She understands that just because my knee inflammation brought me to her, there are other parts of my body that are affected by this problem and she is addressing those areas, as well. Experiencia fantástica: I've been in so many courses of physical therapy in my life that I've lost count. Laura is supremely knowledgeable in so many PT-related modalities that more traditional practitioners do not know/practice, which has allowed her to get to the core of my issues--which hadn't been resolved elsewhere. We've been working together over the past couple months, and even after just one session, I was able to find relief with my 1.5-year old stubborn shoulder injury and be in child's pose with no pain. It felt nothing short of miraculous after three separate courses of shoulder PT. On top of her vast knowledge base, she's attentive to details as well as the big picture...and CARES. Even though she doesn't take insurance and I pay out of pocket, every penny is well spent during our one on one sessions. As someone with hEDS, I am so grateful to have Laura on my care team!!

Experiencia fantástica: Laura (Inspire Physical Therapy) was referred to me by a PM&R from VCU. I have had a number of surgeries due to sport's related injuries and as I have aged, have become a chronic pain patient, mostly involving my back. My experience with other physical therapy groups in central Virginia have been mixed, offering some but not satisfactory results. My first session with Laura started with an in-depth evaluation, assessing range of motion, flexibility, posture, as well as other parameters. We also discussed activities of daily living (ADL's) and how my pain impacted them. During that session she showed me a relatively simple, but amazingly affective stretch that improved my lower back immensely! As happy as I was to learn this stretch, I was also frustrated in that through all the years of searching for what was wrong with my back, and how to help ameliorate the pain, other physicians and physical therapists pretty much dropped the ball. Since my initial visit, Laura has shown me numerous stretches and therapeutic modalities to help me with managing my pain, and this is very important to me, WITHOUT medication! Laura is also a pleasure to work with, extraordinarily knowledgeable, and in speaking for myself, sincere in caring for her patient. I highly recommend Laura and Inspire Physical Therapy!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been to many PTs over the years and received a lot of cookie cutter approaches, i.e. heat, electric stem, and very little hands on therapy. Laura brought something new. She is very knowledgeable and very hands on. I have never had a PT work as hard as she does on my issues. Very positive and encouraging. Provides multiple approaches that others have not tried and after a few sessions I am getting results. Highly recommend her services. Hoping she doesn't get too popular where I can't get an appointment. :-)

After the first session, I noticed a difference! I worked with Laura for about 8 weeks and by the end, I was feeling very much like my old self. Symptoms that I hadn't even realized were connected to my neck issues had disappeared! Even more amazing, I was recently invited on a last minute trip with a friend to hike in Utah. Thanks to Laura, I had enough confidence in my balance, strength, and endurance to go. I hiked up and down canyons, scrabbled across slip rock, waded through rocky streams, and navigated narrow canyon ledges while carrying a backpack. Neither my neck nor my knee bothered me at all during the trip. I've been to PT twice for my back, once for nearly 6 full months. After my issues returned again and again, I decided to give Laura's approach a try. She has added immense value and new insights since Day 1. With Laura, you get her full attention the entire time, even in-between visits. She's intuitive, holistic about incorporating all aspects of your life, and endlessly wise and curious about the body. As a former dancer and aspiring runner/triathlete, I would encourage anyone who values fitness and mobility to try Laura instead of standard/overly-clinical PT. I've been so impressed with her knowledge and variety of techniques and treatments to get to the root of the problem. One can often find a surgical solution or pain management, but if you can solve the underlying problem causing the pain you are so much better off. I'm happy to endorse her skills and approach.

Dr Welch listened to me and used her excellent and perceptive skill to figure out what was going on with me. A session hasn't gone by with out true progress and homework to continue. Truly excellent practice. Should be a line out the front door. (every 6 feet of course!)

Experiencia fantástica: I saw Laura initially for a calf injury and then later for a sore shoulder. She put me at ease right away and made my appointments not only therapeutic but also enjoyable and fun. She honed in on the source of my difficulties, worked on my body mechanics and explained everything she was doing so that I could understand. She identified and outright fixed an issue with my sacrum/coccyx that I had assumed was unfixable and so had not even mentioned at first. She gave me appropriate exercises to do at home, even filming them on my phone so that I would have a quick reference point to make sure I was doing them properly. Most important for my mental health, she got me back running pain free and stronger than ever. I would not hesitate to recommend her practice.

Laura was able to help me in ways that no one had been able to before. She took the time to listen, and if you’ve ever experienced chronic pain then you probably know how rare it is to find someone who truly, fully hears you. She helped me set goals when I felt frustrated about my physical limitations, and she helped me manage the emotional rollercoaster of chronic pain by empowering me with knowledge and body-awareness. I was so impressed with Laura’s ability to take a big picture view - she took in the perspectives of all the different doctors I’ve seen - in order to make sure her advice fit with the other parts of my health plan. She’s of course also an expert at hands on work. I always left sessions with her feeling so much better than I went in, plus she provides easy to do at home exercises. Experiencia fantástica: Laura is a unique physical therapist. Her analysis will provide you with real, actionable information. I went in for discomfort in my knees and she found misalignments in my ribs that were contributing to instability in my hips and therefore misfiring through glutes and over activation of my quads, leading to the discomfort in my knees. We went through multiple mobility tests, manual work and back to mobility tests and exercises that I need to practice on my own. What I appreciate most about Laura is that she educates you. She teaches you how to recognize what's happening in your body and how to build new, correct patterns of movement. I'm so thankful for her!
