Farnum Center: Opiniones

Experiencia fantástica: I have read some of the negative reviews on here and the only thing I can say is when your going through detox every bad thing that happens is greatly magnified and things are not always as bad as you think. It’s a detox not day camp. If you are truly being sick and tired of being sick and tired and you want help getting clean and sober I would suggest going to Farnum. This place definitely saved my life. If you are looking for a place that will help in your recovery then please reach out to them. I didn’t get it right the first time so I’ve been there twice over the course of 5 years but both times I’ve been there all of the staff were all very helpful and caring. To anyone reading this “you are not alone and recovery is at your fingertips.” Good luck!

Farnum Center

Thank you, James. We are proud to be part of your recovery.

Experiencia positiva: My experience was good but not the best I i was in the 28 day program i was bullied by almost all the girls I was in there with except for my roommate she was very kind and compassionet my case manager acted like I was bothering her when I knocked on her office door and she would just close it in my face or just ignore me and pretend she didn't hear me they took most of my art stuff and locked it up even when I expressed that my artwork is a huge part of my recovery but then allowed the other girls to have all of their art stuff the day I got there they told me I wasn't allowed to come back and ordered me an Uber in a city I didn't know at all when I was at the hospital they allowed all the other clients to go through my belongings and take what they wanted so when I got back on the unit I had nothing to take a shower with when I told the staff that my toiletries were missing they made the girls give it back to me half empty when I expressed to the director that the girls who stole my shampoo and body wash were bullying me she denied it and told me that they weren't I lost count how many nights I cried myself to sleep because of the bullying and thought about self harm on a daily basis to relieve the stress from the other girls I do have to say some of the staff are kind and compassionate my roommate was afraid to speak up to the bullies when they started to bully her too and when I graduated the program they almost didn't give me my art stuff back but I made sure that they went out and got it from the storage unit before I left and they never gave me the vivitrol shot before I got discharged like they told me they would do my PTSD is far worse than it was from all the bullies I had to be surrounded by while being there for the 28 days I'm just glad that I don't Have to see any of those girls again who bullied me I am now 7 months clean and sober and am in sober living with my fiance in my hometown thank you to some of the staff members who were kind and understanding and compassionate and took the time to do artwork with me and just talk to me when I was having a hard time I will never forget you and to the staff who treated me like my feelings didn't matter and like i was a prisoner hope u all learn to be more understanding and compassionate towards every client especially the ones being picked on and bullied going into rehab is very hard to do and us addicts and alcoholics should have a more calm and peaceful environment to come into especially when we're coming off of drugs and alcohol

Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend this place for anyone with serious mental health and are on anxiety medication given from an outside Dr because they will take you right off cold turkey and screw you up severely to a point you have an outburst and get discharged Yea .. TRUE story !! Some staff were great Most wanted to be a person who would try and help plz tell me how. Anyways than on my way out gave me plastic bags with stiff in it mind you I came in with a coach purse , Jessica Simpson suitcase , and a pink duffle Said it wasn't there ....ALso would not give me my 2 medications cause there controlled Which does not matter not right they were wrong Had to go back the next say to grab all this The place is filled with the most rude selfish people I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Experiencia negativa: I did the 28 day program and when I was packing to leave I found out my tablet was stolen by a staff member I had it locked in a locker that only a staff member could open and of course they all denied taking it and no they did not reimburse me for losing my tablet detox beds were so hard it was like sleeping on a wood board food was pretty good they never give u any down time! It's constant groups for 16 hours a day

Experiencia fantástica: Farnum Center Helped saved my life. when i came into the program i was a very sick 19 year old heroin addict. i couldnt get more then 3 days of clean time. Experiencia fantástica: This place saved my life, i was at a point about 3 years ago where i should've died. and the judge sent me here. and honestly it worked wonders. i was clean for almost three years. but then i decided to relapse. and now im in a worse spot than i was before and im giong thru hell and hgih water to get back into Farnum, because it's the only rehab I will goto. It's the only rehab I trust to help me catch that which it was I missed for i must've missed something a long the way to relapse this hard. but I know Farnum has what it is i need to get better. Boom.

Experiencia fantástica: Hello to all…I had gone to Beach Hill rehab center years ago I mean yrs like 43 it didn’t take, I wasn’t ready to surrender…a few years later I ended up at the Farnum Center a 30 day stay…the Staff were unbelievable the place became home very quickly. This time was different the support was sincere the Councilor's were challenging I needed that they could read me like a book the gig was up….So here I am today from living on the Streets to being happily married 2 adult children .I’m retired and Xiao Ou and I are planing to travel starting this year 2023…I had read the center had extended its hours because of the amount overdoses recently ( very sad ) I didn’t realize the place was still in operation happiness came over me to know Farnum Center is helping to save lives…My name should be on the wall if it’s still there…James Leach… I’ll leave you with what our Council would say to all of us at the end of our session ( time together)..If you find you have 2 Smiles Keep One and Give the other Away, If You Find You Only Have One Keep It….. Experiencia fantástica: From detox to residential to sober living is the most best place to recover everyone here at this Manchester facility are the most amazing people everyday opened my eyes to something new noone judged you if you didn’t know much about the four steps it’s very clean and comfortable and the food amazing. The Staff go out of there way to make sure you are comfortable it’s just a wonderful place if you are serious about your recovery. It’s been 21/2 years after you do residential and want to continue your sobriety they will make sure you find a place which fits your needs.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience!!! Food is atrocious and the nurse staff is completey unprofessional and rarely mind to the schedule. It was an awful place to detox!! Spend your money elsewhere!!!

Experiencia fantástica: This place got me sober over 5 years ago I love the 3P’s i dont know if I would still be sober if I did the 12 steps because they never worked for me

Sam Kohler 3 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: I have been to detox 17 times in 4 states. The staff at Farnum Center were, without a doubt, the most compassionate, helpful, and professional that I have ever encountered. On top of that, the facility is much nicer than any that I have encountered (max 3 to a room, each bed has a tv with cable, community room with cable + dvds, good food and even dessert, etc.). On top of that, they do offer groups and meetings for those who are up for it while detoxing. They also didn’t pressure me into staying with them for their 28 day inpatient program. I was assigned a case manager and I explained to him that I had done inpatient in the past and found it ineffective without further treatment. He immediately recommended me to, and got me into a 3 month PHP/IOP program that has better suited my needs. I am beyond happy and hope I never have to return, it if I am in need of the same services, it will happen at Farnum.

I just have been in the hospital. Dehydrated and slept deprived. The food sucks especially for addicts and acholics. Makes the sicker. They gave me pills. That I picked up . Just I AM out. The don't even draw blood work. This place is Evil sc c untsevil. .stay away. Karma sent to all in involved as well Mike. Who know s know

Experiencia negativa: The biggest joke of a rehab I've ever heard of! Handing pills that arnt needed and should never been subscribed in the first place! A 28-60 day rehab turned into 16 days then they"graduated" and did really well they say. ha! That's a joke he was setting up a meet to go get pills from there "monitored phone" for when he left there later that day been 12 hrs n out junking it up ya he did great no problem graduate n leave in 16 days great job truly

Experiencia negativa: When I went to detox they were great but after that they want nothing to do with you . It's all about $ it's all about new comster they don't care about repeat people who have a problem. I have a problem and need some help and they don't help .

Experiencia negativa: If I could give this facility -5 stars I would. Your therapy model further vilifies people in their darkest moments struggling with substance misuse, there lack of urgency in care for their patients, and their complete ignorance to their staff needs and the needs of their patients astounds me, and is the complete opposite of what they claim their services can offer. I thoroughly consider this a fraudulent use of your time and money and to the mission statement you claim to have. We dropped our friend here because he was struggling with alcohol addiction, not only can they not meet basic dietary needs, but they withholded needed meds for current addiction detox treatment (standard first line meds) but they withhold treatment for such for upwards of days and weeks from their patients and I truly feel it's because they consider those struggling with drug/alcohol misuse issues with disdain as though their worth less then a grain of sand. You'd be better off going to the ER for detox and choosing and aftercare in-patient program elsewhere. They have truly showed through their blatant inaction that their they're to collect a paycheck without having to serve the needs of the community they offered to serve in the first place further diminishing whatever motivation they had to recover in the first place. In my opinion, your facility only serves to provide an empty dead space that helps to remind those in recovery the patient with substance use disorders their worst fear, that they feel their not worth the recovery they so desperately desire, and deserve! Good job being a deep seeded part of the problem!

Experiencia negativa: If your a solid working professional looking for help this is not the place. I went to this center looking for a therapeutic and non violent environment. I was severely judged by others. I had a breakdown during night hours and the staff there made it seem like it was a problem/burden that they had to call for help because they didn't know what to do (the resident staff are not required to have a bachelors or masters). Here I was crying, telling a residential counceler how I hated myself and that I had a eating disorder and I needed to calm down. when someone has a episode of anxiety this should never be taken as a complaint .... ESPECIALLY in this field. If the Farnum team wants to contact me I will happily provide information. I am a successful individual who made it..

Experiencia negativa: As we all know, a person with a drug or drinking problem frankly has an underlying problem with something else that is causing such addictions. My experience with Farnum has been a complete nightmare. I had to be quarantined because of Covid, that was held asgainst me. I had to go to the ER for a medical emergency not only for myself but for a family member too, that was held against me. The director, Bellanger - Shouldnt be in that position, he spoke in a sarcastic tone and dismissed all information brought to him. for a woman who has been tortured, abused, treated inhumanely, and isolated/held captive against her will; i thought that this place would grant me the proper health help and proper direction towards recovery, but when spoken to like I am a lowlife & treated less than... i truly hope someone of authority sees this and looks into it. I might have had harm caused to me because of the ignorant bias that is their overall attitude - set me back immensely but not only that hopefully it wont happen to another girl and she takes it to the extreme of self mutilation or suicide due to lack of human compassion & stereotypes of their unprofessionalism. I assume that there will be a reply to save face, honestly i wont check to read it, moving on from the trauma of farnum.

Experiencia fantástica: I was at Ray House for my recovery and I cannot day enough wonderful things about the people, atmosphere, and program. It is so much more than about just addiction. The program will help you change your life and relationships... all for the better. Go into it with an open mind and lean into the program. You won’t regret it!

Experiencia fantástica: The Staff was wonderful, and very helpful. It was nice to go to a place that was not a 12 step program, the 3 principles was much better for me. The food was great, and there are wonderful amenities including a pool. I enjoyed every aspect of the program. Ray house especially was great, not one complaint about stabalization/ detox in Manchester either. I hope I never have to return, but as far as rehab is concerned I wouldn't choose anywhere else

Chad Shurtleff 5 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: The staff here is second to none. The curriculum here sets you up for a new perspective on yourself, and the treatment of addiction, that can mesh perfectly with 12 step based programs.

Experiencia fantástica: The Farnum Center is a great 28-day residential program. Through my time here I've learned about the 3P's and how they function in every day life. These counselors here are awesome, the food is superb, and the facilities are very proper. They include rec activities such as basketball, football, volleyball, a salt-water, heated swimming pool, and an exercise room equipped with treadmills and free weights. I highly recommend the Farnum Center for anyone who wants a long lasting recovery, the success rate is great with the structure they provide for you during your stay. 5 and 1/2 stars!

Experiencia fantástica: During this Covid19 Pandemic I thought it would be next to impossible to find a place to go to, let alone one as great and amazing as Farnum, if one word can describe this place it is pure LOVE, it was my 1st time ever to a Detox and to Rehab, and I'm so so blessed that it was at Farnum South then North to Webster place that I went to, Thank you Farnum I can't thank you enough, a place is only as good as the people running it, !!, great place being run by great and extra ordinary people who many are in recovery themselves, just a testimony that there is hope at recovery...as Chris would say "Love" is the anwer, THANK YOU ALL!! for my second chance at life

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely loved the Ray House. Had an amazing time there. Great food staff was amazing and helpful. Unfortunately I didn't make it to my sober living in time cause of some vehicle issues so I had no choice but to go back to the same situation I left. Needless to say I'm trying to get back into the Ray House or Farnum in Manchester whichever one is the fastest.

Experiencia fantástica: Farnum is awesome and have a really great staff. If you really want sobriety this is the place to go. They teach the three principles and don’t shove a bunch of religion down your throat. Good, safe, and clean environment and Webster place in franklin is especially sweet. If you don’t really want sobriety go to Phoenix house or something, if you want to recover, come to farnum and work it. You’re worth it.

Christopher Greenwood 5 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: I owe a lot to the Farnum Center in Manchester and Webster Place in Franklin, New Hampshire. Their approach to recovery utilizing the three principles instead of traditional methods used by most rehabs changed my way of thinking and how I approach everyday life now. I can't thank them enough for their patience and empathy towards my addiction. They have a great staff and the food is fantastic, especially at Webster Place!

Experiencia negativa: Horrible place worst detox facility I’ve ever seen. They took me and stripped me off all my anxiety medication I been on for years. Without even tapering me off it slowly. Doctor was the most psychotic rude arrogant person I’ve EVER MET EVER. And I’m a very humble person. Rehab and addiction treatment centers are corrupt in this country. There is something horribly wrong with this system!

Experiencia negativa: Sought out treatment for myself was not forced or anything, this place was awful was brought in and felt like I was going to jail, I came in late at night and they just brought me into my room after everything and had me go to bed the net day NOT A SINGLE person explained anything to me or showed me around nothing at all, I ended up having to go to the hospital and they sent me alone in an Uber ride had a different Uber driver end up picking me up this person dropped me off outside farnum I had no idea where I was and was wandering around the parking lot for a good 10 minutes it was also cold out. Then, when I went to leave they wouldn't give me my phone too call for a ride until i got outside it was SO COLD out they wouldn't even let me wait inside and then after about 15 minutes they made me LEAVE the property and I had no idea where I was I know nothing about Manchester and live over an hour away. I am STILL having nightmares about this place I literally felt like a prisoner

Jenna Hernandez 6 years ago

Experiencia positiva: I tried to do the detox program here, and it seems like a really good program, except they give suboxone too early. It happened to my friend, and to me. Percipitated withdrawals...the absolute worst hell inside your body. And then there is nothing to do to try to take your mind off of it. I think if they had tablets or something so we could lay in our bed and just watch YouTube, just to get through the percipitated withdrawals at least. I couldn't stay. My friend couldn't either... I have another friend who is there right now asking me to go pick her up.

Dawn Arsenault 7 years ago

Experiencia negativa: My fiance went there about 3 yrs ago. I hope they have improved. He said people were treated as though they were a criminal. Upon arrival, they take your belongings and lock them up also make a list of ypur belongings. After 3 days there, he knew he was not going to get the help he needed so he left. When he he got in the car and opened his wallet, he saw that the money he had was gone. He confronted them and was told there wasn't any money in there. It was on the list they wrote. He was told he woul have to call the adminisraror the next day. He did and guess what? The admin said he was told there wasn't any money and there was nothing he could do.

C K 7 years ago

Experiencia negativa: Don't bother with this place. Called for help after discharge was given the regular litany of reasons why they have done everything they can to help someone when they haven't. They even blamed the patient! How nice! Was promised a phone call back, got none. Nothing. What a waste of a place. Don't actually help people. Unless you are completely fine and can fit in the old school model for help. Good luck if you have to go here and they send you out the door without the proper supports.

Experiencia fantástica: This place helped me beyond belief. I never thought I would ever get clean and sober! When I put myself into detox and residential I realized a whole new world. I met a lot of great woman in there that I still keep in touch with! Also my counselor, Kayla, was the best thing that ever came to me! She helped through all of it & helped me get clothes for myself that I needed and also gave me some of her own clothes! I appreciate Kayla & wanted to say thank you once again! Also Cheryl , thank you so very much for allowing my son to come have lunch with me and the girls & just showing me the light that I needed. A lot of the staff was so nice and caring and loving! I really loved it there & honestly didn’t want to leave! But thank you Farnum center, you guys saved me and my baby girls life & my sons! I love you all!

Experiencia negativa: I was in the middle of a question during a phone call and the person rudely hung up on me. I was confused on something so I asked a question and I guess they had something better to do with their time than to help save a life.

Lauren Cawley 8 years ago

Experiencia negativa: They only care about money. They don't truly care about helping. I was so disappointed with the level of care provided for my mother in law they basically convinced her to leave after 4 days of detox. We tried to call and communicate next steps and they completely ignored all requests. They lied to us saying insurance denied residential treatment. Come to find out after calling the insurance to ask why the insurance advised us Farnum didn't even try to get it authorized the insurance had nothing on file. It was really so disappointing to see how much stress and frustration this facility has put on someone who Is just trying to get help. I would never recommend this facility to anyone I care about.

Experiencia fantástica: coming here saved my life, the 3 principles are very easy to understand and can be adapted to everything in life.

Experiencia fantástica: The Farnum Center is a great place for recovery. One of only a few places in the country that teaches the three principles as opposed to the 12 steps and really gets you to focus on yourself and how your thoughts dictate your lifestyle. Rather than drilling into your head drugs are bad. Staff is very attentive and it really is a good experience, barely felt like rehab. Highly recommend although I won't be coming back :)

Patrick Hanlon 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: I came into Farnum Center with no prior knowledge of rehab facilities. I have tried the AA 12 steps before but this was my first time with a residential rehab program. The 3 Principles teaching is an entirely different way of looking at recovery and mental health. The unique approach teaches you to look inside for all your answers and to not dwell so heavily on the past. It was an incredible learning experience that opened my eyes to new ways to achieve and maintain sobriety.

Eric co 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: This was my first experience at a rehab and I never thought I would have ever stepped foot into one but am I glad I did. They were very welcoming from day one. They have great food. staff is very helpful and very nice. Everyone here works with you and has a genuine care for anyone who steps through the door. They made me aware of three principals I lost a long time ago of MIND, THOUGHT, and CONSCIENCE. I Feel better than I can remember and feel good going onward with my recovery. Thank you Farnum Center for everything.

Experiencia positiva: The residential program was a very positive experience which gave me new tools I am able to use in my daily life to help deal with my addiction. The three principals have opened my eyes to new concepts that I was never aware of, empowering me to make the progress I need to live a healthy, happy, sober life!

Experiencia positiva: I feel this is a very good and helpful program for recovery with a lot of great staff and great fellowship. A few things I really think need worked on is communication between the staff and possibly more training for the counselors and the R.I.'s some of them are a little unprofessional in some ways (letting certain people get away with things or treating people differently) and also I think need to be more one on one counseling sessions and maybe change up the schedule so its not so repetitive. But overall its a great program with friendly staff and I learned a lot. I will recommend it to others.

Experiencia positiva: I went through detox and the men's residential program here. Overall it was a good experience, I am very happy with all the tools I have learned to maintain my sobriety. Food is great, community is great, most of the staff is great. My only gripe would be that there is some definite inconsistencies with rules and some staff members themselves. Some are very understanding and tolerant, and others won't put up with anything. But once you look past that, this place is great.

Stephen Lombardi 8 years ago

Experiencia negativa: When my girlfriend went in she was quitting smoking and now it seems like they motivate them to smoke. Smoking and coffee should also be considered a drug an addiction !!!

Nicole Baker 9 years ago

Experiencia negativa: This place has a many flaws. I suggest that you look elsewhere when finding a facility for your loved one. They allow for their clients to have full access to their cellphone, which distracts from their sobriety and allows them to interact and focus on the negativity that they are suppose to be protected from while there. They also have poor regulations, which allows for drugs to enter their facility. They need some serious modifications and strategy adjustment for caring for addicts. It is undoubtably the clients fault for doing the drugs or allowing it to happen while in treatment, but that's why they are there is to prevent that accessibility and be safe. So disappointed in how unsafe and uncared for my loved one is while there.

Debby Granberg 9 years ago

Experiencia positiva: This my second trip to Farnum. The first was 6 years ago in the old facility. The current facility is much nicer. But the biggest improvement for me is that it is no longer just AA based. They are now teaching the 3 principles (Health Realization) and the Four Agreements. AA is still in the mix but not the sole focus.

Kimberly Plourde 9 years ago

Experiencia negativa: Counselor's aren't not the best. They argue with the patients then let them leave the program instead of trying to help solve the issue. Patients are not at their best when they check in to detox. Farnum needs to learn how to deal with all behaviors.

Experiencia negativa: Complete rip off. Medical director is a quack. Unlicensed staff. Only three staff members on duty in detox to handle up to 20 clients Not the type of one on one care that they will promise you. Look elsewhere before you choose this place

Experiencia positiva: I am a provider and hear frequently from patients how helpful they have found Farnum Center to be, both the treatment and the groups. The new center ( about a year and a half old) is improved and expanded. This is the only medically supervised opiate detox ( other than possible private pay options) for most people in New Hampshire;they also do alcohol detox. There is a 6 day detox, a 30 day rehab and an IOP and clinic- plus another site.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter was admitted there around August of 2014, she was told that her insurance would be enough. Two days after being admitted they called me demanding two thousand dollars to keep her there. I told them no that her insurance was supposed to cover it, they hung up. 15 minutes later my daughter called telling me they were going to throw her out in 45 minutes if I didn't pay and she was in the middle of detoxing. Needless to say I paid the hostage demands put to me by Mr. Almond. Five days after this she was allowed to check herself out and when I called to get her readmitted I was told that they were not going to allow her back nor were they willing to refund my $2000. When my daughter passed away of an overdose 7 months later her employer wanted to donate the money from a fundraiser to this despicable place. I got them to donate to a place that cared about the patients more than the money.

Experiencia negativa: I was at the Farnum center in 2012 and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The staff are incompetent and many are not properly educated on addiction counseling... They have horrific group sessions where you are forced to call out your mistakes in front of the whole house. It is degrading and mortifying. As addicts, we punish ourselves enough for our mistakes, we don't need to feel like we are being punished in recovery as it is a time of healing and sensitivity.

Experiencia negativa: He would of been nice to know they don't help you with payment assistance or have a sliding scale fee they want 3600 dollars for 6 days. Would of been nice to know the first time I called

Experiencia negativa: I was not a patient at Farnum Center. I was a parent of a a patient or client or whatever they wish to call them. I went to every meeting and wasn't supposed to go to the graduation because I had had some minor procedure done the day before. But I went because I wanted to take my daughter out to breakfast after. Well I was there for about 15 minutes and I learned that I couldn't take her out to breakfast becasue I couldn't even bring her to where she was to be staying after Farnum. If I had known that I would have stayed home like I was supposed to. My daughter said she didn't know it either. But she was allowed out after getting to the place she was going to. Wish I had known that. I also found that the staff there were very rude to the parents. I don't know if I was the only one who felt that way. I realize that it is for the client that they are there for, but being parents themselves mostly they should realize how we feel. Instead even though my daughter gave her permission for them to talk to me, they were brusque and I felt like a fool. It coudl have been my daughter's counselor, however. She made me feel like I was a little bug to be stepped on. I could say more, but I won't. I used to work in psych wards, a recovery ward and also other hospital wards, and I never would have treated anyone the way I was treated. Sometimes you have to put yourself in the other person's place and feel what they are feeling and not snap at them every time they ask a quesiton.
