Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital - University Campus

Fantastic experience: Brooks Rehab Hospital truly gave me my daughter back. After her head-on car collision and brain injury, Logan was fully oriented, aware, and reasoning by the time of her discharge which was about a month. They made sure my daughter had resources to continue her therapies at home and the case worker, Sarah G., made sure all was set with home health for our journey to continue. The care team was top notch and I am so thankful for their professionalism, their knowledge and execution of her healing plan, as well as their great bedside manners that put my daughter more at ease and made the hard journey doable. Thank you, Brooks!

Fantastic experience: Ever single person that interacted with me was professional, helpful and very kind. I do not have one bad word to say about Brooks. I hope, should I ever break another bone, it will be where I can go to Brooks for rehab. Seriously, I hated to leave, but, they did such a good job rehabbing me, I had to go home.

Fantastic experience: My husband had a stroke in August and was at Brooks for 6 weeks. While they didn’t get him walking, the improvements he made at Brooks were incredible. The staff (for the most part) truly cared about Anton, and me as his spouse/caregiver, and all seemed to enjoy their jobs. Special shoutout to nurses Heather (the best!), Kathryn, and Steve, and CNAs, Gina and Smilja. Also big thank you to Toni, the most patient and kind occupational therapist, and Katie, the speech therapist, who had us laughing every day during her sessions. Michelle and her student Kelly with physical therapy were excellent as well. Kelly D with recreational therapy was a blast too! While Anton didn’t progress as well as I would’ve liked, it wasn’t for lack of trying by the staff. It was a great experience overall; thank you to the team at Brooks!!

Fantastic experience: I went to Brooks Bartram Rehab hospital after a total knee with tendon and ligament repair. I was given the best care from very compassionate and professional staff. I was there for 3 weeks. The Physical therapy as well as OT departments are excellent. Everyone was so caring, but ready to get you on the road to recovery. Which is the absolute goal. Fantastic Rehab hospital. Hard working individuals.

Fantastic experience: My 18 year old son was in a motorcycle crash and was able to get into Brooks. We were VERY impressed with his care and what they did with him. The PT/OT therapists did an amazing job, they pushed him without overdoing it and every time he finished therapy he felt more confident. It was a fantastic experience!

Fantastic experience: I am forever indebted to Brooks for rehabilitating my husband. He had a TBI and fractured C1. He could barely walk when he arrived. Within two weeks he was walking, bathing, writing, doing math problems, etc..... Brooks was amazing! Even though they were three hours from our home it was so worth it. They helped us so much. They were so compassionate and caring. Even gave hugs when needed. It was so comforting. Also, a very clean facility.

Fantastic experience: So it’s official I’ve come such a long way in a short period of time and if it wasn’t for all the staff at brooks rehabilitation center making my time there at ease through one of the hard times of my life and God helping me daily understand the love and care people truly have for others on a daily basis I don’t know how I would have gotten through these moments. So I want to say a special thanks to the Nurses for putting up with my craziness, CNA’s for wiping my dirty butt and baithing me lol, the physical therapist and occupational therapist for pushing me day to day even though we all know I have you a run for your money….. hahah if only I could run you wouldn’t have any hahaha. The Doctors for understanding my past my now and my future and Charge nurses for keeping your team in line for when I would get them out of line lol. The roomies for showing me the possibilities of my future. Truly everyone will be missed and I love you all❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: My 9-year-old nephew had a stroke and was discharged to your Brooks Rehab Hospital at University Campus. At first DJ the PT specialist came in and we weren't too sure about him. The next day Luke had therapy again with DJ and Luke had a breakdown. DJ held Luke and they slid to the floor together. He explained to Luke it is ok to have these moments but must get back up and fight. DJ stole Luke's heart as well as the rest of the family. The other Therapy specialists were as equally receptive to Luke and were excellent. I cannot tell you enough how thankful we are to have such wonderful therapist in Luke's life as well as his family. But it doesn't just stop there. The nursing, aides, and janitorial staff were just as great. The 4th floor will forever be in our hearts and prayers. This group of caring, loving, and talented specialists are a diamond in the ruff. They deserve metals of honor, integrity, and heart. Thank you to those who inspired, gave high fives, encouraged and continue to support Luke on his journey to recovery. You all are an example of what care is all about. Fantastic experience: I had an awful accident leaving me in such physically and emotional pain and unable to walk without some form of help. I was truly so ready to give up before my transfer to BROOKS! They made me happy and realize I COULD get better and learn to live again just fine! THE THERAPISTs are just SO great and wise and caring! I still need HELP but I'm walking so much better now! I'm smiling and laughing and just happy to be alive.again! My pain is still quite rough FOR NOW, But it WAS a whole lot worse before rhe hard work and love from the amazing health-care at BROOKS. I COULDN'T GO OR SUGGEST OR RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE! THE MOST caring Doctors, Nurses and therapists I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with and being cared by! Still a lot of work until a successful full race can be bragged about. Still looking and feeling rough but actually DOING SO much better!!

Positive experience: Our experience was very good. Sadly we ended up there as no one wants to be at a hospital. The employees seem to really love their jobs which made the stay very pleasant. I would highly recommend them. Only down fall was the case worker who wasn’t very knowledgeable about her job. You had to do research behind her. When you had questions her to go answer was I don’t know. If I was Brooks I would definitely define her job.

Fantastic experience: The Brooks rehab center is a place where they work miracles! They gave us hope where others had suggested we let my wife go after a stroke that damaged the right side of her brain. In the first week Brooks personnel developed movement in her left side arm and leg that had not moved since the stroke. They developed right side movement from just fingers and toes to full arm and leg movement. Her cognitive abilities increased 50 percent. She is on the path to regaining her speech. Brooks has saved our family.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience during my stay. My team of therapist were top notch. Everyone made me feel special and made me feel like I was the only one there. I never heard anyone complain. The nurses, CNAs, and the doctors were also outstanding. I will recommend this facility to everyone.

Fantastic experience: I spent the last 2 months at Brooks. It was really hard to leave. My team was amazing - I miss my time in the gym with them! They helped me progress beyond what many thought was possible. I’m looking forward to starting outpatient therapy back home in SW Florida. Can’t wait to be able to visit Brooks and walk in unassisted. 2 East team is the best!! I love you guys!

Fantastic experience: The experience that my family went through at Brooks was amazing and breath taking. The peds staff, nurses, CNA's, doctors, case management and the all the therapists that helped assist with our family needs was great!!!

Fantastic experience: My sister was at this new facility for almost a month. The care and the attention to detail she received was amazing. The nursing staff very caring and attentive, as well as the CNA’s and the physical therapy. The support I received from Danielle was above and beyond. I would highly recommend this facility.

Fantastic experience: This was the only hospital my son went to that treated him with the upmost courtesy and provided unrealistic patient care beyond my expectations. He received Q 3 hour therapy everyday. The doctors never gave up on him, because the team of doctor's all worked together Most of all the therapist worked tireless, but never stop pushibg him to do better. I would recommend this faculty without a second though for anyone looking for therapy. The cardiologists was a spectacular group of doctors , again beyond expectations. Thank you Brooks Rehab!

Fantastic experience: Dr Higdon is an excellent doctor and really listened to my needs. The nurses, especially Katie, were very good. The therapists are very good and see that you work to your ability and push you to be your best. Excellent experience. Food services needs work.

Fantastic experience: After several falls my husband became very confused and often screamed loidly whole night. He can not walk, eaig and drink. Under the care of the Brooks team, in less than 3 weeks, He can drink and swallow the pills. Now he can walk w/o a walker, and eating solid food. Thanks to Brooks gave him the chance to improve his condition drasticly and the hope to fully recoverry in the near future.

Fantastic experience: If you must have rehab, Brooks is the place for you. Due to different extended hospital stays, I have benefitted from stays at Brooks three times. The nursing care and the therapy I received was effective, professional, friendly, and respectful. This was just as true in 2022 as it was in 1996. The are the best!

Fantastic experience: After being admitted i realized how good this staff and hospital is. I had a full blown stroke and the pe staff did everything to keep me safe. The nursing staff are phenomenal. They pe staff did everything possible to ensure your safety.. They do every possible to bring you up to a normal life.

Fantastic experience: Brooks Bertram is an amazing facility. The care and concern for the patient and their family is stellar. This place has a culture developed to ensure the goals of the patient are met or exceeded. If you need in resident therapy I would recommend giving Brooks an opportunity to serve you. From the therapy to the doctors to the nursing and other staff you will be treated well. Also the food is pretty good.

Fantastic experience: While the thought of my husband having to have rehabilitation after his stroke, the choice of going to Brooks was the best choice. All the Nurses, CNA's, OT, PT, Speech, charge nurses and Corporate staff that worked and checked on us the last two weeks was AWESOME. They all went above and beyond. Fantastic experience: Thank you to the excellent staff at Brooks!!! My wife transferred to Brooks after spending 25 days in the ICU and then 14 days at an LTAC following a cardiac arrest and subsequent multiple organ issues, including multiple mini-strokes. After her 15 days at Brooks, she was able talk normally, eat normally, begin walking and self-care and prepare her for the transition home with following outpatient rehab. The OT, PT and ST programs are outstanding and the nurses, CNAs, providers, physical, occupational and speech therapists, case managers and other support staff were all excellent! Dr. Ngo is a very caring, special person and her primary therapists (Heather, Nissy, Nicole) and everyone else were outstanding, motivating and very caring!

Fantastic experience: I considered myself extremely blessed to have had my transfer to Brooks accepted when an open bed became available. The nursing staff, the physical therapists, the occupational therapists, the physicians and the dietary staff are outstanding. The medical teams collaborate together and discuss any issues, what they are working on with you and encourage you to keep working hard. Extremely nice staff doing an excellent job for their patients.

Fantastic experience: This facility and their staff go above and beyond their expectations. My husband received the best quality of care and they excelled with their therapies. The doctors are amazing friendly and empathetic. They don’t act as though my husband was a inconvenience and provided top notch care. The nurses are all 100% amazing and on top of taking care of their patients. The PT and OT staff not only do an excellent job but encourage the patients to do therapy in a positive and energetic method. I can’t speak high enough about this facility and what they did for my husband and so many others. Everyone at this facility was caring and positive. There are a few that I will recognize individually in my Letter to the hospital but honestly they all were amazing. The facility is absolutely beautiful and creates a peaceful environment. I honestly give this place a 10 star rating!!!’n

Fantastic experience: This was the most amazing experience I have ever had with a hospital. The communication was the key. You have the same Doctor that stops in daily with updates and questions. You get a dedicated Nurse and CNA at all times that listen to your every request and they are all so kind. The Therapy Team was by far the best I have seen. Lauren and Claudia you truly love your jobs and it shows. You were both so kind and patient with Rylee. You made her therapy fun and explained everything so well. Brooks is lucky to have both of you!! Thank you all for taking a horrible experience in our lives to a better place.

Fantastic experience: Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital was the biggest blessing I could’ve asked for after my mom suffered from two debilitating strokes. The admission coordinator made her transition from the hospital a breeze. Dr. Shah and Dr. Fowler were incredible and were always a joy to see. There were times where I would pass by one of her doctors in the hallway on my way in/out of the facility, and they’d take the time to give me an update on my mom or stop and answer any questions I had. The nurses were some of the best that we’ve seen in her first 2.5 months of recovery (including hospital stay, rehab hospital, and skilled nursing). They were attentive, kind, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable. I genuinely felt that everyone cared for my mom like she was their family. The speech, occupational, and physical therapists, namely Monica, Connor, Tracy, Lauren, Sarah, Jerelyn, Terissa, and Laura, were SO kind to me and my mother and truly challenged her to improve via varied exercises. What I loved most about the therapy team is that they were incredible about explaining everything to me and mom about what, how, and why they were doing certain exercises. They really spent intentional time working with my mom and she even became “friends” with her therapists. Therapy was normally 3-4 hours per day, which was essential for her recovery. Everyone at Brooks Rehab Hospital showed us that they truly wanted to see my mom improve and succeed, which made me feel comfortable having her stay there. Something we also loved was the security of the building with an arm band system for permitted visitors and security patrolling the building constantly. Her room was nice and spacious with a hospital bed, couch bed, desk area, mini fridge, and full bathroom. We also thought it was so neat that each hallway of her floor was named after a different area of Jacksonville (she was in the Ortega hall). It was the little details of Brooks Rehab Hospital that made her stay comfortable, encouraging, and the biggest blessing. As a 22 year old college student, I was happy to have my mom stay at such a nice facility that could help her recover in ways that I couldn’t help her myself. Thank you Brooks for a wonderful recovery experience and for always treating my mother with respect and kindness!
