CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center - Longview

Positive experience: I have had two surgeries (June and November 2023) and have ongoing therapy. From the patient techs, nursing staff, anesthesiologists and assistants, my surgeons, and the wonderful OTs everybody has been top notch. The care and compassion given has always been excellent. I wish I could say the same for the billing. It's a nightmare. I've had to contact my insurance company to contact billing because payments received weren't posted for months or posted incorrectly. If I didn't check my insurance app (to check for EOBs) and compare it to My Chart information I would not know there have been any of these problems. I had to contact billing to let them know the reason they were still pending an insurance payment was because the claim wasn't filed with my insurance company (billing quickly took care of that within days but when I need detailed billing it takes weeks to get anything). I can never get anybody on the phone (there is no direct number to call) and end up talking to people either in Houston or Tyler. I live 45 miles from Longview and work so I cannot drive over anytime to talk to anyone in person. The office hours for patient financial services are 8 am- noon and 1pm - 4pm which makes it even more difficult to talk in person. Billing problems are the reason I rate Good Shepherd a 3 instead of a 5.

Fantastic experience: Went here recently, they were efficient and got me into an appointment within a week, it’s been three days since my appointment and my labs a back and I’m already scheduled for both a specialist and a follow up with my provider. Fenstermaker was very nice and informative, she took the time to understand what I needed and how to help me.

Fantastic experience: Dr vincifora is an awesome pain management surgical doctor he puts his patients above everything and Good Shepherd Hospital staff were awesome with me they went above and beyond to make sure that I had my surgery on the date I was supposed to and made sure my husband was comfortable while waiting

Fantastic experience: i had a day surgery but for some reason became afraid. was reassured, and treated like family. From checking in to checking out it was a very good experience. The nurses are awesome! Nothing but smiles and I was made to feel it was their privaledhe to take care of me. I truly felt well cared for.
