Valley Grande Manor: Reviews
Negative experience: By far the worst place to bring your loved ones!!! If you want them to have any chance of survival take them elsewhere!!! They are heartless human beings if you can even call them human!!! They have neglected so many patients here including my poor Aunt. That had gone weeks with a UTI and failed to inform us until it was too late!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!! May each and everyone of you that has neglected so many elderly here receive the same care you have given your patients.
Negative experience: Some of the nurses are great and patient and others are down right nasty. The business manager is charming but not always forthcoming with information. She hides when she sees me coming instead of having a conversation they avoid you. This place could be great as there are many good people there but it's the administration that needs to change.
Negative experience: My Mother's health deteriorated after coming to this facility. Eventually after 6 months she passed away. Had but negative experiences here so, I don't recommend this place.
Fantastic experience: When I first got here I felt scared, and lost. Now I feel good being here. The staff is caring and friendly. This facility has a good administrator, and I feel good about that. I had previously been at other nursing facility, and I feel that no other facilities met my needs. When I got to Valley Grande within 3 months I got my prosthetic and I feel good about that because in the other facilities they just talked about it, but nothing was done. I love it here. I feel like the treatment here is great. Valley Grande staff takes real good care of me.
Fantastic experience: We are very pleased with Valley Grande Manor for their excellent service and for the care they are providing to our dear mom. We have seen a tremendous improvement in our mother’s overall health. Thank you very much to administration, nurses, CNAs and all other staff. The Zepeda Family
Positive experience: by Carmen Scarborough May 03, 2018 My mother Olga T. Martinez died recently at 91. She was a long time resident at Valley Grande Manor in Brownsville, TX. Cause of death was Pneumonia, Alzheimer's-Dementia. It has taken me a while to write this as I am getting over her death. She might still be alive if she had gotten better, more proactive treatment. Director of Nursing Tonya Ehiele should have been more diligent in my mothers care and gotten her timely, more aggressive treatment of her Pneumonia. The staff at VGM is by and large excellent, including nurses, CNAs, etc. She, Tonya should have better instructed the nurses in talking to doctors giving care to my mother and state the true, complete conditions precisely in order to make correct decisions in her care.
Negative experience: Let me just give you an advice and the experience we had. My father was sent here not by choice, but because there wasn’t any other alternative. When they went to the hospital to do the transfer everything seemed wonderful. As soon as my father got transferred we didn’t have a clue where to go. Everyone looked at you as if you were at the zoo. My Father’s room wasn’t even ready, his medication weren’t, given on time and the nurses were plain rude. I can count with one hand the number of nurses that work because they live they’re job. The rooms resembled a roach motel. As we walked to the rooms there’s patients literally on the floor. Some patients have their mattress on the floor. The rooms are shared, leaving the patient with a small space. My father in a small amount of days was deteriorating. They ran many tests to refrain us from going to the hospital. The assured that my father was doing well and all his blood work and X-rays were normal. Had we not been adamant about going to the hospital, we could of slowly lost our father. Let me add that we requested to get sent to a hospital of our choice. They adviced is that if we went to another hospital other than Brownsville’s the family had to pay $500. I called the ems to confirm and they clearly told me that they don’t charge an up front fee. Let me tell you it took pulling teeth so they could allow us to get my father transferred to hospital. When we get there my father was in desperate need of a blood transfusion, he had an infection and a high fever, but according to Valley Grande Manor my father’s test results were all normal. Persistency pays off. Be aware
Negative experience: IF I could be less than 1star! My mom was sent her not by choice or alternative within day's in care of facility died. I've tried getting answers even filed a complaint with the CMS! SMH
Fantastic experience: I am so grateful out of all facilities, the Mississippi hospital choose SCC Valley Grand to send my father to. I met my father there. On the drive I didn't know what to expect and contacted the front desk, the staff was kind and professional. I was transferred to Amy in in-take who assured me she will be there when my father arrived and for us. She gave me her mobile number to contact her as soon as we entered the building. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lady at the front desk, who in-spite of doing multiple task, she was polite and contacted Amy right away. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and the residents with the smiles on their faces. Amy made introductions as we went right to my father's new room. The plane trip took a wearing on my father and he had to be rushed to the nearby hospital. The night crew was above amazing. The head nurse had introduced herself and saw to my concerns, she had just came on shift and had a number of updates for her shift but saw to my Father while he was distressed right away. A few weeks later my Father returned back to SCCVG, I would speak to Nurse Juan every day who never gave me a problem about receiving updates on my Father while I was in another city. Juan is an extraordinary nurse! He always has given a full report on my father, doing what he can to manage my Father''s health while in his care. This means speaking to all personal concerning my Father's well being. To make my Father's stay great, there are other nurses who deserve a compliment- Tom and Adrain. All three have worked extra hours including doubles but still treat family and residence with respect and great care. If they were tired I couldn't tell. They all came together to surprise celebrate a wife for the care of her husband and their staff! Nurse Monica B. thank you for being exceptional! Your actions helped me to rest better. I appreciate Daniel in the business office who made filling out paperwork harmless and easy. Amy, for staying true to her word and being there for us when we called. The Administrator Joe Longoria (whose name sounds beautiful when pronounced right) Is there at the facility late at night even on a Friday. He makes himself accessible to not just to hear concerns but come with a solution to each matter. Mr. Longoria, your commitment will never be forgotten. The entire team works in excellence! Thank you for all you do concerning all our families. Keep being extraordinary Juan!
Fantastic experience: It is a privilege to part of the volunteers at Valley Grande. This is a great place to come to spend time with the residents to minister to them with praise and worship as well as the word of god. The so enjoy the songs we sing and they sing, clap their hands and make music with their instruments too. Even the staff walking down the hallways are seen singing and dancing too. We have been volunteering for for over 4 years and look forward to every Friday to spend time with the residents. They are our family! Zion Ministries
Fantastic experience: My husband has been here about a year. The staff here is so caring and so professional. They come into his room with such a sweet attitude. They keep him clean. When it is time to clean him the CNAs come right in and do their job. When I ask the nurse a question they give me an answer right away. There are times when my husband has been cleaned and maybe 15 minutes later has a BM again I ask the staff if they could come in and clean him and immediately they went and got a new gown and came right in with a sweet attitude. Respiratory keeps him clean also. His trach care is always good. They come in with so much compassion. The wound care nurse is always sweet and shows so much compassion too. The office staff always show me they care for my husband. They are all so nice to me. Even the receptionists are nice. My Thanks and Gratitude to Senior Care Centers Valley Grande.
Negative experience: If you love your family member please DO NOT send them here! If you are told that this is the only option than do everything in your power to keep them away from this place. My grandmother was sent here only to be mistreated and neglected. There is only one doctor for the entire facility and he is a quack! My grandmother's health rapidly declined after arriving. We witnessed many health and neglect violations during her 5 month stay. They would leave patients in their own feces for HOURS even after being told to change them!! The CNA's lacked proper hand washing between patients who were contaminated with c-diff, which only caused the virus to spread. My entire family would drive 4 hours every weekend only to arrive and see here lying in bed 24 hours of the day and most of the time in her own feces. We loved my grandmother very much, and she didn't deserve this treatment. She eventually became very ill and lost her life. Our entire family blame this facility and their lack of care. I write this warning in her memory.
Negative experience: Everything that they say on the website about care is a lie. The nurses dont take care of the patients. Some nurses dont even hive the patients their medications. And the current DON (director of nurse's) doesnt want parients to be sent to the hospital unless they are dying. I know all this because i used ro work there. I called the state on that nursing home because of that reason, they dont take care of patients because they dont care. If you want a great nursing home choose ebony lake its on central blvd. I work there now and its a great place. Nurses do their job and the staff really does care about their residents.
