Glenwood Care Center

Experiencia negativa: I worked at this facility in the PT dept per diem last year. At first I really liked it, but now after being at a different skilled nursing facility I think this one is kind of dirty. The rooms are small and dirty, and the residents roam around all day in their wheelchairs taking up the hallways and therapy rooms. I noticed I was the only staff member who would ever wipe down any machines or equipment with sanitation wipes after I used things. I would not send a relative or a friend here personally.

Experiencia fantástica: When I was transferred from St. John's hospital to Glenwood Care Center I wasn't in very good shape - I had been flat on my back for at least 4 days and wasn't even certain I could walk - my first night - due to being internally flooded with liquids and meds at the hospital for a really bad infection found me having to go to the bathroom at least 8 times that first night - I finally realized I could get out of bed, plop myself into a wheelchair and maneuver to the bathroom to take care of it myself - but the nurses on duty would have none of that - they needed to make sure I could safely get out of bed and move to the wheelchair and then get situated in the bathroom and then back to the bed. I decided right then and there that I was going to do everything in my power to 'get up and get out'. During my two weeks stay at Glenwood I had physical therapy 5 days a week and occupational therapy (which I thought was kind of silly, for me, but realized the need for it) and finally speech therapy which went really fast since I could always talk and that was one thing I hadn't lost during the past few weeks so a big thank you to Victor. My main evening nurse, Shanai, was absolutely wonderful - always a smile and friendly word. One day Naomi showed up and said she was there to 'do my toes' and clipped the nails and doctored the big toe - which was the origin for the dreaded infection - this care continued on for the rest of my stay at Glenwood. All the nurses - and there were many that I cannot recall the names of that were totally professional, helpful, friendly and kind. I was sort of dreading shower day but when Shanai wheeled me to the shower room and got me prepared for the shower itself it turned into a life enhancing experience - I'm embarrassed to say that I cannot remember the young lady's name who oversaw the shower room and made everyone feel comfortable AND clean - I had never in my adult life sat in a chair while being showered by a female and was at first apprehensive but once the warm water hit me I didn't want it to stop. I also want to say something about the food - I was asked by the nutritionist in my first week there what I would like for breakfast - I said one egg - one piece of toast and some cranberry juice - and that is what I got for the remainder of my stay. AND I would imagine that some folks might find fault with the food but overall, I could find no complaint - some things I didn't like and some things I did like and especially the Argentine Beef Stew - it was extremely tasty - you can Google this and make it for yourself. I guess the overall most important thing going on at Glenwood is the actual physical therapy - there were many therapists and I think I interacted with most of them during my two weeks stay but it was Eunice who really got me ready for going back home - she did tough love with a silk whip and I will be forever grateful for her help. For the past few years I have been using a cane but Eunice and Lisa - another tiger working to get us all up and out - wanted me to be able to walk on my own - even though they knew I used a cane - and they did. The main goal of all the therapists and nurses was to help us get strong enough to get back home and live an independent life - just as we had before finding ourselves at Glenwood. Overall Glenwood was the perfect transition for me from hospital to back home again - I cannot thank the entire staff enough for all their help.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom recently was discharge from Glenwood. I am very happy with the care that she received. Doctors,nurses ,therapist, all the personal was kind and ready to assist. I loved the fact that I could visit her with no restrictions within visit hours which worked well for us. She recover quickly with all the care that she recieve. I highly recommend Glenwood Care Center. You will get the assistance needed for your specific condition

Experiencia positiva: My Grandma has been here for a week and they seem to be very caring people who are happy to be there. The food looks good, the beds are nice and only two people to a room. The only thing my Grandma dislikes is there is no air conditioning or central heat. They have huge fans and space heaters that do an OK job but not the best.

Experiencia fantástica: I'm a caregiver and have seen a few care facilities, Glenwood Care Center I would recommend to anyone and everyone. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the facility is clean and doesn't smell. My sister in law was there for a month and like it a lot. All the staff was friendly and very accommodating with any questions or concerns that we had. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom was placed at glenwood care center for a short term care of 3 months approximately. She had exceptional service and care there that I don’t think is really found elsewhere. Every single person she encountered there and that I encountered there since I visited her daily, was positive and helpful. As far as we saw, everyone resident there gets great care and attention. Unless you willingly push away help because you have a bad attitude, everyone that works there is kind and helpful to everyone. The physical therapy and occupational therapy teams are like a unicorn, their care and will to do a great job, is so hard to find, I thought it was extinct. They got my mom walking again after being paralyzed from a bad infection. They did everything they knew to get my mom as independent and mobile as possible before her discharge date. They gave my mom a true chance to succeed at home. The team that bathes the residents, keep people squeaky clean, helping them feel human and healthy. All the CNA’s are so helpful and they work so hard every day. The RNA’s always stayed on top of my mom’s infusion therapy. I never worried about her treatment being interrupted or missed. I knew she was safe there. We feel so blessed to have ended up at glenwood. My mom came out of there in a much better position than she arrived. It was all thanks to the dedication and high work ethic of Glenwood.

Experiencia fantástica: I can not say enough good things about Glenwood. My father has been there 2 times and is currently there and very sick. The first time he stayed he fully recovered from a stroke. The staff was caring loving and respectful to him . This time he is very sick and can hardly eat or communicate. None the less they are treating him with dignity, respect, and doing all they can to help him. I’m so impressed by the social workers there. She is amazing and spent 45 min talking with me when it was time for to go home after a very long day. All the staff are friendly, open, and really are passionate about what they do. The place is clean and lots of activities going on. There is always someone near by checking on my dad. Still offering ice cream and fruit in the evenings even though he can’t communicate very well right now. If you want a place your family member is cared for and questions and concerns are addressed for family members this is a great place. I appreciate everyone at Glenwood so much and the excellent care they provide. I live out of town and go visit several times a week. I know when I’m not there his health, happiness and rehabilitation is first. ❤️❤️

Experiencia fantástica: My partner was staying here after back injuries and his care was amazing. Great facility. Staff was amazing and truly cared about the people and their families. Therapy services were terrific. We saw great improvement after sessions.

Experiencia negativa: Es un lugar de rehabilitación para personas de la tercera edad, Completamente lleno de pacientes y de personal, en cada cuarto están 2 personas en terribles condiciones, colchones sucios y todo el lugar es muy sucio, unos más enfermos que otros, les ofrecen comida muy mala y se las dejan ahí y a los enfermeros no les interesa que coman ó no, si se bañan o no, si necesitan usar el baño o no, pobres viejitos, se ponen tan depresivos y anciosos y el personal se lava las manos diciendo que los viejitos son malos, enojones o groceros, ahí es el último recurso para seguir viviendo o morir, ahí se están volviendo millonarios cobrando a los seguros cantidades grandísimas de dinero por todas las Victimas que caen a rehabilitarse ahí en ese centro “Glenwood Care Center “.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff was very good. They responded quickly and took care of what I needed cheerfully and with great care. My only complaint was my uncooperative roommate which wasn’t the fault of the facility. For that reason, I discharged myself after only 3 days (a weekend). I would definitely recommend the facility. It was very clean and the staff is wonderful.

Experiencia positiva: Not as bad as all these reviews state. My father in law was at this Care Center and believe me they try there best. Need to be patient they are over worked. I had a good experience with all the staff they listen and try there best. Overall I would keep bringing my father in law to this center.

Experiencia fantástica: My brother has been a resident for over a year, this facility is one of if not the best in the surrounding area, the staff is the best starting from the administrator Mr Tim Cooley, a hand on boss,not afraid to get his hands dirty, the Activities Dept, always having things for the resident to do ,The kitchen staff accommodating the residents special needs, to the CNA's the back bone this facility,Physical Therapy Dept and an honorary mention to the volunteer staff,Thank You all

Experiencia positiva: This was a good thing, the only problem I encountered was the not to good supervition to cnr on the way they treat patient, I. Found the some of them do not follow rules of how handle patient Whith compaction and we'll treatment, I am talking about 15 or 20 peer cent of all of them,the supervition of them are overprotective to the workers
