I cannot say enough good things about this place. They are professionals that treat you like family and work hard to get you feeling great again. They are smart, compassionate and motivating – this team never stops amazing me with their talent, innovation, and success.
I had a hip replaced and they were great at strengthening the joint and increasing range of motion. Will go back when my other hip needs replacing. (Hoping that’s not necessary, of course!).
I love these people so much!! Elaine put got me back on my feet after I broke my ankle. We are back again after my daughter hurt her foot. The entire team is so professional but they make you feel like family.
I have had work on a sciatic nerve and shoulder and both experiences were wonderful. I learned a lot about my physiology as a result of their interactions.
When I had what many physicians and surgeons were convinced was a hernia, James was the first to correctly diagnose it as a groin injury and helped me rehab to 100%.
The people here are great, the people at the front and the therapists really seem to care and, the therapists are attentive and knowledgeable. Elaine got my back in shape and helped me keep it that way.

Austin Manual Therapy Associates: Reviews
Fantastic experience: GREAT EXPERIENCE, GREAT LOCATION Casey has a different way of approaching physical therapist than I had experienced in the past. I had been limited in walking with ankle and feet problems. With a trip to Greece on the horizon, we came up with a plan. Casey did a complete evaluation with baseline test. After a few months, and a successful trip we evaluated again, and validate what I already knew. The therapy worked great. I recommend him often to everyone that will listen. Planning my next trip. Thanks Casey
Fantastic experience: I came to James Harris at Austin Manual Therapy to rehab my knee. My orthopedic doctor had diagnosed a serious loss of cartilage between my knee cap and femur - a "bone on bone" situation. But he recommended I try physical therapy before moving to injections or surgery. James Harris at Austin Manual Therapy did a great job. He listened to my concerns, set goals, and worked with me to get there. He was part psychologist too, convincing me that just because I had worn away my cartilage did not mean I had to entirely give up activities I love. So far, so good - I am back to playing soccer, working in the yard, and exercising (with a reduction in the miles I run each week - got to be practical about it!). Along the way, we also fixed a lingering shoulder problem I'd had for years. I can actually throw a ball without grimacing anymore. I have seen some other reviews complaining about the folks at the front desk, but I never had anything but great interaction with them. So, we'll see how long my knee holds up, but with James' help, I hope to avoid needles and scalpels for as long as possible.
Fantastic experience: Christy was really professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Great experience..
Fantastic experience: Staff are professional and courteous. They all seem to know their stff, the intricacies of the bones, ligaments, muscles, etc. and how they are involved in various dysfunctions. Far, far better than seeing a chiropractor. Only downside for me is that they do not provide weight machine access.
Fantastic experience: Great place for PT. Love Christine Brown! She is highly attentive to each case (I personally had two overlapping) and makes the exercises achievable and productive.
Fantastic experience: Christine is very thorough & actively listens & responds accordingly. The interns are always on hand & ready to jump in. The front desk is efficient at juggling all the bookings -and everyone I’ve come in contact with treats me like a person first -not just a number or just a patient. Highly recommend this center to anyone needing PT!
Fantastic experience: Christine is warm and friendly, very attentive to my issues and very thorough! My pain is less with each visit!
Fantastic experience: Great, friendly, and educated staff! My PT is amazing and knowledgeable about my medical condition!
Fantastic experience: AMAZING! My experience here has trumped every other PT office I've been to. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful. There is easy access to an online portal created specifically for you, including all the recommended exercises and it will show exactly how many sets, reps, or the duration of how long to complete a certain exercise. This is so helpful when you need a little reminder of what exercise was recommended or how it's supposed to be done. I've dealt with chronic pain for years, and happy to say I no longer feel stuck in it.
Fantastic experience: My therapist provided specific information regarding what my body was doing to stress & cause pain & then specific exercises for me to align & strengthen pelvis/hips, muscles, etc. Amazing educational tools for self management & such an improvement in 6 weeks time.
Fantastic experience: The best PT group I have come across in 30 years. The physical rehabilitative care offered is excellent, through its thoroughness, professionally delivery and its targeting of the individual's needs, and their goals. Their caring, targeted approach that involves careful listening, as well as best practice PT methods, helps ensure the patient's physical activity, behavior outside of the treatment center doesn't land them right back into the center. I highly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: My therapist, Christine, pays close attention to my description of the problem in my left hip, and thinks carefully about the limited information I am able to provide. Christine is an excellent communicator and listener. She also carefully observes my movements to help her figure out what is going on. Finally, she recommends specific exercises based on her understanding of my problem, for the clinic, and at home. While it is hard to say how effective the treatments are so far, the problem in my hip has not been showing itself lately- an encouraging sign.
Fantastic experience: I don’t live in Austin but went to Austin for both my knee replacements. They treat each patient personally. It’s not a one shoe fits all place. They cater to your needs. I highly recommend Austin Manual Therapy.
Fantastic experience: These people are fantastic. From the front staff to each PT, they are caring, thorough and positive to get you to keep going on your PT goals! You think you're walking into a zoo because the place is so busy, with almost all the equipment being used simultaneously. I had the good fortune to have Kathryn as my therapist. She was challenging but not a drill sergeant. She also did not reprimand me if I had not done too many exercises between visits. Her positive reinforcement was quick and frequent, so things finally got into my pointy little head and my muscle memory. They helped me with a "Taylor's Bunion" issue that turned out to be a heavy callous because I was supinating while walking. I felt like I had to learn how to walk all over again, as well as get into and out of chairs, sofas, etc. correctly, and other things before I "graduated," but I did!! My PT plan promises to be quite useful from here on out. Thank you, AMTA & Kathryn!
Fantastic experience: I had my first experience at Austin Manual Therapy yesterday. From my original phone call to schedule (I got in the same day in the afternoon due to a cancellation), to arrival and being greeted by an amazing administrative support team, to meeting my therapist, Christina, to the session with her to assess my condition/situation, and until I left to reschedule -- there was not one miss in all of it. My therapist, Christina, is knowledgeable, an excellent listener and she of course had to hear all of my stuff, about which she was very attentive and patient. Her assessment was both focused and thoughtful and done with wide consideration of possibilities and explained to me so that I could easily understand. There exercises I was give to do prior to my next appointment were not overwhelming and I appreciated that a great deal. I do honestly feel better today knowing that I am in a good therapeutic environment of professionals who know what they are doing and believe in the work they do for the patient.
Fantastic experience: Beginning with my initial phone call to inquire about services and scheduling and continuing through the completion of my treatment plan I experienced first rate service in all areas and from all employees at Austin Manual Therapy. The office staff is knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. All communication — in person, on the phone, via text and email — was prompt, clear and thorough. The clinic is very professional and pleasant. Ben Keene, co-owner, was my therapist. In our initial phone consultation he clearly explained the philosophy of the clinic, what to expect in terms of treatment plan and the administrative details. Ben was the only therapist who treated me and I was his only patient for each of my one hour sessions. He spent a good amount of time to clearly understand the issue and to explain his treatment and the reasons behind it. He is very knowledgeable and has years of experience. Ben was very patient to answer questions and to educate me so that I could feel confident knowing how to continue progressing when the treatment ended. He also made certain I could easily contact him at any time after treatment ended if I had any questions or problems. My experience with Austin Manual Therapy was among the best I’ve had with a healthcare provider and I would highly recommend the practice.
Fantastic experience: Far West location of Austin a Manuel Therapy was the best. I had just had surgery on my cervical spine and Dan Cole was fantastic. He spent time at every session listening to victories and concerns. It was not about just do this and you will be fine. My pain at this point was more nerve issues and inflammation. This was last summer today I am in the gym 5-6 days a week and feeling great. I still have some numbness in my hands but I also have the tools to make it go away quickly. I learned more about nerves and how they travel. Thank you Dan. You are a fantastic therapist. I recommend you to all my friends hopefully they are showing up.
Fantastic experience: James Harris and all the staff at Austin Manual Therapy are just awesome. The level of professional care and results far exceeded any expectations I ever had. I will never go anywhere else but Austin Manual Therapy!! Absolutely the best!!
Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with Austin Manual Therapy. I had physical therapy before & felt like I got nothing out of it. This was completely different. I had hip pain for 4 years. It took a couple of months but I am now pain free. The same thing happened with my knee. Both were related to life long posture issues. That shocked me because I have been doing yoga for over 40 years! I still needed help with my posture....which, from my understanding, is the cause of a huge percentage of pain issues.
Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to my primary care physician for referring me to Rolando Salinas at Austin Manual Therapy for a neck/shoulder condition in late 2018. Several months later I sustained a broken humerus requiring surgery with the placement of pins. This has involved extensive and ongoing therapy, again under the care of Dr. Salinas. I am extremely thankful for his extraordinary care. His knowledge has been evident in his treatment plan(s) for me with ongoing issues related to the injury and surgery. In addition his professionalism, patience and perseverance with all the ups and downs has been exceptional. While "Roly" has been my therapist, I have also had interactions with James Harris, one of the owners and I have observed all of the therapists at the Far West location. From my first phone call and through all of my visits over18 months or so----the entire staff---from therapists, receptionists to insurance filing and therapy assistants---everyone has been incredible. As my therapy comes to a close I will not hesitate to return for any future need and I recommend this clinic whole-heartedly and especially my therapist.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding service from the time I check in through the time I leave. Dan, my PT, is knowledgeable, answers all my questions and makes sure I am completing my exercises correctly. Improvement has been slow but steady with my condition.
Fantastic experience: I really recommend Austin Manual Therapy. Everyone is friendly and helpful, from the front desk to their large physical therapist staff. In particular, I’ve worked with James Harris and Justin Guillot. They have helped me with hip, knee, and ankle problems, as well as gaining overall better posture. They put you at ease, right from the start, and are very good about determining what type of exercises are needed to help you. They are very personable, too. I actually look forward to my appointments. Also, I love the atmosphere there. They have a wall of windows that looks out into treetops, and makes the whole place bright and cheery. The equipment is cleaned before and after each patient. They are taking special care to not allow any exposure to COVID, for their patients, too.
Fantastic experience: James & Justin treated me for a clavicle surgery, and I couldn't have received better therapy. These guys are pros. They meticulously assessed my situation and tailored a custom plan. They also explained every movement and what process/outcome we were targeting, which helped me fine-tune the exercises. The staff are on point - scheduling and payments were very easy. I hope to not need their services again, but if I do, AMT will be my first call. Thanks, gents! Very grateful.
Fantastic experience: A wonderful and unique PT experience with experienced physical therapists who quickly identify your problems and get you back to where you want to be. I recommend this PT group highly and without reservation. They are consummate professionals and compassionate in their approach. Julia Lapo and James Harris make an amazing difference in your health and well-being.
Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable staff. I truly appreciate the hands-on therapy and the excellent instruction given to enable self-care and wellness for everyday living. I was first referred by a doctor to Austin Manual Therapy Associates about ten years ago. Since then, I specifically request this physical therapy group. Over the years, I have seen several different therapists - Ben, Mary, and Elaine - and believe you can’t go wrong.
Fantastic experience: Austin Manual Therapy Associates is the best PT clinic I have ever gone to. Two different PT offices misdiagnosed me before I went to see AMT co-owner James Harris, who got the true picture quickly and started effective therapy. He took the time to really get to know me, not just my injuries. I have never felt rushed through, and have always been treated with patience and a smile by everyone I’ve encountered at the clinic. If you need PT, hobble over to AMTA!
Fantastic experience: I always get positive results after I have a session with Elaine Tsay. 5 years ago I had neck and upper back pain and she gave me the tools to eliminate my pain and this time with my hip and lower back. She is extremely knowledgeable, listens, is caring, encouraging and upbeat! She has endless energy and motivates me to do my exercises to continue to live an active life.
Fantastic experience: I love these guys! Seven years ago I had a full knee replacement and they got me back to normal. This time, I have had issues with my other knee for 6 months...they have me on the road to recovery in a couple of weeks! Justin has been working on the root causes of my problems, not just treating symptoms! I went to a different group and after two visits I was SO upset, I called my Ortho doc and told him I wanted to go back to Austin Manual Therapy. They are just as wonderful know as they were 7 years ago! Don't settle for a mediocre physical therapist, if you don't feel like you are improving, I highly recommend Austin Manual Therapy Associates!
Fantastic experience: Smart, functional, ergonomic therapy delivered by highly trained expert therapists. They were extremely helpful with a foot problem and now just as good with a knee issue. I strongly recommend them
Fantastic experience: Since I've had 2 knee replacements and now am receiving help for sciatica, I can say without reservation that Austin Manual Therapy is the only place I would ever go to. In fact a year ago, a friend said that her husband had been going to physical therapy with poor results, so I recommended Austin Manual Therapy. He was delighted with the results. At one physical therapy group I had tried because their name was on a list from my orthopedic surgeon', the therapist pushed me into exercises like she was training Simone Biles. I was over 70 then and the treatment hurt then and afterwards. For my second knee replacement I went to Austin Manual Therapy and Olivia Holme worked with me firmly but gently and I recovered much faster. Now I'm working with Julia Lapo to ameliorate sciatica. She's great and I'm already making progress. Don't take chances. Go to Austin Manual Therapy.
Fantastic experience: My experience at Austin Manual Therapy was outstanding. From the very first phone call to get setup as a patient to the online check-in process and the actual therapy sessions. Everyone was very helpful, kind, and professional. Thank you so much!
Fantastic experience: I have had a lot of PT in recent years, but hands-down the best provider has been Austin Manual Therapy. My physical therapist, Role, is extremely knowledgable, patient, personal, and professional. AMT has a warm and positive atmosphere, and I always look forward to my appointments there.
Fantastic experience: The administrative staff is friendly and helpful. Ben treated my daughter after a car wreck. He explained all aspects of evaluation and treatment in a way that she could understand. She had an excellent outcome and her back/neck pain was alleviated. I highly recommend Ben and all staff at Austin Manual Therapy Associates!
Fantastic experience: Ben and his team did a wonderful job observing, assessing and communicating my daughter’s back issue. He gave a visual on the area, exercises and stretches for repair and great professionalism. We definitely recommend Austin Manual Therapy.
Fantastic experience: Rolando was very knowledgable and gave me excercises where I could notice improvement right away My previous PT that my Doctor referred to me did not have the knowledge or the overall demeanor and approach that Rolando has. If you want to get better as fast as possible in positive atmosphere I recommend Rolando and Austin Manual Therapy Associates !
Fantastic experience: These folks are great. Jackie and Rolando helped me recover from shoulder surgery and a torn ankle ligament and made me good as new, which is a lot for a 73-year-old man. I have had PT before, but have never before been so accommodated or received such careful and helpful attention. Their friendliness and professional competence begins at the front door and never falters.
Fantastic experience: Elaine Tsay is an excellent therapist. I have had a problem with chronic pain, slurred speech, poor hand writing, and poor balance for ten years. I have been to too many health care providers and taken too many treatments to list. In just twenty minutes, Elaine produced a theory of the problem’s cause and provided a solution that immediately reduced the pain and improved the remaining symptoms. I have yet a long way to go to achieve total recovery, but for the first time in a long time I have hope. This is due to the skill, kindness, and sincerity of Elaine and all the folks at Austin Manual Therapy.
Fantastic experience: During the first 2 months of the pandemic lockdown, I could feel my body losing whatever strength I had. I'm 79 and have had multiple hip and back surgeries. I started to have serious back pain and random pains in my lower back, hip and thigh. Doctor said I had perhaps lost core strength so spine not getting enough support. Knew I needed therapy to regain my strength. I had been to Austin Manual a couple of years ago after my surgery so knew I wanted to come back there. It's actually a pleasure to visit. All the therapists are so nice and friendly. I know I'm getting stronger, and it's pretty much the only social interaction I get during this pandemic. I highly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: I have been to two other physical therapy groups, and this one is the best by far. My therapist has taken lots of time to determine what I want to achieve with my therapy and how best to help me achieve it. He has helped me to learn a slightly different way to walk, a slightly different way to get up from a chair, a slightly different way to pivot, and a lot of other small "tweaks" to help alleviate my knee pain. He has also paid careful attention to my questions and tried to answer them all. The therapy has been great, and the overall experience has also been great. I thoroughly recommend Austin Manual Therapy.
Fantastic experience: Olivia @Austin Manual Therapy is a terrific therapist. She took a lot of time to diagnose my foot problem and make a plan for my therapy. She's very professional, but also warm and caring. I highly recommend her and Austin Manual Therapy.
Fantastic experience: Justin is amazing. Within minutes he was able to see that I don’t need surgery despite three other opinions to the contrary and an MRI that indicated surgery for a slap tear. Justin assessed my symptoms and limited range of motion then with gentle manipulation and simple exercises to help me with my posture was able to take my shoulder pain from a constant level 10 down to about 2 or 3. I would recommend him to family in a heartbeat!
Fantastic experience: I cannot be more grateful for the service and staff at Austin Manual Therapy. I worked with Elaine Tsay, who may very well be a wizard. She was able to diagnose and assist with pain I've been experiencing for almost 2 full decades. The professionalism of every member of the staff I've encountered has been remarkable, especially as I was around during the beginning of the pandemic. They worked very well to ensure that we everyone was safe while still being treated. I've been working with different PTs for almost 20 years, and these folk have absolutely been the best!
Fantastic experience: Elaine Tsay is the most amazing physical therapist I’ve ever worked with in the 35 years I’ve been an athlete, runner, triathlete and mountaineer. She is brilliant, thorough, encouraging, caring and committed to your recovery. The Manual Physical Therapy approach identifies and resolves the root of your problem so you don’t get reinjured.
Fantastic experience: I am not really a big of fan of PT - it means I did something big and bad. In this case, it was years of big and bad (knee replacement) and I was a little nervous about going in. I've had PT from other providers, and it kind of seemed - mmm? like I should have done better? I'll be frank, I was freaked out on the first day because I got lost, but everyone was as kind as they could be. Ryland walked me through getting there, and then Roli started evaluating my progress. I never was made to feel like I slacked off, my weight was an issue or that this would go on for years. Here's one of the fantastic things about Austin Manual Therapy Associates - you work with the same therapist from the day you walk i until the day you are done. That's wonderful, because I don't have to explain something or re-establish a new bond of trust. That's the other thing they do surprisingly well - you go in and they make you feel that you can trust them to to help in the healing process, and they trust you to set reasonable limits for pain or flexibility. I'll be sad when my PT is done, because I won't be going into a clean, organized, well thought out office staffed with Austin's best. But I'll feel healthier and stronger, and know that they're about to work their magic on someone else.
Fantastic experience: I am grateful for the loving care I have received from James at Austin Manual Therapy. He listens, and my condition since my back surgery has steadily improved thanks to his treatment and suggestions. All of the staff are kind, professional and helpful. I have recommended AMT to several friends who have had very positive experiences and feel they have found the help they needed. AMT is wonderful.
Fantastic experience: Rotator cuff injuries are very tricky and I was able to avoid other extreme solutions by working with James Harris and crew. What an incredible experience. It was hard work but I felt safe during Covid and in such skillful hands. My shoulder and arm movements are back to 98% range of motion and I received the best possible education about how to go forward and not recreate damage. Don't wait, don't stay in pain. These are the best people.
Fantastic experience: The front desk staff are friendly and professional. And my therapist, Elaine Tsay, was outstanding - very knowledgeable about anatomy and body mechanics, great at explaining the exercises and rationale behind them, and focused on my whole body in order to prevent future injury. Not to mention she's a really nice and caring person!
Fantastic experience: Austin Manual Therapy helped me recover from years of plantar fasciitis. I would like to thank my physical therapist Olivia. She worked with me for several months. She was patient me and explained things to me very clearly. The entire staff was wonderful. I am about 95% recovered and confident that soon I will be fully recovered. I highly recommend Austin Manual Therapy!
Fantastic experience: After experiencing an intensely painful and sudden problem with my back, my friends convinced me to give physical therapy a try and suggested Austin Manual Therapy. Within the first few minutes of my first appointment, PT Julia was able to spot and explain the major issue causing my pain, and went through a set of movements that made a huge difference for me before I even left the office. She provided a series of exercises and movements for me to do at home, and added to them gradually in future visits. She was easy to talk to, explained things clearly, and made the whole physically painful experience super pleasant. I'm no longer in Austin, but would absolutely recommend this thoughtful and professional practice to anyone who is in the area. Thank you to Julia and everyone at AMT!
Fantastic experience: After my knee injury I was searching for a good PT and Olivia has been wonderful! She's really helped with my recovery as well as kept me motivated. I'd definitely recommend her!
