Athletico Physical Therapy - Milwaukee Eastside

Fantastic experience: Athletico physical therapy on Downer Ave. is a professional well run organization. The front desk personnel is always pleasant, knowledgeable and able to meet my scheduling needs. The physical therapist I worked with thoroughly evaluated my condition and planned a course of effective therapy. He listened to me describe my progress or problems and made several as needed "course corrections" as I improved. Therapy and the recommended home exercises relieved most of my pain and restored all of my functionality. I highly recommend this facility.

Fantastic experience: Long overdue review, but I had a wonderful experience with Martha and the eastside Athletico team. I came in as an endurance runner seeking rehab following a severe hip stress fracture and surgery, and I was questioning whether I would ever return to consistent running again. PT gave me a solid strength plan, form improvements, and hope that has supported me in my return to sport. A little over one year out from my injury, and I'm even starting a gradual return to marathon training :)

Fantastic experience: Well this is long overdue! I went to physical therapy here for about half a year after breaking both my ankles. Martha was amazing and made the whole experience great. I have had physical therapy in the past before and it was always beyond boring and just super frustrating to attend. With Martha I felt like I was being taken care of and actually treated like a person and not just a number. I was happy when the time came for me to graduate from physical therapy, but I was also sad because it meant not seeing all the wonderful staff at Athletico anymore.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved doing my physical here! The facility is very accessible since it is on Downer and the staff is so welcoming. Would most definitely recommend to anyone in the Milwaukee area.

Fantastic experience: Martha was my primary PT and she was incredible. She expertly diagnosed the real source of a nagging injury that was bothering me for awhile (when attempts at self-diagnosis and visits to a chiropractor could not figure it out) and put a focused rehab plan in place that addressed the issue. It allowed me to return to sports and other activities with no further pain and provided me with real methods for prevention and self-care in the future. Also received exceptional and always courteous help from Stephanie and Kayla throughout my experience. Very impressed with the level of care and I highly recommend AthleticoEastside for anyone recovering from injury.

Fantastic experience: My first physical experience was quite scary and i didnt really know what i was getting into. The staff here are extremely helpful and compassionate, Martha was amazing and made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process! I will forever recommend this spot to regain your body’s potential in getting back in shape.

Fantastic experience: I found myself hobbling and lacking balance just as we were preparing for a trip to Rome for 2 weeks. I had previous experience with the Eastside Athletico for a similar problem and called for a referral from my family practice doc. Athletico got me in right away and Martha, the wonderful pt, evaluated me, gave a logical explanation for what she thought was happening, and exercises to do. I was on a tight time line before leaving, and she worked with my limitations, pain and my busy schedule. Martha had me walking by the time I left, and I was able to hike around the hills with my family. Thank you, Martha, and all the staff. I am grateful for the work you do.

Fantastic experience: Stephanie Bandura is a knowledgeable and considerate therapist. The training plan strikes the right balance, offering a challenge while not aggravating my injuries. The exercises are also easy to do at home. I have seen progress with my ability to do activity. The whole team at Athletico is upbeat. It is a fun place to go for physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: When going into rehab/physical therapy, people are usually apprehensive, anxious, and a bit afraid. Meaghan and her entire staff help to ease these emotions as soon as you walk through the door. Everyone is always welcoming you in with a genuine smile. As for the PT, Meaghan is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to listen to how your feeling even if something else is hurting outside of what you originally came to her for. This is extremely important as she doesn’t only treat the symptoms, she finds the cause and and ultimately, this allows you to walk out of Athletico feeling like a new person once the PT has been completed. I hope I don’t have to go through any kind of rehab again however, if I do, I’m going back to Meaghan and her team. Please express my gratitude to Meaghan and her team for a job well done. I’m feeling great and it’s due to their professionalism and heartfelt concern for the healing and well-being of everyone walking through the door.

Fantastic experience: June 25th, 2021 I suffered a pelvis fracture and an extended hairline fracture at the bottom of my spine. I could not walk, let alone move much. I can’t express how grateful I am to have gone here and met the wonderful crew working here, especially working with Bibin Augustine. In the short amount of time I was with him, he successfully aided in my complete recovery after 8 months post accident. He was very professional from the time I first entered those doors through the last. Not only was he professional, he encouraged me during the times I would struggle and reassured me whenever I had any doubts about my own capabilities. Bibin also made an emphasis on establishing a create form of communication between him and I. There was always an opportunity for my own input regarding anything with my rehabilitation. Bibin is a very genuine, kind, humorous, but above all else, exceptional Physical Therapist. If you are fortunate enough to have him as your PT, just know that you’re in good hands.

Fantastic experience: Bibin and the team were terrific! They helped me work out both elbow tendinitis and hip issues over a few weeks. They were considerate and concerned, and worked well with me to resolve my issues.

Fantastic experience: This is my second time going to Megan for PT and she is amazing. She helped my be able to keep training for my marathon and I am not more flexible then I ever have been and have no pain in my knee. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: My experience with PT at Athletico was outstanding. Stephanie at the Downer Ave location was fantastic. As was the entire staff. I was 6 months out of my last hip replacement and was having pain in the hip area as well as multiple locations of upper leg, with constant bruising and stiffness with any activity. After the 1st session of Needling and some pinpoint exercises I was stunned to see how much better I felt the next day. My strength came back, all of the pain is gone and my range of motion is back to what it was 10 years ago, pre hip replacements. I am back in the gym daily after 4 weeks. Thx Stephanie for taking the time to work with me, I appreciated all of your expertise on what exercises to do and helpful tips for training. Fantastic experience: Bibin was my therapist the majority of my time and he is a very kind and pleasant person! Everyone seems very happy to be there and cares about the clients.

Fantastic experience: I broke my leg on 8/29 and was in a total leg immobility cast for 4 weeks and was not allowed to put weight on my leg for another 4 weeks. After those 8 weeks I could not walk without a walker or a cane. Now, because of Tony and Stephanie at Athletico i am walking stairs. I took my dog for her first walk on Friday 12/30. I didn’t think that was possible. Thank you Tony and Steph. You are the best. The rest of the staff at Athletico is friendly and just as amazing. Helen Kynaston

Fantastic experience: Prior to determining my L5-S1 disc herniation needed surgery, Bibin helped me for two months working with pain management and overall strengthening of my back muscles. Since we didn't know exactly what was going on at the time, he did multiple tests with me to try and target what was wrong. Although I found out surgery was inevitable for me, I do not regret the time/money I spent here working with Bibin. I feel that my dedication to the workouts given to me prior to surgery actually benefited me in my recovery. I will definitely be coming back here for any of my PT needs.

Fantastic experience: Never a great situation having to go to physical therapy due to an injury, but so glad that I picked this Athletico location. Bibin was great to work with - he listened to what my goals were and got me on track to meet them. Happy to say my range of motion is back and I’m pain free now, but if I ever have the need for PT again, I know I’ll be back to this location to work with him again!

Fantastic experience: Quite frankly, I owe this clinic my ability to walk today! After a golf injury, the PT's at this clinic accurately identified that I had a spinal issue that PT alone likely would not fix, and recommended me to a local orthopedic spine surgeon. I actually needed an emergency spinal surgery to preserve my ability to walk, and subsequently completed 6 months of physical therapy with this location afterwards. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this clinic, its staff, and all of the therapists! I worked closely with many of the therapists due to the number of sessions I needed to complete, and can honestly say you cannot go wrong with any of the PT's. Megan, Stephanie and Martha are caring, knowledgeable, and knew when I could test my strength and boundaries while still making me feel confident and capable! They assisted me with how to best take care of a new scar, best stretches and movements I could do at home as well. The aides that support the PT's helped during busy times, and I always felt that I was a valued patient in the clinic, even when they were busy. There always seems to be an upbeat attitude in the clinic! All of the front desk staff made scheduling easy; they worked with me and all my doctor appointments and when I went back to work. They took care of all communications with my insurance company, and I genuinely looked forward to visiting the team every time I walked in the door. I can honestly say I miss seeing everyone at Athletico Eastside!

Fantastic experience: Everyone is really caring and encouraging! Megan helped me so much in my recovery going above and beyond to help me heal and get back to doing what I love. I'm glad to be healed and moving on to the next thing, but I will miss the friendly environment and having Bibin to cheer me on!

Fantastic experience: I completed my physical therapy following a total knee replacement. This is my second experience at Athletico on Downer Ave. I would not go anywhere else! The atmosphere is courteous and professional. Physical therapist Stephanie is outstanding. She was encouraging, supportive and very knowledgeable. Overall, Athletico provides a great experience for individuals seeking recovery from minor to major conditions.

Fantastic experience: Few months late review but would HIGHLY recommend. I worked with Drew for a shoulder injury that I was actually going to have surgery on. I had daily pain from regular activities that was exacerbated by exercise. After working with Drew twice a week for 5-6 weeks my shoulder has improved drastically! No more daily pain and as long as I'm sure to warm up no pain after exercise either! Much better investment than surgery!

Fantastic experience: I just completed 6 weeks of PT to address chronic elbow, shoulder and back issues, complicated by multiple recent trigger finger surgeries on both hands. Victoria Dechant was my PT and Michael Boettcher was the office coordinator. Victoria and Michael continued my excellent prior experiences in the last 2 years at the Milwaukee Eastside location (2 sessions of 9 weeks each for knee replacements). They keep this location immaculate and they diligently maintained coronavirus protocols. Victoria and Michael maintain an upbeat and friendly neighborhood vibe at all times. I have never had any insurance issues and they are flexible and responsive in scheduling. Victoria is professional and always well prepared. While maintaining a friendly and relaxed demeanor, she always kept me on an efficient no wasted time schedule. Mixing in a broad range of different activities, she was always willing to patiently explain likely causes for my issues and how we were addressing them. I also appreciate the clear instructions and handouts for my at home workouts. They will continue to be my go-to PT when issues arise.

Fantastic experience: I've been here twice in the last couple years - once for a serious leg injury and once for a muscle strain. The staff is quite knowledgable, friendly and extremely helpful. Scheduling is easy. Highly recommend.

Victoria and Theodore are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, they will help you recover and make going to your appointments enjoyable. Their workouts accommodate those in pain and focus on relieving your pain before strengthening. Finally, Mike is great and makes their scheduling easy and flexible. Don't wait!

I completed a course of PT with everything I needed to continue the program that was designed for me. The staff there are unfailingly upbeat, welcoming and energetic. Fantastic experience: I have been to Athletico for two separate injuries and have always been extremely satisfied with my experience. The staff is very warm and welcoming, as is the space (compared to most PT offices that feel like sterile doctors' offices). While I'd rather not need PT, I have always enjoyed my time coming to Athletico!

Fantastic experience: I play violin for 5 hours most days of the week, and my neck and shoulder blades were continually bunched and uncomfortable. In a few sessions, Victoria was able to get me much more range of motion and less pain at work. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I arrived at Athletico hobbled by knee tendonitis, which had waylaid me for over a year and blocked my daily run. I'm an older guy (60) and I've seen some wear and tear (football, motorcycles), so I just figured that my body had had enough. But a friend suggested PT, so I gave it a shot. Victoria assessed me, created an eight week program of strengthening, stretching, and massage and, God bless her, got me back on the road. Victoria loves her work and does it REALLY well. Mike (front desk) keeps the place running smoothly with a smile on his face. They've made a believer of me. Athletico has earned my highest recommendation. Also, I referred my family to them.

Fantastic experience: I was referred here by my surgeon after I got hip surgery. He recommended that I go to Sam for my PT. I am 2.5 months post-op and I can definitely tell that what she has me doing is working. She is very personable and is great at motivating you to get work done. Speaking on behalf of the facility and the rest of the staff, I could not choose a better place to go. Everyone here is so nice and accommodating. If you ever need to have any type of PT done I highly recommend you coming here!

Fantastic experience: I came here after having some shoulder pain from playing rugby. I received a free evaluation and a referral to a local orthopedic specialist. I ended up having surgery on a pretty bad tear in my labrum. I came back here and worked with Sam during my rehab sessions. She is a very personable and informed person. She was always willing to give me in depth explanations for every question I asked and was always willing to have conversations about what's up in life. Other than Sam being awesome the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful every time I came in. After 3.5 months of rehab I have seen tremendous progress and just finished my last session. I left today feeling like I won't be seeing a group of friends anymore. I was also given a list of exercises and ways to contact them as I finish the finals steps of getting to 100%. I have a had a great experience here and everyone I have met while coming here has expressed the same feeling.

Fantastic experience: Athletico on Downer Ave., Milwaukee Eastside was wonderful for my husband, Neil. It is a very well run, clean facility conveniently located with wonderful, caring staff. Samantha Bielen, PT, DPT, ATC is a terrific physical therapist while also functioning as the Facility Manager. Ms. Bielen knows her stuff, is very professional, knowledgeable, on point, as well as very personable, interested in results and her client's overall health. She followed his health issues and blood pressure and provided supportive professional guidance and oversight. She got my husband to do the exercises and to keep it up which I was not able to do historically. She is the best that we have been to! And that includes 2 other states - Maryland and Florida. Michael, who staffs the front desk, is likewise professional, personable, flexible and made the registration process and scheduling or rescheduling easy and was always helpful, pleasant and made us feel welcomed and valued.

Fantastic experience: Definitely come here if you need therapy or an evaluation! I got a free evaluation from Dr. Bielen, and worked with her to correct some hamstring problems before my season began. It was a great environment that made me feel welcome. The rehab process was much less of a chore and I enjoyed my time getting to know the staff. Very understanding and flexible with everyone's needs!

Fantastic experience: Stop! This is the place to come after surgery (I was shoulder decompression - which I was dreading) or any nagging issue you might want to review with a PT. These guys got me to workout, build muscle, and have a pretty good time. Drew is uber-educated as your PT (call him Hollywood - he likes it) and Dani manages this location flawlessly and was very flexible with my requests and scheduling and I am not easy. I brought questions to Drew every visit from diet to healthy exercising and even what to do in MKE - as I just arrived in December. I miss them and I know they miss me :) Now I go to Planet Fitness!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended! I broke my leg and my ankle back in September, and Victoria did an incredible job getting me back on my feet. She was knowledgeable and kept me motivated. I went twice a week for about 3 months. During my first session, I wasn’t even able to stand on my left foot for a whole second. I left my last session feeling ready to get back to my normal daily life. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and worked very well together to ensure every patient received the best care. Fantastic experience: I broke my tib/fib in January and was fortunate enough to have Victoria as my physical therapist throughout my recovery. She was THE BEST medical professional I had on my team and I honestly do not think I would be on the road to full recovery without her. Not only was she an incredibly knowledgable, talented, and skilled therapist, she also advocated for me when I could not get answers from doctors or insurance companies, she did research for me to help me better understand the complexities of my injury, and she frequently checked in on me to monitor my progress. I would highly recommend going here and requesting Victoria to anyone who is recovering from an injury or dealing with pain management. In addition to Victoria- Mike, Tanner, and the rest of the staff have all been very helpful and warm with me. I honestly really look forward to my physical therapy sessions and enjoy going here. Fantastic experience: I broke my knee in 2015 and was so so lucky to wind up in the care of this Althetico facility. Appointment times were available. Every staff member was friendly and open. They care. They'll listen to you moan about life. They push you, just enough. They played Christmas movies. When I had the metal from that knee surgery removed, requested this facility for my physical therapy. SO glad my original PT SAM B. was was still there; we made exceptional progress. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

Fantastic experience: I came into Athletico with tremendous pain in my left foot and graduated walking better than I have in a long time. The staff was very accommodating to my schedule with making appointments. They are also very understanding and listen in a caring way to your concerns. I highly recommend Sam for your PT, she is a miracle worker!

Fantastic experience: After bilateral labrum repairs about 3 years apart I came here for both post surgical rehabs. Sam Bielen was my physical therapist. She was incredibly personable and accommodating during my recovery. I actually looked forward to physical therapy because she is such an upbeat & happy person. Fantastic experience: I was diagnosed in the fall with Spondylolisthesis and over the past few months have had several spurts of severe pain where I was hardly able to walk or stand. I began PT in August and worked with Dr. Craig Becknell twice a week. Every time I was in discomfort the staff were extremely accommodating with appointments and adjusting treatment plans accordingly. If I had not had such a positive and successful experience with physical therapy I would have had to begin cortisone injections. Fortunately, with the care and thoroughly developed and thoughtful exercises, stretches, and strengthening I have gone weeks without any pain or discomfort and am back to running 6 miles at a time with no pain! The staff at this specific location is incredibly friendly, welcoming, understanding, and it's transparent how much they genuinely care about your health and getting you back on your feet. These DPTs know their stuff and go above and beyond for their patients!

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for a top notch facility with a talented staff then look no further. Both my wife and I rehabbed serious knee injuries at this facility and both of our experiences were as good as it gets. The staff is friendly, the service is fantastic, and the therapists really know their stuff. Additionally, the therapists go through great efforts to put together a recovery program that is specific to your unique needs and evolves with your progress. For example, I'm a big basketball fan, that's how I hurt my knee, so Sam had me doing agility drills and grabbing rebounds towards the end of my program. That level of personal touch makes the entire program enjoyable and keeps things fresh. I enjoyed my sessions so much that I looked forward to them every week. In summary, if you have a good attitude and are willing to put in the work, Athletico will help you make a full recovery and make the journey enjoyable.
