Take Control Physical Therapy Centers: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I have suffered chronic back pain for 6 years now and after seeing Dr. Andrew Merget for only 2 sessions I feel a dramatic improvement. After an accident in 2019 sustained the back pain, which sometimes felt it was in my hips. After taking an MRI I discovered that I had two herniated discs (L4, and L5). I’ve been on pain meds, done physical therapy, chiropractics (which seems to help short term), I’ve seen a back specialist, tried new exercise routines. Nothing seemed to give me permanent relief. I have accepted that I would just live with chronic pain, but I was recently referred to Take Control PT from a healthcare professional. Hands down THE BEST DECISION I’VE MADE!!! Dr. Andrew Merget has been able to diagnose my symptoms and continues to provide me with clear explanations on what my body is doing and providing solutions to increase range of motion and relief. AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING!!! I am so happy. Thank you Take Control PT and Dr. Merget for finally giving me relief and a new ability to be active again. It has been life changing.
Fantastic experience: Andrew was fantastic. I presented with weakness and lack of mobility in my right shoulder. He quickly diagnosed the cause and started me on treatment. I had positive results after one visit! Highly recommend Take Control Physical Therapy.
Fantastic experience: I recently had the privilege of receiving treatment at Take Control Physical Therapy, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the transformative experience I had under the care of Andrew, the incredible physical therapist at this clinic. I initially sought help due to severe pain radiating throughout my legs, with stabbing sensations in my hamstrings, excruciating pain on the top of my foot and toes that made even simple tasks like walking down stairs an agonizing challenge. At 53 years old, I found myself moving in a way that my husband likened to an 80-year-old – a situation that was not only physically debilitating but emotionally taxing as well. From the very first appointment, Andrew's attentiveness and dedication to understanding my unique situation were evident. He took the time to listen to my concerns and conducted a series of simple yet effective diagnostics that pinpointed the root causes of my pain. This personalized approach immediately instilled confidence in me, and I left the first session with a glimmer of hope that relief was possible. What truly set Take Control Physical Therapy apart was Andrew's commitment to simplicity and efficacy. He prescribed a single exercise, to be performed multiple times a day. Initially, I was skeptical about the simplicity of the regimen, but the results spoke for themselves. Within the first week of diligently following the prescribed exercise routine, I experienced a remarkable 70% improvement in my condition. Over the course of 5-6 sessions, Andrew continued to fine-tune the treatment plan, providing invaluable guidance and support. His expertise, coupled with his genuine concern for my well-being, made every session a positive and encouraging experience. I am thrilled to share that, after completing the recommended sessions, I am now 100% better – a remarkable turnaround that I hadn't dared to dream of when I first walked through the doors of Take Control Physical Therapy. I cannot thank Andrew and Take Control Physical Therapy enough for his exceptional care, professionalism, and dedication to restoring my health. If you find yourself in need of physical therapy, look no further – Take Control Physical Therapy is the place to go for a life-changing and empowering journey to recovery. I wholeheartedly recommend their services and express my deepest gratitude for giving me my life back.
Fantastic experience: Andrew is a special find for a physical therapist. And I am a physical therapist myself! His methodology targets root cause and minimize the need for visits long term therapy visits. He is extremely knowledgeable and educates you on the reasons why you are feeling discomfort etc and very systematically designs a program to correct the issue help you recover. Highly recommend!!!!!
Fantastic experience: I spent a large part of my waking life sitting -- as a student and then as a desk-jockeying, document-oriented professional with clients all of whom were several hours distant via automobile. In my early 70's, I had a couple of experiences of unexpected, extremely painful, lower back pain, e.g., when standing up after sitting at the computer. Over time, lower back pain became chronic and not episodic. I had an MRI, which revealed nothing significant, went to physical therapy, went to massage therapy, worked with exercise trainers -- all to no avail. Then a visitor mentioned the McKenzie Method. I bought Ron McKenzie's book, 'Treat Your Own Back,' and studied the exercises and method. I decided I wanted professional advice on how to proceed and located Take Control Physical Therapy and Dr Andrew Merget. At my first appointment, Andrew had me execute some movements and determined that extension was the likely solution to my chronic pain. I began to perform the standing extension exercises every two hours with 12 repetitions held for a '3-count.' Over a period of some weeks, I experienced some improvement but not complete elimination of my lower back pain. Andrew suggested I modify my exercises by holding the extension for a '5-count' and increasing the number of repetitions from 12 to 15. I embarked on this program, and after just a few days I realized one day that I didn't notice my lower back at all. This continued for more days and then weeks. I call it a 'don't stop just before the miracle happens' example. This self-treatment approach works! I highly recommend the McKenzie Method for anyone suffering from lower back pain. I also highly recommend seeking the help of a McKenzie certified Physical Therapist like Andrew in order to increase the probability of success: likely better technique, higher motivation, a resource if additional advice is needed. I should mention that I also invested in a couple of McKenzie Lumbar Rolls, one for my car, the other for use at home, and became more focused on posture while sitting in order to maintain my lumbar lordosis. Andrew's help has been expert, focused, and effective. I'd go with the reviewer who said Andrew deserves 6 stars on a scale of 1 to 5. Robert
Fantastic experience: Andrew is a fantastic physical therapist and the method he used to treat my pain has really provided me with a whole new outlook on how to treat injuries. He really puts in the extra work to eliminate any possible causes for the pain, narrows it down to a treatable source, and then shows you how to successfully treat it. He is always quick to respond to questions by text or email and genuinely cares about your recovery. Having been a professional for many years I was treated by many physical therapists and I have to say Andrew is by far the most unique as he truly empowers you to be able to treat yourself.
Fantastic experience: I’m really glad I was able to find Andrew to help with my back pain. I previously had a microdiscectomy procedure at Mayo Clinic, that I believe I could have completely avoided if I had learned about Andrew sooner. He is very professional and straight to the point with his focus on diagnosing your pain and injury. I referred my father to him with confidence he can solve his back pain. Highly recommend Andrew to anyone having pain and considering alternative options prior to surgery!
Fantastic experience: I’d like to give Dr. Andrew six stars if I could. I had suffered right thigh and hip pain for almost six years. I had PT in a famous clinic, and it didn’t work. I used to think I would live with the pain for the rest of my life. One day my son referred Dr. Andrew to me because the doctor healed his finger injury. After several treatments, the pain became centralized to my middle lower back, then gradually diminished, and eventually gone. It’s a miracle. Thank you, Dr. Andrew,
Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to find a Schroth Method therapist for my 15 year old son who was recently diagnosed with scoliosis. Andrew is very knowledgeable and is able to connect well with my son. First I took my son to Nemours and was told that there was little they could do to help him because his growth plates were already closed. I found Andrew online and decided to take my son for a second opinion. Andrew made an evaluation and dictated a plan to help my son relieve his pain and help his posture. I am so pleased with my son's progress and highly recommend Andrew for scoliosis treatment or any other PT.
Fantastic experience: I had an outstanding experience working with Take Control PT!! Andrew provided me with Telehealth appointments that were convenient and in the comfort of my own home. He worked with me to fix intense neck pain and reassured me that everything was going to be okay. Several weeks later, I am more than okay. With patience, commitment, and the best quality provided, I now know key practices to prevent and strengthen my neck pain. I couldn't be more grateful for the techniques and stretches Andrew did with me. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr. Andrew Mergert! I was always told with my scoliosis I was going to need back surgery. But Dr. Mergert specializes in the alternative way to prevent surgery through use of the Schroth method. The improvement and progress I have seen in myself truly show that the exercises work and it helps that he is a great teacher. Learning this process and continuing to use it has been life changing!
Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a 1:1 physical therapy experience that produces results, then look no further than Take Control Physical Therapy Centers. I was experiencing excruciating pain from sciatica. I could barely walk or stand when I went in, and now I am back to my normal routine. Working with Andrew Merget, Ph.D. has moved me from immobility to a timely, well managed recovery using the McKenzie method of therapy. It has helped me to manage a path of recovery that was in alignment with my doctor's recommendation and avoid unnecessary procedures. Well worth the investment in my health!
Fantastic experience: My scoliosis was progressively getting worse until I went to Dr. Merget. I tried yoga, a chiropractor, and another physical therapist, but I continued to get worse. When I was in my late 60's I discovered Take Control Physical Therapy. Dr. Merget taught me three exercises tailored to my particular back, and a year later x-rays showed there had been no more progression! He added an easy exercise that instantly relieved my knee pain as well.
Fantastic experience: Andrew is by far the best physical therapist I have been to in my thirty years of dealing with my back issues. I contacted Andrew after watching several videos regarding the McKenzie therapy method and seeking something that might help since my back pain has gotten worse. I was on information overload and could never find any treatments that could consistently take away the pain I was in. The last 6 years have been the worst in my life with constant sciatic nerve and hip pain. I could barely sleep more than 2 to 3 hours a night resulting in my blood pressure skyrocketing from the pain and lack of sleep. When I first spoke with Andrew over the phone I felt comfortable with taking a chance with the McKenzie method. I was not disappointed at all. Andrew explained the process thoroughly and simply. Over time I could feel that I was gaining more mobility and less pain. I was walking and driving more confidently. Andrew and the McKenzie method has greatly improved my quality of life with just three simple moves that have changed my life. Thank you Andrew!!
Fantastic experience: Andrew, Thanks for getting me back into the game! I had been suffering from right knee pain off and on for a few months. My 12 plus hour shifts would leave me going to bed with pain and waking up with pain. After playing pickleball I would have trouble even lifting my right leg to get in and out of the car. The discomfort would continue for days. I tried various stretches, scheduled doses of ibuprofen, but never found sustained relief. Then I was referred to Andrew by my husband. I reviewed his website and easily scheduled an appointment. A couple of days prior to my appointment I injured my back, and thought “how am I going to be able to make it to my appointment for my knee?” I did make it to that appointment, and Andrew was so helpful. He listened to me describe my recent back injury as well as what brought me originally in, my knee pain. Andrew explained his methods and treatments. The main focus of that first visit was my back. However, the treatments and exercises we did for my back also brought comfort to my knee. I left with “homework exercises” that were easy to do. Andrew had shown me how to modify them so I was able to do them while at work. By the 3rd visit, my back pain was nonexistent, and by my 4th, I had more movability and function to my knee than I’ve had in months. I’m a nurse who loves to play pickleball. Thanks to Andrew, I come home from shifts without any discomfort or pain to my knee, and I’m back on the pickleball court. If your pain and discomfort is impacting the activities you enjoy or are making daily living difficult I highly recommend you visit Dr. Andrew Merget at Take Control Physical Therapy.
Fantastic experience: After some family fun time at the batting range I noticed pain in my upper arm when putting on my seatbelt and putting on deodorant. After trying many therapies to no avail I decided to seek the expertise of Dr. Andrew. He was so thorough and helped diagnose the problem within an hour evaluation. He sent me home with a simple exercise and within a couple weeks my pain was gone!! Thank you Dr. Andrew!
Fantastic experience: We are so grateful to Dr. Andrew Merget and Take Control PT! After my daughter was diagnosed with mild/moderate scoliosis at 11 years old, we researched options and found the Schroth Method had very promising results. Our initial meeting was super informative and helped us to decide if this therapy was right for her. Dr. Merget is great with my daughter. He is very kind and patient, and helped her to learn all of the customized exercises over a period of several months. He checks in regularly and is able to accommodate our schedule both during summer break and the school year. Our most recent x-rays show that she actually had a significant reduction in her curvature between February and September, which was so much more than we expected! We hoped to slow or stop additional progression of her scoliosis, but these results were amazing. Her pediatrician is so impressed! I highly recommend Dr. Merget and the Schroth Method to anyone who has been diagnosed with scoliosis.
Fantastic experience: Andrew is the absolute best! Every appointment was extremely thorough and his passion for helping his patients heal is very apparent. He completely fixed my wrist after just a few sessions. I am so thankful to have worked with him!
Fantastic experience: I herniated a disc in my neck about a month ago. I was referred to Andrew by the Mayo Clinic. His method of PT is the best PT I have ever had. It is simple yet very effective. Instead of going 3-4 times a week I went once a week and we simplified the most effective ways to help my neck. After about 4 visits my symptoms went away and I have gotten better. I would recommend Andrew for any issues you may have.
Fantastic experience: I've had chronic pain from a slipping disc for the last 3 years. I've seen a chiropractor, a physical therapist, and a stretch therapist. I've tried strength training, yoga, functional movement training, and any exercise routine I could find that was supposed to help a bulging disc. Nothing has helped. It's only gotten worse. I haven't been able to sit for longer than 20 minutes without pretty serious discomfort, and if I have to sit for more than an hour, I end up with pain that lasts several days. I have stopped taking road trips- I avoid driving more than 20 minutes. I avoid work assignments that will require much sitting. I avoid movie theaters and nice restaurants because I just can't sit very long. I've had 3 sessions with Andrew, and I can't BELIEVE how much better I'm doing in such a short window. Yesterday, I spent a total of nearly 6 hours sitting throughout the day- which typically would have me staying in bed from the pain today. Except I'm not in any pain at all. NONE. Did I mention I've only had THREE sessions?? The most incredible part is that he only gave me two incredibly simple exercises. (Exercises that everyone else actually told me to avoid!) When Andrew says his approach is different- it is. When he says he gets results where other professionals haven't - he does. I'm finally going to have my life back, and I'm so incredibly grateful. You won't regret coming here. I can't recommend this place enough.
Fantastic experience: When I first came to Andrew I couldn't hardly walk 20 feet without extreme nerve pain in my legs he found a couple of exercises for me to do that stopped all my pain. Other places were ready to do surgery that was not necessary. I highly recommend him to anyone with any kind of pain
Fantastic experience: Andrew is an amazing physical therapist! I cannot recommend him enough! He is certified in the Schroth Method, which he used to treat my scoliosis. Orthopedist told me I would eventually have surgery, but Andrew gave me hope. With Andrew's Schroth Method of physical therapy, I was able to reduce the curvature and prevent any invasive surgery. Andrew was one on one with me, so that I received the best treatment and best outcome. He is kind and compassionate with each of his patient's concerns. If you have a need for physical therapy, especially scoliosis, I would go see Andrew Merget at Take Control Physical Therapy!
Fantastic experience: Love this place! I researched soooo many different treatments for scoliosis and spent thousands of dollars on doctors and braces. Nothing really worked for the pain or gave me the results I needed. I found Andrew and he has been wonderful in helping me learn the schroth method and daily exercises to decrease pain. The schroth method has been the most effective treatment for my scoliosis and I’m really happy to be under his care.
Fantastic experience: Andrew worked efficiently with me to quickly fix my issues I had with my knee. He made sure I understood the process every step of the way and ensured I was comfortable with any treatment plans we made. 10/10 would recommend!
Fantastic experience: Andrew is thorough, personable and informative. I started virtual PT appointments with him 6 weeks ago to help with poor mobility and leg pain due to some herniated discs in my lower back. I never imagined I would experience an increase in mobility and symptom improvement so quickly. Back pain can be overwhelming and scary and having a practitioner that listens to me, provides hope and clearly explains a path forward has been a lifesaver.
Fantastic experience: Andrew is such a great clinician. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to coach his patients on “the why” behind what we’re doing. I had a hamstring injury that would not get better. Because of Andrew I am back to climbing again- he even showed me some overall prevention exercises as well. Highly recommend! You will get more individualized patient care here than a typical PT clinic.
Fantastic experience: After feeling limited and basically at a complete halt in my training from severe calf pain, I felt totally at a loss on how to remedy the pain and continue my training. Nothing within my own tool belt of recovery methods seemed to do the job. Thankfully, I was referred to Andrew and was amazed at his findings on the cause of my severe pain. Within a week of my first visit to my second, I already had measurable change in my performance, I.e. I could return to normal training without the debilitating effects of my perceived physical limitation that was, in actuality, not a limitation at all! Andrew was able to help me break through that first wall and get be back on track (literally) and I’m excited to continue to work with him and advance in my sport. Excellent therapist who is compassionate and strives to make complex terminology understandable (and palatable) to all of his patients so there are no surprises during treatment!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Andrew is so helpful and kind. He listened to my concerns and was able to recommend exercises to alleviate my lower back and hip pain. I visited his office a few times for evaluation, but I was equipped to continue the exercises on my own from home, unlike visiting a chiropractor three times a week with hefty copays. Highly recommend this practice!
Fantastic experience: I am so thankful to have found such a knowledgeable and thorough PT! Andrew has helped me quickly recover from a shoulder injury that I have been dealing with for a year. He has also helped me with chronic back pain and limited range of motion that I have been dealing with for many years. He takes his time to adequately understand and identify the source of the problem, as well as, create a customized plan to effectively address the issue. Not only is he great at explaining and treating the source of the problem, he also does a wonderful job at creating a plan to prevent re-injury. He is able to adjust the treatment plan according to the progress made and he is open and encourages updates as needed between appointments. Overall, Andrew has great communication, he is very friendly and he was able to accommodate my busy schedule. I am so happy that I decided to seek out Andrew’s help. He has helped me engage in my everyday activities pain free. I highly recommend a consultation with Andrew!
Fantastic experience: Andrew is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and easy to communicate with. He takes the time to break down your injury, develop an individualized protocol, and encourages updates in between appointments. I feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon Take Control and I would recommend Andrew to anyone with a nagging pain or injury, especially if you’ve had trouble finding effective treatment elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: My daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis almost a year ago and most of the advice and care we had received was focused on not letting her condition progress further. Thankfully, we were referred to Andrew at Take Control and have hope! Andrew has been using the Schroth method to not just keep my daughters curve from progressing, but also focusing on reversing it. In the process, we have received a less clinical, surface level of care- Andrew treats us like family and is flexible with our schedule. We are grateful for the care we have received and look forward to results with Schroth!
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Andrew as a Schroth Method Scoliosis PT and a Mckenzie Method PT. I had back surgery for a major L4/L5 disk herniation in March 2021. I worked with another great physical therapist locally (in Utah) for 4-5 months who helped me immensely using the same McKenzie Method that Andrew treats patients with. However, I kept having recurring issues that were related to my scoliosis so my PT referred me to Andrew. After doing 4-5 virtual sessions (+1 in person when he was in SLC for a week) with Dr. Andrew, my mobility has increased drastically–I can bend backwards so far! At first I was hesitant to do virtual visits but they ended up being just as helpful as in-person. Andrew did a great job explaining why I was doing certain movements and the impact that they would have and he also had little adaptations/variations to exercises to make them even more impactful. I love that he approached my situation based on my symptoms and reactions rather than following one strict system since no one person is the same. I still have a couple more sessions with Andrew but he’s brought me to the end of my physical therapy journey and I couldn’t be happier. It’s been truly amazing seeing what simple exercises can do to help with my scoliosis!
Fantastic experience: Andrew Merget has done an incredible job for me and my neck . I was scheduled to have neck surgery (up to a 4 level fusion) to fix debilitating arm numbness, tingling, and pain. After only 3 sessions, my symptoms had subsided enough for my neurosurgeon to suggest and I agree to cancel my surgery. He is unlike any other physical therapist I have seen in over 35 Years of amateur athletics. He really listens and analyzes the issue and focuses on the root cause. He doesn’t just rely on the typical massage and traction you will often experience. Thank you for the amazing transformation.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Andrew is a very knowledgable therapist, he took his time listening to me and understanding my issues all the while analyzing me while I spoke with him. Each visit was devoted to me alone, going over whatever movement he has deemed would be good for me the previous week and then seeing how to progress. It is a slow deliberate process of investigating how I react. I went to "regular" therapists for 2 months, I was no where and in more pain. On my first visit with Dr. Andrew I was in such pain I was close to tears and now I'm getting close to normal. Thank you Andrew, you're amazing.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Merget is awesome! I went to him as a referral from my specialist at Mayo Clinic for pain in my lower back radiating down into my leg. He spent a great deal of time working with me to identify the root cause and then prescribing very targeted exercises and movements to remove the pain (and the cause of the pain). He took the time to thoroughly explain why the pain was happening and the best approach to resolving my issues. He gave me very targeted movements, not simply an approach of trying a bunch of things, and let's see what works. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking effective clinical guidance from a Physical Therapist.
Fantastic experience: Words cannot express the appreciation I have for Dr. Merget at Take Control PT Centers. I presented to him approximately 5-6 weeks prior to the NYC marathon with significant knee pain. Panic stricken as I had just spent months training and to feel this hard work was falling apart right at the end. Fortunately, he quickly diagnosed me and with the McKenzie method, I only had to perform the one exercise to improve. As a full-time working mother and at the peak of marathon training, time was limited which made this method excellent for me. Also, the McKenzie method allowed me to feel in full control of my therapy with a safety net to utilize in case I suffered knee pain throughout the day or while running. After just a few sessions, I was feeling better for the race. As a bonus my intermittent chronic hip pain improved as well. While running the marathon, I experienced no knee pain and after the race, that knee felt better than the rest of me. I followed up with one last session with no residual knee pain and continue to run distances to this day without pain thanks to Dr. Merget.
Fantastic experience: Dr Merget listens to all details, asks many questions and gets all the facts before any physical evaluation. I’ve seen several physical therapists and he is by far the best. In fact, he has been more helpful than any doctor in getting to the root cause of my leg issues. He explains everything we are doing and I am hopeful for the first time in this two year journey. I look forward to the end result of me walking normally. Very grateful to have found this treasure.
Fantastic experience: I had had hip pain when running and hiking for nearly two years when I started seeing Andrew. He was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable and after about a month of pt with him I am pain free! I most appreciated how available Andrew made himself to any small questions I had during the process - he was quick to respond to texts and emails and made me feel heard. Thank you, Andrew!
Fantastic experience: A herniated disc in my back caused me reduced range of motion and pain. Andrew and the McKenzie method treated the root cause, eliminated symptoms and restored range of motion. Take Control PT and Andrew Merget have been amazing to work with from initial contact, first impressions, communication and schedule flexibility. Great care.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended! One on one physical therapy session with care customized to meet your goal. Andrew is keen to identify the source of the problem and treat it effectively without using medication and surgery. He is very good in explaining each treatment. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us!
Fantastic experience: I was suffering, in so much pain for about a month and half before I came to see Andrew(take control). I could barley walk, I couldn’t sleep, and was hunched over all the time because of all the sciatic leg pain. I was previously working with other physical therapist to try and help me get through this but nothing was working. Started to get frustrated and thought nothing would work, not even a Steroid shot. My fathers friend Had made a recommendation to see Andrew and it was the best decision I could Make. With in a couple visits I was already starting to see improvement with less pain and more movement. After about month and a half I was back to walking normal and no leg pain. Thank you for all you help. I highly recommend Andrew(take control) if you are looking for a physical therapist. :)
Fantastic experience: I had been suffering from a herniated disc in my lower back. I tried chiropractic therapy which did not help. The pain was on & off for months until about a week before I found Andrew on google. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t sit comfortably, couldn’t sleep comfortably, I couldn’t bend over, & I was in so much pain all the time. I am only 23 years old & surgery is definitely not an option. I learned that I had a lumbar lateral shift as well. Andrew uses the McKenzie method to get to the root of the problem & does a great job explaining the entire process. He is super knowledgeable & is the only McKenzie certified therapist in Jacksonville. I was already starting to see improvement with more mobility & less pain within a couple visits. I’m looking forward to being good as new. He also answers any questions you have at the appointment & through text as needed. Starting PT with Andrew was the best decision I could make & I highly recommend his services!
Fantastic experience: Andrew helped me understand my neck pain problems and with his guidance, we were able to figure out regimen that I can do on my own. Every session was very thorough and Andrew took time to understand my symptoms and made sure that I understand the treatment as well. He was also available through email and promptly provided prognosis and treatment to speed up the recovery. Thank you for offering telemedicine option, it was very easy to work with.
Fantastic experience: I had neck surgery 2 years ago to relieve pain and numbness in my hands. Never found relief after the surgery and, in fact, got worse. Andrew is the only doctor I've seen to ask questions and listen to the answers. Got relief in weeks. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Andrew knows his stuff, I could stop there. However, I believe the most authentic description of how Andrew chooses to practice is simply, authenticity and desire to address your problem. In addition, I’d say, it’s a true personal approach. I chose my visits to be Teleconference. And it was absolutely perfect. A non-harried approach that dovetails into my previous comments. One on one, no distractions! For me, being in lower back pain for 10+ years, I wanted a modality, an approach, something different, that produces results. And again, Andrew‘s approach was just that. His level of knowledge in reference of the McKenzie Method is absolutely incredible. I choose the modality and then sought a practitioner. Andrew is the guy. I’ve had numerous sessions with Andrew and will continue to do so. After only one and two visits I was making progress. And I continually feel better after each visit. I feel 40-60%, greater mobility in less then a month. Still, progress to be made! Most importantly Andrew, aside, much success in your business endeavors as I know you’ll bring relief to the many people that so desperately need it thank you so much! Regards Paul
Fantastic experience: My doctor sent me to Take Control Physical Therapy as I have scoliosis and other back issues that were causing severe pain and negatively affecting my life. Andrew was understanding and very knowledgeable about the type of pain I experience and what exercises and movements would help to alleviate it. I am happy and thankful to say I am able to walk and enjoy physical activity pain free and with a better range of motion thanks to Andrew and Take Control Physical Therapy, I can’t recommend them enough!
Fantastic experience: I had chronic middle finger joint pain from climbing that I’d been trying to self-diagnose and treat for a year. Finally decided to do PT when I saw my climbing gym partner with Andrew. It was really important for me to find PT familiar with climber injuries. I’ve only been to a few sessions so far but Andrew has been super helpful. The pain has subsided mostly and I could do alot more climbing before it flares up again. I got my mom to also go for her hip and lumbar pain. It only took 30 mins for Andrew to find the source of the problem and teach her the necessary movement to alleviate/cure it. After doing the movement for a few days, she’s already feeling the best she’s been for years. Looking forward to seeing her heal for good.
Fantastic experience: Andrew has helped me alleviate my chronic pain on more than one occasion. Back in 2015, Andrew helped me rehabilitate my broken ankle after surgery to help me get back to playing soccer. And most recently, he helped me rehab my "hip". I had seen an orthopaedic surgeon who told me I had a torn labrum and wanted to inject steroids into my hip to see if i needed surgery or not. I wanted a second opinion because of how invasive this procedure was. Andrew not only identified that my pain was stemming from my back (not my hip), he also treated me cross country via Zoom! I have been doing the exercises he recommended and am back to weight lifting, playing soccer, and running without ANY pain. I truly cannot recommend Dr. Andrew Merget at Take Control Physical Therapy enough!! He works wonders and I will continue to see him for any problems I have in the future.
Fantastic experience: My experience with Andrew at Take Control Physical Therapy has been great! This was my first telehealth experience, and Andrew made it very easy. I had zero issues video communication and sound. More importantly, Andrew did an incredible job diagnosing and analyzing my neck and shoulder issues. He was able to explain in a very understandable way what was going on and how my symptoms were potentially related to one another. Andrew provided clinical research as well as his experience with similar patients to thoroughly explain things. After this, we went through a few more tests for my range of motion and any pain that I was having to establish a baseline. Andrew then gave me an exercise to do, and watched and gave constructive criticism with adjustments throughout. With the modifications to the movement, we then tested against my baseline pain and range of motion and the results were a night and day difference. While it seems magical how much improved in a few sessions, it is truly a mechanical issue, and Andrew did another great job of explaining the mechanics of how it all worked. There is more work to do, but under Andrew's care, I believe I can attain my goals of less pain, more range of motion, and most importantly less fear of movements causing injury to me in the future. I would recommend Andrew to anyone thinking about physical therapy now or in the future.
Fantastic experience: I came to Andrew with a bulged disc after three previous PTs failed to help me. Andrew took me from debilitating pain to fully recovered with incredible kindness and continual reassurance along the way. He was patient when I was going stir-crazy and always available for my continuous questions between appointments. Before I met Andrew I was worried I would never ski and climb again, but now I'm climbing and skiing stronger and harder than I was before my back injury! If you're looking for a great PT to help with back pain, see Andrew. He's simply awesome.
