Experiencia negativa: 12/23/2024 - I don’t understand how St. Joseph’s hospital in Paterson, NJ stays in business. I brought my mom to the hospital at 3pm cause she is experiencing pain in her foot. It is now 10:29pm and she still has not yet been seen by an ER doctor. Certain patients have been here longer than us. How does this hospital stay in business; even expand? It’s a shame!

Experiencia negativa: They discriminate based on things that go against their beliefs, i'm sure there are things based on race i haven't heard about. But they will stop surgeries right before operating, and gender care because it goes against their catholic beliefs. Which goes against the NJ Law Against Discrimination(LAD)

Avery Shackleford 1 year ago

Experiencia negativa: Apparently not only is this place discriminatory and unethical, refusing to follow through on its responsibility to its patients, it's also just a bad hospital. Well done ruining more lives Catholic Church. Seems the doors should just be closed for good. Avoid at all costs.

Experiencia negativa: Phone no one helps or Connect you to the right place and be holding for hours. Awful

Experiencia negativa: This hospital is useless, they know what it’s like to go with a one-year-old girl who is congested and lacks oxygen. Last 4 hours in the emergency room. And they come to say after 4 hours waiting that there are no nurses, no rooms or staff. If something had happened to my daughter. I hold them accountable. Very negligent.

Experiencia fantástica: Hello just had a colonoscopy today and when it came time tor my anesthesia there was this nurse that made me feel so comfortable and he was so nice. His name was Joe simmons. He was great. Thank you.

Experiencia negativa: Every time I go there the homeless and drug addicts are all over sleeping. They begging people for money, I was 3 patients walked out because of how disgusting it is in there. My daughter took my grandson and the same situation, all the homeless and drug addicts and it smells like a pissy alley. They need to do something about that.

Experiencia negativa: My mother was wronged and denied care after years of continuous care in this facility. My mother has her own business and because of that she is unable to qualify for insurance due to “generating alot of money” which is false. Because my mother didn't have insurance, when she went for her mammography, she routinely needs a ultrasound after as she has family hx of breast ca from her sister and 2 aunts, she was told the u/s technologist was “TO BUSY” for her…. After being shocked and spoke to Carmen who ended up helping her because THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE BUSY FOR PATIENT CARE she was able to get the u/s done. Following, she received notice that she has abnormal results and that the results were taken to where they need…. Without explanation of where they went or what should be the next steps… My mother knows the protocols as I, her daughter, am in the medical field and i was extremely upset to hear this as i personally go out of my way for any patient i encounter Just because my mother doesn't have insurance for a valid reason that it is impossible to pay 800$ a month, does not make it right to deny her of health care

Experiencia negativa: I rather die before I go to this hospital again I was there at 3pm until 10 pm and still never seen the doctor they should shut this place down so many staff that wasn’t work just looking at you

Experiencia negativa: If I could give no stars I would period this is the worst hospital i've ever been to in my life. This is a second time.I've been there the first time.I went to hacken fact after three hours of waiting And throwing up and they're waiting room. This time I was admitted for the same issue And after being there for 2 days was discharged And my chief complaint was a bowl obstruction n nausea. They refused to give me anything for nausea And seeing as though that was one of my chief complaints I called them to see if they can fix it and they told me no. The nurses were very, very nice. On the sixth floor. The nurses in the emergency room were useless I sat In a bed for twenty four hours And my own blood because my I.V came out not once but twice. Then I also vomited on myself And that in that for twenty four hours. On the way To the hospital Which is only. A thirty second drive because I live right here The ambulance hit about three curbs. The unprofession That this hospital shows It's unimaginable. I. Thought maybe the first time I had the wrong impression But going my second time and having a even worse experience I know it just wasn't a fluke , this is By far the worst hospital I have ever encountered.

Experiencia negativa: What’s wrong with the security guy at the entrance? Very rude ! Answers any question like you are stupid ! I saw him treat a visiting doctor very disrespectfully ! If that’s the face of the hospital, what lies beyond ??

Experiencia negativa: Awful care and disorganized experience for a pedestrian MVA. I was transported via ambulance to the closest trauma center after being hit as a pedestrian, and unfortunately, the experience in this ER was one of the worst I’ve ever encountered. Given the nature of my injuries—multiple displaced fractures, potential spinal injury, contusions, abrasions, and intense pain—I expected a level of professionalism and urgency that was sorely lacking. From the start, the triage process was disorganized and poorly managed. Despite my severe injuries, I waited five hours in a hallway before being properly evaluated by trauma staff. X-rays and CT scans took hours to complete, leaving me in unnecessary pain and discomfort for far too long. Requests for pain management were repeatedly ignored, and when a solution was discussed, it was so poorly thought out that no relief was provided. How a trauma center can fail so completely at addressing pain management is beyond me. After six hours, I was finally given a cervical collar—far too late for a pedestrian motor vehicle accident with suspected spinal involvement. The physicians who treated me, though undoubtedly still in training (residents/interns), did little to inspire confidence in their actions. It felt like they were perfecting their training on me rather than providing the competent care I desperately needed. While the attending physician displayed more competence and compassion, the lack of oversight and clear leadership made the entire process feel chaotic. Someone needs to take control of this “circus.” Another disturbing detail: no one in the ER took my blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, or even conducted basic neurological checks. They simply relied on the initial readings taken by the EMTs, who were excellent, but this is unacceptable for an ER, especially one dealing with trauma patients. Ironically, the most efficient and responsive staff were those from the billing and admissions department. They wasted no time addressing paperwork, even as I waited hours in a hallway for medical care. The only bright spot in this experience was the triage nurse, who worked diligently to move minor cases (like coughs and colds) through the system efficiently. Unfortunately, this efficiency didn’t extend to patients with serious trauma. Overall, this ER demonstrated an alarming lack of professionalism, urgency, and compassion. The poor management and disorganization left me questioning the quality of care provided at this facility. If you have a choice, avoid this ER at all costs. One star is generous.

Experiencia positiva: It's a good hospital as far as being treated and there is a lot of staff which is nice but I have seen staff be rude to others, it takes way too long to be seen and tends to attract a lot of lowlifes. I wish that while you are waiting so long that the staff could at least offer food and water for people. The security is fed up and so is the staff and the patients. The area outside the hospital is slummy so you have an idea of what to expect when you enter as far as I am concerned. I feel like the medical treatment you receive though can actually be better than that of new bridge medical center for instance and that is in Paramus NJ.

Experiencia negativa: My experience at St. Joseph Hospital, Bethpage, was truly disappointing. My father was admitted for severe bleeding and pain while urinating. Despite his critical condition, it took hours for a doctor to arrive, and the nurses struggled with basic procedures like inserting a catheter. After multiple failed attempts by nurses, a doctor finally arrived at 2 AM, inserted the catheter without anesthesia, leaving my father in agonizing pain. I am grateful at least Doctor was able to handle the situation. Unfortunately, the issues didn't end there. The next day, a PA and associating nurse improperly irrigated the catheter, causing the balloon to burst inside his bladder. Instead of addressing this, the PA brushed it off. The doctor was understandably upset but PA offered no apology, and my father had to endure the entire painful process again. Following this, my father was sent home with the catheter, only to be rushed back nine days later due to severe bleeding. Once readmitted, it took hours before he was seen by a doctor. During this stay, he was given morphine, which triggered a horrible reaction—dizziness, nausea, and restlessness that the staff largely ignored this. His calls for help at night went unanswered for hours, and when a nurse finally arrived, she barely cleaned him up, leaving him itchy and uncomfortable. When his blood pressure dropped dangerously, only my mother’s presence saved him, as the nurses neglected to monitor his vitals properly. They even denied my mother permission to stay overnight to advocate for him, with head nurse Gloria going as far as calling security to escort her out. The lack of compassion, professionalism, and basic competency was shocking. I hope this review serves as a warning and encourages the hospital to address these serious deficiencies.

Experiencia negativa: If I could post a review without a star it would be minuses.. My Mom came in the emergency room at 11:30 am with severe chronic pain in her groin and hip and was unable to walk. She has a heart condition and a pacemaker at 81 yrs old They shuffled my Mom around like a hockey puck and the ER was seening less serious people way before her, waiting until 6:45 to finally be seen. 1 xray and CT scan to find out She needed hip replacement, we were released at 2am. Just stay away from this horrible hospital, it's a nightmare. They let my Mom lay in piss for over an hour and I had to get upset a number of times to get any action to be taken. The nursing staff is disconnected desensitized and rude, no sense of urgency. Really a disgraceful place that should be over hauled!

Experiencia negativa: November 10 I went in the morning to get checked out for a problem with my abdomen that’s been bothering me . I came here because I was suggested to come here from the urgent care doctor so when I came I thought they were going to take good care of me . But as soon as I get checked into my room I get introduced to a lady named “Jennifer White “ she didn’t really seem like she wanted to hear me when I mentioned that I the urgent care doctor said I might need a mri or a x ray done to get checked out and rule off anything serious but the lady immediately told me that I was speaking nonsense and kept cutting me off when I was trying to explain my situation to her . She seemed very sassy with me from the start calling me “honey” and made an unnecessary comment saying that the hospital isn’t a Burger King where people just come in a get what they want . It was completely uncalled for cause I was already in pain and I suffer from anxiety so that comment just made things worse because from that point on I didn’t really trust her with my health and taking it serious , I honestly felt just like a number to her that wanted me in a out . Didn’t really take a thorough assessment with me and just wanted me to take ibuprofen and head off out .

Experiencia negativa: I experienced a very traumatic post op experience with the most incompetent post op nurse, Erica. She is stand-offish, argumentative, unprofessional, and you can tell that she hates her job. Remember, I'm fresh out of major surgery. From OR to post-op, coming to from general anesthesia....would you believe she's arguing with me about a medical concern. Erica was annoyed with me as we argued about a medical mishap that occurred. I received a rushed discharge despite asking for a supervisor. Stay away from St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson, NJ. Request that surgery be performed at Valley or Hackensack Meridian where they have a more professional and COMPETENT staff.

Experiencia negativa: Asked to speak with the doctor treating my wife, to get a clear answer, got no where. Went to patient relations to get the name and number of the person who runs the hospital, refused to give me the information. Experiencia fantástica: Labor and delivery was hands down a beautiful experience. I’m so glad I ended up following my OBGYN and not giving birth anywhere else. I came in on a Sunday to be induced and it’s my first baby so I had no idea what was next. Every single nurse was amazing, sweet, understanding, helpful. Not once did I feel uncomfortable or neglected. The room in which you give birth definitely needs an upgrade. It was dreary, bleak and sad. The bed was so uncomfortable and hard. My OBGYN was Dr.Day. He’s absolutely the best, he is an 5 star doctor. Always professional and to the point. He and his team made my experience worth it. My baby, husband and I were well taken care of. The next room to rest in was much more comfortable. The hospital food was okay, it’s hospital food . Thank you everyone for helping me deliver a healthy baby !

Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday 9/11, I was in your dental area. I had to have 3 broken teeth removed. Well not only was I scared and nearly passed out when I seen the needle. I MUST SAY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say Thank YOU for me to Dr. Noopoor, Max and Maygan. Wow!!!!!! Just wow wow and wow for helping me get through that ordeal. As you are aware pulling teeth isn't an easy job for the dentist nor the patient. Your team has to deal with the cry babies like myself who are scared of dentists. The support, and Max holding my hand and talked me through the entire process makes me forever GRATEFUL! They were so nice and patient with me. Dr Noopoor pulled my teeth so fast and talked to me through the entire process that I laughed and cried all at the same time. What a mess I am lol!! Whoever trained those 3 including Luisa the receptionist deserves a raise a bonus or something! It is beyond RARE to find a staff that goes above and beyond to ensure the patients are in good hands. I would like to send a fruit basket to the team,.pls let me know if this something i can do. They need to be thanked! Angie, your professionalism yesterday should be noticed as well. I cant thank you enough as well. Pls forward my email to whomever you can. Your management needs to know you all are APPRECIATED!! ONE OF YOUR PATIENTS WHO CARES!!

Now the emergency room did have alot of patients; so given the history with ER’s I knew I was going to be there for a while. but the nurses were nice and personable. I had no issues. My NP ( Dr.Riss) was amazing. She wasn’t rude and calmed me through my pain and got right to it. I’m just glad I had a good experience. The emergency room can be a hit or miss unfortunately.

We Were Immediately Seen By The Admissions Department. Due To Her Situation, She Was Given Priority. While Waiting For The Doctor, We She Was Immediately Seen By The Staff And Given Her Nessesary Treatments. One Nurse In Particular Went Above And Beyond To Accommodate My Girlfriend. She Made Sure That, We Both Were Being Treated And, Attended To Her Needs. Nurse Maria Rivera, Was Very Professional In Making Sure That My Girlfriend Was Comfortable. She Was Also Very Caring And Very Attentive To Her Assigned Patients. She Definitely Gets Two Up.

Experiencia negativa: I could give 0 stars instead of 1 it will be given. Emergency department is horrendous!!! It DEFINITELY has been my first and last time I go to ED at this hospital. Waited 4 hours to be put into a room. You could be agonizing in pain and the staff could care less. On top of that, you have homeless people just walk in, have a seat and go to sleep in the waiting room. The Emergency Department needs better care and quality!!!!!

Experiencia negativa: STEER CLEAR OF THIS ER. I'll start by saying the security staff was nice. The nurses who checked his vitals after an hour were nice and comforting. Brought my 7 month old son here for a possible head injury on suggestion of the paramedic as having a great peds program. After waiting 2.5 hours, finally got called for registration. From there, no clear idea was given as to how much longer before he'd be seen. After 4 total hours of waiting, finally got called for a room. Once we got a room, we waited another hour before we up and left, as no nurse had even come to check on him or even so much as acknowledged us. We let the front desk at peds know we were leaving, a nurse said she was going to check on us but never did. My wife let them know their way of operating was unacceptable and there was no remorse or even effort to salvage our visit. This is how they will treat your child as a patient of a possible head injury, with no care or consideration. Take your child elsewhere if you want quality medical care. We get that there's probably understaffing and very busy, but it's not worth the expense of you or your loved one's health, especially your precious children. Everything is out of order, and the left hand is not talking to the right. If I could give less stars, I would.

Experiencia negativa: My recent visit to Saint Joseph Hospital day of visit 3/19/24 between 1pm to 5pm, left me deeply dissatisfied with the level of service and care provided. I was sent home with antibiotics without any blood tests or comprehensive examination. Additionally, the estimated timeline for recovery was vague, offering little reassurance or guidance. I was simply advised to return if my condition worsened, without any clear direction on what to expect or how to manage my symptoms in the meantime. Overall, my experience at Saint Joseph Hospital was disappointing and failed to meet the expected standards of care. I hope that improvements can be made to ensure that patients receive the comprehensive and attentive treatment they deserve in the future.

Experiencia negativa: I had the flu. I went to the emergency room of this hospital for the first time, hoping that they would give me a serum or medicine for my fever. I waited exactly 3 and a half hours for them to do the Covid test. I waited another 45 minutes and they read my name. I was called into the examination room. I was kept waiting here for another half hour. A doctor named Dr.maria Carvalho Olarte came. SHe looked at my throat with her mobile phone flashlight. She said that the flu would go away with rest. After 15 minutes, she gave me a prescription for a painkiller and sent me out. I experienced this in this fraudulent hospital on 12.25.23. Today, February 12, 2024, I received a letter in the mailbox from St. Joseph's Hospital. I received an invoice saying $ 2200 for physical therapy, emergency room, laboratory expenses. I have never encountered such a fraud case in my life. I caught and sent many scammers to the FTC. But you are a huge fraudulent institution that has no belief in God. I will sue you. Experiencia negativa: HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience!!! We took our 3 year old son for a laceration above his eye. We were told by our pediatrician that our son would need stitches so to take him to St. Joseph for their pediatric unit. They called us 9 HOURS LATER to be seen by a doctor. Waited another hour for numbing cream. By the time the plastic surgeon came to see my son, the wound had clotted and almost closed and no stitches were needed at that time. 9 HOURS for a 3 year old child. I kept asking the front desk the waiting time, nobody knew. You want my advise, take your child elsewhere.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had my baby couple months ago. I was not concerned if to have my baby in Hackensack hospital or St Joseph hospital. As soon my water broke @ 38 weeks. I right away when for St Joseph Hospital. It was the best decision ever! As soon I arrive they made sure I was okay and they took care for me every second. The nurses were very nice, kind, and helpful every moment. Even if my contractions were strong and I beg for c section. I'm glad they did not listen too me. My baby was born strong and healthy! No needed for nicu. I honestly I'm so thankful with st Joseph hospital.

Experiencia negativa: I have been in the emergency department with my son at 7:00 pm , they checked in at 7:05 pm and we have been waiting for a couple of hours. Now 10:00 pm and I asked the front desk agent that , how long I have to wait? She says I don’t know. My son is crying because of his pain and he is hungry as well. I don’t understand how this department called emergency! This is a horrible situation! and it’s should have to be handled by a good administration immediately. I would like to ask to the city of Paterson to pay attention please!please!! Please!!!

Experiencia positiva: The Dr.s and staff are really nice I gave 4stars only cause I get it the homeless need someplace warm but when they register just to stay in the ER then it's takes longer for the people who really need help I was there last night and you had one homeless person pooping on the floor you have kids in the waiting room nobody wants to see that you need to clean up your waiting room or make another part of the hospital for the homeless I have nothing against them trying to stay warm but none wants to smell poop

Experiencia negativa: It sickens me that I have to even put a star, my dear 76-year old mother was EUTHANIZED by this hospital Sep, 6, 2019. This hospital does NOT care for the elderly, in fact anyone who is elderly and infirm will be put in DANGER if they are brought to this hospital, St. Joseph's cares nothing for the older population and it is not advisable to bring ANYONE to this hospital regardless of their age, but that population fares far worse. Suffice to say I don't think you can find one human being in this hospital. The people who work here are monsters and if you say anything the security guards and the "police" will violently bully you and intimidate you. I do not know how a place like this is still allowed to operate. If you see all of the previous reviews it is not hard to see that this place fails in every way to be a place of healing and does not meet ANY standard of care. I was not even aware my mother was being taken to St. Joseph's and I did not know the nightmare that would await me there. The hospital kept me from my mother and did not seem to know that she was a dialysis patient, when I notified them of that they removed me from the hospital and banned her from having any and all visitors so I had to call for updates. St. Joseph's LIED to me and I did not know that my mother was not being fed FOR WEEKS! The doctor was also giving my mother abnormally high doses of fentanyl without my knowledge or consent. When I finally saw her, I can find no other words to describe her than a living corpse, she had not been fed in THREE weeks, her neck was bloody and she was gasping for air. I was kept from my mother's bedside and I could not even be there when she passed away. I could not be by mother's bedside, they were not being truthful about her condition and they robbed me of my mother and the remaining time I had with her. Absolute demons! Hospital of Horrors! Shut this place down!

Experiencia negativa: Worst. Definitely go to Hackensack if you’re bringing a kid. Full of bums and drug addicts. Was there all night. They over charge and break up your bill among multiple mysterious companies (who won’t answer the phone). Plus they are charging me for payment my insurance tells me they’re not allowed to charge me for. Example of how healthcare is failing Americans. Please save yourself a hassle and criminal-level bill.

Experiencia negativa: Worst hospital ever! Do NOT go here. The nursing supervisor, Najah was notified about a complaint and failed to address the issue and instead transferred me to Maintenance. She failed to escalate a serious concern about a medication that could potentially harm a patient. In all my years working in the medical field, I’ve never dealt with such incompetence. I will file a complaint. She should not be working in that position.

Experiencia negativa: The ER is insane! People sick, they call you to ask you questions, then to check your blood pressure and after that the wait there is like forever waiting for a doctor to see you. I would never recommend anyone to go to the ER. They’re very disorganized and unprofessional. My mom went with a bad headache and she had to wait outside for more than 4 hours. Very disappointed at his hospital l! Every visit gets worse!

Experiencia negativa: The emergency dept is a waste the nurses here not all but most dont know the basics to patient care. There needs to be something done here. They are literally incompetent and dont do their jobs and dont care.

Experiencia negativa: I had surgery on Wednesday December 13th all was going well until I was recovery there were at 3 nurses there ignoring my question about whether. My family had been notified of my condition. .my blood pressure was elevated and I was really upset. They not addressing my questions only sat there in front of me with no response after about 2 hours I insisted that they give me my personal items so I could make the call. Myself eventually was taken to room 605 they kept me waiting and I found out that there were on 4 patients on the entire floor. I asked to see the nurses I'd she did not comply. Said her name was Maria Alfonso . And left. I just want to say they were not nice and and unprofessional.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been a patient at this hospital throughout my life. I now work here and it’s honestly so sad to see these reviews and actually see for myself how long it takes to get proper care at the emergency room and the unprofessionalism of the staff who work here from the registrar staff to the doctors. My relative was brought in and as soon we walked in, the front staff are making remarks about having to do more work “great just what I need” is what one of the staff said. The registrar employee with short blonde hair, is very unprofessional and rude. When we are brought in, it took so long for a doctor to come, the nurse has said she would bring medication for the fever and she didn’t until 30 mins+ and she was at her desk making conversation with her coworkers. Dr.Cho who was the ER doctor, Asian male with glasses comes in, didn’t introduce himself, immediately comes in and makes a remark about me sitting down instead of my mother, I sustained and injury so I was sitting down. His bedside manner is horrible, inside of giving a proper diagnosis he gave probabilities. My sister who was the patient later tries to tell the doctor more important information and he shushes her because he was speaking with my mother then he asks her what she was going to say and my sisters explains her other symptoms and he said she should’ve told her that before not after. How are you going to say that to the patient, you’re the doctor in charge, you’re the one making the assessment, so ask the proper questions to receive the proper information. He then tells my mother if she feels worse bring her back. Why don’t you do the proper tests such as a CT scan or mri to rule out any of your “probabilities”. Hopefully with the new CEO he can gradually make the proper changes.

Experiencia negativa: Took my friend with massive pain post-gallbladder surgery. No hurry at all - and just a single nurse for triage, who was gone for about 30 mins. After waiting 40 minutes for anyone to even triage him, we went to another hospital where he was seen and examined in 5 minutes. Everyone was more concerned with kicking out the homeless people from the waiting room than actually seeing who needs help mostn

Experiencia negativa: While on vacation, my husband and I ended up needing emergency care. This is simply a homeless shelter masquerading as an ER. I heard some people waiting 3-4 hours and still weren’t called when we decided to visit a different ER. I feel for the full room of pediatric patients who were waiting to take the place of adults looking for a medication fix and warm bed. Severity of symptoms should always take precedent over who simply decided to wait 4 hours inside out of the cold.

Experiencia negativa: Worst hospital ever!!!! I went to the emergency, I registered and I couldn't stand the pain and I left because I waited 3 hours and then I get a bill! they want me to pay without having been treated.... crazy!!!!

Experiencia negativa: Dr. Salerno has been my mother's doctor for over 10 years. She has been experiencing chronic pain for over 6 months and the doctor does nothing but prescribe pain meds. I'm assuming he gets away with this since his patients are elderly. His "call center" staff explicitly informed me that the only service they can provide is further pain management without a real diagnosis. Shameful.

Experiencia negativa: I work here but im very disappointed with the care i received from the doctor in the ED. I came in for chest pain and high BP. Ekg cxr and labs were done which came out normal but MD did not manage my hypertension W/c was in the 170s at that time. He said “I don’t take care of your BP you have to go to your doctor. “ I left the ED with a Bp of 174/118, headache and a heavy heart. My nurse Jesse was ok I know she was doing her Best But she got a lot to do. But this ED Doctor needs more compassion and education on how to take care of his patients.

Experiencia negativa: The ER is so dirty and so disorganized. People wait for 3 hours or more and they call it a pediatric emergency care. They don’t care about making a 16 month old wait for 4 hours when he has difficulty breathing. We came here because it’s an emergency. How pathetic it is to have dirty waiting rooms and understaffed emergency room. This management should shut down medical center and run some damn business.

Experiencia positiva: The only reason why I am rating St. Joseph Hospital 4 stars is literally because of their NURSES!!! My daughter was in the hospital for three days…from the ER (Nurse Maria) to Peds ICU (Nurse Michelle) & Peds (Nurse Maria & Nadia) NURSES were absolutely amazing!! They Listen, They were attentive, They were CARING! THANK YOU!!! Otherwise, I would rate this hospital 1 star…everyone else needs proper bedside manners, I do understand they are located in Paterson, NJ and encounter ALL different personalities, however, they need to learn not everyone is the SAME! && this hospital is just GROSS, it screams COVID Germs .

Experiencia negativa: I used to speak so highly of this hospital a very long time ago but now they are not at all even meeting the basic needs of their patients. I received terrible care during my L&D experience from the attending doctor, Dr. Barber. After a horrendous event they rushed me out- I was discharged even though I had multiple, valid complaints, which I ended up being hospitalized for again. I ended up in a different hospital for about a week with the same complaints that they were not caring enough to look into. I contacted patient relations who were “investigating” the issues I brought up to them and there was no actual resolution, so in my opinion they were no help! The only good thing this hospital has going on are their nurses- most of them were caring and compassionate. The doctors and the residents (specially the year 1 residents that I encountered) need to have more training on ethics and caring for their patients. They are dealing with peoples lives who have loved ones.

Experiencia negativa: Do not get heart surgery at this facility. A loved one had open heart surgery at Saint Joseph’s hospital and the patient is worse than when they came in. The person now has a whole array of new health issues related to the heart procedure. The place is trash and the cardiologists there are awful too. Look elsewhere. St. Joseph’s hospital is the worst hospital in New Jersey.

Experiencia fantástica: BEST HOSPITAL STAY EVER I don’t know why anybody would have any complaints about this place. The facility is practically brand-spanking new, it’s immaculate, and it’s state-of-the-art. But what’s especially great about this hospital is the staff. Because of some stunt my insurance company, Braven, tried to pull on me (and didn’t get away with), I wound up staying here far longer than I should have—8/24/23-9/11/23 (2 ½ weeks). Consequently, I easily came in contact with at least 120 members of the St. Joe’s staff--specifically, the 4th and 6th floor ortho wards and the ICU. With the exception of maybe three people who were definitely in need of some attitude adjustment, I found every employee—residents, transport people, doctors, housekeepers, social workers, nurses, PCA’s, therapists, technicians, dieticians, and whomever else I may have unintentionally left out to be beyond helpful. Every request I made (and there were a lot, since I was pretty much helpless after my spine surgery) was met with a cheery, “No problem!” It would be hard to say anyone was particularly outstanding because everyone was. Based on my experience in Paterson, I chose to do my rehab at their branch in Wayne. My one complaint is the bedding. The mattresses were completely inadequate for an ortho ward, and the blankets were thin and scratchy—they refused to stay on and literally gave me a rash…Other than that, no negative feedback whatsoever.

Experiencia negativa: I wouldn't change the Hackensack Hospital for anything in the world, I will be there because i was in my mom house (Paterson) I feel really bad, with chest pain, nausea, left eye blurred vision, headache and they leave you sitting in the ambulance no stretcher also, The paramedics are kind but they come to the house and instead of taking your blood pressure they start talking nonsense, I had to tell them to take my blood pressure, than they make you walk around the hospital, I had to ask for a chair, They leave you waiting for hours, it is the worst hospital that can exist. If you want good treatment, and save your health, DO NOT VISIT THIS HOSPITAL!

Experiencia negativa: I called the neurology department and was immediately met with an extremely rude response and was told by the person on the phone to call back in an hour because she couldn't deal with me right now due to me not knowing exactly what type of appointment I had off the top of my mind. Go somewhere else where they wont tell you to call back when they clock out and hang up on you. I called around 12:10 at Tuesday, Sep 12

Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to take this opportunity and acknowledge Kristie Spindler and Tania Velez-Ayala who provided me with GYN services at their Woodland Park location. I was in the office last week and I was very impressed with my service. Ms. Spindler has excellent bedside skills and she is very professional. She is prompted with her scheduled appointments which I really appreciate. She comes prepared, such as she reviews the medical history prior and she is knowledgeable as she answers all of my . I feel very comfortable in her presence and respected when sharing personal information with her. In regards to Ms. Ayala, this was my first time meeting her. She was very polite and kind when she greeted me. She engaged me with an appropriate discussion as she took my vital signs. She had a great sense of humor and she was very pleasant to speak with. I enjoyed our time together and I hope that I will get to see her again at the office. Thank you for caring about the people and the community. I was extremely impressed with my service and felt it was necessary to extend a Kudos for a fantastic job. Thank you Kristen Spindler and Tania Velez-Ayala once again for a job well done.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a dental emergency and this was the best Dental experience I have had ! I went first to the Dental Clinic at 11 Getty, then to the Oral Surgery Dept in the main Facility. Dr. Kevin Albite, Senovia Fornes, Dr. Ramiz Mogannam, and Dr. Farinaz Sepahifar were phenomenal! They exhibited superb knowledge, and a very high level of patient care during a very difficult time. I have worked with clinicians many years, and I highly recommend this Facility to everyone - including the Security Officer Mr. Jimmy. All together they helped to create a safe and trusting atmosphere for wellness. Thank you all for your care and services. God bless you!

Experiencia negativa: Spent about FOUR unnecessary hours here. 2 waiting just to be seen and another 2 cause they can’t “expedite paperwork”. Mind you, they put me and another patient in the SAME ROOM, he was seen last and still received his paperwork before me. Then was explained I’d have medication for the issue they were suppose to resolve when I came in, nothing was ever sent to the pharmacy nor noted on the discharge forms. Literally what I was given I could have picked up at Walgreens. I’m better off YouTubing how to fix my damn self before ever coming to this POS of a hospital again. I’ll be reporting to the board for false information & having me sign a discharge paper when you tell me one thing and DONT EVEN SATISFY YOUR PATIENTS NEEDS!

Experiencia fantástica: From the moment I arrived at this hospital I found that every staff member was extremely helpful. My relative was getting a cardiac procedure done, and I knew the wait would be all day. Anytime my husband and I walked around the hospital and looked somewhat confused someone reached out and offered help.

Experiencia negativa: The wait to get seen was 3 and a half hours. My brother was burning up and had a fever and needed medical attention. The nurses kept us in the dark about the status of his condition. They didn’t tell us what exactly was wrong with him and only gave him medicine to take. The nurse that came in to take his temperature did it wrong and claimed he didn’t have a fever. The doctor then came in and said it was wrong and that my brother did have a fever.

Experiencia fantástica: 5 stars goes out to the Geriatric team and the social workers Vince and Anna for getting mom well and OUT of the hospital I was going to give a 0 star for the cleanliness of the ER observation area but didn’t want to penalize the great team work of others. MANAGEMENT PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE SAME GARBAGE ON THE FLOOR DAY IN AND DAY OUT FOR ALMOST 5 DAYS. Disgusting and no excuse.

Experiencia negativa: This Hospital does it again. The times I've been there, it's always been the same with the long waits. Once you're registered, they forget about you. Several people last night, including me, had to leave without getting help because they had already waited more than 3 hours and it was almost dawn. There's nothing good about Paterson's system. I wouldn't recommend it.
