Fantastic experience: After my 27 year old daughters diving accident left her quadriplegic thou she had an incomplete spinal cord injury .i was so blown away by every thing they covered not only for her recovery but also for me its a devastating time. Its not the end but a new beginning. tThis is what they teach. Twice we have been there. Two years ago we went to Panama for stem cell treatment at the Stem Cell Institute and she is beginning to walk Shepard gave us so much hope

Fantastic experience: Hi, i am brenda johnson, my newphew, steven bailey was in a horrific accident on Aug 18th 2015 . my sister Judy Bailey has been by his side non stop. She is Steven's mother. when Steven started out he was in Florence, S.C., the DRS. said Steven would never make it through the weekend, well he did, THank you, GOD. weeks went by,Steven's eye's were fixed like that was it, but his body didn't listen, it was still showing sign of life. well. they then sent him to Charleston, S.C.. Where he stayed for a month or more. He was sent there for therapy,Well that hospital did not do therapy what, that was our question. what was he there for ? Well the DRS there didn't have any hope for Steven either. Someone call Sheperd Center,well they came in and wanted Steven to go there for his therapy. i don't think the DRS expected much from Steven either but, with in a week Steven was on a bike,eating small amounts of solid foods and now he can talk to you on the phone lol thank GOD ! .Mind you, Steven has a long way to go yet but, HE IS ALIVE . This is why My Sister needs our help, so She can continue to stay with her,son, STEVEN BAILEY HE LIVES BECAUSE GOD WAS READY FOR HIM YET. Please, feel free to follow steven from now on . Fantastic experience: Absolutely spot on diagnosis, follow through, professionalism, and definitely invested in us as patients from the moment they meet us until the moment we are released from their care. Strong physically independent people whose temples no longer respond the way they want can be quite difficult to endure during a tough time of transition and acceptance. I applaud all that I met during my Tough and Traumatic journey. Thank Goodness for Second chances to Live, Love, Adapt, Surmount Challenges, and to Ascend; AGAIN. Fantastic experience: My experience with the ladies in the MS Wellness Center has been nothing short of wonderful. The 2 PTs that I had the immense pleasure of dealing with, Anneke and Caitlin, were amazing. I know the goal of physical therapy is to, hopefully, not need it anymore but I was VERY sad to learn that I had improved and was ready to be discharged. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend.

Fantastic experience: Truly an AMAZING place. My husband was a patient there last year. We thank GOD for the Sheperd Center & it's staff.

Positive experience: I am very conflicted with Shepherd Center's commitment to care. It seems the quality has dropped significantly within the past decade. The physical and occupational therapists, psychiatrists, and nurses are outstanding in their field. I have nothing bad to say regarding them, specifically the SCI-5 team and parts of SCI-4. But the techs are dangerously under trained. Many times, I had to jump in and assist because they do not know how to properly and safely use the hoier/lift, and almost dropped my loved one to the ground twice. They are not hygienic, being they touch all of the doors and drawers after gloving up, and tend to neglect their patients if they think their caregiver/loved one/advocate is not around or paying attention. The nurses and OT/PT remarked that I had an eagerness to assist and learn the proper care techniques immediately. Well, yeah. After what I witnessed, who wouldn't? Tech Jess of SCI-5 is the ONLY tech I can honestly shout out as being caring, loving, and meticulous in her work. I felt that my loved one was cared for and safe during her shift. I wish more techs were like her at SC.

Fantastic experience: Two of my friends at different times were at Shepherd Clay had broken neck and was life flighted from motocross wreck in Bremen. Sharon had multiple spine and brain injuries and today Clay is completely healed and an award winning dj he actually spins and mixes music with his hands and turntables nothing digital. Sharon has made amazing progress after 4 months in a coma. You can find no better place to get the best recovery. Clay was paralyzed from his neck down. You would never know that he has ever suffered such an injury. God bless Shepherd and the wonderful staff and work they do.

Fantastic experience: My husband was a patient at Shepherd Center in July 2021 after his May 2021 TBI - had initially been projected to be permanently and significantly disabled, and were supposed to be there 6-10 weeks, but results began within a day of the rigorous structured rehab and by the end of the 3rd week, we were able to go home and one more month later after continuing progress with OP rehab, he was cleared to go back to work and completely released a few months later. Shepherd Center is truly amazing - they took amazing care not just of my husband but of me as well - they recognize the role and impact of the primary caregiver and administered care to me as much as to my husband and they continue to be part of our lives today. I will forever be thankful for them.

Fantastic experience: Here is a picture of my sweet sister who has continued to benefit from The Shepherds Center after a car accident which resulted in a TBI. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate Shepherd Center. She is a happy, functioning member of society.

Fantastic experience: All of the staff at this place was super nice. Made me feel like I was on the cast of the good place. Asking if I had died and was supposed to be there. Clean helpful and the food was awesome. Biscuit and sausage gravy was my favorite. Thanks guys you all are great. Everyone says hello or good morning or day. You feel very welcome. And they have case managers and other people to help with whatever your going thru. The smoking area does close at night so if you can't sleep a night you might go crazy wanting a smoke.

Fantastic experience: If you have a spinal cord injury this is the place to go. They have top notch doctors and therapists. The inpatient facility has highly qualified nurses and medical care 24x7. Equipment is in excellent shape. Family housing is a very nice apartment and comfortable. They have done wonders for my Son and I will be forever grateful for there help.

Fantastic experience: My father was in Shepherd last summer(2017). He was in a car accident that rendered him unable to walk or use his arms. He was beginning to have movement in all four limbs! He had a surgery and was in the best of hands We could go home every evening KNOWING that he was cared for in a compassionate, caring and professional manner Unfortunately the next “ Recovery rehab” ( nursing home) PROVIDENCE "Healthcare" of Thomaston Ga , didn't care.. The care was so substandard that he was in hospice 2 weeks later, where he passed..."rehab translates to " NURSING HOME "!! I will always be extremely grateful to Shepherd for the wonderful care of my father . Thank you 3rd floor staff. We are forever grateful. Thank you Shepherd! Much love , Dee Dinsmore Spivey

Fantastic experience: I have had 3 spine surgeries and was in an accident almost 2 years ago that has caused my spine to be in bad shape with many challenges. I was referred to Dr. Erik Shaw at Shepherd, words cannot express how grateful I am that I found him, Holly his PA and their staff are truly amazing. Everything is always on time I never wait in the waiting room and they genially treat you with such care and compassion. I have a long road ahead of me but with a team like this I am confident they will get me there. For those that deal with Nerve Pain Injuries you know what I am saying here! Thank you to all of you for all your care this far! :)

Fantastic experience: My daughter was admitted with a traumatic brain injury. She spent 5 weeks at the facility. She received amazing care from her Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, and Nurse Techs. They were patient with her and adjusted her meds as needed. After 2 weeks in the facility I got my daughter back. The healing of the brain and the care from the facility helped her to heal.We are truly blessed that someone from Grady referred her .

Fantastic experience: I was a patient in the Shepherd Spinal Center from December of 2020 to March of 2021 and then received further outpatient therapy at Shepherd Pathways until May of 2021. During the time after my injury, I had some of the best care I have ever had in a hospital or rehab facility from Shepherd Center. I don't think my current outlook on life would be nearly as hopeful if it weren't for all the love, support, and care from all the staff—doctors, nurses, nurse techs, therapists, and even custodians—at Shepherd Center.

Fantastic experience: My fiancé recently was diagnosed with multiple Sclerosis in February 2021. They are amazing here, every person you pass in the hall asks how you’re doing smiles and is genuine. Fantastic experience: Great facility for rehabilitation. I had a spinal cord injury at 35 and they helped me understand sci and my injury. How to take care of myself and get my life back with some sense of normalcy. This facility and employees are truly amazing and I can’t appreciate them enough!

Fantastic experience: I was in a horrific motorcycle accident October 8, 2011. I was not expected to live much less be anything more than a wheelchair bound man the rest of my life. I was blessed to be a patient at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. It’s a brain and spinal cord rehabilitation center. It’s an amazing place. I call it Gods workshop because I’m a miracle.

Fantastic experience: Was in a big truck wreck. Sustained a T.B.I.. likely would not be able to do half the things I can do thanks to them. Not just the Doctors but everyone. Therapists, nurses, all the techs and all who support were absolutely the most helpful, friendly and patient people I have had to deal with in the medical field. Cannot say enough good about this organization. Love what they do. Pathways is included!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Today marks the one year anniversary of my stroke. If not for the amazing care at the Sheppard Center, I could be a bedridden, paralyzed patient in one of our local nursing homes. My true, heartfelt thanks to the doctors and all the providers at the Shepherd Center! I am eternally grateful for the Doctor that decided to do one more surgery, the Physical Therapists that ignored my pleas to skip the workouts and of course, the nurses that did so much every day without a hint of complaining! Thank you all for returning me to my wife and my life. May God bless each and every one of you!!

Fantastic experience: Everyone on my father’s therapy team are strong, selfless, miracle workers. He didn’t want to leave and misses all of them, but they are the reason that he was able to leave the amazing facilities at Shepherd, and with great confidence and inspiration... our family has been inspired by this team and the Shepherd center as a whole.

Fantastic experience: This may be the best hospital for spinal column injury in the country. They really know how to not only take care of patients but also rehab them. If you want to walk again after an injury this is the spot for you - they will push you. Love the staff that's been caring for my mom and can't say enough good stuff about this place.

Fantastic experience: I have followed a family member of mine as she got there a week ago, its amazing the progress she has made. I also know two other people that have had SCI that went to rehab here and their recovery was amazing. Nothing but good things to say about this rehab!!

Fantastic experience: I had a SCI in 2003 & was an in-house patient for 8-10wks(Over 2 months!) I do not have the skill or talent to properly express in words not only the excellence in care I received but the care I witnessed so many others & OUR FAMILIES received at the Shepherd Center Spinal Cord & Brain Injury Rehabilitation Hospital! ...Its impossible to explain the RAW FEAR & CRUSHING ANXIETY one feels to anyone who has never gone through the horrible nightmare of a SCI...With one huge exception, the staff at the Shepherd Center! You want to close your eyes & give up but they won't let that happen! The compassion & true dedication to their profession shown by the techs, nurses, rehab specialist, doctor's & literally everyone else that works there from case workers to security is so HEART WARMING!!! ...Since my discharge as an in-house patient in 2003 I've been a regular patient at the Shepherd Center's Multi-Specialty, Urology & the Pain Institute. I cringe at the thought of what shape I would be in w/o everyone doing what they do at the Shepherd Center!! ...About the 1-2 STAR REVIEWS...When a family member is a patient at the Shepherd Center then their loved one is going through the worst nightmare of their life & the family is forced to witness it! There isn't a more helpless feeling one could experience I know my wife had TBI prior to my SCI. Some can handle these horrible times better than others while others need someone or something to place blame, be mad at, etc., as a way to cope. Might not explain each of the few 1-2 Star ratings but Im sure it explains many! ...Or Shepherd Center would not be ranked as one of the Top 10 hospitals in the nation for the last 20yrs.

Fantastic experience: Man, do I want to sit down with and talk about how Shepherd didn’t meet each one-star-reviewer’s expectations or what!!!!!!! I am so fired up to prove each one-star-reviewer wrong!! This hospital is MAGICAL!!!!!! I am a recovering TBI patient, and I’ve been a Shepherd patient for like nearly 4 years now, and I’m always so so thankful for their consistent, committed, and bountiful service!!! This hospital DEFINITELY deserves 5 stars (if not more if it was possible lol)!!!!

Fantastic experience: My husband was in the hospital here with a central spinal cord injury. This hospital and employees are absolutely amazing! We were very blessed to have Dr. Elmers and she is the best. Great personality and amazing doctor. I just can't express how blessed we were to have went to Shepherd's Center. Fantastic experience: 5 stars because I cant give TEN. These people are amazing. They truly gave us our life back after a spinal cord injury that almost took it. I am still in touch with several of our nurses to this day.......... almost 3 years after our graduation back home. Pray you never need them, THANK GOD daily they are there if you do!!

Fantastic experience: My husband suffered a TBI earlier this year and was transferred to the Shepherd Center from the ICU/hospital. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place from the cafeteria employees to the nurses, doctors, and therapists that we came into contact with during our stay. The care my husband was given was top notch, and the care and consideration that I was given helped me more than I could ever say. It was very obvious if you want a job there, you can't just have the teaching or experience, you also have to have a caring heart, because just about every single person went above and beyond. I am very thankful for this facility and its staff.

Fantastic experience: Suffered a severe TBI. Was minimally conscious when they first got me there. Walked out on my own two feet 3 months later. Great doctors and therapists.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient for almost 3 years now and I love everything I absolutely love it. I started out as inpatient then went on to outpatient. I highly recommend this place. I was strongly considering moving back to Los Angeles but am now going to stay here in Atlanta because Shepherd is here.

Fantastic experience: I have Multiple Sclerosis and Crohn's Disease. I'm so lucky to have been able to get in to Shepherd MS Clinic. After an hour long meeting with my Doctor there, he prescribed a MS Maintenance Med Tysabri Infusions has stopped my Flares with BOTH Diseases! I can't say how nice it is to go in and feel like you're welcome and with family. There is a family room where the kids can go play games etc as well. And it's not just for MS Patients. They are top's in the World for Head Trauma Patients including our USA Military Veterans with PTSD

Fantastic experience: C2 quad, I'm hesitant to talk about my progress b/c one cannot and should not compare their progress with that of ANYONE else, but it needs to be said that they will push and encourage you to work as hard as you can to make the best out of the worst thing that will hopefully ever happen to you.

Fantastic experience: I been here on two different occasions...2007 my friend was in a major car wreck... They help him ...2013 my cousin was in a ATV wreck .. Major head trauma.. When he got there... He couldn't breathe on his own...after few months...They nurses and Doctors had him rolling his wheel chair... To some thats not much... But after seeing him on his death bed... To our family thats major .... No he is walking, talking and driving cars only.... No more ATV'S

Fantastic experience: The Shepherd Center is absolutly amazing. My nephew was hit by a train and has been recovering very quickly in this facility. The staff is amazing and informative, they have answers for any question and really seem to care for your loved one. I have never been in such a great hospital enviroment.
