The Arbors: Reviews
Fantastic experience: My mother was there a few months ago and twice before that and the staff was very helpful and good to her during her stay .
Positive experience: My mother was a resident here for a short while after her hospitalization at BSA, for her occupational and physical therapy. Everyone was very professional and helpful, especially Yvette (from Perryton) :-), one of the nurses who was extermely helpful and accommodating when discussing my mother's medicine intake. We know and realized that God is in control of all things and He has sent angels such as Yvette and the other staff, to help watch over our loved ones. Nice and clean. I would change up the food menu to be more accommodating for the residents and more enjoyable. Overall, my mom's stay was a good experience. Congratulations to Portia and Nurse Practitioner Kelly and others on the birth of their babies. To God be the glory!!!!
Negative experience: My grandmother came to this location after having "fainting spells". I will say the staff I met was inviting and informative, but my visits were very minimal compared to my grandmother's stay and majority of my review is based on her and other family's statements in hopes things can be improved. Her initial feeling upon arrival was fear due to the individuals setting her room up not making any conversation with her at all and only talking among themselves. Overall she stated the rest of the staff was pretty good in their interactions with her aside from a grumpy night staffer who seemed to correct his attitude after the one night and the doctor. The doctor who visited her was clueless as to why she was there and was disinterested in what she had to say when he could have looked at her chart. Orders for her topical cream and compression socks were very delayed and resulted in pain and discomfort. Her stay there was longer than needed and it was questioned by many staff members why she was still there. Although she would have her vitals taken and food delivered to her room, she felt forgotten. My biggest complaint is that on 3 occasions she was given the wrong medications. My grandmother KNOWS her medicine and she saved her own life and possibly others by catching these mistakes. We have no idea how often this happens, but 3 times for 1 individual in just under a few weeks is terrifying. There needs to be a better system. I really hope this review helps in correcting these issues. The building was very nice with a lot of places to go and chat. She enjoyed the food quite a bit and did have some favorite people who really helped her during her stay. I want to thank those individuals so much. Keep doing what you're doing. I know this job is not an easy job and you can only do so much.
Negative experience: My mother went there after a hip replacement. While each time I went to see her she was happy, dressed in clean clothes, and well-fed, nothing much else went well. It was very difficult to get information from them. They had a way to sign up to discuss a care plan weekly, but had no protocol for when the person who did that job was out. As a result I only had one care plan meeting and only received information one time-3 days before she was discharged. No one was ever able to give me much information when I asked during my visits. They just referred me to the number to get a care plan meeting. Her wound was seeping so they had to change the bandage. I’m glad they did, but they didn’t tell anyone-not me, not the doctor. As a result, my mother went 3 weeks with a seeping wound. They were told to put on a wound vac. However they removed it a couple of times and did not sent it home with her as they said they would. As a result, we’ve spent 4 hours today waiting for another surgery and a possible second stint in rehab, or six weeks of IV antibiotics if there’s an infection. Nice, clean facility, nice people, but I would definitely not recommend.
Negative experience: JUST SAY NO! My mother came to the Arbors on a Sunday afternoon. Her legs were swollen the whole time. They said it would go down. She had congestive heart failure. They should of been on top of it. On Wednesday, the doctor there put her on a diuretic but she didn't recive it until that night. Her legs were still very swollen from top to bottom. She felt the worst she has ever felt that night. Next day, I called my mom. She said her legs were really hurting her. She didn't feel good. I go to see her after work at 5:00(We had to schedule times to go see her.) When I got there, there was an ambulance with my mom in it. The nurse came out after they left to take her to the hospital and explained to us what was going on. The nurse was like they have the medicine there to get everything back to normal. Acting like it was no big deal.(My mom was delirious, she couldn't breath, and they barely could get a pulse.) Long story short, My mom was pronounced dead at 6:00. They should of called the doctor sooner in the week to figure out why my mom's legs were still swollen etc. They didn't care. Rarely checked on her. Here she was in rehab to help her recover and she died instead. When I went back to pick up my mom's belongings that night, they said they were sorry about my mom just like saying I'm sorry I forgot to get your coke. Very disappointing!!!!
Negative experience: MY NAME IS NOT IMPORTANT ------ BUT I HAD A HIP REPLACEMENT IN JUNE 2022I CAME HERE AND THEY WERE RUDE AN- UN- CARING AN THE STAFF STOLE ALL MY PERSONALS - AND MY JEWLERY TOO !!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE ALL FAKE AN DONT WANT TO TAKE CARE OF YOU !!!!!!!! THANK GOD FOR MY GRAND BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!! AN SECRETLY IM GETTING A LAWYER AN IM GOING TO SUE THE PANTS OFF OF THE ARBOR!!!!!!!!!!! I ALSO CONTACTED OTHER PEOPLE WHO STAYED HERE AN THEY TOO HAD AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE ---SOME SO BAD THEY CRYED AND CRYRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KARMA U KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Negative experience: My father in law spent 3.5 weeks in The Arbors. He did not receive the care or rehab he should have had. My mother in law was in his room 24/7 with the occasional time to go home for a shower. She cared for him the entire time he was there. They are so short staffed he would go all weekend without any therapy and not even be moved from the bed to the chair. He fell while in their care on the first night. He also broke his thumb while in the Arbors and they failed to note this in his records. His surgeon put an order in for a splint/brace to be placed on the thumb. It took them over 2 weeks to get it put on. The Dr. also ordered therapy 3 times a day. He was lucky if he got therapy once a day. They considered moving him from the bed to a chair therapy. They passed over doing his laundry this past week and he went an entire week without a bath. That is uncalled for! I know there’s not a lot of rehab choices in Amarillo, but know before you choose The Arbors for your loved one, this place is very short staffed.
Negative experience: My mother stayed at the Arbor’s for 2 weeks. On the plus side the food was good. But it was very noisy at night, the nurses aides were quite loud at night. Hearing personal discussions and complaining about their jobs! My mother would not recommend staying at this place!
Fantastic experience: My 94 year old mother was there in 2017. She had a number of serious health issues. The Arbors made her feel at home, in a warm environment. The nurses and CNAS were exceptional, especially Dana Ham and Tonya Coble. It was a blessing that my Mother was at the Arbors. I would refer anyone's family member there.
Fantastic experience: Very clean environment, Great place.
Fantastic experience: My Grandmother has stayed at the Arbors twice due to falls. It is a wonderful facility with outstanding staff. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: The staff at the Arbors were all very nice, caring, and professional both time's that I've been there i would highly recommend going there for your rehabilitation after the hospital!! The room that i had was big and had a pretty comfortable bed with a big handicap accessible restroom and shower area!! You won't regret choosing The Arbors for your rehabilitation needs and maybe if your lucky you'll have an awesome nurse like i did Dana Ham!!! God Bless You and have a Beautiful Day!!! @>--;---
Negative experience: Not as impressed. I was told it was a wonderful place and I am not so sure.
