going to share the medications that Dr. Hou prescribed, But I will say that following her plan, we saw improvement everyday. I believe it was Dr. Hou's leadership, the nurses keeping Wendy and I and our family in the loop on Nat's care, the Nurse techs singing in the hall and while they were bathing and caring for Nat, and for that matter caring for us too, that got us where we are. Remember I said GOD assembled this team. We would not be where we are today with out having been fortunate enough to get to Methodist Rehabilitation center. We still have quite the road to go, but with the continued support of the Methodist Rehabilitation Outpatient clinic we have received further treatments that they advocated for. Our insurance co. I am also going not name, was encourged by the progress that they have continued to guide us through the processes and get us treatments. I would love to Name all of the Nurses but I am afraid I would leave some one out. But you know who you are, true angels. We are coming back for our "Got well tour" mean while we will still come by for our "Getting Well Updates" Nat is starting school Tuesday October 3, 2023. It will be different, but none the less it is the next step, and none of it is possible with out Dr. Hou and Methodist Rehabilitation Center.
Sonny, we are touched by your heartfelt review and are honored to have been a part of Natalie's recovery. Please let us know when you come back to visit. We would love a picture of that reunion!
Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about the care my 99 year old mother received at Mississippi Methodist Rehabilitation Center. From Admissions to her doctor, from the nurses aides, nurses and nurse practitioner, to the therapist and to her caseworker -all gave their most attentive care possible. She came from another faculty as a result of a fall and hip surgery. There she went from weight bearing to two person assist. We left MMRC able to walk with a walker and return home! The facility is state of the art as far at rehab equipment. Rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. Attention to detail is paramount as seen in photo. And that is the same care my mom received! She thought she was at the Ritz Carlton.
Thanks for your kind words Leslie. We are honored to have helped in your mother's recovery.
Fantastic experience: Very nice. I
Fantastic experience: Mother's post-stroke life would be quite different, had she not spent the first month after her stroke at Methodist Rehabilitation. These people are miracle-workers!! The facility is state-of-the-art, too, and is scrubbed immaculate daily by the friendly housekeeping staff. If your loved one has a brain-injury in Mississippi, you 100% want them to come here for their rehab. No higher recommendation possible. -Kendall
Negative experience: Nurses need to be retrained. Very rude to family and patient. Say good morning or thank you. Have a good day so sad too see the lower standard Very sad people are treated like tthis.
Peggy, I'm sorry that your experience wasn't better. If there is something we can do to make enhanced your experience, please let someone know.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely LOVED working on the TBI Unit. Our manager was fantastic, and the nurses had each other’s back. We gave our patients the best care available, and were witness to miracles everyday!
We are so glad you had a great experience!
Fantastic experience: Kala Harvey and family are so thankful for the treatment she received, as well the rest of the family during her traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. Treatment from (January 2009-February 2014). Anyone suffering a brain injury SHOULD NOT HESITATE to contact the facility. if anyone suffers a brain injury PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE contacting the facility.
Alma, thank you for the kind words.
Fantastic experience: My family member 77 years old, broke his neck in a fall, After surgery he was transferred to MMRC. The doctors warned us that he would probably not walk again….. he left MMRC like a 40 year old. He was able to return to his home. He mowed his lawn, drove to church, visited family members, including flying out to Los Angeles alone. Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy are compassionate, professionals.. Thanks to all staff, Nurse Manager, Social Worker, Housekeeping, and Dietary Department!!!
Thank you Kim! We are glad we played a part in your family member's recovery.
Fantastic experience: Awesome place
Fantastic experience: My wife underwent rehab here in 2014 after major spine surgery at UMMC for 45 days. The staff and therapy was superb. She is still going strong at 78 years old due to the time she spent at the care of their professional caring hands. God Bless Them All!
Leroy, thank you for your kind words. We are so grateful when we get good reports back on former patients. Glad she is doing well. May we use this quote (anonymously) as a "Thankful Thursday" quote for our Facebook page?
Negative experience: My mother is 77 years old. She had a stroke and was at Methodist Rehab for 3 weeks. The therapists are excellent. My mother improved a lot, but my mother still cannot walk without assistance or use her right hand. Medicare would have covered up to 90 days at Methodist. My mom also has BCBS. My mom could have also used 60 lifetime reserve days. Methodist kicked my mom out of rehab and did not allow her to use her Medicare coverage to get better. My mother had no idea that would happen. We think that they rushed my mother out to give her bed to someone else. Dr. Villacorta told my mother that there was nothing else that she could do for her because she has improved. My mom still cannot walk on her own. The case managers were rude and aggressive. Clinton Wright seems very agitated for some reason. He told us that Medicare would not cover more than 3 weeks. John Irby later told us that there were reasons, other than insurance, why my mother could not continue with her therapy. Irby told us that Methodist is a not-for-profit hospital. When my mother asked for more therapy, John gave us a document stating that we could have to pay $2300 per day. Their not-for-profit status allows Methodist to be tax exempt. Please do not take anyone that you care about to this place. I reported them to KEPRO. Methodist lied to Medicare, and said that my mother was not making progress to justify discharging her. My mother was forced to go to a skilled nursing facility or a SNF. Medicare covers 100 days in a SNF. The SNF we chose informed us that my mother will be able to use all 100 days and that they will help her to get more days, if needed. They said that they would not cut her off. They were surprised to learn that Methodist had cut her off. Medicare paid Methodist $34,038.95 for my mother's stay, after she was treated so poorly. I guess by discharging my mother at 3 weeks, Methodist was able to make a good profit.
Fantastic experience: This place was great the staff was wonderful and there are not enough words to say cause my daughter is a paraplegic due to a drunk driver and they worked miracles for her getting the equipment that she needs and now she wants to move there they explained things to her and did great therapy the therapist there are god sent and the staff and doctors are to they showed her things that no one else cared to we have nothing but love and respect for this place. And the outpatient program is great .
Thank you for the kind words Danielle.
Fantastic experience: Super great rehab place!! If anyone is asked to go there take them up on it...you will never regret it!! When doing therapy "No" isnt an option...they want you to do what you can. They want to help you get back to as close to normal as you were before going there. The therapist we all came in contact with were super kind, helpful and tried their best to help my Mother meet her goals that she chose herself. Would highly recommend this place!!❤
Thank you Regina!
Negative experience: The 1 start is related directly to the nursing staff. The nursing staff was substandard including the neuro NP. The NP was ALL knowing and unwilling to listen. We had nurses come in the room that had NO idea what the orders were regarding the patient. Nurses giving medication not requested by patient or family members. Nurses and techs acting like they were inconvenienced when asking for help. There were 2 nurses and a couple of techs that was an exception to this horrible nursing care. It’s too bad they were not able to a work around the clock. I wish I could rank the therapy separately because they at least acted as if they cared about the patient progressing. So we thank you all esp the KK and TT team.
Positive experience: They were a great staff and very friendly that is the DAY SHIFT. The nurses and cna's were remarkable during the day. My therapist made sure I got out of bed every day. The night shift Needs serious help--- 1 nurse for 12 patients and I had to ask for a bath. Two beautiful ladies gave me a bath and they were CNA's thank God they came. Needs some serious help. My loved ones would stay with me needs help really bad.
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Therapists and nurses. Well pleased. All staff from each department were caring and compassionate. Made the stay easier given the circumstances.
Fantastic experience: The therapy was hard, but they did what I needed!!! The therapists were wonderful. I was dreading going after the amputation of my right leg, but I am so glad I did!!! Thanks to my OT and PT's! You know who you are!!!!
Fantastic experience: Our family member started out at Delhi, La. emergency facility then flown to Alexandra, Rapids Medical. After a few hours there he was flown to Tulane Medical in New Orleans. After a week or so he was transferred to Caldwell Memorial Rehab in Columbia where he stayed a night and back to Rapids Medical where he stayed about a week or so. Yesterday, after being discharged I transported him to Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, Ms. Exhausted, but was friendly greeted by security guard. The security guard recognised our love one by name which indicated they were expecting him.The nurses and nurse's aid made our family feel right at home which is a peaceful environment. They were all over it so, we felt very confident in them. Very clean facility! To sum it up-Our love one said to the doctor, " I like you. You are a good doctor." Most importantly, our loved one was pleased.

Negative experience: Worst nightmare for my dad & us as his caregivers. Physical Therapists were great but not impressed with nursing staff. Neurologist said there would be little change of mobility & he would need long term care. We had him moved & he has full mobility as of today & at home with his wife of 64 yrs. He is 85 yrs old.
Fantastic experience: I was hospital 6 week before i went to mestodist rehab. I so thank for God send them ito my life. And i seen some so people improve i wish they had more more in mississippi really help a memory and i walking again. I thank God his power of healing Dr. To every one participate in my care
Negative experience: My husband's stay there was anything but helpful, in fact it was extremely awful. Therapy was good, but everything else was substandard. He went in with stroke issues, i.e. Memory and loss of eyesight, which he also left with, in addition to a huge open ulcer (sore) as a result of complete neglect on nursing staff. He had assistance getting dressed including his socks, and this ulcer was so noticable, I don't understand why it was ignored. He didn't know it was there as he doesn't have a lot of feeling in his feet so he couldn't tell anyone. So I brought him home Thurs and had to take him back to dr Fri, and then to wound care, which we continue to go once a week. He has enough to contend with trying to adjust to the loss of some sight, he didn't need to pay for staff's incompetence. While the center was highly recommended, I would never recommend it, and would encourage to go elsewhere.
Negative experience: Took 6 months to get my daughters braces. The billing department is a joke. Tried to turn us into collections while we are trying to get insurance to pay. The billing department refused to help by contacting our insurance. Stated it was our problem not theirs. Now come to find out the braces weren't even done properly and still fighting with billing department to keep from turning us over to collections while we play phone tag with insurance
Negative experience: My husband's stay was horrible...and I myself was humiliated by a physical therPist. I would not recommend to others when the staff comes before patients and their families
