Accel Rehab Hospital of Plano

Positive experience: My 82 year old mom broke her leg. We found the staff to be caring and attentive to her needs. The facility was clean. Physical therapy and occupational therapy were done 3 times per day. Prior to her release, the chief therapy officer went to her home to assess whether it was safe and could accommodate her wheelchair. I would recommend the facility based on our positive experience.

Fantastic experience: A great, modern facility for rehabilitation of all types. Individual therapy according to patient needs. Medicare accepted. As with any care facility family must let staff know any individual and unique patient needs. No facility is perfect, but Accel comes close. My 93-yr old mother-in-law is the patient as of this writing (10/11/13). Will update when discharged.

Fantastic experience: A great small facility with big emphasis on direct client relationships. They include the client experience from mind and body to nutritional needs. Modern technologies and warm private living spaces.

Fantastic experience: Recently I was in a terrible automobile accident hitting a vehicle backing down the Dallas Tollway against traffic at 60 mph. My wife was killed. I suffered severe muscular strains from the seatbelt and the airbag. Fortunately for me I was sent to Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in Plano for restoration. The staff there is GREAT! Particularly helpful therapists were John, Jacqueline, Joy, and the two Michala’s. They were very careful to give you exercises that you could handle, yet feel in the end that you had accomplished something and would be better for the next day. The nurses Mary, Carol, Joel, and Ray were always there day or night to provide comfort and medications as needed. They were assisted by Alison and Lolita who always checked to make sure I hadn’t fallen or tried something stupid. I am confident that my recovery would have taken much longer without their measured help. THANK YOU ALL!

Fantastic experience: Ihad a stroke on sep 14th and came here for rehab about a week later.when i got here i had speech problems, could not move my left lwg or arm. The Therapists are amazing and genuily care about the patients. I am about to go home in 2 days. I am not at 100% but i can use a wheelchair, walker and cane. It has been a struggle and i am very thankful for the assistance i have been given here. I am thankful and consider everyone to be a close friend.

Fantastic experience: Acute Rehab has staff unlike any other Rehab Hospital. From the beginning of their shift to the end they make sure you are happy, healthy, and very well taken care of. No matter the obstacle, the team will move quickly and efficiently to solve the problem and create a solution for future challenges. No matter what everyone has a smile on their face and a positive attitude. To say it’s an amazing environment is an understatement.

Fantastic experience: Excellent facility, three, 1 hour therapy sessions a day. Therapists were excellent & understanding, top notch , Dr & nursing above board, food quite good, especially since I have a very specialized diet, medications given right on. Very, very understanding of our family members & their concerns. Rate experience. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT.

Fantastic experience: I had the good fortune of being transferred here after I was completely paralyzed with a severe case of Guillian-Barre Syndrome (GBS). I was in extreme pain with muscle atrophy along with the paralysis from the GBS itself. I can't say enough about the staff here in Therapy, Nursing, and the Doctors were amazing. There are too many awesome healthcare providers here to name but special thanks to therapists Maisha and Christina, who I worked with the most. The hospital is bright, not gloomy, with nice rooms, which appear as though I was in a good hotel, vs the cold, sterile looking rooms at most hospitals, or what I've seen at other rehabilitation facilities. The food is fantastic and is far better than I've seen an any hospital. The therapy gym has high quality equipment to meet the needs of those needing physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Fantastic experience: My mom was admitted here for rehab after she suffered a bad injury. The staff and care are exceptional. They are compassionate and extremely caring. They treat all the patients and their families wonderfully and make sure all their needs are met. My mom benefitted tremendously from PT and OT. She is back to her baseline from before the injury. Best rehab hospital in the DFW area- hands down.

Positive experience: Great facility & Staff!! Excellent Nurses, Nurse Assistants & a Fantastic Therapy Team! They rehabilitated our Mother back to good health. She was able to come home better than before. She was always smiling and bragging on the the therapy team & Doctors. Positive experience: Sumer was a God send and I can’t thank her enough. She went above and beyond my expectations. There were a couple instances that I was made aware of after my mother’s release regarding nurses/aides refusing to assist her with a shower due to being overly cautious regarding her dialysis site and not having the necessary supplies to prevent it from getting wet. My suggestion would be ordering the plastic vaccum like coverings or provide additional training on how to bathe a patient under these conditions.

Fantastic experience: This is without a doubt the best rehabilitation facility I have stayed at. If ever I should need this type of care again, I would love to return here. Fantastic experience: My mother was here after her second hospital stay and I wish we would have found it the first time. The staff was attentive, the care very good and the physical therapy great. We wish Medicare would have allowed a longer stay.

Fantastic experience: My grandma, Terri Schroeder, has been to Accel twice. Both times she has been so impressed with the care provided to her and the physical therapy she recieved. The last time, she went in December 18th and was released back home by the 31st. The staff is so kind and the care is of the highest quality available. Me and her highly recommend and thank the staff at Accel!!!

Fantastic experience: My father has been in several rehab facilities in the last few years and this was the best. All of the staff were very capable and kind. Sumer, his case manager, stayed on top of his care and even set up future doctor appointments to make sure he received the care he needed. The facilities were very clean and attractive. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: My mother was at Accel after a stroke and my father-in-law was at Accel after a pacemaker placement. We received the best care from the nursing staff, the therapy team, and doctors. The food was wonderful and the kitchen staff was very helpful. My family highly recommends Accel Rehab!

Fantastic experience: My mother needed rehab after a fall and she made great progress in just two weeks. She felt well cared for by the staff.

Positive experience: The 3 stars are a average, the nurse, aids and food where great, the rehab dr was awesome, along with the med dr and psychologist. The neuro well if fashion was up for review would give a 5 as a dr a 1. The billing office, upper management and dr. Helped me through a huge financial misunderstanding that I can not say enough about and I thank them so much. . Now for the bad, 19 yrs of M.S.I have learned alot about therapy. They are probably good with geriatrics but not much more. The TV should be removed so patients and therapist arent distracted. You actually need to touch patients to work with range of motion and to help with the quality of the exercises, ok I will just end it with besides the weekend therapist , the ones I had where horrible and need to find another profession. I went there for help and ended up with a knee problem when I left, probably caused by to much bike time on a weak knee so they could wander.and now fighting pain and visits to ortho.. I give there therapist and dirty gym 1 star and beg them to contract with another company or staff there on. 3 hr. A week home health has given me better therapy than putting myself in a hospital enviroment just for sub par therapist.Buy them some elbow high gloves and some knee pads if thats what it takes and tell them to get in there and do some true hands on therapy. Love the hospital and staff and the maintenance manager was awesome and helped me jump off my car. but therapy they wasted my time

Fantastic experience: I was a student here for 2 months observing and engaging in every step of the day with the therapy staff. The therapy staff here are tremendous. They have such a passion for what they do, engage patients with conversation, empathize with struggles that each patient experience during this difficult time of their life, and help them to prepare for the next step in their life after their time at Accel. This is one of the most qualified and well equipped settings I've seen in my live after being at many types of therapy settings.
