An integrative physical therapy practice providing specialized, one-on-one care for complex conditions. Dr. Lipe specializes in John Barnes Myofascial Release, Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy for all genders, sports and orthopedics, Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, Hypermobility, trauma recovery, and more.

Integrative treatment of a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain. Often involves biomechanical analysis, targeted exercises, joint mobilization, trigger point release, cupping, kinesiotaping, and Advanced Myokinesthetics, among other techniques.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders are complex chronic conditions that often involve increased laxity in the connective tissue, chronic instability, autonomic dysfunction, gut issues, myofascial pain, and many other disabling symptoms. My own journey with EDS has given me a passion for finding and developing specific techniques to help those with EDS/HSD find greater function and fulfillment.

During times of trauma, research shows our bodies do an amazing job of holding onto forces, energies and memories that we can't deal with at that time. Often times we dissociate from parts of our bodies as a safety mechanism. Over time if this trauma is not released it can have a negative effect on many bodily functions. I use a blend of myofascial release and principles of Peter Levine's somatic experiencing to help you permanently release this trauma and feel at home in your own body again.

My name is Kendel Lipe and I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  I'm an outdoor enthusiast, endurance athlete, engineer, and healer. My mission is to provide a unique and specialized approach to physical therapy, seeing every patient one-on-one and empowering them with tools to lead their most fulfilled life.

I look beyond your muscles and joints to the many facets that interact with your symptoms - your nervous system, connective tissue, posture, lifestyle and story.

To do this, I use a combination of advanced manual skills, Myokinesthetics, Myofascial Release, neuromuscular reeducation exercises, mindfulness training, trauma reintegration, trigger point dry needling, and much more.

I am committed to spreading awareness globally regarding pelvic floor dysfunction and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and to providing services for those nationally and internationally who can not otherwise access it. 10% of all proceeds go towards these causes.

I am a 71 yr old woman who, for the past 11 months, has been unable to function due to a complex combination of neurological and musculoskeletal issues. After several frustrating months of being viewed as isolated body parts by various specialty doctors and physical therapists, Dr Kendel Lipe is a breath of fresh air—a wonderful balm for my body, mind, and soul. After discovering Dr. Kendel, I knew at the first visit that I was in the right place. She clearly has high ethical and professional standards, and it is easy to tell how much she cares about her patients. Her expert training in a wide variety of both conventional and science based alternative techniques gives her the tools to truly provide an individualized approach to wholistic care. She’s a true problem solver and loves to keep digging until we get to the root cause of things. She also has Millie--the best therapy dog in the entire world!

Dr. Lipe a delightful, intelligent and grounded doctor and am so thankful I was referred to her. One of her specialities is in dysautonomia and she uses a variety of techniques to affect the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems including deep myofascial release, cupping, pt tape, vasovagal stimulation, and others. I know all these because she explains the science behind her techniques and if it is something I can do at home, she shows me how to do it. She is very in tune with circulation and energies in the body much based on her own experience with dyautonomia as well as her qualifications in PT and deep myofascial tissue work. She tailors each session to you and gives excersises to strengthen and maintain that energized feeling from the sessions.

Our goal is always to provide the highest level of specialized care, filling our time with exactly what you need and not what is dictated by insurance companies.

In order to do this, we have chosen not to contract as an in-network provider with any insurance company and do not bill your insurance directly. All payment will be required in full at the time of service. However, we can provide you with a superbill you can submit to your insurance company directly for out-of-network coverage and reimbursement.

If you have questions about our pricing, how payment and reimbursement work, or simply want to call to discuss your symptoms and if we would be a good fit for your needs, please click here to a free 10 minute phone consultation!

Fantastic experience: Laura Wilson is an amazing practitioner and healer. She really listens and is very skilled in many different approaches. I have had some truly amazing breakthroughs since starting to see her a few months ago. She takes time to listen to your body and has been able to trace patterns of dysfunction back to their source, healing them from however they started. She is trauma informed and often sees past what is going on physically to the underlying emotional connections and traumas that cause certain compensatory patterns, really seeing things in a holistic way that takes your entire history into account. She has a gentle but effective touch and uses many different modes of healing, and is also able to adapt to each patient's comfortability. As someone with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos, I have had many injuries that never quite healed and have been causing problems ever since, but after spending just a couple sessions with Laura on each area, they have improved more than I thought possible for someone like me. I have felt so much physical relief in areas I thought would be a constant source of pain for the rest of my life. And that's not to mention the emotional weight that seems to be lifted after each session with her, as well as the deep psychological breakthroughs that have accompanied the release of these of painful patterns. I cannot recommend her enough!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Laura Wilson at Phoenix is frankly everything you could ask for in a healthcare provider. I highly recommend her to anyone dealing with pelvic floor issues, especially with complex health issues/injury/trauma. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, intuitive and curious. You will not feel like you're on the medical conveyor belt here. Dr. Laura has some incredible methods and modalities in her toolbox and you can tell she is always learning and exploring new ideas that can help her patients heal more quickly and more completely. As someone with long-term complex health issues and pain, I often find it hard to articulate my symptoms but Dr. Laura is an outstanding listener and knows how to help her patients listen to themselves, value the insight of their own experiences and sensations and work through long established physical and emotional patterns that can cause and/or contribute to chronic pain. If you are interested in exploring how the mind/body connection impacts your health, I cannot recommend Dr. Laura enough. Starting pelvic therapy could be intimidating for many people but as soon as you meet Dr. Laura, you are put at ease by her warm and welcoming demeanor. In my first meeting with her, she made me feel less anxious and HOPEFUL about a future with less pain and more freedom. As I've worked with her, I've seen what incredible empathy and human connection she brings to her work. After just a few visits, I'm feeling so much better and have gained immense insight and tools I can use to heal myself!

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful for Dr. Laura Wilson. From the start she approached all of my problems with compassion and empathy. I have had quite a few different things going on and she has made time for each one and fully invests her time in me. She has sent me multiple resources to back up what she shows me to help me empower myself and learn how to help myself outside of the clinic. No matter what I am feeling that day, she always teaches me new things to add to my mental toolbox. I have learned so much from her since my first session and I could not be more thankful. I have had such a positive experience working with her and have been feeling amazing throughout all of her help. I couldn't recommend her enough. If you have had trouble finding doctors that care about your symptoms, look no further! You will not be just a number here, you will be treated as a human being whose symptoms are real and valid.

Fantastic experience: I'm so glad I found Dr. Kendel Lipe. It's astonishing how much she knows about her craft, the human body in general, and numerous methods to treat various and lots of times - complex body issues/dysfunctions. I've never met a PT like her. She is patient, kind, an advocate, and genuinely cares for the people she treats. Go to her website and read about her. She is truly an inspirational human being.

Fantastic experience: I am so incredibly thankful to Dr. Lipe for her mad skills and essentially giving me my life back after having been incapacitated with excruciating lower back pain for a solid month. After only two sessions and following a series of exercises she designed for me, I was back to 100% in just a couple of weeks. I really wish I had gone to her sooner. I won’t hesitate to go back to her in the future when needed! Can’t recommend her enough!!!

Fantastic experience: My young daughter had neck pain for over a year and no one from an orthopedist to a rheumatologist to an anxiety therapist could help. We were essentially told her pain was psycho-somatic. I refused to give up and we were lucky to find Kendel! My daughter is now pain-free much of the time and has exercises and support when she has pain. Our whole family has started seeing Kendel. She is incredibly smart and uses traditional Western knowledge and cutting-edge treatment to alleviate pain. Best of all, she LISTENS (unlike every other doctor) and makes my daughter feel empowered and strong. Kendel is a gifted, life-changing practitioner. We are so happy to have her in our lives.

Fantastic experience: Austin and would even recommend traveling to see her, which I don't say lightly; those of us with complex illness often spend a fortune on false hope. She is not a clinician who wants you to be her patient forever. She wants us to heal, learn, and manage our bodies ourselves. We have seen her ~12x over 6 weeks; I'm eager to see how far we can progress over the next few weeks. Note: this doesn't mean you'd need that long; my teen has very severe pain and a lot of complications. Still, she feels better with every visit. So far, my teen's improvement in functioning has been notable. She used to spend 100% of the day lying down in bed, aside from clinical visits, and use a power wheelchair for outings. Even sitting up was too painful. Now she drivers herself around town to hang out with friends and often leaves the wheelchair in the car. She goes up and down the stairs several times a day. She even went for a short hike! I can’t wait to see what’s next. I highly recommend even a single visit. You will walk out with new skills, and feeling better and hopeful.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lipe is truly gifted, and the most knowledgeable and effective therapist with whom I’ve ever worked. She offered me solutions and gave me hope where I had reached dead ends everywhere else. She has completely changed my life and helped me to steer a different course for myself after 35 years of accepting pain. Dr. Lipe’s practice is not cookie-cutter. Her passion and medical detective skills make her treatment completely personalized. She will empower you with the tools you need to heal and care for yourself.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lipe is an extraordinary healer. Her skill set is far superior to any therapist I’ve seen in the past. I am a 71 year old man with chronic pain. I have Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. In addition, I am caring for my wife who is battling two separate cancers and I fear is nearing the end. Dr. Lipe has a kind, loving heart and treats me both physically and emotionally. My stress level is often off the charts. After treatments I leave her office pain free and totally at ease. As a long term caregiver her support and caring has been invaluable. She truly cares about her patients.

Fantastic experience: I started seeing Kendel after injuring my knee in a skiing accident. After one session I immediately noticed a huge difference in pain and flexibility. I will definitely be seeing her again for any problems is the future.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lipe’s gentle and confident demeanor made me feel comfortable enough to not only share really personal information about issues I was having with my pelvic floor, but also feel safe enough to actually accept the help that I needed. She took the time to listen and understand my history. She is professional and effective. Thanks to Dr. Lipe, I finally got the relief I needed and was able to move on and enjoy parts of my life that I had been missing.

Fantastic experience: From day one, my physical therapist Kendel Lipe - sounds funny even saying ‘my physical therapist’ because over the course of a short amount of time she became ‘my friend’. Kendel has been there - above and beyond - in every aspect of not only giving me tools to rehabilitate my back and neck after a vehicle rollover that happened 2 years ago, but through every other aliment (from my battles with Wartime combat-related traumas to my pelvic floor instability from the physically demanding work of being a Federal Hotshot Firefighter) she has held my hand through it all. The passion she has for the work she does is easily reflected in her depth of understanding of how the body works, and then her ability to simplify it in a palatable way shows how much she really cares about making a difference in people’s lives. If you’ve tried everything to work through your mobility/pain issues and can’t seem to find anything that works, I would highly recommend just trying one session with Kendel Lipe at Phoenix Physical Therapy & Wellness.

Fantastic experience: I started seeing Dr. Lipe after I severely sprained my ankle and could not get the swelling to subside. Dr. Lipe is super knowledgeable and I appreciate how she takes the time to explain the science behind the treatments she is doing to address my injury. I definitively recommend going to her if you're looking for a PT.

Jillian Herstein 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: I started seeing Dr. Lipe as a patient in December 2020, and I’ve experienced more dramatic improvement in my joint pain than with any other provider. Although I was initially referred to Dr. Lipe for pelvic floor therapy, her knowledge extends to other areas of concern. During our first visit, she asked me what I wanted out of our time together; I replied that I hoped she could offer a more “whole body” approach to my pain. Dr. Lipe delivered and far exceeded my expectations; her practice seamlessly integrates myofascial release, myokinesthetics, dry needling, and at-home exercises, just to name a few. She is extremely knowledgeable about hypermobility and Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which is hard to come by in Austin. Dr. Lipe addresses not just my hip instability, but EDS-related pain in my knees, feet, and even neck and shoulders. If you are looking for an intelligent, compassionate, and personable PT, I highly recommend Dr. Lipe.

Fantastic experience: I've struggled with hypermobility and chronic pain since I can remember, but as soon as I fell pregnant, it became debilitating. I was told by other practitioners that it would only get worse as the baby grew. My sacroiliac pain was so bad when I first saw Dr Kendel around 20 weeks, I told her my goal was to be able to get in and out of the car. I'm now 38 weeks and just went on a 4mile hike with minimal flare up. I've lost count of the number of physical therapists I've seen over the years (living two countries). Kendel is the first to be unsurprised by my plethora of chronic symptoms, and up for the challenge of working with me holistically and individually. I'll be sure to keep working with her post partum and can't wait to see what else I can achieve with her expert treatment!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lipe uses integrative Physical Therapy to provide one-on-one treatment for various conditions from hyper mobility syndrome to pelvic floor rehab! She is personable, provides individualized care, and is extremely caring and compassionate. She truly works with each patient to formulate a treatment plan to address various conditions. Her approach is multifaceted as she always takes the time to better understand her patients as a whole and determine what skills/interventions will help her patients the most. The one-on-one sessions allot Dr. Lipe to address any questions and concerns and allow her to truly provide quality care. Will highly recommend Dr. Lipe to anyone looking for quality care!

Fantastic experience: I have had a lot of PT over the years and Kendel is one of the most flexible therapists I've had. She adapts every appointment to what you need in the moment, while also including things for your long term care. She has been able to make my body feel better, and give me tips to "fix" myself on my own between appointments. She has a lot of knowledge of chronic illnesses, like Ehlers Danlos, which I suffer from. PT with her is about managing your health to improve your life. She does a lot of reading on her own time about various chronic illnesses as well as new and different PT techniques. PT with her has also improved my mental health! I really like her philosophy when it comes to treatment.
