Fantastic experience: 1. This is not a Nursing Home. 2. This is not a Hospice Center. 3. This is a Top Tier Physical Rehab and Speech therapy center. My extremely better half was here for 10 days due to a total knee replacement. From beginning to end, these fine ladies and gentlemen took care of all her needs from intake to release. The entire team really shined! From the doctors, nurses and Physical therapists, nothing was left to chance. The facilities are spotless from top to bottom. As someone who has spent many months in rehab. I have to say I wasn't treated anywhere near the service provided @ this center. If you are able, this is the only place to heal here in the lower valley.. I'm in your gratitude.. Plotted. Scouts out. #602A.

Fantastic experience: As an outpatient here at South Texas Rehab, the staff here was very friendly and welcoming. I arrived with a post-surgery broken arm, and the physical therapists I had were very outgoing, and as an introvert, helped me open up and feel comfortable by making conversations with me. They would help me in the best ways possible throughout my recovery process and give me tips and exercises to do at home to help the process. I would also look around at the other therapist with the patients, and they were amazing. They would treat them like family while also assisting them with their needs. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone who needs to receive any kind of health care and rehab.

Fantastic experience: After my moms knee surgery, she heard South Texas Rehab was the hospital to be at. She was not disappointed ,the rehab was great and she was able to walk again with no device! Awesome job STRH!!

Fantastic experience: My wife, Kathie(room 411)was a PT at this facility for 2 weeks and 3 days. Everyone from the Nurses, the RT and OT staff the PCT staff, the people who greeted me up front, the maintenance staff, the Security, Dr A and Dr Hussain , Case Managers, eand A. Cepeda were class A TO the Nth degree. The food was wonderful. You have a FABULOUS Facilty. Please do all you can, including Salary and thank you benefits so everyone will stay. Fantastic experience: I went there for an evaluation for inpatient care and was very impressed with their staff and how comfortable they made me feel.

Negative experience: The first night my mother was there the staff ignored her numerous requests to have help to go to the restroom for so long she tried herself, fell and broke her hip...she went back to str after hip surgery for rehab...when she was discharged there they sent a small female nurse and my 83yr old father to help her into the van (she is a large woman)...she fell again and sprained her ankle...THEN two large male nurses ran out and put her in the van without evaluating her...3days later ems called for temperature and low blood sugar...they found she had sepsis...so back to hospital...not an attentive caring staff...

Fantastic experience: It’s been a emotional time for our family seeing my father go through what he went thru but knowing that he was coming to South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital in Brownsville made our brothers and sisters have a peace of mind because we knew he was going to be in good hands . My dad was so well taken care of the STAFF was amazing every single person that works there from the cafeteria, to the janitorial,Nurses, reception, every staff ❤️ Thank you ALL so so much for taking good care of my dad . We will highly recommend this facility.

Negative experience: Was hospitalized at valley baptist and a rep came to offer services from this rehabilitation hospital everything was fine till the outpatient department kept dodging me because they were overwhelmed with patients they said and when they finally scheduled me I was not in their system. Im so frustrated ! since ive been waiting for more than a month for services from this facility. Fyi admin is a nightmare

Fantastic experience: I was here with my husband 17 years ago and your service was amazing. Now this time was with my mother and your service continue being spectacular.

Negative experience: I really wanted to be leaving a great review of this place, but due to our experience there this year from 7/25-7/29/23 I cannot and feel compelled to warn others as well. My mother was recovering from brain surgery and I truly believed she was going to be getting the best care I could find for her at STRH...boy was I wrong! Despite the fact that the Dr and staff knew she was at high risk for falling and both bed and wheelchair alarms were ordered to be used at all times my mother fell and suffered a traumatic brain injury while in their care. She was left alone in her room in her wheelchair after lunch. According to the nurse, my mother "tampered" with the wheelchair alarm or "turned it off" so when she tried to get back in bed herself the alarm didn't go off and the staff were not aware she had fallen. The nurse also stated my mother had been attempting to get out of bed by herself the night before, twice, but was stopped by staff because the bed alarm went off. Now, my mom was recovering from brain surgery and was very weak, and I am certain she was not physically able to disable or turn off the wheelchair alarm. What am I certain of is their negligence which caused my mom to have to be readmitted to the ICU with a traumatic brain injury. They knew she was trying to get up on her own but took no precautions to protect her (eg- putting her back into bed with the bed alarm instead of leaving her in the chair, putting a sitter with her, calling us first thing in the morning so we would come sit with her, making sure/double checking that the chair alarm was on and working, etc). The worst thing is the nurse blaming her! Oh and she had to pay an extra $2500 in medical bills that she cannot afford and never would have had if not for their negligence! They didn't even have the decency to call me after she was taken to the hospital to see if she was ok!!! Oh but they sure did bill her insurance for over $12,000 for barely 3 days of care!!!! I am OUTRAGED that this facility still has a JACO certification or that they are even allowed to take care of our precious family members, if I could give them minus 5 stars I would!!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff from the cleaning crew; always friendly and smiling, to the PCT’s; kind, helpful with an abundance of empathy, to the nurses; professional, supportive, informative and caring. The therapist were a lifeline to recovery! AND the kitchen staff was far and above the best I’ve ever experienced I’m so thankful Valley Regional sent me “across the street”!! God Bless You All!

Positive experience: Thank you for the best rehab experience I could have imagined! I arrived unable to sit up for more than five minutes at a time; unable to walk; and in great pain. And 16 days, therapy has me sitting/standing for long periods of time; walking with a walker, and much less pain. I still have work to do, but now I feel able to move forward. almost all staff seek to make you more comfortable and are welcoming.

Fantastic experience: I'd like to let everyone know that if your looking for a great place to help you get back on your feet, then look no further. STRH is staffed with a bunch of great physical and occupational therapist, who will help you get back to what you were before your illness, but you as a patient must be willing to put in the work. All the nurses are A+ along with the PCT's. The kitchen staff is very accommodating to your needs and have some of the best food I've ever had in a hospital setting. Samantha the case worker is unbelievable she listens to any worries you might have and tries very hard to make them go away before discharge. STRH is just a really good place to go for rehab. I'd like to thank PT's- Nancy, Joaquin, Steve, Dennis OT's- Erika, Angela NURSES- Frank, Bernie, Laura, Maria, Claudia, PCT's- Marianne, Maria, Genver, Vivianna, Julio, Alec. Case worker- Samantha I apologize if I forgot to mention anyone, but I really appreciate the tremendous treatment I was given. Keep up the good work!!

Negative experience: People if you want to keep your love ones alive please avoid this facility the staff is horrible and the physical therapist are lazy and they don’t want to work with the patient when the patient wants to try and walk and they try to in courage the patient not to try and walk instead they tell the patient that they are bed ridden and will never walk again

Fantastic experience: I did inpatient therapy for two weeks and learned so much about building strength not only during therapy but to use outside of therapy. All the therapists are extremely helpful, and make therapy enjoyable. I looked forward to therapy every day, and look forward to outpatient therapy with them.

Fantastic experience: Whenever in need of a rehabilitation center this is the place to come. I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. When I arrived i had lost all strength, I was Unable to walk, unable to hold a fork in my hand. I came here hopeless and broken because I thought I would never recover. Nancy and Adrian were my therapist, 100 stars for them. I can’t thank them enough! The whole staff was great. Too many AWSOME staff members to mention. From the doctors, nurses, Pct, therapists, and house keeping staff they all showed me that they cared about me as a person and my recovery. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved the time and care this facility provided for my elderly mother. She went in for both physical and occupational therapy. Aquatic therapy was recommended which my Mom wasn't sure about it, but after trying she loved and was so thankful the therapist took the time to explain to her all advantages of aquatic therapy. She was feeling so much better and felt the improvement in her body that she would look forward to going to her therapy sessions. The occupational therapist made her feel so comfortable and targeted the areas she was having pain. Both her and I are very happy with everyone at STRH.

Fantastic experience: When I first arrived at South Texas rehab, I was very scared I had just had my open-heart surgery and not knowing how I was going to do. It was not easy but from the moment that I arrived the staff, there is absolutely amazing such beautiful souls starting with Samantha my case manager, Mrs Michelle, the nurses, Frank Conchita, Suzanne Liz.Laura my respiratory therapist my patient care technicians, Jackie, and the girls. Juan Alec Everybody went above and beyond in my care, my physical therapist I was very scared to do things, afraid of hurting myself, but they always helped and showed me exactly how to do things, and not to give up always encouraging Us. My Therapist Sydney, Sarah. Paula and Joaquin you guys are absolutely amazing, Thank you for your patience but most of all your compassion, I will be returning for outpatient therapy and I just wanted to say that I am eternally grateful. The Nursing, the PT/OT, kitchen staff, janitorial staff, Administrative staff and even the CEO are all so caring. Negative experience: Don’t bring your loved ones here, they don’t even treat them right, instead of helping them to the restroom they just put diapers on them and don’t care what they have to say. This is more of a prison than a rehabilitation center. I’d give no stars if possible.

Negative experience: This place doesnt even deserve a one star. My grandfather who pasted away there had his phone and his wallet stolen. What kind of place would do that?
