SilverSpring Health and Rehabilitation Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Staff is very knowledgeable and you can tell they really care
Fantastic experience: I have lived here at the building for 3 months. It’s been good, they’ve all been good to me! Everyone is the bestest here.
Thank you so much for sharing, Doc!
Fantastic experience: Our Uncle George was in your facility for rehab and we were very pleased with the care he received and how clean the facility was and the exceptional care given by C.J. LVN and he loved the guy named Juicy as he addressed any and all concerns I had which were very few. We would select your facility again anytime.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, Courtney! We strive for the best outcomes, so its such great news to hear how well your Uncle has done in our care!

Fantastic experience: My mom lived at Silverspring since November 2023.The nurses and staff took really good care of her as she battled cancer. She really enjoyed going to the lunch room and associating with everyone. I know you gave my mom more time than what the doctor's were expecting her to live.
Thank you so much for sharing your kind words! We appreciate you!
Fantastic experience: I stopped by at 7 am on a Sunday to see my mama and the hospitality was the best I have experienced so far through my mama’s journey.
Thank you so much, Monique!
Negative experience: Horrible
Pam, we would like to speak with you directly regarding your recent experience. At your earliest convenince, please contact Bobby Simpkins at 325-701-9975

Negative experience: My dad is here and when I came in to visit he in his bed. With the bed as high as would go. That's just not safe. He had a glass of water with no lid or straw. If anyone can lay on your back and drink without spilling a full glass of water on you I would like to meet you. Then I went to the nursing station where 3 people was sitting having there lunch that they had just ordered to ask for a lid and straw and the response was they are in the kitchen and I can just go knock on the door. Then he called for a nurse and the aide came in and said the others can't understand him so they do not like to come in the room. I thought the staff was here to take care if him. We have left a erase board for people to be able to understand him. But the marker isn't here in the room anymore. Shame on the staff here
Jana, our top priority is providing the most compassionate, safe and supportive care to our patients and we would like to speak with you directly regarding your recent experience. Please contact Bobby Simpkins at 325-701-9975

Frank, our goal is to provide professional care in a safe environment and we apologize for not meeting your expectations.
Negative experience: Not enough CNAs but the ones that are here are hard working at this place had to sit in my wheelchair for hours on end the food is horrible this place is not Serene at all there is a lady that screams helpup and down the hallway all day long the environment is nerve-wracking
Crixxie, our goal is to provide professional care in a safe environment and we apologize for not meeting your expectations.
Negative experience: Silver springs is nice neat and clean but I do not like the staff. Everyone was sitting at the desk on their phones looking so hateful. You can tell they don't want to be there not to mention extremely rude. They stole from my mom. Couldn't take anything to her because it would come up missing. Then i asked about her missing items and they got really mad and started talking trash. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! IPROMISE YOU WILL REGRET IT. Its so sad and disturbing that you pay a lot of money hoping and praying that your loved one will be treated right and taken care of in their last years and they just rob you blind. VERY DISGUSTING!!! Better treat my mom right!!!!! Yall Better hope you are very good to her and every other PATIENTS in there as well. I HAVE RECENTLY REMOVED MY MOM FROM THIS TERRIBLE PLACE! I couldn't even take her candy because the staff STOLE EVERYTHING! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND THE STAFF SHOULD BE IN JAIL!!! THEY ARE EXTREMELY MEAN TO THESE POOR PATIENTS
Lewi, we would like to speak with you directly. Please contact Bobby Simpkins at 325-701-9975

Fantastic experience: My mom received PT at Silver Springs for two weeks. The entire staff was exceptional! They made us feel at ease, and communication throughout this time was great. Talitha, Moraima and Raquel NP went above and beyond to make us and my mom feel comfortable during her stay. Thank you for everything!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, Sandra! We strive for the best outcomes, so it is such great news to hear how well your mom has done in our care!
Fantastic experience: The staff is awesome , caring , they put the needs of the patients first it's their home . Beautiful people ❤️
Thank you, Patricia!
Negative experience: This place is not safe. It understaffed and administration does not to help you. I had to call for safe Harbor because we were dangerously understaffed. I left before I lost my license. Enter at your own risk. Administration will leave you out to dry
Dayna, our goal is provide professional care in a safe environment and we apologize for not meeting your expectations.
Negative experience: My Dad had 3 surgeries at Hendrix Hospital north then went to this place on day one my dad ask for ice water they told me he can get up his self I said excuse me I saw I guy putting his bare hands in the ice bucket don’t think so then we went to spend Christmas with him on the 23rd went to his room he was laying there on a bare bed and his covers was full of Bile from his drain tube after surgery I went to the front office and they said they was out of sheets I said that’s not going to work then they followed me and changed him then went back on Christmas Day same dam thing so I got pictures and if somebody don’t get in trouble going to the state then we get transferred to Comanche no clothes in his suitcase and no reply from them very nice place but bunch of lazy people that don’t care about there patients

Fantastic experience: We visit SilverSpring daily to see our loved one. Yesterday, we visited to have Thanksgiving lunch. We enjoyed the time in the cafeteria with our loved one & her roommate, in addition to the food served. The vegetables were tasty. We enjoyed the rice with shrimp & sausage entree.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Collene! Happy Holidays!
Fantastic experience: Received kindness, patience and was listened to. Skilled therapists and assistants provide excellent care. Never a harsh word or rush. Very nice accomodations.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and professional

Fantastic experience: Bright cherry welcoming staff beautiful place
Fantastic experience: I love this place! Always nice and clean. The staff are all amazing and so nice! Great place!
Fantastic experience: Everyone was so friendly. The place was clean, & residents seemed safe & comfortable.
Negative experience: The staff are so rude, don't care attitude. I would never place anyone you love in here. Trust the reviews! Every response from every bad review is the same response and it always says the owner is responding but the number they give you lead you right back into the middle of the nurse's desk you don't get any kind of answers
Caroline, our top priority at Silver Spring Health and Rehabilitation Center is to always deliver our patients with the highest quality of safe and compassionate care. We would like to speak with you directly at your earliest convenience. Please contact Anita Evangelista at 325-701-9975.
Fantastic experience: My family and I would like the thank the Activity Department and nursing staff for working so hard to organize the Easter Egg Hunt. The children were running about in the courtyard looking for eggs and the inside common area had Easter eggs for residents to spot along with Easter baskets , cupcakes, cookies , and punch. Our mother is 99 years old and has lost many of her words but today she made short comments about everything from cupcakes to the children and she was laughing.
Positive experience: I've worked at better facilities. They do need improvement over all and I hope they figure out how to provide the best care for the residents and have a better work environment for the staff. Don't be fooled by the big building its just like all the other facilities around Abilene it has many problems. But it's not the worse facility to send your loved ones too.
Fantastic experience: Very pleased with how organized and professional everyone has been during the process of getting my mom admitted today. Facility itself is really nice and clean looking. She said the food was good. No negative thoughts or comments.
Thanks for sharing Irma! We always strive to offer the highest standard of care.
Positive experience: My recent experience is this place never smells bad. There is only one nurse in the evening for that whole station and two aides. Some dinners they use beans for their protein or tuna sandwiches. Some of the nurses have been there for years. You can forget anyone answering the phone after 6 p.m., but I know they are short staffed.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Becky. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Negative experience: My mother was here for several weeks. While I am forever grateful that she had a place to help care for her while she was recovering, I would never recommend Silver Spring. I understand budget and staff constraints but the food was always cold and never looked appealing. My mom's water in her oxygen concentrator went empty for more than a day and her sheets rarely changed. But my biggest issue is that they did not send her back to the hospital when they saw her declining, nor did they seem too interested in helping her get oxygen for home when her O2 levels did not improve under their care. When they FINALLY did send her back to the ER they said BOTH the numbers on file for me were I correct, nor did they contact my father. May not be their fault if she gave them wrong numbers but seems unlikely. My mom passed away at the hospital days later and I will always wonder if she'd be around if more had been done sooner.
Marissa, our top priority is providing the most compassionate, safe and supportive care to our patients and we would like to speak to you directly regarding your recent experience. At your earliest convenience, please contact Anita Evangelista at 325-701-9975.
Negative experience: I gave them 1 star because that was the lowest I could give. It looks good on the outside but once your loved one moves in then you really see what it is. All these facilitys need more regulations. This one is no better than the rest. It starts from the Director on down. They need more oversight for the care of patients. If you choose this place please be involved with your loved one daily becauae they will not get baths on schedule or their medicene and the food is horrible. All they do is make excuses for the lack of care. The people at this facilty should be ashamed of the care they offer. If your loved one is there long term then please be ware. They let my mom fall in the floor and my mother was the first to tell me. Medicene never on time showers like twice a week if your lucky. Food is bad even though Jody is very nice but the only good nurse was Brenda. I would never put a loved one here again.
Jennifer, our top priority at SilverSpring Health and Rehab is providing the most compassionate, safe and supportive care to our patients and we would like to speak to you directly regarding your experience. At your earliest convenience, please contact Anita Evangelista at 325-701-9975.
Fantastic experience: My grams had been admitted about a month ago, the staff at Silver Spring invited her to keep active and helped with her therapy for she is older and had her in PT often. The staff was extremely nice and catered to her every need. The rooms were clean and it a beautiful place. She is back home now, and is doing fine. Thank you Silver Spring for your commitment in her care and well being.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Dana. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.

Positive experience: Everytime I visit its very clean and nice employees!
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Pat. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Positive experience: Coming from a food service personal history, I understand the constraints of budget, time, and quality. Throw in personal taste and dietary factors and it becomes as challenging as making a soup sandwich. That being said, I see the dietary staff working very hard with what they have to provide healthy meals with flavor that appeals to even the most catlike of us who are incredibly picky. I would love to see what they would do with a bit of budget freedom. As it is, they work diligently and truly care for the residents. In closing, thank you dietary staff. I see you. I hear you. I appreciate you. I need you.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Sonia. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: Always friendly receptionists and staff.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Harvey. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: Troop 7029 girl scouts helped decorate the doors of patients. Everyone was nice and patient with the girls ages first to 9th grade. It was fun for us, Nicki was most helpful. Thank you for letting the girls get their community hours in such a festive way.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Ava. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: My sister was there earlier in the year after weeks in the hospital for kidney infection and sepcess. She had excellent care at Silver Spring. Great and caring staff.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Julia. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: The business office, in particular, has been extremely helpful in helping us navigate paperwork and the Medicaid system and making sure my mother is cared for. Tony has been super helpful, as well as a handful of other staff members.
Thank you for sharing such kind, genuine words, Megan. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: To all those that criticize a LTC- long term care facilities staff. Walk a day in their shoes. The CNA's start their day at 06:00 with making rounds on their halls, changing residents, getting them dressed an up for the day, giving showers, making beds, emptying trash, passing meal trays, assisting those that need assistance with eating all the while trying to answer call lights that are ringing nonstop. The staff that work 18:00 come on shift and start the opposite side of things. They start rounding , picking up meals trays, toileting, changing and getting residents ready for bed all while answering nonstop call lights. They are also required to document all that occurred that day all before the end of their shift. They care about the residents they are working with otherwise they would not be there. The nurses start their med pass at 06:00 for the residents living here. They basically have three med passes a day that take them roughly 3 hours each time to complete while fielding questions and calls from family members, doctors offices, residents, therapies and myself. They can work anywhere in the community for more money , less work and better hours, but they choose to take care of your family member to the best of their ability. Living in a LTC facility is an adjustment for the resident and their family. It is not where they want to be and we as their caregivers know that. We strive to make their stay here as pleasant and home like as we can. My staff come to work when businesses are closed for the day, holidays, snow and ice storms to care for the residents. Yes they get paid to do the job but as I said previously they can choose to work other places but don't. My hat goes off to the CNA's and Nurses that work here at Silver Spring. I would place a family here under their care if needed as I trust my staff to do what needs to be done to care for them. Kudos to you guys , you get a 10/10 from me. Paulette Bottasso RN/DON Silver Spring Health and Rehab Center.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Paulette. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: Not been used to a nursing facility I could smell the odor of urine walking down the hall way. Everything was ok
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Michael. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place and the social workers there are the best! 5 out of 5 stars.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Melinda. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been at silver Springs nursing home for six months and I love it here. Staff is loving and caring they come to work and make sure the residents are taking care of. I would pick this nursing home over anyone in Abilene Texas.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Tennille. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Negative experience: My mother was denied her pain medicine ( just had a total knee replacement yesterday) she was not given any food or medicine during her 8 hour stay before I had her removed. Horrible place! My mother was neglected and abused.
Katie, our top priority at Silver Spring Health and Rehabilitation Center is to always deliver our patients with the highest quality of safe and compassionate care. We would like to speak to directly at your earliest convenience. Please contact Anita Evangelista at (325) 701-9975.
Negative experience: My friend is there now and getting HORRIBLE care! The food is atrocious and her personal items are being stolen by the staff. The staff is impatient and yells at the patients. Currently she is in terrible pain and getting no help with being seen by a doctor. This is heartbreaking and wrong. A complaint is being sent today to the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services and as soon as possible, to other state authorities. This is unacceptable!
Barbara, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care and we want you to know that we take your concerns seriously. We would like to speak with you directly at your convenience. Please contact Anita Evangelista at (325) 701-9975.
Negative experience: My mother was in the ventilator with double phnemonia and the flu she has a tracheostomy and was doing good at Hendricks north hospital they sent her to this trashy horrible place after one day her trach was bleeding blood in her urine. No more she will not be sent back there period or I'll have a lawsuit just try me! Do not send ur family there they won't be cared for they'll be worse!
Shelia, our to priority is providing the most compassionate, safe and supportive care to our patients and we would like to speak to you directly regarding your recent experience. At your earliest convenience, please contact Anita Evangelista at 325-701-9975.
Negative experience: Horrible! Forgot to feed the new patient, lied about having something cooking for him when asked. After 30 more minutes I had to go to the kitchen myself where they had no clue what I was talking about. Was tossed a cold sandwich out of the fridge and told to grab something off the tray if I want it on my way out. Waited three days for an approval on a Zyrtec allergy pill. Nurse changed the catheter right before being discharged. Ended up in the hospital after realizing she didn't get it all the way up in the bladder before she inflated the balloon... When I called and spoke with her about this issue she said there was nothing she could do because we were no longer a patient. Both drivers that I encountered were super nice and the admissions girl was wonderful and a great sales person but definitely oversold actual truth of what this facility is. #ridiculous
Kristy Jo, our top priority is providing the most compassionate, safe and supportive care to our patients and we would like to speak to you directly regarding your recent experience. At your earliest convenience, please contact Anita Evangelista at 325-701-9975.
Positive experience: I had covid and spent 5 weeks in the hospital. The covid took away the use of my legs and arms so I was moved to silver springs. I have had nothing but problems and if not for son intercepting on my behalf it would be a nightmare. I agree with one of the other reviews about Kayla She is very rude and argues with patient Most of the nurses will not ask the Doctor for something I need or either I wait days and days and sometimes don't get it at all. There is 2 male aides Clifford and Ben who answers every call and polite and caring. One night they didn't even bring me supper and the food is horrible..like something poured out of a can. There is a younger aide named Robert and he comes quickly when called. My favorite nurse is Ellen who is a unique person and I am glad I met her. If someone is admitted and doesn't have someone to fight for their rights do not go there. I wish I could go home but I still can't walk. The rehab people are very nice. 90% of the staff are uncaring and the attitude..who cares if you are in pain or need to be changed or eat the food no matter how bad it is. I have sympathy for the long term people here ..to spend the last of their lives in a place like this .
Marilyn, our top priority the most compassionate, safe and supportive care to our patients and we would like to speak to you directly regarding your recent experience. At your earliest convenience, please contact Anita Evangelista at (325) 701-9975.
Fantastic experience: Very caring staff.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for taking such great care of my mother, Karen. Specifically, Care, Troy, Celina x 2, Nikki, Talitha, Paulette, Kerry, Shery, Alex, Andy, Tony, and Denise!
Our team always strives to go above and beyond, so we are thrilled to hear that your experience reflected that! Thank you for sharing, Kathleen.
Fantastic experience: As a current employee at Silver Spring, I am very honored and proud to be working for this facility. I have been here for a little over a year now and I've seen this place turn upside down and make a 180 degree turn to get to where we are now. Our current Administrator, Anita Evangelista is amazing! I can not brag enough about this woman. She came in here new to the facility and welcomed everyone! She takes care of urgent matters as soon as they happen and she will always get in touch with families if need be. Anita is wonderful at keeping everyone on track and is very understanding and patient and all of this describes our Director of Nursing, Paulette as well. Our Admissions team Cindy and Faith, are wonderful and they will answer any questions about our facility and help you to get in with no troubles. If you wanted to get a tour of our building, they are there to help and will set up the appointment for a tour. Our social worker Talitha is amazing, she has been here long before I have and the work she does is always on point. The residents love her and always ask for her and she delivers! Our Activities Director, Nekeela is fairly new but she has been doing great with the store runs for residents and getting what they request for, and when doing the activities with the residents, just walking by, the smile on their faces says it all! Our therapy department always has good reviews and really is a wonderful team to have working with us! The kitchen team is very hardworking and will always correct what needs to be corrected and that goes for our housekeeping team as well. Overall, I am PROUD to be here at Silver Spring and can't wait to meet all of the potential residents and employees!! Thank you for your time if you read this! Alixx Loya HR/Payroll
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Alixx. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Negative experience: Food substandard and cold. Had to remind nurses about everything medication shower etc no one in charge seems like to complain to
Harry, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care and we want you to know that we take your concerns seriously. We would like to speak with you directly at your convenience. Please contact our Administrator at 325-701-9975.
Negative experience: When my mother was first admitted the staff we very polite and very attentive. She was moved to the therapy side and they forgot to feed her 3 times. She was left in her urine soaked bed for 12 hours and left sitting in her own feces for 45 minutes. The LVN was very rude and yelling at my mom upsetting her. The reason she’s in the situation she’s in is because the last person that was screaming and disrespecting her caused a small heart attack and then a stroke. Her LVN Kayla in studying for her nursing degree. I really think she is in the wrong field if she doesn’t have patients and compassion for the sick and elderly. Make sure you stay attentive and involved daily with your loved one.
Carolyn, our top priority is to always deliver our patients with the highest quality of safe and compassionate care. We would like to speak with you directly at your earliest convenience. Please contact our Administrator at 325-701-9975
Negative experience: I coordinate patients at Hendrick Dialysis Clinic. I have already had two encounters with their staff being rude. The lady that brings residents for the appointments with us is just full of herself and acts like we owe her. Reception stuff at the facility is beyond rude answering phones, it feels like they don’t want to work there and you can literally hear it when they talk.
Iryna, our top priority at Silver Spring Health and Rehabilitation Center is to always deliver our patients with the highest quality of safe and compassionate care. We would like to speak to directly at your earliest convenience. Please contact Anita Evangelista at (325) 701-9975.
Negative experience: I wish I could submit a zero star review. Please do not allow your loved ones to be here! I have had two grandparents here for rehabilitation (one for broken pelvis and one for a broken hip) 5 years apart. BOTH grandparents were given wrong medication… multiple times… one time which caused a very scary episode that put him back in the ER and admitted to the hospital. My grandpa lives on oxygen, he went 2 full days without it due to the staff not giving it to him. We have had nothing but terrible experiences… please do not send your family member here. If a patient from silver springs is taken to the ER, the ER gives them narcan (same thing given to drug addicts that are found unconscious or suspected of overdose) upon arriving because so many patients are overly/ wrongly medicated so often from THIS SPECIFIC FACILITY. We have filed formal grievances against this facility, but the state takes a long time to take action (if they ever do). This review is meant to help family members who need to know that this place IS NOT AS IT SEEMS. It is a nightmare and has been for years.

Negative experience: My mother-in-law recently passed away after Silver Springs' employees, caring for her, brought COVID into the facility. We were all banned from seeing her for the previous ten months. We were safer than her caregivers. During her stay they broke her personal belongings and lost both her teeth and hearing aids. Basically my father-in-law paid $5000/month for substandard care for several years. They didn't even have the decency to attend her graveside services. Shame on them. AVOID taking your loved one to Silver Springs!

Fantastic experience: I am employed with Silver Spring and am so grateful to be a part of a wonderful team of healthcare workers. We love our residents and work very hard to provide a safe and healthy environment for them.
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Melissa. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: I really appreciated most everyone at Silverspring. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Roffers. I will definitely be calling to see if he is taking patients. I think he may be fairly new to Abilene, He was on top of everything before it became a issue. He was also very very kind. Ty for taking good care of my Mom! ~Amanda
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Amanda. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: My dad was in there for 3 years and they were so good to him. Having alzheimers made him a difficult man at times but they treated him like family and made him feel welcome even when he felt he was alone. Thank you for being a great facility!
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Dyana. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and facilities
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Ed. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Fantastic experience: Could not be more pleased with the care my Aunt received after staying at silver springs! Clean facility, nurses were polite and very knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone with loved ones that need the best care possible!
Thank you for sharing kind, genuine words, Melanie. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with everyone on our team.
Negative experience: Guess this place decided my last review wasn’t adequate and had it deleted.

Negative experience: Worst experience as a nurse. Management is rude. They do not care about nurses as long as the job is done. Very stressful job. Too many beds for one nurse. At night there is only one nurse for 4 hall of about 40 beds. No a good place for new nurses. No quality train is offer. Bad job.

Negative experience: The worse care I have ever seen in my 40 years of medical care. Abilene is simply horidh in the care gave my family. My next call is to Medicare, I am sure they will be interested.

Negative experience: I wish you could rate 0 because they did not bathe, shower or sponge bath my family member for over 2 weeks due to a infection. I am so digusted because regardless of your health status you should not be denied being cleaned. Also, every visit I was met with a heavily soiled diaper. Do not let this new building fool you. If a individual treated their family member this way Adult Protective Services would remove the patient and have the family charged with neglect. They should do the same to facilities.
