Experiencia negativa: If you’re coming here to see Mary Caldwell, I’d highly suggest you just go elsewhere. In 2:30 appointment, she walked into the room at 2:49. I timed it due to VCU having some providers (not all) that simply do the bare minimum because VCU allows and encourages this type of negligence. I was in my car and out of the parking lot by 2:58. Most of it was her telling me there’s nothing that can be done. She made me walk in a cramped room, did insufficient testing, and put me in PT with no idea of what was actually going on. No testing to be safe. I then messaged her to inquire about if it was safe to do PT without knowing the underlying cause. I directly quoted her as I have always had phenomenal recall. I do not say this lightly nor would I accuse someone of this without cause. She gaslit me. She pretended to not recall the conversation and made up a completely false statement ending it with trying to insinuate that’s what was actually said. I worked in psych for years, so again, I do not use that word lightly nor in a trendy way. Gaslighting is serious, especially in a “professional” environment. I corrected her and furthered my point on my recall being notoriously reliable. She then “declined” my messages and made the decision to stop our professional relationship as if there was one in the first place. If I were a doctor practicing negligence, I also wouldn’t want a patient who would hold me accountable. She also told me there was a plan for my spine, however she never discussed what that was. When she said that, it was news to me. I didn’t even know exactly why I was going to physical therapy. I would like to note I’ve had one other “provider” that was about as lacking as Mary Caldwell. However, I’ve had several providers that actually did their jobs. They spent sufficient time gathering data to do their best to come up with a plan which they also explained. I’ve also had several other providers validate my experiences and not in a just trying to end the conversation way. Authentically ashamed of these providers and their active involvement in negligence. I mean, I wonder how many people these providers that don’t even attempt to do their jobs actively ruin people’s lives. I only came to VCU because whatever is happening with me affects the quality of my life significantly. This particular appointment was a waste of time, money, and my insurance shouldn’t be billed for a service that clearly was not provided.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Seth Cheatham is awesome!
Experiencia negativa: The efficency and professionalism of this clinic has declined dramatically since my last visit in 2020. I had intensive foot surgery in January of 2024 thought that VCU PT would be the place to help me again. That was not what happened. They are more concerned with getting their students in and out that program, there is no thought behind individuals need. They are overbooked constantly and never have enough appointments available. Not all of the therapist are terrible but the timing and efficency of the clinic is down right comical. I was waiting for 3 weeks to have someone call me to get me back on the schedule. At this point I am better off doing my pt elsewhere. Do not get Johnathan Mack as your therapist, he is an absolute joke. The whole clinic cares more about it's students that they are "teaching" rather than it's patients.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a horrible experience at another ortho and VCU has been a savior. They got me right in as a new patient and started PT rather than going straight to shots, surgery, and referrals to other specialists (like the previous practice). They asked about me as a person: daily activity, lifestyle, what type of job I have (I’m on my feet), even asked how many stairs were in my house etc. I feel like the treatment I got aligned with my lifestyle and I have hope for full recovery for the first time in a year. I see some reviews about the costs: as someone who also is on a budget, I check with my insurance to be sure what is covered. Receptionist works for VCU, not your insurance. Most of the time they are just estimating anyway. And the care I got here was definitely a higher quality.
Experiencia fantástica: i would highly rate this a 5!!!!! i have been a patient of Dr Thomas Loughran since 1990. He is THE BEST orthapedic surgeon , he takes time and discusses your case, his bedside manner is Wonderful! Dr. Loughran is a wonderful person and the staff is GREAT too!
Experiencia fantástica: Best orthopedic surgeons in the world!!!!
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome Ortho Dr.... procedure was extremely successful..customer and patient care is second to none
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome facilty. The rehabilitation for the ACL I had is progressing miraculously.
Experiencia fantástica: I love this place. Its awesom
Experiencia negativa: I would give the doctor 5 stars. However for the front desk staff consistentsy and knowledge, which is what makes a business, I give 1 star. *Not able to tell you costs *Lack of communication on many fronts *While you're waiting in the room it is dead silent, no music I requested an appointment online and had to put in all of my details and concerns. I received a prompt call and spoke with a very nice and helpful receptionist. When I called back to give my insurance information, the receptionist (different from before) was unable to tell me what my cost would be "since the appointment was already scheduled". When I arrived I was checked in, then another person came up to tell me that the doctor would not be able to address all of my concerns and I would need to come back multiple times to visit all the concerns. I asked why I was not told this when I made the appointment or when I called back.

Experiencia negativa: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE!!!! They are set up as an "Outpatient PT" but they bill as if you're in the hospital. They charged 425.00 for a 20 minute evaluation and 780 for four "units" of exercise, which took all of 15 minutes. So unless you want to be charged an astronomical rate I would look to go a PT that isn't associated with the hospital system. VCU should be ashamed of itself, this is a joke.
Experiencia fantástica: Top notch!
Experiencia negativa: I was referred to VCU physical therapy for some exercises for my arthritic knees. I was very happy with my therapist and felt like my two 45 minute visits were good care. The $1400 bill I received for those visits, however, seems completely unreasonable. The initial consultation was $998. I would have never scheduled with VCU had I known of the fees for someone with a high deductible plan. I have called many, many times with no effort to adjust the fees. I have seen another therapist in the community and wish I had gone back to that practice. I believe when fees are this high, the patient should be made aware. I would not recommend VCU physical therapy.

Experiencia fantástica: I recommend Clayton Rainey if you need a good physical therapist, he really takes time with you to help you heal properly.
Experiencia fantástica: Top notch!
Experiencia fantástica: Doctor Seth Cheatham replaced My right knee in December 2017 & Rotary Cuff Surgery just this past September Little Scarring & EXCELLENT DOCTOR. MAKES A PATIENT FEEL COMFORTABLE TALKING TO HIM
Experiencia positiva: Staff are friendly, Bob is my physical therapist and he's friendly and very professional. The facility is clean and new. Parking is a little bit confusing, but the lady in the lobby walked out with us and showed us where to park, very outstanding. However, one star had to be taken off due to the receptionist on the phone and the receptionist inside the hallway(not the wonderful ladies in the lobby). They both sounds like they don't want to work and one more request will hurt them. The receptionist on the phone even gave me attitude for just some easy schedule adjustments.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Hillary Lindsey is a great Physical Therapist! This is my first experience with PT and she is always attentive and listens to my concerns. If you are looking for a personable Physical Therapist that is knowledgeable and can provide you with the best care you need to see her! The facility has a variety of equipment and space that accommodates all clients. Also the other employees are very friendly and helpful!
