Active Release Therapy is a form of treatment that uses a combination of manipulation and movement to address the soft tissues of the body. It works by breaking apart adhesions, which are thick accumulations of scar tissue that reduce mobility and cause discomfort and tightness in the muscles and joints.

During post isometric relaxation, the muscle is first stretched and then held in a position of minimal tension. After the isometric contraction is released, the muscle is allowed to relax and is gently stretched. This technique is often used to treat tight and tender muscles that are associated with musculoskeletal pain.
