Negative experience: The worst place ever!!! I’ve been going here since my early teens I have an appointment rn I’ve been here for over 45 minutes and every single person that came in after me had seen the doctor before me literally the only one sitting in the waiting area Update: I ended up just rescheduling I sat there for almost 2 hours looking stupid

Negative experience: This place is incredibly dangerous for young adults trying to navigate their own mental health. We have been trying to get in to speak to a dr. Since July 2025, and we are now in October 2025. Every single time we have an appointment set up, and take off of work to be there, they say they do not have him in the system, and that his paperwork is nowhere to be found. Paperwork with his personal information, mind you. We even had an advocate work with us, and she was amazing! However, they also treated her the same way that they treated us and she’s an actual employee through Spindletop. They gave her the run around for 4 hours. All of the sudden they found his paperwork, and everything listed on his intake form was absolutely false information. They even said we never showed up for his appointment, and I said check y’all’s cameras! We were there every single time. But they sent us away. My son never spoke with anyone in intake, because they said he wasn’t in their system at all. My son left Spindletop today in tears saying he feels like no one cares, so why should he? He left this facility feeling worse than when he went in. On top of this? The ladies at the front desk were so hostile with him, he actually feels scared to go back. He’s scared of retaliation, more gaslighting, and more lies. This place is very unsafe, especially for those of us who are neurodiverse. We are still waiting on a supervisor to call us back, to get more info., but I’m guessing that was also a lie. We will never be back here. We ended up getting help at a different facility, same day walk in. Do your research y’all! Believe the reviews!

Fantastic experience: I've been using Spindletop my entire adult life. I can't express how grateful I am for the team and the services offered/available to me in my darkest moments. I can't understand some of these reviews as they just seem petty and not really about the service overall, but something they themselves didn't do and expected Spindletop to do it or anticipate it. That's not how it works. Anyway keep your head up team you're doing the best you can with the minimal resources offered by the state.

Negative experience: Due to lack of care I was put in the mental institution and lost my apartment , the doctors can cancel whenever they want and not put your medication in. They're allowed to say and do whatever they want and will send plain clothes officers to your front door.

Negative experience: If I could give this place negative 5 stars I would. Not only myself, but my little brother had a horrible experience here. Due to the lack of service he ended up in the mental hospital which could have been prevented had this place assisted him. Not only did they NOT assist him but they also discriminated him and wanted to search him because he had a backpack and was dressed NICE. I called to speak to the intake manager and left a message but she didn't even call back. This place doesn't care about YOU or YOUR mental health, you are NOBODY to them.

Fantastic experience: This is the only place available that is very supportive of individuals who are down and out due to substance dependence, or emotional instability or mental illness. They are truly overwhelmed and underpaid. They help adults and children. Help is almost nonexistent in Beaumont for those who can’t afford healthcare of this nature. Human mental recovery is handled here. The family system easily erodes without such repair and healing. Thanks for helping the people who seek healing their mind and body.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. My wife and I have been calling for 2 months. I got one call back and there systems were down. The manager said she was going to call back the next day and that was almost 3 weeks ago. This place does not care about there new or existing patients. It needs to have new management put in place and what ever else. They need to do a lot better.

Negative experience: It sucks to see a loved one try to get themselves the help they need and this place continues to give them the run around. He has tried since the end of March to get back on his medication. Finally was prescribed the meds May 25th now here we are June 21st and he still hasn’t gotten anything. And we call every other day to see if it’s ready. He’s gone back up there several times to ask in person. What do we need to do to get him his medication for his mental health? We’ve contacted both Beaumont and Silsbee location and nothing

Fantastic experience: Ashley is an amazing person. She did something so amazing. I still can’t believe she did that. Thank you so much Ashley if you happen to see this. I really needed that. She definitely is a blessing in the world. The best birthday present I’ve ever received.

Negative experience: This place needs to be closed down. It is dangerous and if nothing else, needs a security officer there at 7:30 am. It was a HORRIBLE experience and my husband went with me so he could see for himself and we have insurance. If this is all we have to choose from for help with insurance, we may as well not have insurance. The state needs to shut them down and SOMEONE in this area needs to open a decent facility preferably with a security guard and cameras.

Negative experience: Someone just called from one of the offices trying to pawn someone off on the facility in which I reside, but wouldn't let me speak to the patient. They then proceeded to hang up on, then call back one minute after. The manager of the facility I'm in answered, and she said I was being rude. He was standing next to me the whole time and informed her that I was not being rude, followed by her hanging up on him. I'm glad I'm not one of their patients, if this is how they conduct themselves professionally.

Negative experience: My sister went here last Thursday for an appointment due to she needed refills on her bipolar medicine which she has been out of for an month because her original doctor retired. This was the earliest that she can get on the date. Her appointment was at 12 & she didn’t get seen until 3:30. She spoke to the therapist for 30 minutes but the therapist didn’t prescribe any medicine nor give her any examples. Now she has to wait to see doctor next month & hopefully the doctor prescribe her something. What kind of place are they running? People are coming to them cause they’re mentally unstable & asking for an refill on their medicine. I mean she not there to get pills so she can get high on them. She is there cause her previous doctor retired & she already been diagnosed by the other doctor as bipolar. Oh I forgot to mention she is on Medicaid & everybody knows it’s much harder to find a doctor around here to take adult Medicaid. Hopefully this experience “complaint” will help someone out!

Negative experience: I am very disappointed, this was my favorite place and I have never had issues until the past recent months I feel so disrespected by them and unworthy of their time. I have called multiple times and no one picks up besides the person who re-directs the calls. I have been without medication for 2 months .. they know my medication causes withdrawals and they literally could careless. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: TERRIBLE AT PICKING UP PHONE CALLS!!!! NOT HAPPY!!! A waste of time. They probably have bad connection with phone calls but they are sooooo bad at calling back when I leave a message that is important to make appointments!!! Great place so and so I’d say average but only if they speak out to me and do their job and reach out to others on the phone I’d rate 5 stars. BUT A 1 FOR ME!!! I’m so mad and unhappy with how they dont call back when I left a message a few days ago and I never got a call back. Terrible. They aren’t trying hard enough and if they did they would’ve reached my phone calls.

Erica Lafleur 4 years ago

Positive experience: I changed my rating as I got a call momentarily after posting a negative review due to no call back after months of calls to this facility. So I was satisfied that they took my post seriously. If that is indeed what caused them to reach out so promptly this time. I will say for anyone wanting evaluation they are months out on appointments. I won’t be seen until mid April and it’s early feb. Just a heads up for anyone . I have used spindletop before and they did very well with me then. I’m hoping my upcoming appointment goes equally as well.

Fantastic experience: All of the staff was very welcoming to me and my toddler. They were wonderful with him!

Cassidy Jacks 5 years ago

Negative experience: I went here for a year for help with my depression. Now whenever I call for a refill on my prescription, they transfer me to an answering machine without fail, then ignores you when you try to talk to someone else. This is not a clinic that cares about the long-term mental health of it's patients. Furthermore, the staff here neglected to tell me about copays for several visits and incurred heavy costs to me.

Rona Ashcraft 5 years ago

Negative experience: I drove an hour and half and was stuck in traffic for an extra 20-30 minutes, just to be told once I arrive that the doctors aren't seeing anyone today and they aren't letting people get their medicine. I called the day before to confirm my appointment. Why couldn't they have told me this then! I drove 58 miles just to be told to come back Monday. (which is a federal holiday so they probably won't be open then.) Also a half a tank of gas was wasted all because they didn't tell me this the day before.

Fantastic experience: To say it was my first time going there I was very comfortable with everything and being there. I'm going back Thursday so I can finish my intake process and hopefully they are way better than the other place I used to go.

Negative experience: My appointments we're on time and stuff but e building where my boyfriend goes put him on housing and he got his voucher and they told him not to proceed until they done inspection 2.5 weeks later still haven't done it and landlords getting pissed they're not returning calls or anything really shitty housing system

Negative experience: Mhmr on 8th Street the wait time is ridiculously long the staff always talking and not working you are not there priority here they do not treat PTSD there main focus is bipolar adults you can not get medicine to help pick you up only slow you down i suggest finding another doctor if possible

raycean hollis 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: This location saved my life! They got me in treatment for addiction within days!!!

Meghan Randall 7 years ago

Negative experience: The wait is ridiculously long. Doctors are no help. They don't want to priscribe what your child has been taking for years.

Don Welkley 7 years ago

Negative experience: They always let you run out of medication for days before they request them. They dont release medical records required by law.

Johns Remodeling 7 years ago

Negative experience: Appointments are obsolete at this place. My wife had an appointment however reception allowed 3 others ahead of my wife stating they had earlier appointment. How is it possible at 8 a.m. and your doors unlock at 8 a.m. to let others arriving at 8.30 ahead of my wife. From this date forward all appointment will be video and audio recordings for filing formal complaint with state and federal government against staff

Judy Dunlap 7 years ago

Negative experience: Didn't really want to give them a one, but there's not a lower rating. It's bad when you have a child that has to be on medication to start with. Then this place has messed up my daughter getting her medicine on 2 different occasions. Like Dr Mormon but the staff could use a lot of work.

amanda loller 7 years ago

Negative experience: I've been out of my meds for 2 weeks thanks to them. I called the number for refills, then when I went to pick them up was told they weren't there because I had to call the clinic and have them call the refill in. I've never been told this before.

Jaye Beaumont 7 years ago

Positive experience: My first time there was ok and I was comfortable with the staff that helped. For the first time I was treated based on my illness and records not my appearance. Not everyone looks like what they've been through

Lisa Paige 8 years ago

Negative experience: Paper trail to u and ur family

Kristen Chandler 8 years ago

Negative experience: I came to Spindletop with the goal of bettering myself and lifting the situational depression that had plagued me since age eleven. I had had undiagnosed selective mutism which turned into depression and social anxiety. I was recommended to Dr. Mormon because of the treatment resistant nature of my depression. I functioned. I had a job and I never qualified for disability. I never had thoughts of harming myself (for many years) or others (ever), but I still wasn't happy with my life. In truth, this was because I had always been alone because of my social anxiety and was desperately unfulfilled in life. Wouldn't you be depressed if you had nothing in your life and never had? I set a goal for myself to become a foster parent, as my mother and grandmother had before me. I had been around foster children all my life as well as had many years caring for children, including helping raise my adopted (former foster child) special needs sister. The few people at Spindletop I told about this goal were supportive and urged me to continue on with the process, which included taking classes and getting my home inspected. For the first time in my life, I felt like I had a purpose. I had hope. Not only would I be helping myself but I would be helping others, which I've always heard is the best way to forget your own problems. I was honest with my assigned case worker about my depression and she said this would be no problem but that I would need a doctor's note to finish certification. I went into Dr. Mormon's office Monday expecting no problems when I told him my plans. However, as soon as the words came out of my mouth he shook his head and deemed the idea "too stressful." "Taking care of kids is stressful," he explained, even though at 37 of course I already knew that and I would estimate that about 99.99999% of his other patients had kids to take care of. He also explained that he had spent six years as a child psychologist and that may of his patients were foster children. I tried to educate him on the fact that due to the fact that I lived in a one bedroom apartment, I would only be allowed to take in babies under 3 years old and that the children with severe mental and physical problems are assigned to foster homes who receive special training in those fields, but his mind was already made up. I brought up the fact that I had always been entirely composed in his office and that nothing in my behavior would indicate that I was unfit to pursue foster care. He used the fact that I was crying right then as proof that he was right, though I would like to see how he would react if some cold, unfeeling person who didn't really know him used his power to murder his one last dream right in front of his face. So now I'm back to having no hope, no goals (because I'm obviously not equipped to do anything meaningful) and no life. I will just be sitting in my apartment with my cats for the rest of my life, being a "shut-in" (the type of person society makes fun of) because it hurts too much to go out and see everyone else living life when all doors have been shut to me to have any chance to do so. Seeing a doctor is supposed to make your life better and give you more opportunities in life, though in my case it was quite the opposite. A more streamlined version of my review of Spindletop is this: There are too many doctors who come and go. (Though Dr. Mormon should GO). Some are only seen on screen and none of them really get to know you and most don't seem to care or put forth any effort to understand. They think anyone who steps through that door is dangerous and go only by their textbooks and put patients in a box, whether they fit into one or not.

LaWonda Brown 9 years ago

Negative experience: Very unorganized with appointments. I called a week ago to get an appointment for my baby and they told us to call the day before, well, that was a rude waste! Now, I am left trying to find a doctor in Austin because my child is relocating and I am left with no help or medical records to help him relocate .
